Thanks for your very objective analysis. I agree with your position on all the issues raised. We all need each other to make progress. But there are a lot of injustices in Nigeria that need to be addressed through restructuring. If we fail to restructure, Nigeria will definitely disintegrate. The core North need to jettison this arrogance of thinking that they own the country. I want Nigeria to restructure and remain one big and progressive nation but I'm not optimistic at all. I like that you pointed out that if the Southeast goes, the Southsouth is also going, with their crude oil because some naive folks are thinking that if the Igbos exit, Nigeria will now have more oil revenue to share. |

A lot of misinformation about this Evans guy. Initial story says he is from Nnewi in Anambra State; was into spare parts business, lost #25m to Nigeria Customs, travelled to South Africa to trade in hard drugs and then ran back to Nigeria after being shot by a partner. And then got into kidnapping. Now story changes to him coming from Opi, near Nsukka in Enugu. And getting driving jobs before getting into kidnapping. So which version do we believe? |

Caustics: autojosh spoils business for his brethren. Thank you so much.
the flooded cars. did they really fall inside water? or its something else that makes them misbehave @ AutoJoshNG No they usually don't fall inside water. Some parts of US, especially Florida are prone to extreme weather situations like hurricane that come with massive flooding. A lot of cars get submerged in flood deep enough to affect the engine. Once that happens, the car is gone. It's then written off by insurance and sold for scrap. Then the unscrupulous Nigerian buys it on the cheap, ships to Nigeria, gives it cosmetic repair and sells to unsuspecting buy. Those cars usually look nice inside and outside but they carry loads of problems. I will not even take such cars for free. Before you buy a tokunbo car from US, you should check the car's history from carfax.com. |

abbey621: I'll just show you 3 things wrong here:
1. Civil Case: What Biafrans want is not monetary compensation but criminal prosecution.
2. Extrajudicial killing - Biafrans would have to argue that the protesters were not armed and the use of force was not sanctioned by the present rule of law in Nigeria.
3. They now have to show that they have exhausted all local remedies which means they have tried the judicial system in Nigeria, there are written documentation of nonchalant response from the justice system and so on.
There's a reason why this particular act has never been applied to a democratic government, the burden of proof is exhausting! And you call the present administration a democratic government? |

excanny: The Torture Victim Protection Act of 1991 (TVPA; Pub.L. 102–256 , H.R. 2092 , 106 Stat. 73 , enacted March 12, 1992) is a statute that allows for the filing of civil suits in the United States against individuals who, acting in an official capacity for any foreign nation, committed torture and/or extrajudicial killing . The statute requires a plaintiff to show exhaustion of local remedies in the location of the crime, to the extent that such remedies are "adequate and available." Plaintiffs may be U.S. citizens or non-U.S. citizens.
Although the Act was not passed until early 1992, it was introduced the previous year, and the official name of the Act is the "Torture Victim Protection Act of 1991."
Legal issues In 1992, Sister Dianna Ortiz was the first to file a case under the act, in a civil action against former general and Defense Minister Héctor Gramajo of Guatemala , contending that, by his command authority, he was responsible for her abduction, rape, and torture by military forces in Guatemala in November 1989. A federal court in Massachusetts ruled in her favor, awarding her $5 million in damages in 1995. Thanks for posting this information so some of these morons questioning US court jurisdiction will let us be. |

DanseMacabre: But I don't understand. Will he be repatriated to face trial, or will the trial be in absentia?
And if he's found guilty, will he be repatriated to serve punishment, or will it be here in Nigeria? I am not a Lawyer but this is a civil case on behalf of victims of Nigerian Army brutality. It's not a criminal case. So, no, they will not be extradited or declared wanted. But if Nigeria does not present a defense, then the court will rule against them and they will be liable to pay whatever fine the court sets. However, if it is found that they committed crime against humanity, they can be prosecuted at the ICC at the Hague. In that case it'll be a criminal case and they would be extradited and if found guilty, will be jailed (to join Charles Taylor). |

So that attack on The Young Shall Grow Chairman was a kidnap attempt. They should be sentenced to life in prison and the ones that killed should face death sentence. All those mansions, including the ones in Ghana should be sold and used to compensate the victims. Some of them paid as much as $1m. |

Honestly, when I was on my own I ate day and night at a buka. But when she's married and reality sets in, she would have no choice but to learn.
Besides. I don't think something so trivial as food is enough to cause problems between couples. Food is definitely not trivial. |
Family › Re: Should A Man Agree To Marry A Lady Without Ever Eating Her Food ? by poseidon12: 9:10am On Jun 12, 2017 |
I doubt I would want to have much to do with a lady that cannot cook. I regard anyone that cannot cook as irresponsible, whether man or woman. You don't have to be a great cook but you should know how to cook the basics. I believe that learning how to cook actually teaches one how to take care of himself or herself. And if you know how to take care of yourself, you can take care of your family, and country. Traditionally, Nigerian men are not taught how to cook. You have so many guys that cannot even boil water for tea let alone cook. A lady friend told me a funny story. She was sick and asked her husband to boil eggs for her. The husband came to ask how to boil the eggs. The woman was surprised at the question. She told her husband to just put the eggs in the pot and put on the stove to cook. The husband did as told but did not add water because the wife did not mention water. Of course the eggs got burnt. This is unbelievable but true, very true. In the developed countries people generally cook for themselves. In the Chinese restaurants, the cooks are usually men. If you live in the developed countries, you will at least know how to fix something for yourself. This apparent lack of basic life survival skills might have something to do with Nigerian (men) not being able to run the country. With all the rich resources we have, we don't seem to have the capacity to leverage them for our prosperity. So Nigerian men, start learning how to cook. Nigerian mothers, start teaching your sons how to cook, so that they will not end up like the man that cannot boil eggs. |

anibestlala: if he was ,the army would HV told his family that he was OK before they had to come out public with his disappearance. Some of you are really overrating this country. The poster said the boys that went with him all came back, with his phone, car keys and house keys. It's obvious the guy is no more. The family and friends need to be told how it happened and allowed to see the body so they can reach cloture. This is one of those situations that reminds one how messed up this country is and why some of us are not proud to be called Nigerians. |
