Hi Nairalanders,
What is the best way to invest funds without actually being engaged in doing anything? I have what I do that brings in money, I just feel like some funds are idle in my account and Naira - dollar fluctuations isn't helping matter.

For example fixed deposit accounts, which Nigerian bank has the best interest rate?

No cryptocurrency
No forex
No betting
No scam investment

No PM

Thank you.

I work with Lapo Microfinance Bank.
I can assure you that we have the best interest rate, you can make enquiry at other Banks. I am not comparing our interest rate with ponzi Scheme rate,, am only rating it to insured/regulated Financial Institution.
About Security: most people may advise not to bank with a Microfinance Bank, but I tell you this, you can make and research wherever about Lapo MFB, it is fully regulated by CBN and insured by NDIC just like every other Commercial Banks you know.
If you wish to know more about the rate, reach me on: 08169071939

10% return on an investment per annum is very healthy and sustainable

You can't consistently sustain 30% per annum return on an investment. Even Warren Buffett (the Greatest investor of all time) can't do that

Nigerian official inflation is 15.6% your investment is returning 10%. If you cannot see the problem here, then with due respect you are a financial illiterate and every 1st year finance student is laughing at you right now!!!! Banks and investment houses love people like you. I do not mean it as an insult it’s just the only way to describe people who are clueless about finance.

The minute you deposit your money you have lost 5.6% of the value of your money and lif inflation remains at 15% you will continue to lose 5% every year!

Warren buffer is an investor, there is a difference between an investor and a trader. Hedge funds especially the smaller ones make upwards of 100% in some years. Apart from the fact that Buffet is a long term investor he is also too large. The larger you are the less you can make in percentage terms.

I am aware that 20m can fetch you additional 20m in ten years. The longer the tenure, the better the returns, depending on the amount invested
I have done the present value calculation on that investment based on Nigerian inflation rate of 15% and your 20m investment even though it will yield you 20m over 10 years for a total of 40m with destroy the value of your investment by 53%.

What that means is that in 10 years you will have more money on paper but will not be able to buy HALF of what you can buy with it today.

Here is the link for PV calculations just put in the amount you will receive in 10 years (40m), the current inflation rate (15.6%) and the no of years (10)

https://financialmentor.com/calculator/present-value-calculator

By making that investment of 20m in this scheme, the total money you will get back (40m). Will only be worth 9.36m in today,s money!!!

Oga calculator, allow people live with their choices as you do not know what they do or how much they have, stop crying more than the bereaved.

There are people who bought land or built house(s) 10 years ago, and such land/house is yet to fetch them half of the amount, not to mention the full amount.

Please, allow people make their choices as they deem fit. Surprisingly, you may not have personal practical, better or safer way to invest the said funds

People need to be educated and not taken for a ride by banks and financial institutions. Things are hard enough for Nigerians as they are. There is nothing worse than thinking you have invested for your future only to find the investment has made you poorer!!!!!!YOU ARE SCAMMING PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU KNOW MOST PEOPLE ARE FINANCIALLY ILLITERATE!!!!!

No trader can consistently make huge returns (25% monthly) on his trades....the more you trade, the more likely you're to lose money

And yes the inflation rate in Nigeria is 15.5% that's why you invest in Dollar-pegged assets. That way, you get your decent YEARLY RETURNS and Still make FOREX GAINS(when you convert back to naira)......that way, you've beaten inflation

Everyone would love to earn 25% monthly returns on his investments but bro, that's not sustainable, that's the simple truth

A great sustainable investment generates 25% average annualized return.....25% annually not monthly

We're talking about sustainability. Don't lose your capital in the quest of chasing HUGE RETURNS. Peace

my brother in law trades for a living so I know a bit about trading, but there are periods sometimes months when he won’t trade when he says the market is not good for trading. Warden Buffer cannot make those kinds of return because the more money you have the less nimble you can be in the markets warren buffer is not a trader, he is a long term investor, he buys and sits.

By the way I got my figures wrong in the original post it should be 2.3m and 54m

BTW my brother in law has made bigger returns than that sometimes in a single day. The point is you cannot do it consistently….nobody can

Exactly bro! Now we have arrived at the same point......No Mortal can CONSISTENTLY deliver those returns

Its obvious that you lack comprehension. Do you know what a scam is?

You may need to be mindful of your choice of words before you'd be sued for what you don't know. Mind you, you've just referred to a duly regulated global financial institution as scam

People do! Like I said I know this for a fact. He has losing months but his average monthly return is actually higher than that. But like I said those that do don’t solicit for funds.

I referred to you as a scammer for claiming to have financial knowledge and recommending a value destroying investment. An investment that as someone with financial knowledge you clearly know has a negative present value!, go ahead and sue!

I never mentioned any company I simply said any investment that gives you 100% over 10 years in Nigeria is value destructive. FU CK YOU!!!!!

You can fix your money with safe gate microfinance. You get 20% on capital fixed in a year. Better than what you get in a bank.

You can also invest in real estate, buy land that will appreciate in value.

It's no scam... You call me on 09161505947. Our offices are open.

You can buy a land in your name, whether you are single or married

Develop part of the land for rental and keep the rest for your family

Money just want to be somewhere growing but not kept idle

What do they put these funds into.
That is the key. Not the returns.
You should know how the investment house makes its money and whether it is ethical, and sustainable.

U mightn’t have a practical idea abh what the banks do with your money, but u have ur money there after all.

Well, Branch gives out loans.

They’re endorsed by CBN, BTW.

I though about your question again,

Get a foreign account or broker and invest in foreign blue chip dividend paying stocks, companies that will always be around. Nothing fancy, you won’t make fantastic returns but trust me any money you make is real additional wealth compared to the Naira gains that in reality is destroyed by inflation.you will protect yourself from the ever present. devaluation of the Naira and earn a decent return from dividends which if you ask your broker to automatically reinvest will compound your capital and dividends over time. That’s my advice for someone who wants to invest passively and wants to be protected from the Naira.

Your investments should be worth more in 10 years in actual purchasing power than all the clowns promising 100% return in 10 years in Naira! Finally until you decide what to do, never ever keep idle money in Naira. Open a dom account or an account abroad if you can and keep your money there. You can always converts it back if you need it in Naira and it will be at a higher rate.
