When I see Ford Pathfinder, Explorer, Edge, Focus, Fusion, Taurus & F150 on the road, I wonder what the owners would go through when the motor start its madness.
Funny enough, some of these Ford brands i see on the road looks new/chacha tokunbo.
Is it the interior & the build they fancied or the series of headache the car would subject them to that lured them?
Boss seems like u know about Ford a lot... Please! Is Harrison Ford related to Henry Ford grin just asking for a friend

Your request has nothing to do with Ehailing and I will not help.
The case left me dumb, like did she trade business with an unknown person, no face, no address or 3rd party. Mrs/Miss NPF is there for a reason. Honestly I would have love to help, but it's far beyond my judiciary to take the law into my hands.

Everybody should just know including owners, driver owners and drivers that this is the usual phase this business normally go through. Patience and endurance is what it takes everything will be back to normal.
Sure everything will balance with time and the work from home is not even helping.

I just dey imagine how much people wey get partners dey make for themselves after remittance, and how many long hours they have to drive.
It is well bro
It's life, everything must surely come to an end someday, just make the memories worth it a s what's next should always cross one mind time after time. One fact I can't overlook about transportation business is the fact that it is an essential business and the cash is there, only if one can master the trade very well. You don't have to be the one driving, but no one can place a cat as dog to u, cos you've been thro the process and know what is obtainable... so see this period as IT.

About driver/partner... from November to December some drivers where able to make 900k and if their delivery money on rental is 25k, that's 200k that the partner will b receiving from the 900k. Assuming he spent 170k on PMS, he will be having 530k to himself, while the partner is still meant to cough out money for repair from his/her 200k. Who's the sheep or the goat here? Or we have to neglect this cos we r in winter? The business is about peak and off peak period, the basic thing is learning how to save in other to strike balance and keep the relationship floating. No gesture of offence, I come in peace.

OJURONGBE1:
I'm not a veteran but i can advise you a little based on my 6months Ehailing experience.

Take time to study how to use Google map .

Always say a prayer before you set out as early as 6am to target people going to work (except you stay on the island where Ehailing trips are guaranteed anytime of the day). Please, don't chauffeur more than 1passenger at night and don't stay out late all the time. Whatever you do till 8pm should be enough unless it's festivity & public holidays.

Expect some verbal insults, silly gestures & mockery from girls your siblings age.
Expect Agbero & omo ita to accuse you allegedly of parking in their zone (Yaba, surulere, Ebutte metta, Oyingbo etc) Don't lose guard. Be vigilant at Mile 12, Eko bridge ( at night), Mile 2( at night). They Rob people off their possession in these axis.

Somolu, Yaba & Lagos island have many one way routes. Always ask your riders if they're acquainted with the road that leads to their destination, so you could use their help to navigate.

Don't beat the traffic on 3MB to link ikoyi-osborne bridge, Marina & Awolowo road, Lastma officials are always seated somewhere looking for who would fall victim. Don't beat traffic light & Stop signs too.

Notify your riders on your preferred mode of payment. If they offer you bank transfers, wait till you get your credit alert before they alight from your car or discharge their goods.

Eat well, drink a lot of water and have some orbitgums in your car. Don't listen to people who say spending 1000 naira is too much to feed yourself on a daily. Please, patronize pie Xpress at Chicken republic wink. They make sweet & cheap pies.

Sign up on the 3 Ehailing Apps ( Bolt, Uber & InDriver). It gives you options.

When you take a trip to the Airport' drop off zone', immediately your driver alight, drive far away from the airport or use the parking lot if you want a trip out. No go dey do suegbe for airport, dem go sama you billing like Eyinola grin

Don't forget 'Grooming', the way you look says alot about your hygiene. Learn to take a day off to relax, exercise and brainstorm on your next line of work. You can't drive Uber forever.

Your best bet as at now is 10-13k gross on weekdays and 12-20k on weekends.
Make sure you check this space at least once a week to read about Drivers experience. You can chip in your daily experience too and we would have a good laugh about it and give you koboko if you err.

Hope to read from you soon. wink
Boss come back nah, I still believe u can make some tin good out of this game

Yeah, that's true. I would never advice anyone to use fake parts on a car. But the whole discussion is about Chinese parts dominating the original, and it's largely because of our economic predicament

I remember when GIGM rebranded. They were using Toyota Hiace and Mercedes Sprinter buses. Today, na China bus full their park.

Haulage companies used to use Man, Iveco and Scania (Brand new). Today, they all have Howo, Shacman and Jac in their fleet.

If Uber drivers buy only Original parts for their vehicles, a lot of us would drop this hustle because it wouldn't be worth it.

An original Goodyear tyre is about #40000 in the US (excluding shipping). Imagine buying four and then one gets damaged because of bad roads.....

Nigeria problem follow for why people dey choose China everyday
At bolded grin you just remind me of PMT buses that flood their Owerri park..

Nigeria is a poor country, and most of its population would pick affordability first, before durability

Check the price for brake pads in the USA. I'm very sure that almost everybody here would prefer to pay the normal #2500 to #3000 than spend $29 or $55 (excluding shipping) for it.

I remember a particular part I had for sale. I had the original (someone brought it from Germany) and I had the China own.

The original was #20,000 while the Chinese was #7,000. In the past four months, I have sold the Chinese version back to back, but only one man bought the original (after much convincing)

Imagine if I decided to make my livelihood on only selling that original part. I'm sure I'll be in my village now

You're right about having fake parts though
Boss I completely go with you points, but I feel one of our major problem is awareness and mindset, barely anyone I share oil matter with, doesn't go with my point of view (they just laff it off grin).I remember this woman that came to buy Dextron 2 while at the filling station, the fact that she was trying to get 2 litres drew my attention and the "Amebo" in me was force to ask her, hope she's not trying to top over used oil? There goes the story... ehn! It's my late husband that used to get all these things. So I asked, what brand of oil do you have in the car before? I don't even know. Make of car? Toyota Camry. Madam take that car to an expert and let them do their work, but be ready to cough out 16k for oil at least... she looked at me with a straight eyes, like 16k for oil? Do I even know what am saying cheesy well! I've passed my service to humanity to her, the rest is her own cross to carry. I use the conventional oil on my car for now, and it is plainly due to ignorance. When God bless me with another, I obviously won't be trying that.

On issue of fake products, I won't patronise anyone that uses fake stuff to fix car for me, even if it is due to my ignorance, you should be able to convince me. My mech like a brother knows that and they are things he doesn't do... he won't hit the 3k5 hub for clients, he tells them to seek elsewhere. My first mech will change pad and all the rims will b so dusty after a day drive, the noise when steping on break makes me sick. I feel some folks are willing to buy original, but trusting the system is another thing. I once bought a kick for 13k, just to find out it is 8k elsewhere. Cheat hurts, but I let go of 5, 6k as long as you are giving me something that worth it. All in all, I'm not really into perception, just do what works for you and the brand you want to be known for.

I don't know much about China, but I think it's best to go complete your mission and leave. Living in a communist country like China can be something else, they regulate almost everything there.

I have been awol for a while and catching up. It amuses me when you guys consider the cost of an engine when purchasing cars. No one worries about that here because it's not often an engine gets changed. It's only in Nigeria I've seen engine become part of routinely changed part.

PROPER MAINTENANCE WITH RIGHT FLUIDS AND YOU SHOULD REALLY GET 250-400K MILES OUT OF YOUR ENGINE DEPENDING ON THE BRAND. Even with conventional oil. We don't all put synthetic in cars overseas. Nigerians are always changing engine because of penny wise pound foolish mentality.

There only things to consider when buying a car for me are purpose of use, reliability, gas consumption, and comfort for purpose of use. I guarantee if you buy a car, let me do the initial inspection and routine maintenance, you will get 300k or more out of your engine and transmission no shaking. In about 30 years I have only had to change an engine once and that was because of bad oil. Also in 30 years the only major repair I have had is changing an ac compressor once and two oxygen sensor once. I have never changed anything else on a car except for brake pads. I tire for Nigerians.
I speak regarding that Honda evil spirit and not in general, like I pointed out about the guy that just gained engine problem from get go of buying a toks across water. On d 31st I pick a rider with his wife and they some wot make it clear to me, about going to buy a car, if I can help them to check, told them no, but I can call a mechanic around the area. The guy test drive four cars and it's just one problem or the other (Toks). I hope we can see this as an understanding chat and probably a room for me to learn.

Most Nigerians don't know about vehicles and we have this mindset mechanics are debious. Are they right? An average Nigerian is debious and anyone living in Lagos or Port Harcourt is expected not to have certain sluggishness or drag attitude in them, so need to check and balance on handling an average Nigerian seem important. On issues of using engine to 250k or 400k, most cars coming into Nigeria are almost DOA (most). Some have already done 280/300, Bishop and d geng will now fine tune it to 83k ( my father is watching them). Secondly, almost every new thing in this country outside cable wires are fake, courtesy of us going to China to demand for low quality as per the strength of our money. It is so bad that one is not sure of the beer or beverage one is consuming again as we have some folks producing these products in their sitting room, from mobile 1 to conventional mobile or any kind of oil moving the market is been refill somewhere in this country, conventional mobile practically dry up in cars now and if one does not carry out proper check before leaving home, that's how pearl1910 will b blowing reserve oil on 3rd mainland bridge to island grin So! in a nutshell, to maintain cars and trust the process in this country? it's either one is buying oil from Dru direct when its due for service or just forget about 100% accuracy, when it comes to taking care off cars with our local products.

As I can't tell d condition of the Honda presently I rest my case... But it won't b advisable to make a profit of 200k after 3 months and use 150k to solve problems, that is hustling backward. I know what my first car use my eyes to see, Just the door handle, I can't get it else where unless Ladipo, even with that "Go ask Obi, u don check Ugo place, if nah Toyota now, I get", the stress just doesn't worth it.

Please I'll like to know, do the vulcanizer's over there use fufu to fix tyre? Just wondering

Now u have moved from price to relativity of rugged. Kontinue.

Sha advise the user if you have any value for him.
Nothing to move here, we r just sharing tots. The last time I checked, the engine is 400k, let's think d eventual where his enemy have to change engine... 400k for engine, 18k for oil, 20k for mech, logistics may consume 10k, that is 450k. Boss this is business, learn to cut cost and maximise profit, if you want to break even.

Last month, I learnt someone I know bought a toks camry from US (1.5 plus clearance), after clearing and time to zoom, car refused to start. In nutshell, he is face with changing the engine, they toll the car from port. So u see why car matter is relative to me.
