obailala: So you agree with what the Op has stated? Put in another context, why did it take the duara dullard ages to make a list of ministerial nominees, only to have it replete with same old and tired politicians with substantial corruption cases etc dangling around them? Yet, we are to accept that a thorough job was done. Thorough must have a new meaning! |

HungerBAD: Interesting Critique.
But, what advice or deed have you contributed to Nigeria that can make her great? You guys just bunch together in one corner and look for faults.
Now proffer one sensible way forward. That's his prerogative. On the other hand, the duara dullard has plethora of special advisers, and if he prefers Ministers whose job it is to proffer sensible way forward. The Op raised a valid concern though, what the point of 'thoroughness' when end product is fraught with several of same or similar defect as previous ones? Buhari doesn't seem to know what he's doing, and those around him are proving nothing but bunch of incompetent sods! |

luvmijeje: My happiness is seeing Fashola on that list. The gentleman is just too good to be relegated. Nigerians deserve to feel the impact of the guy.
When someone is good, let us say it...... Fashola is good. Indeed no one can dispute that Fashole is good, especially in anything not concerning money. Here is a glowing tribute of the goodness of Saint Fashole, by haters like Punch!
Fashola spent N139m on two boreholes – LASG August 24, 2015 : Eniola Akinkuotu

Mr. Babatunde Fashola
Mr. Babatunde Fashola
The immediate past Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, spent N139m on the drilling of two boreholes at the Lagos House, Ikeja.
The project was completed by Deux Projects Limited according to a report published by the state government
The report, which was part of the awarded contracts by the Lagos State Tenders Board in 2013, was seen on the website of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency.
In the same year, N640m was spent by the Fashola administration for the reconstruction of a car park and other associated works at the Lagos House, Marina. The report stated that the N640m contract was given to Julius Berger Plc as part of phase two of the reconstruction of Lagos House where Fashola lived during his eight years in government.
In the same year, N300m was spent on the relocation of cables belonging to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. The contract was awarded to Deux Projects Limited.
According to the report, the former governor also spent N175m to replace the railings of a pedestrian bridge on Carter Bridge from Ido to Idumota with concrete railings. The contract was awarded to A Abicon Engineering Limited.
According to the report, N220m was spent on the facility management of the Lagos State University College of Medicine. The contract was awarded to Deux Projects Limited.
The former governor, according to the report, spent N619m on surface repair on Ajara-Erekiti-Iragon-Ikoga Road in Badagry Local Government.
According to the report, Fashola spent N1.2bn on the construction of an unidentified multi-storey building in Onikan, Lagos.
The former governor was also said to have spent N1.6bn on the construction of a 48-bedroom hotel at Lagos State VIP Chalets, Badagry. ADVERTISEMENT
About N510m was spent on the remodelling and equipping of the official residence of the state’s Chief Judge at 4 Thompson Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos, according to the report.
About N165m was spent on the construction of an 18-classroom block at Ajara Senior Grammar School, Ajara Badagry. The same amount was also spent on an 18-block classroom at Community Senior/Junior Secondary School, Bayeku, Ikorodu.
Fashola had recently come under fire for spending N78.3m of taxpayers’ money on his website, tundefashola.com.
Although the figures were published on the official website of the state government, the former governor said all the monies were duly approved by the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency.
Fashola, in a six-page letter, stated that the website of the state government was authentic.
He, however, warned against attempt by some persons to tarnish his good image and misrepresent his budgetary spending to the members of the public.
All attempts to speak with Fashola’s spokesperson, Hakeem Bello, proved abortive as he did not pick calls neither did he respond to a text message sent to his telephone. http://www.punchng.com/news/fashola-spent-n139m-on-two-boreholes-lasg/Now that's GOODNESS! |

“. You will recalled that in year 2000 in Oke Ogun area of Oyo state, the fulani herdsmen and farmers had a major clash which led to a strong delegation from Arewa consultative forum to storm the office of the office of the then Governor Lam Adesina in a rowdy and angry manner on behalf of fulani . Even when they try to sound tough, fear managed to creep in. Why this half-truth. Why is it difficult to state in unequivocal terms that the delegation was led by a certain General Mohammadu Buhari, who happens to be the current president of Nigeria, by active support of Yorobars! For the benefit of those who didn't know the detail, here it is: How Lam prevented another civil war’ - The Nation November 18, 2012 Written by Yusuf Alli, Abuja • Ex-CPS recalls the late gov’s encounter with Buhari
But for the maturity and wisdom of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lam Adesina, Nigeria could have been plunged into a second civil war.
A former Chief Press Secretary to the late Governor, Chief Kehinde Olaosebikan, yesterday said in Abuja that a conflict between Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani would have thrown the country into another war.
He told our correspondent that a former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, had led a combative delegation of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) to meet Adesina in 2000 in his office.
According to him, “Precisely on the 13th of October, 2000, former military Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, in company with former Military administrator of Lagos State, General Buba Marwa, had led a heavy team of Arewa Consultative Forum in a combative mood to the office of the governor in protest against the alleged killings of over 69 Fulani cattle herders in Saki Area of the state.
“General Buhari whose arrival to the Secretariat complex was preceded by scores of lorry loads of Hausa men and boys said pointedly at the executive council chambers of Oyo State that his team came to meet the governor to seek reasons why the people of Saki should not be dealt with for killing Fulani herdsmen. He did not stop at that, Gen Buhari accused Governor Lam Adesina of complicity in the killings and using his position as governor to pervert justice.
He quoted the former Head of State as accusing the former governor of shielding the culprits. According to the General, they therefore wanted immediate stoppage of the killings, justice and compensation for the mass killings of the Fulanis or vengeance across the country.
Olaosebikan added: “As weighty, indicting and provocative as the General’s allegations were against the governor, Alhaji Lam Adesina remained unperturbed as he only fired back with his own well-coordinated arsenals in form of refined strategy, robust explanations and effective engagements.
“Lam Adesina identified all the points raised by the General and simply asked the heads of the organisations directly involved to respond.”
He quoted Lam Adesina as saying: “ Before I thank you for this visit, you have come to tell me something, I also want to tell you something and that something is to make an appeal. General Buhari has been a former Head of State, Brigadier Marwa has governed Lagos for some time and with credibility… so you are national leaders of this country. Even though, by accident of birth, you are from the North, so you can be born anywhere, may be next time when I am coming to the world I will be born in the North or the South South.’
He attributed the manner in which frayed nerves calmed to the level-headedness of the late governor, thus preventing what could have led to another civil war. Iykopee: This yoruslaves people dom suffer for their own land. Igbos buying up their lands while fulanis kidnap them with alacrity. This is double jeopardy. At least an Igboman would have offered millions of Naira to buy Chief Olu Falae's farm, and he would have been happier with the exchange. But not the fulani herdmen, who came with daggers and guns, dragged the old man on the hard rocky and gritty floor, and then hold him captive for days in tortuous circumstance. And to rub salt on injury, asked for even much more money than what the Igboman would have offered the unfortunate Chief for his farm in exchange for his life. Now between the generous Igboman, and the dangerous fulani, confused Yorobars would still wish harm upon the Igbo, and lie prostrate before the Fulani! Looks to me that the Yorobars worldview is warped!! |

Shymm3x: Not just Fulani - Fulani and Igbo question.
These two pikey groups are too problematic and they are both taking advantage of the meek Yorubas. It is unacceptable. Igbos don't attack or kill their friends or neighbors, we only out-compete them. Personally, I think that's fair and proper way of doing things. Yoruba should quit their petty jeolousy of Igbos, and face those who sacks, kidnap and butcher them on their own turf. We are talking about the assault, kidnap, and molestation, torture, dehumanisation of Chief Olu Falae whose sin was daring to question incursion of herdsmen who ravaged his livelihood. Now that he's breached his abductors' gag order, what happens next? What if they come back?? |

Aigbofa: Very apt reply from a typical ibo coward. My people will say " Ai le ja lo nje won o bi mi nile yi" It is only when you are too cowardly to fight that you make excuses like "If only I was born in this town" Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere. Dumb ass ibos. I bet this logic doesn't apply in the kidnap, torture, and dehumanisation of Chief Olu Falae. Yorobar indeed truly live in fear and trepidation of Hausa/Fulani. I now understand why the prominent Chief Olu Falae, their most recent victim, call Yorobars slaves in their own homes! |

Aigbofa: If I could remember correctly Akaluka was not beheaded by the ISIS, he was killed by the same type of characters who kidnapped Falae. So, Akaluka's life was less important because he was never a finance minister? Isn't it clear that our value systems are different? Yoruba are not like you this is probably why we will never see anything the same way. Talking of gra gra, hundreds of thousands of Ibos have died in the hands of hausa Fulani and they have all died unavenged. That is the truth. Actually, and in all honesty all animals are equal, but some are more equal than the other. And that I believe is why the Yorobar have "Abobaku" as part of their 'value' (or valueless) system, and other tribes don't! I believe, scores if not hundreds of yorubas are also butchered as collateral in the hands of same fulani during those madness. But since they are collateral, they don't get mentioned. I know, yeah, it's Yorobar "different value system"! |
