Ukraine is a sovereign nation just like Cuba. When the Soviet Union deployed it's missile systems to Cuba, the US reacted. They considered invading Cuba at a point. We may not like the idea, but that it the way politics is played in the world.

I could remember when Russia deployed it's millitary to Syria. One CNN report says, Russia don't have the financial & logistical capability to maintain such intervention for long. Russia military is still in Syria till date. The depolyment of troops to Ukrainian border alone involve huge logistics & cost a lots of money. Russia led troops sent to Kazakhstan happened when they already have thousands of troop on their border to Ukraine. Russia was solely in charge of the logistics. Russia military cargo plane ferry all other CSO member states troops & equipments to Kazakhstan. They may not have the financial & logistics to wage war far away from their territory. But they have the capacity (financial, logistics & oil reserve) to wage on their doorstep.

War between superpowers won't last more than 5 months. Even the US can't wage war with another superpower for a year. Because you need to put your best military equipments forward. The equipments are very expensive. Imagine the cost of a single Tomahawk and the number you need to wage war against Russia.

I like your insight. Perhaps it would have been better if time permits to go through this holistically. I am beginning to see another angle from your analysis.

Russia cannot maintain her large army for a 5-10 years warfare. Her economy is facing some challenges (relative to her peers). No be to rush to battlefield. Last year, during staff meeting. She kind of challenged a senior collegue's idea infront of everybody, the man was not having it. It caused a riff between them. Since then the man has been trying to sack her. Based on he is my uncles alley.
I defended her privately to my uncle. They didnt sack her..
Last year my uncle annouced that he will be going to uk for hip surgery.
His wife has taken over as of January.
Maybe the wife has a hand in this.
