Adaure4ever:@bolded, I totally agree, but only if she merits it when compared with other candidates (including male), and not on the sole basis that she's a woman. It troubles me you ladies don't appreciate the irony - you claim women are not inferior but you want special treatment. My immediate supervisor, a bastion of knowledge, courage and superb intellect is female, and she got that position strictly on merit and not any silly sentiment. In fact, as she confided in me, one of her dreaded fears will be comments like "you were given that position just because you are female, not because you are actually good". I'm not sure any lady worth her salt will also like to hear that. You want a position, WORK FOR IT, on a fair, even playing ground. If at any time during the process you notice discrimination on the basis of gender, then it can be taken up. |
Hehehe!!! This is certainly an emotive topic. But I think the response by LAstpage beautifully highlights the futility it. The whole idea of "affirmative action" as a means to equality is silly. Its an insult to women, especially the hardworking ones out there. You usually use such an action to give a disadvantaged group some leverage - unless you want to convince me that possessing a vag*** confers disability or inherent disadvantage of some sort. Thankfully, I know it doesn't. Zero tolerance to discrimination of any sort: race, ethnicity - and of course, sex - is never acceptable and is, incidentally, already covered in the constitution. So.....? |
NA human be these?? |
@OP, We thank God for your life, but nna meeen, the kind grammatical missiles wey dey hit me left and right from this your piece were simply too much much for comfort. Yes, you wrote it in a hurry, and yes this is the social media, and not "Jamb's use of English", but all the same some mistakes are simply too egregious for a jamb candidate: "Yesterday been Saturday". . . . ."as we were moving, the driver was". . ."most of the buses was filled, etc |
na wa o. |
owelle22:thats true. though i didint get the official rate with form A, but its far lower than the outrageous black market. |
same here. I'm currently running a program at the university of london and its not been easy |
Getting rid of GEJ and his claque of thieving parasites was the best thing to have ever happened to Nigeria. However, and it hurts to say this, the harsh reality is that PMB is not the answer. Its been one bungling faux pas after the other. AS usual he has once again jetted out the country again and will return and start sacking. I'm not impressed. For what it worth, I wouldn't blame the present naira woes too much on PMB. What we're experiencing is simply from culmination of many years of, collectively, poor decision and wastefulness, like spoilt children living off their father's wealth. From the guys importing foreign-made toothpick, to the govt spending billions to import refined oil when we have refineries, we are all to blame. Someone posted a brilliant article on the issue some weeks back. |
![]() Seriously, you guys should give it rest. Why pouring saliva all over the place? I repeat there's no issue here. Adultery is nothing to toy with. nuff |
HaneefahRN:And you had to include his mother. Shocked to see this coming from you |
For those who may not be aware, there is concern about the growing resistance to one of the key drugs used in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The drug is Tenofovir. Based on WHO recommendation, it replaced zidovudine as the preferred first line due to its better safety profile, comparable effectiveness, reduced cost and lower pill burden. However, a recent study revealed a disturbing pattern of resistance to the drug especially in this part of the world - as high as 60%. This has the possibility of obliterating the modest gains made in the fight against AIDS over the past few years. Nigeria's prevalence decreased from a peak of 5.8% in 2001 to 4.1% in 2010. Its currently estimated at 3.4%. New infections (incidence rate) has also been on the decline from over 300,000 in 2005 to about 150,000 as of last year. Much of the progress has been attributed to better awareness about HIV/AIDS; deployment at the federal, state and LG level, of a comprehensive response package (A,B,C,D)involving prevention, (know your status campaigns), PMTCT, etc; and of course the provision of effective ARVs. Indeed ARvs are believed to have averted about 71,000 deaths annually. So how did the resistance come about? Well, many factors are to blame, but top on the list are adherence issues. ART require at least 95% adherence to function effectively. Anything less than that could predispose the client to resistance and thus therapy failure. The worse is, there is currently no equally effective first line alternative to tenofovir, unlike in developed countries. Those who fail are switched to second line which are more toxic and not as effective. The foregoing is not to scare but to serve as a wakeup call. There has indeed been progress but the fight is still on. "Patients must be supported to adhere to therapy and to stay in care, and health systems must develop robust ways to monitor the effectiveness of their antiretroviral therapy programmes.”(USAID) Abstinence, being faithful and condom use (Yes, its effective, never mind what they say) and ART are pillars in the fight against AIDS. It must continue. http://acsh.org/news/2016/02/11/undoing-35-years-of-progress-aids-meds-resistance-in-africa/ http://www.voanews.com/content/growing-resistance-first-line-aids-drug-worries-experts/3168778.html http://www.unaids.org/en/resources/presscentre/featurestories/2016/february/20160208_Drug_resistance

mizquote:What of silly statement is this? Are you okay at all? yeye. @topic I really wonder why our air-headed counterparts are getting all hot and bothered. There is really no issue here. Adultery is not something to be toyed with or rationalized. Its a terrible thing and it destroys. For instance, the statement below is absolutely and shockingly preposterous: Don't even think about worrying your head about your husband's fidelity but warn him to use protection if he must keep mistresses...Da fuqqq?? ![]() Further this male vs female thingy is totally unnecessary. Any right thinking female, not irredeemably blinded by feminism, will easily see OP is not speaking for men. |
No need defending the indefensible. The budget is a fraud, an exercise of daylight robbery, an unmitigated embarrassment and Buhari must take FULL responsibility. First the case of the missing budget, then the allegations of substitutions, then lately the health minister, in a most embarrassingly stomach-wrenching moment conceivable, claiming the budget he saw wasn't his. PMB, you owe we your supporters an apology. ![]() However, attempts by pro-GEJ folks to make cheap gains is nauseating. Didn't you guys consider it curious that last year the money spent on purchase of books last year was N7m for the VP office, almost double that for this year? Are you guys aware house rent issue was part of 2014 and 2015 budget? There is clearly something seriously and fundamentally flawed with our budgeting process. PMB should do the needful asap. |
JustOzito:you have no regrets voting out PDP, but you miss GEJ?? |
GEJ2019:Just listened to the Channels, and house rent was part of the 2014 and 2015 budget. The guys from Premiumtimes who did extensive work on the budget said the template is that used by previous administration. The difference this time around is the level of "padding" that has taken place. |
This is totally unacceptable and highly disappointing from PMB. And I'm saying this as one who supported him in the last election Ive been to UNTH at Utuki Izalla, and trust me when I say that place is a cesspit. If you go to thier wards, there is no water. The tiolets are not washed, the smell is awful. . . Gosh, i just so pissed off to continue typing |
what exactly are thy going to be repping, hotels? |
unite4real:Well, perhaps it depends on the branch. I bank with them as well and thats what I was told by the agent that attended to me. Both times when I bought, it was through the secondary market. |
sodiamond:Diamond doesn't do primary, unless your principal is high (above N5m) is but even at that they'll try their best to convince you to invest in their packages: HIDA, etc. If you go through previous posts, it appears most people that got the primary bid used first bank or gtb. |
Odunharry:@bolded, are you kidding me?? |
wow! I got shivers reading some comments here. So this 1 million gang ish is real when i clicked, I actually the topic was some misleading, sensationalist crap. Lord have mercy. . . |
youngfellow:The ban has been lifted. I just made an online payment in pounds using my naira matercard, and it went smoothly. but thier rate meeeeeen. . . |
frebor:Can you imagine that!!! MEanwhile GTB charged me N403 to 1GBP. see rip off!!! ![]() |
The lady is jus extra sensitive, that's all. The doc, young as he may seem has probably touched hundreds, so what difference will one more make. He most likely was amused by her reaction to his touch, hence the smiling. So what would happen if a VE is perfored on her? she go squiirt!!! ![]() |
CHOI!!! NL and bashing. |
Congrats to Umahi. HE's obviously doing a wonderful work. Road rehabilitation, street lights, infrastructures. . . But he shouldn't only concentrate in Abakaliki And make he try pay youth corpers ooooooo. |
lol! the guy's 'thing' don fall by force, even with a nakeed woman nearby. ![]() |
which one rat poultry again? |
lmao @ comments ![]() But I think the consensus is indubitable. Kanu's advert with startimes--all due repect to him--has to be the wackiest, 'fakest', silliest, most uninspiring and downright idiotiic advert I've seen in quite a while. However we really can't blame the football icon; the dumbo that developed the horrendous concept for that advert should be shot. Seriolsly!! Moreover, Startimes should able to get something of at least reasonable quality, its not like they're a mushroom company for crying out loud!! they have the resources |
VickyRotex:na which language be this? |
Chillis:VERY!! |
