Nigerians with their very funny reasoning.
If the constitution says you must appoint 37 ministers, and you appointed 37 minister and paying them.
And you said each of them are equal in status: salaries and all.
Supposing you will allocate different responsibilities to them in the consolidated ministry, what exactly have you achieved?
Each minister would still have his/her house differently, each minister would still have different cars and above all different aids and assistants.
How has this change anything?
If pruning down the workforce is the target, who will be sacked from two different ministries with a similar function?
What criteria would be used; old age, criminal record, forged certificate (remember Buhari himself doesn't have one), redundancy, nepotism, man-know-man, APC membership?
Exactly what is intended with this policy without changing that aspect of the constitution?
When Obasanjo did that and handed over to Yaradua for implementation, he swiftly changed it and cited the constitution. (Many people praising this 'progressive' stunts today may have condemned Obasanjo then)
Ironically, some of the supporters of this funny policy don't see anything wrong with Lagos State expansion of their 20 LGAs to 57 LCDAs (outside the constitution) for 'administrative convenience'. |

What did Osinbajo say that is wrong? Is Nigeria not indebted to the tune of $60 billions as a result of economic mismanagement?
Your defence that the states are equally owing does not exonerate FG from poor management of the economy since it's the same FG that approved all those borrowings (foreign).
And what did the FG do with its own share of the loan?
What did FG do with its huge share of the earnings from crude sale of above $100 per barrel?
How could the FG have been able to caution and shape reckless behaviour of state governments when itself is incapable of judicious management of resources?
PDP led federal government has been a CURSE to Nigeria.

This fuel scarcity is artificial. People/marketers are not sure what GMB will do about fuel subsidy.

I never said emergency declaration does not have legal issues however the president like obj did in plateau can invoke clear and present danger clause. bottom it is the process that can be questioned not whether he had a role to play ab initio. the implication of what the AGF did is that a judge in any state can now be appointed to carry out the functions of judges in another state without recourse to the NJC. he can seat, adjucate and impose sanctions of law as long as he has the backing of the AGF. or is it limited to the oath of office alone because the section says any of the functions. it means the AGF can be the National Assembly, The President and the NJC for the purpose of appointing a judge to carry out the constitutional duties of a chief justice of Nigeria or at state level mutantis mutandis. Barrister Adegboruwa, Buhari is just a scammer.
Imam Buhari has been scamming Nigerians for long.
The way he used that General thing one would think he was a four-star general.
No other two-star general (Major General) in Nigeria has been so elevated by the gullible public as this Imam.
Even very senior military officers who left the army as three star generals like Lt. Gen T.Y. Danjuma, Lt. Gen Alani Akinrinade, Lt. Gen Jerry Useni etc were not elevated by the media and the public to general overnight.
Meanwhile, all other Major Generals are being addressed as such. Even though he correctly refers to himself as Major General, Buhari was not on record anywhere to have corrected the apparent misinformation by his 'worshipers'.
Perhaps it is the guilt that made the Chief Imam give such instruction. He should have corrected them on the 'general' title similarly. |

mandarin: I honestly do not know if those that offered the award to her have in depth understanding of what it means to fight corruption in the developing world. The madam minister can talk about billions of Naira saved through some procedural changes in ways government do its business but those gains were easily eaten up by myriads of other mismanagement (allegedly) seen in the public sphere. The oil subsidy scams running into trillions of Naira under her watchful eyes as de-facto Prime Minister (named Coordinating Minister of the Economy), missing billions of dollars from the treasury of government due to non remittance of incomes by the Government owned corporation under her watch and that of her colleague oil Minister Madam and various grafts exposed in the outgoing regime. If she had performed this way in the United States would Yale celebrate her this way? By this it is easy for us to accept that the first world countries encourage graft and mediocrity in Africa and are not in a hurry to see the continent develop. This is a country where 7 out of every 10 able and agile workforce do not have profitable employment and over 40% depend on relatives, a country where parents still provide feeding for 30 years old graduate degree holders and public domestic debts almost tripled in five years in spite of oil income that ran into several billion dollars without any infrastructural progress to show for it. If what Okonjo did is what American Universities teach(I know that's not true anyway) then Nigeria had better look for graduates from local institutions to fix its problems. I think Yale, a prestigious University, ran into a colossal error over this action. I simply delete this school from my likes without wait. Direct your grievance at Yale University management. Tell them they are either fools or they made a mistake.
