Slurity: ISLAM IS A BIG PROBLEM TO HUMANITY. I AM ONE A MUSLIM TO KNOW THAT. I AM 100% CONVINCE THAT WITH ISLAM ON EARTH, PROBLEM WILL BE FAR LESS. CAN YOU IMAGING, BRINGING THE MENTALITY, MAKING A LAW TO FORCE PEOPLE TO MARRY MORE WIVES EVEN WHEN THE RELIGION ITSELF DID NOT FORCE ANYBODY. IT SHALL NOT BE WELL WITH WHOEVER THAT INTRODUCE ISLAM TO MY FAMILY ANCESTORS.
rinzaugustine: that’s the problem of Nigeria it keeps worse everyday in the early 80s most European companies had their companies in Nigeria . Nothing like tokunbo. My dad bought his two cars 504 and beetle with water proof on seats every thing new but by 92/93 he bought his next car as tokunbo Mercedes product. Nigeria always had bad leaders but Babangida was the worst. I remember under him prices of things sky rocketed in the market, many foreign companies like bata where my dad got school shoes for us left, Uk cancelled the free visa to Nigerians under him, a lot of Nigerians including professors starting escaping to Europe and America, mushroom banks that collect people’s deposit and vanish due to his policy, he was killing journalists too who write about him with his devil and power hungry wife Maryam. Babangida is the worst president of Nigeria and did most damage than any other president
You know, I agree with you. Something happened to Nigeria under Babangida. It was precisely durring his rule that Nigeria's catastrophic downfall started. Some rulers are just bad luck. Let's hope BAT is good luck
jonnywest22: As someone who works in recruitment in Canada, please don't try to relocate with a visitor visa,it will be very difficult to change your status, especially during this time of the year.i would say you should take up the Nigerian job,and then visit Canada during the summer time. The job market slows down during this time of the year(winter),so to get a company to sponsor you, will be the most difficult thing as there are thousands of people looking for Lmia right now in Canada.
Thanks for your sincere input About same advice all on in the know are giving me. But I already have my ticket and the ground is burning under my feet. I am leaning towards NOT heeding this advice
NuCypher: Guy, you don't have a work visa. What you have is a visit visa. Stay your a.ss in Nigeria and visit when you are on vacation from your 500k job.
Actually the 500k is probationary, to quickly double and more. Still, I lean towards leaving - now!
Mcslize: Did you say you don't have permit to work in Canada? The decision is easy then. Pls I withdraw my previous advice. Don't bother going to Canada if you know you don't have the right to work.
I thought you got PR. Stay back and take the job. I didn't know you were going as temporary visitor.
Please stay back o. I can only advise you to go if you have work permit. Better stay back and accept the 500k job.
Actually the 500K is probationary, to rise exponentially, but I'm leaning towards leaving as the ground is burning under my feet
SPAMBOX7: Since you are into tech you will be a hot cake in Canada. If I were you I would move to Canada. 500k is $500 now. You can make times 15 of that as tech guy in Canada per month. Multiply by your visa validity then you know wassup.
I honestly want to go now despite I hate cold, but people in the know advise caution and delay. By the way the 500k is probationary, to quickly become 1m then 1.5
Shaunscot: You didn't say what your status will be in Canada. PR, Student, Work Permit.
That said, if it's a legal relocation here's my advise.
See if you can do the Naija job remotely and then move down.
Stay with your friend but keep earning the Naira. 500k Naira is only CAD 650 and while it won't solve much of your Canadian bills, it will help considering you have a friend providing accommodation. Do this until you can get your first Canadian job and settle down fully.
Have you been reading the thread? I have TRV. Visitor visa and as I said severally, the 500K is probationary and will quickly rise to 1m. I have to travel. I must travel somewhere
Anwons: Consider your age, likely amount you are going to earn in Canada and expenses of naija(with 500k) and that of Canada.
The 500K is probationary and will quickly rise to 1m. All in all, after watching the videos and considering I hate cold, Naija is actually better - but for the corruption and shody services
CaptainFM1: If you are asking for my experience, I will give you freely. I've travelled all the continents of this world. I can tell you for a fact that one thing is common in the world. Yes it's money.
It doesn't matter where you get it as long as it's legit. Once you get it, you can even travel to the moon or deep down the bottom of the ocean to see the relics of Titanic.
Ecclesiastes 10:19!
As for the cold, you're not the only one that hate cold. Cold and snow in particular gets in the way of everything. Even the citizens of the country where they get extreme cold and snow don't like the weather. Their super rich travels to Africa or Middle East (Dubai and co) during winter.
Again, you can see it boils down to money.
😁Ajala the traveler, you're right - it boils down to money. Even the video below, the lady left Canada because of money stress. If there were only a way one can earn in Cana and spend in Naija . As for cold, it's not just that I loathe it - cold weather here in Nigeria actually gives me headache and sinuses!
chaiks: struggle for what? I think the Canadian society offers a good opportunity than Nigeria even if you want to hustle. By the way, go now that immigration is a bit easy. By next year , it might get harder
My visa is multiple entry, 6 months at a time till expiration of my passport. I have to go. Though, I wonder what sours people there about the place
Buzx: You'll go through hell, bro. That "hustle" is probably cash jobs. You can't keep up with that. Take the job offer in Nigeria, while you plan towards getting a proper visa.
That's what I'm told but I don't think I can bear not traveling NOW. At least a little bit of travel - my itchy feet are that bad!
Buzx: It's not easy to get a job not to talk of LMIA. That's a huge uncertainty. He's better off with this job offer in Nigeria until he gets a proper visa.
All in the know, this is their advice - without even knowing that the 500k salary is probationary and will quickly go up to 1m. But my heart is already in Caca
Skyview01: I have experienced both. 12years in Canada and presently in Nigeria. The heat is honestly too much and i don't know how people sleep without an AC in Nigeria. I for sure would not be able to sleep.
Thing is, Nigerian cold weather gives me headaches and catarrh. Heat doesn't. I loathe cold weather. It's a big part of it
Wujio: Smh. Village people and liking to cause confusion. They waited for him to finish his Canada moves by first wasting his financial reserve and then leaving him in a state of dilemma. Smh
Santa2: Based on the assumption you are under 30 , write IELTS and get in the Pool for Express entry, while applying for schools for further studies. Use your job and save for plan for relocation. Its not a race but a maraton, How you relocate is very important, going and doing all those under the table jobs and not having right to work can put kill your canadian dream. PLAN WELL! PLAN WELL!!. While you are on visit visa, you can make trips to canada and connect with companies that can sponsor you. They allow it for now, though I do no think this would last for long.
Thank you very much for your very sincere and thoughtful advice. That's also about the advice I get from people actually there and those in the know. But you do understand I already have my plane ticket and already have in my head ideas and dreams centered around Cana
MT: I don't see a dilemma here. Your type of visa wont allow you to do the kind of job you seek. If you go to Canada on the basis of that visa, you wont be employed in tech.
You need to be REALISTIC in order not to lose all. When I say all, I mean being stuck in Canada illegally AND not being able to practice your craft.
This is the time NOT to allow your emotion to be ahead of your rational thinking. Stop listening to individuals whose experience of plane is by just seeing it flying in the sky. It is your life, handle it well.
This is what all in the know are advising, but I already have my ticket and serious itchy feet, then there's village people!
elbulk: Do this job for a while and save as much as you can since you already have a visa. Even if you have a place to stay, you need a good amount to keep yourself out there.
That's what people already there advice, also people in the know. But I honestly don't think I can do it. Canada is already too interwoven in my thinking. Not just Canada, but Canada NOW!
Intrepid01: It is obvious that most of the stories on Nairaland are false. Like which company in Nigeria gives a car to a staff that earns meager #500k? Do you know that for a standard organization that is truly buoyant anyone earning #500k is below an Assistant Manager level? So who offers a car as part of benefit to someone below that level?
My friend read and think well sometimes b4 you comment or someone may call you and idiotic mumu. As I've said severally the salary is probationary and quickly goes to 1m then I.5. And there ARE 500K jobs that come with car allowance or company car. You don't know anything
If you start working on side hustle, you can negotiate with your boss for hand to hand cash to avoid the tax deduction or open a bank dollar account here in Nigeria before moving so that they can pay you into the account to avold the tax deduction
If you get sack in Nigeria, there is no more job for you but if you get sack in Canada you will go outside and work till you get a new job
Boss use your head 500k is $500, for side hustle job you will get if you are serious and ready to work you can earn more than $3000-4000 monthly for side hustle job without you paying tax , if you can pack shift wella
You can now use that money to invest in Nigeria in real estate in Lagos be wise boss
Nigeria is getting worst every day
I wish I was in your opportunity, I will not even think twice, I will move out because you have family there that can get you side hustle job before arriving
If it's kitchen job take it and hustle your life up
Kitchen job would earn you more money than 500k in a month
RapportNaija: You'll stay back in Nigeria because of 500 USD? What's wrong with you?
Tech oh, tech that could pay you $3,000-10,000 pee month remotely - just because you're based in Canada!
Omo!
My prospective hosts over there and other people in the know are the ones advising delay, which I loathe - village people and all. I don't think you folks watched this video below. Also, as I've said severally, the salary quickly goes to 1m, then 1.5
directonpc: If the visa you're going with allows you to work (it's not a tourist visa) you should be able to work tech hubs if you already have the skills and experience.
It is a TRV, a visitor visa, said that right at the begining!
ecdcyber: You are on visitor visa!!! DO NOT try to come to Canada, you cannot do anything! Please embrace your job in Nigeria, save money and plan to come to Canada either as pr or study
Actually if it were just 500k I won't hesitate. It's other benefits attached to it.. Plus the salary quickly goes to 1m then 1.5, which I decided not to mention here
Taal17: I'm not sure what your dilemma is really. You have a job offer in Nigeria and you wanna hope on crystal ball for Canada All you have is Canadian visit visa..it means nothing. Doesn't give a job, No access to housing, No benefits Nada You can't convert VV to work permits ( and please ignore any info that you can use LMIA yada yada biko).
Tech connections and so what? You're not going there with resident permit so how does that help. You know you can work remote with tech regardless of your location
What hustle? Do you know where you're going. It's Canada..which yeye hustle?
If you wanna visit Canada you can go whenever the heck you want.
What is really biting you gan.. saying you'd have to stay in this job for longer than 2months. So..what's wrong with that? Doesn't the job give vacation time? Did they say you can never go on leave? They are even providing housing , etc
It is coming across as if if you don't travel now life go quench.
Honestly, @bolded is actually how I feel, the ground is burning under my feet. But even my prospective hosts over there advice delay, which I'm not sure I can handle
