OP since you're really good with sewing, I will say you should learn packaging. Learn how to package your works, get better materials and start sewing ready made clothes. Make enough in different sizes and design.........Get a good camera, Then zoom to social media, create groups, pages and start advertising.


If you're into male design, join groups that has mature Men, message and offer them something better than what they are putting on. Let see how it goes after three months .

I am planning to make judicious use of my holiday after exams, please my question is can anyone suggest where i can get practical skills regarding my course of study and what should I learn also? I think this is related to the I.T stuff

Before next week, kindly check your school Aluta market to check on someone who knows graphics designing very well and start immediately. Ohhh Your course is tough right? I don't care (you will know why in my next paragraph), just start with every seriousness and never, I repeat, never let your class time to take a minute out of the time you will use for skill learning.

You know why? My kid bro graduated from the same course as yours with a first. He works with arguably the highest paying firm in Nigeria and his department is being managed by an Indian. You know how those people see Nigerian, Right? Last month he told me like 4 of his friends left to fully face their IT career and he is also considering doing so, all thanks to the fact that they used their school days to learn IT (All of them are good programers with other IT skills). If they had not learn those skills then but faced his course full time, they will not have option. And I know so many who studied your course (and even with good connection) that IT is saving their days.


Read for your course and pass your exams but take skill acquisition more serious, e get why.

I believe the OP is one of the hardworking and fortunate one who gained from Industrial training. He has right to his opinion.

However, not all were fortunate enough to get placement to where they can really learn. These days to get placement for students is very difficult despite the fact that they have to suffer through the period.

During my school days, I was also fortunate to get a placement in a federal ministry. I gained financially in exchange for self development because there was nothing practical to learn, that is, nothing different from the theory I was taught in school and we didn't have much time to learn other things. Nowadays, they will use you to the extent you start questioning your sanity. I looked at some Boys having their Industrial training at one Govenment Hospital in Ibadan and the only thing I could say was, may the Good Lord save them. Them dey suffer abeg, in fact that kind sufferness no fit allow them learn any single thing.
