Never had an opportunity to have a grown up interaction with my Father. So I don't have anything to say in this matter.

Fathers are really inderated in this world

Truth is, the world isn't fair to men,but that's how the world works, growing up as kids we see more of our mum, they provide the care and all, but we hardly see the real side of our fathers because our mums portray our dad's as the enforcer who only disciplines, meanwhile the man toils from dawn to dusk to make the money ,it's the money that our mum's translate into the good things like food, school bags,fees, clothes, parties etc .
This places the mothers in position of care and weakness, a position that uncannily makes we want to care and protect them, we grow up with that mindset such that when parents are aged we send money to our mums in hope that they'd transform it into something good. Now, this is where we are wrong, women aren't good with power especially over their husbands, should you take this approach, the women will try to subjugate her husband and soon you'd find your father becoming more naive and have less voice in home affairs.

As a son, who understands , when you send money , send to your mum for the house items with your dad knowing, but also send to your Dad privately for his pocket (even if it's a quarter of what you gave your mum for the house items) , because a man needs it for his confidence.

The world has no sympathy for men, even in their old age, they have no where to run to, no shoulder to lean on, even their own kids abandon them. No one remembers their struggle, have you heard of any musician singing about how his father prayed for him or advices him?.. it's always the mums.

If you're a man and reading this, You can break this circle, be there for your father,

Tell this to your sons also.

Basically, dads get money from their pensions

Most mothers in Nigeria are 'housewives' who don't get a pension, and who are reliant on hubby

If my dad were to be alive, I'll give him plenty money too

I give both of them the same amount,( if I plan to give 50k to them, I make it 25K each). But I give money for their monthly upkeep to my mum each time I visit.

Only the living needs money, not the dead. RIP DAD❣

Women are cunny. They have a way of always brainwashing the children that they were there for them all the time.

But as a smart child, you shouldn't be carried away by that.

Personally, whatever I give my mum is exactly what I give my dad. They are both equal in my eyes.

Quite unfortunate that I didn't give my dad much when he's alive. I prefer giving my mum because of family upkeep as regards food stuffs. My father is not the type that gives out easily and if I had given him the lion share, it would have been hard for the family in terms of bringing money for food items.

It's really sad. Lets learn to love and appreciate our fathers too. It is not easy to be a man. Most fathers live selflessly.

It's unfortunate you grew up not knowing what it means to have a father that genuinely care for you and your siblings,provide for you all and protect you all .

I think it's because our mothers usually need financial supports than our fathers. Also, giving a father who is financially okay money will sound insultive.
But of course, if a sensible child knows his/her father needs some financial assistance and he/she is buoyant enough to assist, he wouldn't hesitate to do so.

how did we come to the conclusion that children give their mom money than their dad?

In my case my mom have been the family provider since we were kids

So she's eating her labour now!

Sorry, if I may ask, was she the bread winner? Did she take care of you when you were ill and your dad was at work (looking for money)? Or how do you mean she suffered for you that you dad did not?
The reason I ask is because this is why the vicious circle continues. The same way our kids will probably say the same thing and give us 30 and mum 70.
It then goes round and round.

But this is not the reality as most children only think of their mother.

What did our fathers do to deserve this?

I have also wondered about this because the father played his role, atleast a responsible father, it's funny because guys too abandon their father and give to their mum alone or certainly far less to their dad. Probably they forget they will be dads someday and what they do to their father now will definitely be done to them too as a father. So do to your father what you want your children to do to you in the nearest future, it's as simple as that

It depends on the kind of father. You don’t expect a child who grew up being a witness to his father always beating his mother up over little quarrels for decades, having affairs with young girls and would rather spend his money on them than take care of his wife, to give that same father more money than his mom. Same father that will end up marrying another woman while abandoning the child’s mother, it’s not possible for such child to have this in mind and still spend more on the father than his mother who suffered in the hands of his father.
