Did Buhari not say Nigeria was being degraded because Jonathan sought the cooperation of the regional countries against the bastard terrorists? Shame! |
This whole drama would have been prevented if proper hand over process was followed. |
Yes, he can appoint 18 ministers today and sack all of them tomorrow, then appoint another 18 tomorrow. He would have fulfilled the provisions of the constitution as amended by Festus Keyamo. Wishful thinking and some academic mastubation. Later they will come and argue that 2 or 3 states can share 1 governor just because the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State swore-in the governor of Rivers State. If now that at least a minister is appointed from each state of the federation, Lagos State is at the forefront of rejecting a particular minister as not representative of their state; If in the current dispensation, someone who married in another state is being rejected as not a true representative of her husband's state; If now, that some "big" states are contesting why their representative ministers are not allocated to "juicy ministries" Then what will happen, when Prof. Festus Keyamo's "BIG BANG THEORY" of 5 states per 1 minister is experimented, can only be imagined. The military did not appoint 1 minister per state, how did that solve their corruption problems then? Be reminded, that the guy you are trying to encourage to trample on the Nigeria's constitution is a master of that game. Left to him, he would throw away the constitution and start using Sharia; he once suspended the constitution and has not hidden his preference for Sharia as the supreme law for the country. It is better you just go straight to the point. But when Buhari start to show his true color and bu.....t Nigeria's constitution, we know who baited him. |

GoodGovernance:The joke is on you, fraudster, for editing my post and standing logic on its head. Where did Imam Buhari say he won't make his assets declaration public before 30 days? Garba Shehu who speaks for Imam Buhari did not mention public declaration after 30 days, he said the Imam has done what he is required to do and directed anyone interested to invoke the FOI Act. This is contrary to what the Imam himself said as a candidate. Where did you get your 30 day verification period? Can you post the link here for everyone to see? Your reputation is at stake, if you continue to distort my post it will confirm your dishonesty and chicanery. Duplicitous people like you don't have any scruples about forgery. |
amakasul:When did Jonathan refuse to declare his assets as Buhari just did? Do you have an understanding of this issue at all? Assets declaration is compulsory for all public and civil servants. Jonathan would not have refused to declare his assets and still be president. What he didn't do was to make it public which Buhari promised he would do but has so far not done. That is what they are talking about. Do you understand now? |
billyG:Oh, he has 3 houses now suddenly? Didn't you guys say he has 2 house initially? Meanwhile, Imam Buhari said he would make the asset declaration public. He never said he would ask citizens to invoke the FOI to access it. |
sammyj:His vice president has been using the court to prevent close scrutiny of his assets. |
fako1:Yaradua official/secret declaration was not made public before his public declaration. There's no law that says he can't make it public immediately. Yaradua's media aid did not ask anyone to access the information, he simply ordered it published. Yaradua started making his assets public when he was governor of Katsina State. Shame! |
SERAP urges Buhari, Osinbajo to make assets public The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to promptly make public the details of their declared assets. The group made the request in a statement issued by its Executive Director, Adetokunbo Mumuni, on Sunday in Lagos. The rights advocacy group said the public declaration of their assets would be consistent with Buhari and Osinbajo’s anti-corruption credentials and their promises to the electorate. It said the request followed the declaration of assets last week by the president and his vice to the Code of Conduct Bureau as required by the Constitution. The group said: “we welcome the official declaration of assets by the president and the vice-president. This clearly complies with the requirements of the Nigerian Constitution as contained in Chapter 6 Section 140. “However, the declaration before the Code of Conduct alone falls far short of the commitment to publicly declare their assets. “SERAP recalls that the president said before the election that he would publicly declare his assets and liabilities, and encourage all his appointees to publicly declare their assets and liabilities as a pre-condition for appointment. “We now expect the president to fulfil this promise to the Nigerian people. “We trust that the president and vice-president will move swiftly to publicly declare their assets and to publish widely the information on a dedicated website.’’ According to SERAP, public disclosure of assets will give the general public a true picture of Buhari and Osinbajo’s assets and will send a powerful message that it is not going to be business as usual with this government. It said the move would follow the best practices as laid down by late President Umaru Yar’Adua and boost government’s fight against corruption and impunity of the perpetrators. “We believe that public disclosure of assets is crucial in ensuring that public officials’ personal interests including those of the president and vice-president, as the leaders of the nation, do not conflict with their duties and responsibilities. “Public disclosure also helps to provide a baseline and means for comparison to identify assets that may have been corruptly acquired, so that a public official may legitimately be asked to account for,” SERAP added. The group then called for amendments in the laws relating to declaration of asset to include the requirement of public disclosure to ensure it was in line with international standards such as the UN Convention against Corruption. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/184102-serap-urges-buhari-osinbajo-to-make-assets-public.html |
rhymz:My brother you are just elevating their sick minds by referring to this wishy-washy defense as sophistry. It is nothing more than lies from the pit of hell. These people are like their Boko Haram counterpart in their support for their god. There's nothing they won't do to support their creator. If his vice president, a Pastor in RCCG, could lie openly to make him look good among his Christian people, what do you expect from people who have been promised 25,000 monthly by Buhari? Did people not see Buhari on NTA when he said he was broke and had to raise a loan through his bank to purchase his party's nomination form? Was it not discussed on Facebook and other media then? Did radio and television not report it? Did Buhari not know about the process of asset declaration when he made the promise to make his own public even though he is not legally required to so do? They are trying to be clever but they have not even started the process. They are only making a fool of themselves. After using the same Facebook to spread all their lies about 150 cows, N1m cash balance, they are now blaming "Facebook" for requiring Imam to fullfil his promise of public asset declaration. Can you imagine the low the country is going with Buhari's worshipers. No shame, not an iota sense of guilt. Can you even imagine that an organization called a Code of Conduct Bureau will be gazetting information in its custody and make it public in 30 days? Will the bureau also gazette the assets of all the civil and public servants in Nigeria? Do they not know that it's not only the president's and the vice president's record that are handled by the bureau? Buhari's presidency is built of bloodshed, propaganda and LIES... To sustain it is what they will soon find out is practically impossible in Nigeria of 2015. |
I will declare my assets publicly –Buhari Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), said he would publicly declare his assets and liabilities, if voted into power. Buhari stated this in a document obtained by our correspondent in Abuja on Thursday. The document highlights what Buhari will do in his first 100 days if he assumes power on May 29. He said he would encourage political appointees in his administration to also declare their assets publicly. If the APC candidate keeps to his promise, he will be the second Nigeria’s President to publicly declare his assets. The late President, Alhaji Umaru Yar’Adua, also from Katsina State as Buhari, was the first and the only Nigeria’s President to have publicly declared his assets when he assumed office. This action forced his then deputy, who is now the President Goodluck Jonathan, to also make his assets declaration forms available to the public. However, since he assumed office as the substantive President, Jonathan has refused to make the forms available to the public, saying that he did that when he was serving as deputy to Yar’Adua. Asked during a media chat whether he would consider declaring his assets publicity, the President refused, saying he did not give a damn. But Buhari, in the document titled, “I pledge to Nigeria” also said that all his political appointees would only earn salaries and allowances as prescribed by the Revenue and Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission. He said, “I pledge to publicly declare my assets and liabilities, encourage all my appointees to publicity declare their assets and liabilities as a pre-condition for appointment. “All political appointees will only earn the salaries and allowances determined by the RMFAC.” While pledging to personally lead the war against corruption in the country, Buhari also said that he would inaugurate the National Council on Procurement as stipulated in the Procurement Act. He added that the Federal Executive Council, which he said had been turned to a weekly session of contract bazaar, would be made to concentrate on its principal function of policy making. He said that he would also work with the National Assembly towards the immediate enactment of a Whistle Blower Act. On the other ways to strengthen the anti-graft war, he said, “We will work with the National Assembly to strengthen the Independent Corruption Practices and other related Offences Commission and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission by guaranteeing institutional autonomy, including financial and prosecutorial independence and security of tenure of officials. “We will also make the Financial Intelligence Unit of the EFCC autonomous and operational; encourage proactive disclosure of information by government institutions in the spirit of the Freedom of Information Act.” He also promised that his government would work with the leadership of the National Assembly and the judiciary to cut down the cost of governance. On insurgency and insecurity in the country, the former head of state said that he had had the rare privilege of serving the country in the military in various capacities and rose to the rank of a major general and Commander -in -Chief of the Armed Forces, he would defend the integrity of the nation. “I pledge, as Commander-in-Chief, to lead from the front and not behind in the comfort and security of Aso Rock, to boost the morale of fighting forces and the generality of all Nigerians,” he said. On the fate of the kidnapped Chibok girls, Buhari said that as a father, he had been feeling the pain of the victims of insurgency, kidnapping and violence whether “they are widows and orphans of the military, paramilitary, civilians and parents or the Chibok girls. “My government shall act decisively on any actionable intelligence to #BringBack Our Girls.” http://www.punchng.com/news/i-will-declare-my-assets-publicly-buhari/ |

frank043:Adegbe:: President’s last man standing More often, people wonder what exactly is the role of the man who stands studiously behind the President in public, aside providing just security protection. Aide- De-Camp (ADC), as they are referred to in most countries, ordinarily serve as personal assistants to a general officer. The use of Aide-de-Camp is really an age long tradition associated with the military. Nigeria’s present democracy of course, also inherited this system. While the President as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces is entitled to a military officer as ADC, his deputy retains a police personnel in this seemingly enviable position. Typically, the responsibilities of this officer to the President cuts across; providing for the personal well-being and security, and relieving the general officer of routine and time-consuming duties; preparing and organising schedules, activities, and calendars; preparing and executing trip itineraries; coordinating protocol activities; acting as an executive assistant and performing varied duties, according to the general officer’s desires. Colonel Ojogbane Adegbe is the ADC to President Goodluck Jonathan, the last man standing. He is really first among equals but a highly privileged officer in the military who knows where the king’s horse-tail is kept. Combined with his array of duties which are strategic, politicians see him as a powerful source to get the President’s attention. A Mathematician and a holder of a Masters degree in Intelligence and International Security, the strong built soldier is perceived within the military circle as an upright and fine gentleman combined with his ability to pick a needle with a shot. These qualities and military prowess no doubt made him the preferred choice while the search for the C-in-C’s aide de camp was on. As then Lt. Colonel, Adegbe first showed up at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on May 6, 2010 for an interview, the day President Jonathan was sworn in as a substantive President following the death of President Umaru Yar’Adua. Besides criticisms that the President’s use of an ADC under a democratic dispensation is old fashioned, Nigeria is not alone. It is a worldwide tradition that the President’s Aide-de-Camp comes from the military. Indeed, established democracies, and even the dictatorships, adhere to it. One interesting thing is the fact that, the relationship between presidents and their Aide-De-Camps is not different from that between a needle and the thread. As the closest aide to the president, an aide-de-camp has his ears on very important issues. Like obtained in other climes, Col. Adegbe is seen as the third eye of the president as well as his seventh sense. Standing all times on the watch behind the president in public, he cranes his eyes in all direction and in no direction in particular just to observe and give his boss feedback on the general perception about what he does. Aside other security apparatus within the confines of the Presidential Villa such as the Brigade of Guards, men of the Department of State Security, Defence Intelligence, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the ADC and the Chief Security Officer, every last point security for the number one citizen appears to rest on him. One thing which the present Aide De Camp to the President is known for within the Presidential Villa and to anyone who has come in contact with him on the job is his calm, friendly but principled attitude to work. At different public functions, Col. Adegbe in the course of a speech or remark by the President is sometimes seen dropping notes to alert his boss of either an omission or merely to guard him against areas he should not afford to goof. Fortunately for Adegbe, his principal acknowledges these qualities as well. It was therefore not a surprise with the array of top officers and politicians who converged in the President’s office last year, November 11, 2013 when the ADC was decorated with his new rank of a Colonel. Apart from ministers who attended the ceremony, former Chief of Defence Staff, Ola Ibrahim, led other Service Chiefs to the event. The National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) did not fail to attend. President Jonathan was joined by his vice, Namadi Sambo and assisted by the officer’s wife, Oluwabukola, for the decoration. His principal said of him: “I thank the Service Chiefs for finding time to be here in this ceremony. You are a privileged Colonel, otherwise they will not be here.” The President’s remark came during the decoration ceremony of the ADC as colonel. “When you are given higher authority, you are expected to perform according to your status. We hope that whatever you have been doing very well, you will even do more,” the President noted shortly after performing the ceremony. Gallantly, heavy built Adegbe now wears the new rank of a Colonel, what is fondly regarded to as red neck officer. With his senior military rank, the ADC has the only privilege among several other key principal staff of the President and rides in the same limousine, sitting side by side with his boss and discusses important issues at the pleasure of his principal. Adegbe is a 1995 graduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy NDA, Kaduna, a member of the 42 Regular Course. He also attended the Kings College, London where he obtained a Master’s degree. However, as influential as the office of ADC to the president is said to be, occupants of this prestigious office are also at risk. In some countries, they are duty bound to die in the stead of their principal. As a true soldier who is ready to die at his duty post, the ADC must be ready to lie on top of the president or head of state and receive bullets on his behalf. But they say, “you inhale smoke from making fire in the king’s furnace”, while the ultimate goal is to serve, the expectation exist too that the gains of being close to power, come with this distinguished privilege of ADC position which is the reason for the perception of his high influence. http://newtelegraphonline.com/adegbe-presidents-last-man-standing/ |

omisakint:Oga, you kept saying Major, he is a Colonel, his next rank is Brigadier General. If they allow his to stay. Ojogbane is a fine officer through and through. |
@obiagelli You once queried why Mrs Patience Jonathan should have a Nigerian flag behind her. Here's Mrs Aisha Buhari's picture with a flag behind her, what do you have to say? |
thaoriginator:You sure can read but you are afraid. This is salary not budget for food. Do you know the difference though? It's written there that Yaradua started receiving this particular figure after the upward review in 2007. It has always been on that same website. Wait for the budget to be submitted later in the year. You can then come and make your comparison. Just try and be reading okay. Don't believe that witch in your village who said you would die if you read. You won't die. |
InvertedHammer:Civilize people simply exercise there rights in the court. If your character has been defamed by a libelous publication you can take the person to court and claim damages. By advocating violence, hope you are well aware that you don't have the monopoly on beating. If by any chance you enter Ekiti and talking the way you talking and Fayoshe's loyalists swoop on you and beat you to coma how would you feel? |
khaylee:Play at your level next time. If you want to understand a "difficult" subject all you need do is ask. And then it should be good luck and not Goodluck (so you know that some people are that thorough) |
1. Pastor Oshinbajo got a court injunction preventing a documentary on him to be aired. 2. AIT allegedly banned from covering Imam Buhari's activities. 3. Daily Trust Newspaper's reporter beating to coma by suspected APC thugs. 4. ... DEGREE 4? "The Nigerian press is the most vibrant in Africa. My appeal to the media today – and this includes the social media – is to exercise its considerable powers with responsibility and patriotism". - Muhammadu Buhari: 29/05/15 |
khaylee:It is now very clear that you lack basic comprehension but it is alright. So, go back to the first post and re-read. Read it very slowly. Reading won't kill you, so don't be afraid. You can then take your dictionary and look up the meanings of words like extrapolate, growth rate and such words giving you confusion there. Compare your findings with the kindergarten response you posted above. Meanwhile, it's not everyday you see a president getting his country's population figures from "everywhere in the world". Next time don't just jump into what you can't understand. |
khaylee:The proper thing to do is seek for clarity when something is beyond your level next time. From your own assertion: Census figures in Nigeria are not to be trusted. Buhari is the president of Nigeria. Buhari uses Nigeria's census figures to plan for his administration. Buhari shouldn't be trusted. Can you see the result? |
Egbon, that speech is not only illusory and vague it is also very deceitful, disgraceful and dangerous. Imam Buhari said Nigeria's economy is 180 million. 180 million what? Is it 180 million people, dollars, cows or cowries? If we assume he meant 180 million people, how did he come about this figure? How can the president of the country not know how many people he leads? The last population census, conducted in 2006, put the country's population at 140,431,790 The next one is due next year, that is a period of 10 years. Does it now mean that Nigeria's population census figure has already been contrived even before the headcounts? Is it not dangerous to extrapolate a 3.2% annual population growth rate when evidence has shown that with the use of technology, national figures are not exactly as they were recorded at that time? For example, in that same 2006, INEC recorded total number of registered voters as 61, 566, 648. But in 2015, nine years later the INEC recorded 68, 833, 476 (a mere 1.3% annual increase) after having weeded out over four million multiple registrations and fake names from its register with technology. Where are the so-called technocrats who they told us will guide Buhari due to his lack of proper education? Did they misled him with the figure, or did he not vet the speech even with a month-long preparation? How are we sure Buhari is not preparing the ground for Nigeria's money to "go down the drain". For instance, are they not preparing the ground to pad the figures in anticipation of GHOSTS in their so-called welfare programs; cash transfer scheme? Is Buhari's lack of proper education not beginning to show too early or he is trying to be more ingenious in corruption? If APC woke up tomorrow said they have "fed" a certain number of school children, paid 5,000 to another number of poor people and paid 25,000 to so and so number of unemployed graduates, how do we verify, HOW WON'T WE LINK IT WITH THE FIGURE IN THIS SPEECH? |
LadyAmaka:Inaugural ceremony can even be overlooked for such an ultra bitter character like Buhari, What about National assignments that he was under moral obligation to do? The Imam refused to attend the Council of State meetings just because he lost elections. |
