Does this mean Canadian graduates with no Canadian work experience yet due to Covid can apply and get ITA?

I don’t think so. To be eligible to have a CEC profile means you must have one year of work experience in Canada.

Revman:

On the contrary, I do not think they are getting desperate, I think that they are making it clear the category of people they actually want in their country.

The only thing that sets CEC apart from FSW as a category is that CEC are presently inside Canada and FSW are outside.

They are getting desperate because when the economy rebounds they need to meet their immigration target or for it to rebound, they need to meet that target. They also wanna do that without exposing themselves to the risk of deadly variants from outside the country, hence the decision to give access to everyone in the country that’s willing to work (if this CEC draw isn’t a glitch).

So yes, they are desperate to have immigrants that would need to work on standby as there’s a whole lot of debt to recover.

You need to help yourself by learning how to simply answer questions. You’ve generalized and not answered to the specific university I questioned about.

Anyway, thanks.

You all need to help yourself by stopping the spread of false information. No school is exempted from evaluation by any of the evaluating bodies. Go to any of their websites you will find all eligible countries there and under your country of study, you will find your school. Most of the time, it's the schools that ends up dragging the evaluation when they don't send your transcript to WES on time.

Hi everyone,

Please does anyone know if WES still evaluates transcripts from Houdegbe North American University Benin.

I have heard different versions of stories and I wouldn’t want to waste my money.

Plus, using IQAS has been a struggle as I’ve not been able to get access to their website.

Is there anyone who knows the way forward?

Good morning my people...

If you came before April 2020 and over 19 years of age, and dont have kids, Fill the RC151 form(check for on the CRA website) and send to your tax centre. you will declare your 2018 and 2019 income converted to CAD before you came to Canada. You Qualify as long as you are PR or have a valid work permit .

Thanks. I saw this category and have filled and sent the form. Thanks a lot

You can fill your income for 2018 and 2019 on the same form!

If you havent applied for benefit before now, the chances that you will be paid the one off GST/HST credit is very slim as it will be rolled out on April 9th.

If your intention was to do a soft landing but got locked in as a result of the pandemic, application for benefits should be put on hold till you are ready to take up residence . That is just my opinion.

Already in residence for more than a month not soft landing. Thanks

Seniors, any guidance on GST/HST credit... Being a newcomer and unable to get a job or know how long this lockdown would last for, is it advised to apply as soon as possible, and from experience is there any demerits with applying so soon?

Would appreciate honest replies... Thanks

Congratulations. Kindly share the methods used in acing your ielts exam. Please help a sister. Thanks

My methods didn’t work, please don’t be like me... drop the shoulder and pay either johnnybravo or blissnenye to assist you with your preparation. It’s cheaper to pay them their token in comparison to 68k times 5. Think about it.

To look for either of them, just read through the threads and you’ll find them or use their handles to search. I know blissnenye is travelling soon, so she might be a little busy but you never know.

However, if you want to practice on your own please send me a message and I might be able to find the link to a google drive folder that has some practice questions.

May the journey be blissful for all of us. Amen

Family of me, myself and I
To God be the glory!!!
It ended in praise...

Where do I start from? Cause this Canada journey has started from as far back as 2011.

I finished NYSC and decided to go for masters in Canada with my 2.2, went to PFL (Preparation for Life - an education consultant) and they did their normal normal, paid for all and was advised to just go for a diploma. Money wasted with PFL, started my application for PGD by myself and got offers from Seneca, Humber and Cetennial. Oya Mumsy come and drop money for this Canada something o, na so story enter... long story short, she had other plans for me to join my siblings in the UK. This was already end of 2012, and the UK has just scrapped their post-study work visa (why I do not like Theresa May till date and was happy how she was treated with all this brexit nonsense, I digress)

Moved to the UK, January 2013... finished my masters degree, met the LOML, hustled a tier 2 visa, things still didn’t add up, I started looking towards Canada again. This was January 2015 already and I think ITA draws were around 700 at the time, so I fashied it. If you don’t know where you’re going to, please know where you’re coming from... so I packed my bags and Naija next flight.

Got a job in Naija in 2 months (Aug 2015) and I thank God for his blessings upon me. I stayed at my job, happy and content with no wahala but still used one eye to be eyeing Canada as one of my main line is “Never get too comfortable and always make your next move at your most comfortable”.

Struggles of life kicked in and I lost my Dad in 2017 (still feels like yesterday). He never understood why I came back to Naija and has always said I should go to Canada (you know how these parents want their children to be spread all over the world, sisters are in the UK and US, so he wants Canada for me. Maybe it would make him happier knowing that he has dropped his seeds at every corner of the world type thing) Anyway, upon his death, I revisited the CIC website and opened another profile, calculated my score again, checked my WES account (I already had one from my former waka with Canada). Requested for my masters transcript and got it going. Hence ECA was a breeze.

IELTS (The Almighty Writing)
I had written IELTS Academic once in the UK and it was easy, all scores above 8. So I thought “no be IELTS?” Mschew, I’ll blow it out of the park. Then I wrote the first General Exam in 2017 without even knowing that the Listening has to be 8. It came back and wasn’t up to scratch, so I gave it 6 months as I was not in a hurry. Then Feb 2018 I wrote another one, Reading came short, I’m like, do this people know who they are messing with, I’ve read masters o!!! How can I score 6.5 in reading?? I didn’t know the future was telling me to drop my shoulders. I took the test again, then Writing showed itself, this time I’m like “Me, writing?? Who helped me write my 18,000 word dissertation, this people must be joking”. I applied for a remark, nothing changed o. Gave it another go about 4 months later, writing came back at 6.5 again. At this point, I’m like “Eyin village people, una well done o”. I just fashied it and went on holiday with the LOML to gather all the inspirizle I could gather. Came back and wrote it again for the 5th time. This time I used videos and practiced... don’t still think I practiced enough but I was humble sha. Score came back at LSRW: 9,8.5,9,7

Ese o, Nagode... I’ll take it like that, all I need is 7 in writing. Almighty writing, thanks for humbling me o. God, I thank you.

ITA
I slid into the pool with my already created account at 473, was rest assured I would get it on a Wednesday in August 2019. The Wednesday came and I think it was during Ileya, I went about eating my meat as it should be. It didn’t come on the Wednesday It was supposed to come, but I wasn’t perturbed as I knew my score would give me ITA. It eventually came as a surprise, I think people called it Suprise ITA at the time as it came on a Monday or so. Well, I had already emailed both qlife and IOM, so no suprise anything, we been here a long time, let’s do this.

Medicals
Having mailed them both, I chose to use IOM although it was more expensive but I knew I didn’t want any time wasting as qlife gave me a later date. I drove all the way from the island to the mainland as early as I could and didn’t mind, got there about 6:45 and met a few people, went about it like normal business and was out of there around 11am. No fear, no scare... we thank God and we move.

PCC
This was easy as Inspector Moshood made it cool and straight forward. Gave him 5,500 although I knew people paid less, but what’s 5,500 in this journey, you don’t want to know how much IELTS took from me. Also, didn’t want to waste time.

Since I schooled in the Uk and spent more than 6 months there, I also need UK PCC. That was a breeze, as I applied online and wrote my GF’s address ( same as the LOML, don’t be confused... Lol). Got it back in due time, asked her to scan (snap) and send, she did and sent back the black and white copy (I knew no better, wait till the end).

Both PCCs obtained, we move.

POF
Got it from my mama, God bless her or I mean I did the Deed of Gift from her. I thank God for all those who had my back. I didn’t want to fix or do any mutual fund anything cause at the time when I was applying, I heard a lot of stories about people who did FD, MF getting ADR for POF and I also thought well, if the minimum tenure for most would be 6 months wouldn’t that mean they would think you can’t access the money until after the period? Plenty overkaku sha but I opted out of fixing it. I put it in my salary account, got a statement of account, got highlighters and highlighted my salary one color and the tranches of deposit into my account to show as POF another color. Explained that in my letter of explanation and even used the color as color key in the letter. Also got my deed of gift notarized at the court, some say it isn’t necessary... I sha did it o.

Other documents
Got my reference letter stating who I be, what I is and what I do. Got pay slips for 6 months as well.

Application time
I wanted to make sure I submitted before August 2019 ran out. Got all the documents scanned and placed in folders on my google drive. Opened my CIC account carefully placed them there, merging documents with pdf2go when I had to and splitting documents when I had to. The application was fun. Added the LOE at the end. Checked about 3 times that I put everything where they were supposed to be at and then I prayed as I sent it, used the Holy Ghost and name of God to click send. August 31 AOR.

Post AOR
Then I begun looking for groups to join because knowledge is power. Joined a few with our Indian brothers in them but eventually got a Nigerian one. Was initially quiet but it was good to know that I ain’t alone on this journey.

CSE (webforms).... Three webforms
From my wakawaka on Nairaland and WhatsApp Groups, I realized my UK PCC should have been scanned colored... Haaaa this arabinrin of a LOML want to koba me ni sha... Eh Madam, please Oya scan colored and send to me Biko. We shall not hear stories that touch. So I raised my first CSE, uploaded it and got response about 10 days later that it has been added to my application and I would be contacted if any further enquiry is required. I say Ok!!!

Then I also read that Misrepresentation can lead to rejection of application and ban for 10 years. Jesu Kristi, God forbid bad thing... Err Acshually, there’s one time that I applied for one visa in the uk and I didn’t use it but I got it and I... the story is complex and complicated. I sought advice from a few guys online and via the WhatsApp groups and I got sound advice. God bless them all. I raised another CSE to that effect and got the same response about 10 days later. This was already getting to the 2 months post AOR mark.

Birthday was approaching and I was thanking God for everything, can the golden mail come on my birthday, well with God all things are possible but statistically I knew it was less likely as it would barely be over two months.

I stumbled on threads where people complained about Accra VO and NDVO being the worst... Hay God. What’s my VO bayi o? I proceeded with requesting for my VO and in another 10 days, it was stated to be Orrawa (if you know, you know). Thank God!!! We move

3 months POST AOR
The only ghost I saw was when my UCI changed, apart from that I check my account almost every other day. Don’t blame me. I had read that it’s beneficial to request for GCMS notes after the 3 months mark, it wouldn’t change anything other than you know what’s going on with your application. So I ordered for one at about Mid-November, instead of ordering the much delayed GCMS note, I order for the CBSA note which was a bit more expensive but what’s that in this journey.

May I add that the man has stayed low key all through, no extravagant anything. Just sit in my house during the weekends, watch football and cook (no money for eatery abeg). Then I decided to go on holiday during my birthday and it felt like the right time to get engaged, so that happened. May God continue to guide us to make the right decisions. We move... prayers continued

So I followed up with the WhatsApp group of my Indian brothers and I noticed a trend, this was mid December already. These men were impatient and they had started calling IRCC to know the status of their application. I carefully analyzed like 5 of them’s cases and noticed that they were getting PPR mail about 2 weeks after calling. Bear in mind they submitted their applications around early August, so most of them were past the 4 months mark at this point.

Oh well, I guess it’s about time i got to work. I had already downloaded FreeTone or something and wasted money but then I inquired further from some Nigerian brothers and was told Dingtone would do it... Oya let’s go!

Downloaded it and made a call on the 18th of December, spent about 15 minutes on hold then I got through to an agent who spoke French and English... Err Je parle Anglais s’il vous plait (Still learning on Duolingo, gimme 6 months and I’ll be flowing)... He asked a couple of security questions to which I responded and I then asked for status on Eligibility, Criminality, Security. He responded that medicals was passed ( I know that already), criminality passed (a dupe o, we no be criminal), eligibility recommended passed (huh, what’s that?) and security (not started). Would you want to know any other thing , he asked, No, that would be all for now I responded with a deep sigh of relief. I had read that recommended pass meant that junior officer has checked and recommends that your profile is eligible, it just then needs the approval of an Oga at the top to give it the final go ahead... that’s good!!! We can work with that, I thought.

I shared the news with a few egbons on the journey and they congratulated my that my golden mail would drop soon, I didn’t know if I should start jumping for joy as I was like Err it’s only more than 3 months o, the countdown in my profile is 6 months o... e ma gbe mi mora o. Anyway, there’s nothing God cannot do.

I knew what my plan was, at this point I was more Indian than Nigerian, so I decided to call again on the 24th of December, I got through again under 10 minutes of waiting... this is because I call as soon as it’s 8am Orrawa time. A lady picked up and we did the normal dance of security questions to which I obliged her all she needed. Then she asked, when last did you call, I acted dumb for a second and said 18th and she exclaimed... Really? And I’m like yuhhhh (ogbeni it’s me that know where the shoe is paining me in the leg o, you’re sitting down in your pretty office in Orrawa and I’m here having to call Ejire the mokalik to manage my kickstarter for me because ain’t nobody gonna buy a car at this quarter to leave Nigeria time)... anyway, yuhhhhh was a more concise response. She went on to scold me and told me not to call every week as my application is looking good and I should call again around the 6 months mark. I haff hear o.

Shower of blessing
So I noticed a Bureau Veritas profile checked my LinkedIn page. I had noticed this some months back but didn’t pay any mind to it but people stated that it could be a background check. IRCC checks your name on search engines to see what pops up. I resumed back to work on the 27th of December having had one of the most boring Christmases but that’s fine. When God wants to bless you, he’ll take chicken away to give you bokoto. I logged into my Cic account that morning and I saw Application/profile updated, I was like huh But how possible is this when yesterday was a holiday, so I went into my profile and came back to the place where I saw it and it has changed to submitted... HaaHa, so this is why it’s called a ghost. I ran to my WhatsApp group, eyin temi(my people) I saw something o, it do like this and then did like this. They were laughing at me... are you sure that’s what you saw? Walahi, it saw it. Ogbeni you couldn’t have seen it, yesterday was public holiday. Oh well, maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me but I told my people and we moved on. Some said then it’s not long anymore, our watch shall be over soon.

I got home, thought about sleeping then changed my mind and thought again that I would be better to stay awake till 11pm when the golden mail is known to drop in people’s mails. Oh well, man cannot come and kill himself, I’ve been at work all day and sleep did it’s thing. I woke up around 10:45 gerege and I caught the mail... I swear I caught when it dropped in my box, the time wasn’t 1m ago or anything, it stated “now”. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I opened it and I couldn’t read. I took a picture... sent to the WhatsApp group and the congratulations rolled in... the feeling is surreal I must tell you. I couldn’t sleep till 4am as several thoughts came to my mind.

So I had to submit my passport at the nearest VFS office, but I got the mail on a Friday and I had to wait till Monday... felt like the longest Monday ever. Yet again I Dey my house through the weekend, it’s that time that they will say that it was when... God forbid bad thing, I sha Dey my house. Monday shall come and it did come. I submitted the passport without any hassle, paid the N7430 or so (I hear it’s free now) and wished my passport farewell. Now the 3 weeks wait begins. Patience in this journey is key! You’ll learn it if you don’t have it...

Part 2 of my story to continue
Teaser: I’ve gotten COPR already and my trip is in a bit, but my fingers hurt at the moment and a man gotta chill!
