Well, it didn't generate much traffic because we all know how it is living with a landlord or landlady here in this part of the world, they are always the ones looking for tenant's trouble especially the landladies who feel tenants should worship them each morning they wake up.

Please tenants, let's hear your experiences with your landlords and landladies. I'm sure readers won't ever make the mistake of living in the same building with landlords and landladies after going through this thread.

In 2003, my dad couldn’t pay our rent for a 3 bedrooms apartment, he was given quit notice, he had no money to rent another apartment, the caretaker came and threw our stuffs out, I and my younger sister went to stay with my grandma, my dad went to stay with his friend where he was sleeping in his friend’s living room…. His friend’s wife will send him on an errand, his friend won’t say a word. Thank God my dad own 5 houses today and a hotel, building my third house.

I have an amazing landlord.

We live in the same compound. For example, I left home weeks ago. He called me, asking after my welfare.

I've personally gone to the bar to get him cold drinks and cat fish.

Trust me, man is dope.

Hmmmm, reminiscent times.
We thank God for the past, the present and the bright future ahead.
All our past Landlords still remain very good friends to us till the day.
The cherish and love us because of the kinda tenants we were to them.
We took absolute care of their houses like it is ours.

Hence the saying, it is good to be good.
So we enjoying all our tenants right now.
We paid our dues.

Aspiring Landlords,
These are some of the reason ALL our past Landlords see us as part of their children till tomorrow,
(May the souls of the 2 departed among them RIP, great men!)
Here are some traits you look out for in your Tenants.
Same traits we exhibited as Tenants many years ago...
Healthy track record of on time payments.
Steady income.
Positive report.
Ability to cover potential property damage with an upfront security deposit.
Good references from past landlords.
Polite and respectful to neighbors.
No prior history of eviction etc

Summary : Landlords and Tenants can live with peace with each other.
Respect is Reciprocal.

My landlady said motor will jam and kill me like a dog on the road. Well, she died a couple of weeks later. Her son is in charge now and I am sti living in her house.

Omo, e no easy! I was particularly careful when I was looking for an apartment.

Infact, it was one of my criteria, I never wanted to live with landlords

I got this particular one and I was assured!

while moving in, I was approached by a woman who claim to be a wife to the brother of the landlord! (The landlord) is not around

So I felt since it's only a wife to a brother, no wahala

Omo, I have never seen a troubled package like that in my life!

From tampering with electricity to water to influencing people to make trouble for tenants

There's no avoiding her, even though e no be face me I slap you ooooo

Early morning, she go dey shout like say she dey undergo deliverance!

She's money crazy! When she attends landlord meeting, vital information, she no go give! If she go talk, if the money na N500, she go say na N5000 no exaggeration please!

She will deliberately do tamper with things around the building, be it pipes, electricity, pumping machine so that we can pay, it's crazy!

As conscious as I was, I never knew I could fall into it!

In all my journey, God has been kind, if not wetin I no see Talk of charm it was that bad!

My landlord is very difficult and I'm considering relocating at any moment. I have been living in an apartment with a leaking roof for almost 2 years now. I live alone in a 3 bedroom apartment, 3 of them have leaking Rooftops, it's soo bad that I cannot have a visitor because every corner of the room is leaking! Everything in the other rooms is damaged!

I have called! screamed! Lamented! Before I paid the last rent he assured me it will be fixed the next week! this was Last year and till today nothing has been done about it.

In my own room, any time I want to go out I have to carry the foam to a corner and if it rains in the middle of the night I would have to sleep in the parlor. My Rent expired last month and the idiot wants me to renew so he can use part of the money to fix it. Am waiting for him to come and ask me in person then he will get a piece of me.

The only house I stayed with the landlord staying in the compound as well was a pretty good experience.

It was just my family and his and we never had any stress for 5yrs until I left

Mine na old mama for BQ then. Whala everytime screaming my name to go and open gate, like I be gateman �.. And

During my service year at Ijebu Ogun state. I traveled and came back with a lot of fishes and I gave a lot to my landlord and his family.
Omo every morning, he would send his children to me to know whether I would be in need of water (so as to help me fetch) because there was no borehole in the compound.
I could remember when he directly told me to leave one Ijebu girl because her dad was a stubborn native doctor.

Mine doesn’t reside in Nigeria. Whenever he’s around, he’s amazing. Only that his gen makes too much noise .

Baba loves having me around; talking to me like say na me and am own the house..Maybe because I seem to be the only one bothered about the welfare of the house.

P.S. Caretaker no dey for reasons best known to him.
