Whatever it is kaita and his band of co-travelers in the core north want power for, they can as well wait beyond 2015. No one has monopoly of power. GEJ will eventually leave, so will anyone after him. What Nigeria need is strong institutions, not strong men. National Assembly, the Executives, and Judiciary as well as the civil societies can help put such things in place. Kaita and his band of fellow travellers should either be patience or plot the next moves. Nigerians will call his bluff! |
thelastPope: This is very untrue. If you have ever lived in the north, you would know this is false. The average northerner believes and preaches pne Nigeria like their lives depend on it. They have actually been brainwashed to believe that it was their agriculture that fed the whole Nigeria before oil was discovered.Eziachi will say virtually anything these days to promote core north, nay buhari, I wonder what motivates him. Surely it's not any altruism if you ask me. |
I might just say, this is er- er- a timely reminder of where we started from. Paying crime only beget more crimes. #NO TO AMNESTY FOR BOKO HARAM |
Beyond Kaita frustrated outburst, one need to pay serious attention to the unnatural demand by the core North for power. I mean there are other ethnic groups and geopolitical zones in the country (depending on how you look at it). Why this desperation for power by core north? Why can't the core north wait for 4, 8, or 12 years as the case may be if for power if they indeed love Nigeria? Igbos have endured being out of power for decades now; actually thrived without it. There are other ethnic groups like the Efik, Ibibio, Annangs, Idoma with sizeable population. Why not them? I think it's all fair if power should rotate across geopolitical zones, as every zone can provide a credible individual for presidency - not necessary some political heavy weight. In any case, kaita have given many neutrals reasons why power should remain in the south, or at the minimal away from core north. If Nigeria will divide as a result of this, it simply confirms the idea that Nigeria was not meant to be. We can certainly survive, even thrive, without Nigeria. By the way, I think the SSS should invite Kaita for a chat. |
Kaita made similar comment run off to the 2011 general election, GEJ trounced all the Northern candidate and the core North descended on itself, unleashing terror and destroying their economy? Is Nigeria ungovernable? I think not. Now that Kaita is back again, if a Northerner does not emerge president, will he invite Al Qeada to take over from boko haram? How is Kaita going to make Nigeria disintegrate? Which force does he command? Seems like this Kaita is an ignorant muse. |
Nice one Op, A very refreshing reminder of the reach of the erudite proffessor - Chinua Achebe. May he rest in perfect peace. |
Because it NAMA doesn't necessarily mean it must employ nnama. Daily Trust should quit their bigotry. |
Boko Haram members should lay down their weapons and melt into the night. And hope and prays they are not fished out and fair judgement meted to them as they walk around 'free'. In any case, It would be very immoral to 'pay' them for killing other people in senseless fashion. It beats me that Ribadu failed to appreciate that. What does Ribadu propose FG do for the countless victims, and families torn apart? I again join well meaning Nigerians to say: #NO TO AMNESTY FOR TERRORISTS |
Ribadu, kindly tell me what we should do to the victims after rewarding their cold blooded murderers? |
You guys should lay off Seun. If you think a comment is too offensive or breaks the rule, there is the complaint sections or 'report to the moderator' link - please use them. Opening threads every now and then to complain about 'tribalism' is getting boring. There are by the way other sections/topics in Nairaland devoid of so called tribalism. This is Cyber! |

Odunnu: My anger is directed at the government of Kano state. It beats me why he should make the comment he made and present a doctored list like you noted of a certain Bassey whose name isnt there. Thanks for the clarification. I understand you better. As for those who think there is no 'Ade', 'Gbenga', and 'Ola','Bose' etc involved. Let them keep living in denial. |
Sibrah: The why behind the throwing of the stone is really important here. The moral behind the throwing of the stone - pardoning bode george, an ex-con, is the point here. The 'nearly' here is that the whole thread is a much ado about nothing. Bode George was not pardoned - fact! The fact that Bode George was removed from the list means that despite his flaw, GEJ actually do listen. It is not all gloom and doom at the FG as many would have us believe So how can we be discussing what nearly happen; to the point of blaming someone for not doing the wrong thing? When we should be praising him. But seeing the retardeen choirs following the lead of their choirmaster, I am not in anyway surprise. In their world any opportunity for propaganda should not be missed. ![]() |
Never has 'nearly' killed a bird. |
Odunnu: The list of deceased will still reflect a lot of non-igbos. It beats me how such a calamity will befall a nation and we attempt to tribalise it.My dear sister, it is our country and land. But we can't help but note that these attacks appears to have a pattern. Oft times christians and non-indigenes are targeted directly. The other day we read that 50 out of 52 Catholic churches have been destroyed in similar attacks. Only God knows how many people (son, daughters, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, cousins, uncles, aunties etc) were lost. On this particular disaster, we know that a suicide car rammed into fully packed Luxurious buses. And the majority of the dead came from within the buses. You will agree with me that implying that the list of passers by affected by the blast reflect those who actually died is the blast smacks of wicked propaganda. Why would the injured have names, while the dead remains nameless? Are the dead not more important victims' classifications? |
I remember there was one injured Bassey interviewed by Punch Newspaper. He is conspicuously missing from this list. Perhaps it's some cooked up list. Anyway, let's assume this list correctly reflect the injured. We all know that in bomb blast those who are not at the epicenter of blast often escape with varying degree of injuries. Bottomline the list above only reflect those who have other reasons to be at the motor park, not necessarily the list of targets of the blast. @op, Can we have the list of the deceased victims? |
In His time, wealthy people own and ride horses and chariots, but Jesus Christ choose to 'borrow' and ride a lowly donkey! In our time wealthy people own and cruise in hummer jeep and private jet, but Bishop Oyedepo chooses to fly around in four private jets. Is Bishop Oyedepo following the examples of Christ? I think not! |
Lagos is the commercial nerve of Nigeria. If Boko Haram starts setting of bombs in Lagos, the consequence will be better imagined. I support the move by the security services to round up illegal and aliens especially from Chad, Mali, Libya, Niger, and Northern Cameroon. They should be adequately interrogated and deported if their stories are not convincing. They should also consider using some of them as double agents to infiltrate the terrorists ranks and files. I however join well meaning Nigerians in saying: #NO TO AMNESTY FOR TERRORISTS |
Amnesty for Northern Nigeria islamic terrorists by the Northern Governors? I dey laff Well if it helps flush them out in the open to enable the JFT boys bury slugs in the skulls, I am all for it! |
Rest in peace Prof Chinua Achebe, Man of the People, friend of truth! You will be greatly missed! |
ndu_chucks: Stop pretending to be a dummy, dummy! No one can justify the murder of innocent Nigerians. What we all should be calling for is the arrest, prosecution, and judgement of the terrorists and their sponsors, who are responsible for the killings.I guess you prefer to prance around rather that explain why you think that GEJ actions or in-actions justifies terrorism! I can confidently confirm you are a closet terrorist sympathizer. |
ndu_chucks: Why are you people bent on derailing your own thread simply because my view of these events differs from yours and because I insist that the buck stops with our President? When you finished prancing around, I hope you will give explanation to your subtle justification of mass murder on none indigenes by element of northern islamic terrorists as captured in the quote below. ndu_chucks: With the government killing innocent Hausa/Fulani people including women and children in the name of fighting BH, and terrorists killing Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa/Fulanis, in retaliation, we have to conclude that GEJ is clueless and is a major contributor to the epidemic of violence across the country. |
ndu_chucks: You must be lacking in certain areas to be driven by the urge to tell people what to do. Please try to satisfy that urge in your household.Just answer the questions, let's know where you stand! Do you sympathize with the terrorist? |
ndu_chucks: It appears that you are not yet sober. You have not yet learnt that opinions by their very nature are diverse and you are not qualified to tell anyone what their opinion should be.I am just calling your attention to your callous and crass remark. It is only a terror sympathizer that will justify terrorism. Are you one? |
One_Naira: they send more army to protect and watch over northerners in onitsha than actually sending them up north to find this BH fools. last time i was in Nigeria and paid a small visit to Onitsha, i was shocked the amonut of army they have roaming that area. they have them plenty full SS, plenty full onitsha but they won't send them up north to actually do the job they are being paid to do. waste of tax payers money. ihijerika sit down and go send troops up north. if the northerners in your command refuse to go, then send southerners. stop talking. That's my point really; too much time spent talking than actually doing the needful. The hotbed of terror needs more boots on the ground than using the troops to play cat and mouse game with toothless MASSOBS! |
^^^^ This is not a thread to attack GEJ; it is meant to condemn the despicable acts of our Northern Nigeria Islamic terrorists, and mourn the dead. Whatever GEJ did or did not do affects the whole country, not just the core North. How many regions are killing people indiscriminately in the name of discontent? So attempting to justify terrorism because of GEJ's action or inaction is as despicable as the act of terrorism itself. You will do well to steer your thoughts away from that path, it leads to infamy; you risk been ticked off as terrorists sympathizer/collaborator. Northern Islamic terrorist have been butchering people (especially non indigenes) before the time of GEJ, and will likely continue long after he is gone. Blood letting in the North is becoming more a less a cultural and religious practice. Let me again enjoin those who must live in Northern Nigeria, especially in the terrorist enclave, to be extra vigilant at all time, and undertake specific protective and defensive measures against defensible attacks. |
He should spend more time tackling the Islamic terrorists that are killing innocent civilians in the North rather than talking. If SE wishes to retaliate no amount of talking will stop us. We are just too mature for these sort of terrorist antics. The army should send more soldiers to the North. These terrorists must be wiped out! |
It sad that this barbarism keeps happening every now and then. I strongly urge our people to be vigilant at all time, and take extra measure to protect and defended themselves, if they must be in the strife torn part of the country. My condolence to the family of those who lost loved ones. |
sheyie2007: Okpe! They're not submitting exam papers.. its a summit * s u m m i t * SUMMITlol, my bad. Noted. Corrected. |
Stup.id and idi.oitic heading and sensationalism. A Priest and Muslim trader from Maiduguri now equate to Igbos? Such lies can only be forged in the mind of bigoted a Nairalander! |
Rochas is certainly not the best foot Igbo can put forward, but if he is the one Nigerian will accept so be it. But I won't be supporting any ticket that has Buhari as the Presidential candidate? Why always Buhari? |
