Just despicable how every criminal element in the South East is speedily tagged IPOB/ESN, not only by bigoted idiots, but even by our incompetent and unprofessional Nigerian Police Force, Military and other security agencies.

These low life kidnappers and robbers are just that - opportunistic criminals motivated by money. It serves no meaningful purpose to tag them IPOB/ESN.
You don't need to twist what is obvious...the kidnappers refered to themselves as UGM...UGM is the armed militia of IPOB aka ESN..

No one tagged them..they confessed to be UGM

Solution to our economy problems is production and nothing else. No monetary or fiscal policy will solve our problem if we don't reduce our importation. Currency denomination can not strengthen the naira and is the worst economy policy I have ever seen.
We need to have industrial parks in each region and ensure that we start producing products that we capacity to produce locally
Simple..

State government and local government together have more responsibility than the federal ..it is their responsibility to ensure provisions of land for investors..cuz the federal government doesn't own land...

But Nigerians are naive of truly how government works and should be .so everything is blaimed on tinubu alone..when the state government relax and do nothing..

Another thing is based on our odd mentality.. Nigerians love leaders that do alot of white elephant projects to gain support and love..a lot of governors capitalize on this and build usel projects and Nigerians hail them..

Just like umahi who wasted 36bn on a non functional airport, serakie Dickson wasted 37bn on an airport that doesn't work..
And Many more..toh

Nawao, even tinubu sef just assemble clueless technocrats. What is the difference between maize and corn? Unless the blood sucking coruption, gross and blatant wastages couple with the overbloated wages of politicians is totally and completely eradicated, window dressing the naira will not save it. Even almajiries knows that, ramping up local production, minimal imports or most essential products import, eradicating oil thefts and 100% accounting for crude sold, will transform the country in less than 4 months.
Easy for you to say .

How exactly do you want government to revamp local production..goes government own all the industries? And can they just give a matching order for all industry to revamp?

Most of what Nigerians import are essential in various degrees.. except there are substitute created by local industries..imports will continue..and as much as Nigerians will continue to despise local produce like rice for example and love the foreign ones.. people will continue to import it..

Crude oil theft is highly sophisticated..however the most effective approach is the one buhari put out by awarding contract to miscreants..that has resulted in more arrest in less than a year compared to the arrest made by the navy in 4 years ..

The oil companies are the crooks behind cause account of oil sales ..they are falsified by their Ogas and will be difficult to fight

The refinery is to give him monopoly over the oil and gas industry na.. so he will be sole authority importing and dictating price of PMS, AGO and other petroleum products... Ideally it's NNPC that should have like 4 - 6 working refineries to save the economy, not a private businessman like Dangote.

Pick up the nonsense Petroleum Industry Act they did and see the unpatriotic laws they smuggled into the document for some selected few to be getting richer..

It's like you don't know these Northerners are ready to destroy anything just to continue enriching themselves.. If you know the number of Space Agencies and Research Institutes in Abuja they have destroyed, you'll marvel. There are some agencies in Abuja that you won't see advert for recruitment, they have shared all the slots for 100 percent Northerners and they travel for overseas study like they are travelling to their backyard, wasting Nigeria's resources.
He will not need to import anything if he has monopoly over the production...
besides.. it isn't a bad monopoly if other investor including the government chose to run from the business of refining but someone is taking that risk to participate.. it isn't Dangote's fault that he is the only one that has seen opportunity in refining business

government gave license to many others,.. ask they all ran away...

tinubu is diluting government now and filling it more with yorubas.. it is only a matter of time.. they too will allocate jobs to their people,, such act is how Nigerians are it has nothing to do with northerners.. if southerners are there it is likely the same thing..

unless you put someone competent to stop it.

I had an arguement with someone on this platform that Dangote is one of the worst things to have happened to Nigeria. Exploiting his connections with the rogue government officials to siphon the Nigerian population....his cement is another thing...

He cant compete fairly...all his other ventures especially in the food industry was a totall failure....his successfull businesses are the cement and sugar industries which technically are a monopolistic industries in Nigeria

His refinery was practically built by the Nigerian government....he was given tax rebate, free from customs duties and dollar sold to him at a very cheap rate, far below the official CBN rate....

The man is a leech and Nigeria really needs to get rid of him
LOL ..isn't that the support he should get for embarking on a $20bn project ..no human no earth has ever done in Africa.. and you think he can do that with his bare hands.. you look at the state of the economy.... we both know that one of the things that brought this far is the lack of a refinery.. now someone comes to correct not by building one to meet half of out needs but all and surplus for exports..and you think he doesn't require incentive to do it?

don't get me wrong though ..his crime here isn't stealing forex but acquiring them wrongly ..after all he was putting them all into the Nigerian economy by investing in all his project..

politicians have stolen 20x and stacked them foreign banks ...Abacha is a sample, they are not hated as much as someone taking the risk to better the country..

During the 2023 presidential inauguration, senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s recently elected president made an announcement which marked the beginning of a new era in the Nigerian petroleum Industry, "NIgeria's Fuel Subsidy is gone"

The decision to end fuel subsidies sent a major shockwave on the Nigerian economy.
this further increased the already worsening inflation rates. transportation fees were at their highest ever.
Nigerians began exploring newer alternatives as it became obvious that the era of cheap fuel is gone forever.
So far, the alternatives largely being studied includes EV or electric vehicles and gas-powered vehicles
Due to Nigeria’s dilapidated power infrastructure. And the tendency to burn fuel to provide the energy needed to power electric vehicles. Nigerians have ignored electric vehicles. The cost of such vehicles and the high technical know-how required for proper maintenance are also major reasons.

The gas option becomes the only viable option of interest. The gas economy is still at its infantry stage in Nigeria and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is determined to fast track this.
The video below showcases the major strategic projects that will spearhead the Nigerian Gas Revolution.

Reference:
When you folks claim success in infrastructure of the last administration, exactly what do you mean.

My own idea of infrastructure is the investment in the tools of productivity a country undertakes to either hedge against hard times ahead and ensure the passage through future economic woes is beningn.

Investment in infrastructure is to expand income so that prosperity is guaranteed or an investment in infrastructure is simply tooling for a recovery.

Breaking down for most uneducated Nigerians to know.

A farmer knows the dry season is coming and he wants to plant through the hard times to come so he invests in a water providing borehole. Or.

A taxi driver knows the margins he is getting will be diminsihed with rising fuel prices so he invests in another cab, or converting his car to alternate fuels, etc.

Or a man out of job takes a soft loan to learn another trade so he can get back into employment.

The borehole, the new taxi, the new trade is his INFRASTRUCTURE. The process of which is planned, deliberate and the targets of progress are clear. It will save, promote, expand the fortunes of the fellows investing.

Now ask yourself again, exactly what the past government invested in. What infrastructure it has built and what benefit it accrues to Nigeria(ns), particularly now that the products of such infrastructure investment are in dire need.

It will be immediately clear to you that whatever sums were spent were mistaken and wasted.

The one investment that Nigerians were crying day and night for. The one investment that will have made a difference today, the one investment that will have helped curtail inflation and the cost of living crises, the investment in the infrastructure of refining crude oil to extract energy was largely ignored PROVING that the government of Mr. Buhari failed completely in understanding what the challenges were and thus was unfit to govern this country.

So when you folks yakk about infrastructure please be informed. A man who has no borehole on his farm has no business painting the farm gate.

A taxi driver who has no sight, no vision of investment to cut out the effects of rising fuel prices has no business purchasing incar entertainment.

A man who has just lost his job has no business changing his home furniture.

The way folks shouted 'infrastructure' yesterday is the same way they are mistakenly defining another trending word, 'technocrat'. As an aspiring office holder with a school certificate. I just laugh. Ignorant people.

U don't threatened military just like that and expect them to succumb.
ECOWAS gave 7 days ultimatum ..
I am not sure.. the military overthrew a civilian government just for another country to come over and talk them through and they give it back to the same civilian government they worked and planned well to remove..

In all of the military coups that has never happened..
What the juntas need to sucum to defeat is war and sanctions or possibly more military rulers overthrowing the present ones until one is willing to transfer power to a new elected government..

Wrong on both counts sir.

1. When Toyota does business in Nigeria, the bulk of its profits are repatriated outside Nigeria, resulting in huge capital flight and forex pressure

2. Innoson and other manufacturers do own their designs. I believe this has been settled long ago, but if you have contrary information, kindly share your source.

3. As for people complaining, that is no concern of mine. As long as the right thing is done, let people complain - and what is the right thing? To adopt a Nigeria first strategy, and always looking buy as close to home as possible. That means if it is not available in your State, then check the next state and so on until you cannot find that item anywhere in nigeria, before you go abroad.
I agree with no. 1

But still.. most of the money stays in Nigeria

Also innoson and the rest are still highly dependent on imports..

Innoson copies from foreign companies and import their parts ..IVM caris is a copy of a Volkswagen sedan..IVM g80 is a copy of a BAIC SUV same as IVMg40

IVM Ikenga is a copy from Lexus..
Innoson has no design unique only to the company

I am against patronizing goods made in a foreign land ..
.as far as it is made in Nigeria or in this case assembled... Then there is no cause for alarm..

Realistically speaking, Innoson assemble his vehicles as well not manufacture..the designs of his vehicles are not his own as well .

The company that assembly the Toyota vehicle employs Nigerians to handle it same way the indigenous companies do ..in all it is a plus for the Nigerian economy..

By the way..even if the governor bought from Nord vehicles in SW or peugeot in the north now owned by Dangote... People will still complain why he didn't patronize innoson cuz of tribe..
