Contrary to the popular perception that government has no business with business, Mkpat Enin Local Government council under the leadership of Hon. Ekanem Brown, the Executive Chairman is witnessing bumper harvests from the various business ventures embarked by the present administration.

From agricultural programme to shoe manufacturing, the present administration in the area has taken several bold steps to create employment opportunities, improve her revenue and encourage people of the area to take advantage of the very fertile topography for commercial agriculture.

The latest in the series of bountiful returns on government investment is the harvest of cucumber and other produce in commercial quantity from the farms cultivated by the Local Government just two months ago.

The ten hectare farm which employs over twenty local farmers and security guards was planted with an improved variety of cucumber seeds with a maturity period of forty five days.

Just recently, the council boss, Hon. Ekanem Brown supervised the first harvest of cucumber from the plantation. The produce were harvested in commercial quantity and loaded in truck for onward supply to a waiting market.

According to the consultant of the farm, simply know as Mr. Mike, about one hundred bags of cucumber will be harvested weekly from the farm for at least two months with market value worth millions of naira. Plans are also underway for a team of investors to set up a 150 hectare plantain plantation with two plantain mills.

With the agric revolution, shoe factory, tourism and sports initiatives of Hon. Ekanem Brown, it is evident that he is leading the way amongst Local Government chairmen in Nigeria who are ‘thinking out of the box’ to solve the various challenges of their domain especially in the areas of job creation, poverty alleviation, revenue generation amongst others.

My bro, the companies alone in Lagos are enough IGR. The current structure of Nigeria makes other states lazy. If we can allow resource control and little percentage given to FG, other states will surely fight hard to improve IGR.

The current system only favours lagos and the central govt. This system will never take Nigeria anywhere...even if u bring Trump, Obama, etc, Nigeria can never grow with the current system..

Comfort zone makes humans naturally lazy...

Allow oil producing states to handle their resources and let other states hustle and find what can bring them money... as long as these states
know that at the end of the month, FG will dash them money, they will never think outside the box. Lagos is not even doing enough. Over 95% of the companies in Nigeria are located in Lagos due to her proximity to water and heavy FG investment as ex capital of Nigeria.

Weda lagos works hard or not, with the current structure of Nigeria, the state will continue to lead other states..

But if we allow for resource control, some companies would be compelled to move their facilities to other states where they operate fully.. Lagos IGR will go down.. This will force Lagos to work harder..

A restructured Nigeria will benefit everyone..

Sometimes, ur job as a media spokesperson is to control a damage and one of such ways is to tender an apology.

It is a shame that even as a young media person, which I am, I can educate people like u and Adesina that this damage would av been better controlled via an apology than twisted reality.

Pls, tell ur leader to provide Nigerian youths with stable electricity, access to stable, affordable and fast internet connection, make schemes available for people to easily have their own house, provide water, make fuel cheaper and available, build research hubs, build good roads, make it easier for me to travel to Lagos, Enugu, PH, Kano, etc, faster and cheaper. If ur leader can do these, Nigerian youths will do well. Above all, tell ur leader to improve our educational systems. It is sad how we think education starts and ends in university. My brother, one of the most important education is the primary school education and the secondary school education. Citizens of developed countries can do far better with secondary school education. Have u seen where our kids learn? Creativity is either gotten naturally by birth or developed by the educational system.

The pry and seconday school systems we run here are poor and will only make majority of the population dull and mentally lazy. If ur leader doubts me, he can enroll his kids to govt owned pry and secondary schools. It is sad we dont know the importance of pry and secondary schools to the development of youths!

Our youths are exposed to environment lacking creativity and motivation. I grew up from police barracks and i can tell u that i lacked motivation. I went to a useless govt pry and secondary schools. It took extra ordinary works for me to find my head. Bro, forget sentiments, Nigerians have been robbed by both Buhari and other leaders..

when it is time for wealth to circulate to those of us who struggled to graduate from school with good grades, we try to apply to get jobs at CBN, SON, FIRSC, etc (u know those lucrative agencies in FG), we dont get such jobs. Same jobs are given to same kids whose parents failed to give us standard pry, secondary and university educational systems. The same people who already have plenty, they still go about occupying such positions. Is that okay by u? Judge ur heart!

Go out there and see how Nigerians work their ass out to make a living! I can put it to u that majority of Nigerian youths are not lazy. The lack of creativity u are talking about can be linked to poor pry and secondary school systems most families are exposed to. You cant blame such families. My dad was a policeman and how much was his salary? He had me and my siblings to feed. He couldnt afford quality education for me.

I had to work harder to get admission into a top FG university and came out with second class upper. Applied for jobs here and there and got one useless job with 35k as monthly pay. They almost killed me with straight 9 hours of work for five days. I worked there for two years before i ran away. I applied to join FG agencies but i knew no one. Senators, house rep members, top govt officials took away the positions. I even applied to join police. Na still man who know man system.

I had to resort to freelancing. My brother, forget sentiments, my story is similar to that of millions of Nigerians. We have no right to condemn the average Nigerian youth. He has been thru a lot. I have seen it all.

Most nigerian youths have to deal with poor electricity and expensive fuel. During the last fuel scarcity, i lost many jobs online due to poor electricity and unavailable and expensive fuel. My brother, some of us deal with poor internet connections and poor customer service treatments by telecoms and banks. What else do u want the average Nigerian youth to do? From nothing, some of us have built a world to eat at least. Bro, if i av a gun, i will gun down our entire leaders, not just Buhari. I am only hurt that Buhari made this comment. A man who can not stand treating him self in any Nigerian hospital. A man who can not stand having his kids school in Nigeria.

of course, he knows the systems on ground can never make his kids creative except they work extra, extra, extra hard.. like i said on my fb wall, u need to be a super human to make it in Nigeria.

I know how my business suffered becus of poor electricity and expensive fuel that was scarce during scarcity. I lost money, so much. It was so annoying. I hate being a Nigerian. Yet, we spend our money on these criminals. Left for me, if we dont learn how to occupy strategic places in our country to demand for certain changes, sorry for us. Well, maybe u are directly benefiting from govt. Lucky u.

I don't like the way u are sounding! Freelancing can serve as a a side hustle and can also serve as a full term job. It has worked for some people and it has failed some people.

If I know what u don't know, I can make money from it too. That is how the world is. It is that simple. I never said I av made so much but for freelancing to keep me up and doing in this hard times in Nigeria, I am grateful and I think it is normal and right if I also sell what I av learnt so far. It is still my right to give it out for free.

Many people are simply looking for side hustle, some are looking for something to hold body and soul while some are looking for something to take them to the next level. For freelancing ti help me quit my annoying CCR job and still enable me meet my needs, pay my bills, assist my younger ones no matter how little, take care of my babe and got engaged and planned marriage, etc, I am only grateful to freelancing. If not, I would still be doing my annoying CCR job or even sacked by now. Brother, sometimes, stop this over sabi or over protection, okay! I also learn some tips from someone I met online. Till date, I never see that guy.
