Nigeria has not reached the maturity to elect the best candidate. We are still enmeshed in tribal politics. My opinion is that we deal with this fact as it is, honestly, and hope that withtime, future nigerians will disregard ethnicity in national affairs. If I take the majority of nairaland posters as the youth if Nigeria, I can guess that it may take more than 100yrs to have the kind of objector nigerians who will disregard ethnicity. Until then, we must manage our country to the best of our ability. Therefore, our best bet for peace, for now, is rotational presidency. I say this for two major reasons. 1. It will help give us political peace. Without peace there will NEVER be progress no matter how good the president is. 2. I believe that in every state in this country, we can find someone who will make a good president if given the right conditions. So while we are waiting for that century in which we can make hooves without regards to tribe or religion, let us have peace through rotational presidency. The next president should be a northern mus.lim . Any serious partyshould start now to look for a good candidate from the core north. |
I disagree with his tax policy, small govt policy, etc. But this guy is honest, consistent and plain. Since Obama is now a republican, I might as well say Ron Paul is my favorite republican and if it were possible, he will get my vote. |
Who says Nigeria is safer than the UK? How many people did you guys kill after the presidential election? 500? 600? O, I'm sorry, they lost count. Ooops, they didn't bother to count. How about Jos? How many have died in jos in the last 3 yrs? Ever heard of Boko Haram? Ahaa! I knew somebody will say it's all in the north. Then I say Kidnappers. . . . silence. Abegi ![]() |

Obama the closet republican.Obama the closet republican. Strike a republican policy and try to decieve liberals that it was a compromise. Cut services and establish lopsided sacrifices, then tell us that it was a compromise. Who are u decieving? America wants either a republican president or a democrat president. Since you are not a real democrat. And obviously not a pure republican, you will loose. You will satisfy no one. Not even yourself. Go Home! Bye-Bye. |
Thanks to you Johnie. I've skipped my meal for tonight. Anyway you warned about viewer discretion. Yuk!! |

JeSoul:dear Jesoul, no be small thing. I could have used that money for a cool steak and mashed potato at "prince of wales". Washed I down with Spanish wine. Or better still given the money to darfur relief programmes. I gave it to "yes we can". See me now. Just looks like McCain won the election. By the way, where is tayoD. I hear his state govt has broken down completely? Lol. Next time I come to America, I may try to visit him. I'll really love to meet him face to face ![]() |
Na wa o. Nayah thank you o. Just by showing your new face here my people all flooded into the thread from their hiding places, rejuvenating the thread in the process. montelik:@montelik. You couldn't have said it any better. The frustration is unbelievable. I regret every dime or resource I invested in his campaign in 2008. Honestly, Hillary (the witch) would have done far better. Anyway you read my mind. Let me vent. Imagine this guy was the most liberal senator in his short stay there. Obama is just not worth an extra 1 minute in the white house. The liberals should start looking for another leader. |
So otele biara ebea? Kam si kwa ihe na eshi ushi ngaa kemgbe taa. |
And tell him and all the democrats to stop invoking Ronald Reagan in every speech and statement. Stupid! |

What can be done to stop the flood? Uhm stop the rain! ![]() |
The guy is just a bleeping closet republican. |
Now he's attempting cutting Medicare and social security to "address the deficit" while the tax loop holes are untouched. It's time for the democratic party to bw disbanded and all their members sacked( except pelosi) It's time for a new progressive party. For liberals. Obama has to go. That dummy should just go home and never rear his ugly head again. |

the kind of health issues that emanate from nigeria. let me say this, why dont you sue them? it's not about being wicked, people in nigeria need to understand that they can be sued. anyway, i feel you. even me wont be able to have the ''strong mind'' to sue someone begging for forgiveness. however, there are sickle cell clients who live pretty well, next time your wife is pregnant, see if a test can be done to determine the genotype of the fetus in nigeria. if it's done and it's SS, you guys can go for an abortion, if it's not SS, the child stays. cheer up, there are people who dont have a child. there are women who are dying to have a child before their life span runs out |

sometimes, a harsh punishment may be necessary for a society to have some sanity. however i do agree with the proposition that the guy should have been given a proper trial(i.e if he didnt get any), even a military court trial. i hope he can re-enlist at a later date, when he is more remorseful |
manblaaque:you're welcome ![]() unfortunately i've not been home in over 5 yrs ( however, owerri is about less than 90mins away from port-harcourt, aba is about 40 mins away, onitsha is 60 mins away. if you're in Owerri you are sitting in the middle of a triangle made up of Aba, Onitsha and PH. employment opportunities wont be that far. you have the advantage of a nice medium city(owerri) and the advantage of huge happening places (PH, Aba,Onitsha) enjoy ![]() |
thanks guys, how about EFCC vs ICPC? What are the duties and differences in their duties? ibime, what are the functions of NDDC vis-a-vis the ministry of the Niger-Delta? |
Please can someone explain to me in simple terms, what these organizations do. And the difference in what each does. OMPADEC NDDC Niger Delta Ministry I'm confused |
@manblaaqe if there's anything called the most peaceful state in Nigeria, it's IMO. I lived and grew up there. I've been out of the country for long though, I hear kidnappers have started acting there, but it's mainly to get money, not really for violence. However, it's a quiet state, owerri, the capital, has many schools within and around it( IMO state university, alvan college, futo, fed poly nekede, agric college etc) this means a lot of young people and fun. Lots of hotels, etc. Nothing to fear. It's not bauchi. Nobody is out to kill you bc of your religion, or tribe, or political party, or state of origin. Have fun. Obey the law. Be yourself. |
Finally, some sanity in the military. Better late than never. Can we ever discuss anything in this country without resorting to tribal attacks? JEEZ!!! |

I still insist that Cameroon with over 200 ethnic groups( according to nayah) and xtians and mus.lims in large proportions, is relatively a peaceful society. Nigeria's violence and inter tribal hatred and prejudice may not be entirely related to our free speech or inefficient govt. It may also be from within us as can be seen here in nairaland. But I must confess, in the absence of good govt, I will take nigeria's political system over cameroon's system with one man rule over my entire lifetime. I've known president biya since I've known Cameroon. I love the Cameroonians I've met in school back home in Nigeria. Most of the ones I knew were university of calabar students and they love life and fun. No time for quarrels. I guess that's the inherent DNA foe peace that makes it a lovely country, inspite of Mr Paul Biya. |
