Like Vic rightly said, you are not eligible or permitted to work without USCIS employment authorization.
Also, there are really no set of documents that guarantees any applicant a US visa even though most naija folks screem IV letter and fat account statement. I have seen people with less than #200,000 in their account issued a visa simply because they have a good job, family ties such as wife, kids, and dependent parents, etc while people with few million naira in their account denied.
I think it will be safe to say your visa (if they will issue one) will already be approved even before you get to the interview. If you f-up, makes it easier to deny! Likewise easy to complete the issuing process if you present your case well.
Biggest challenge for a 25yrs old single girl like you is proving strong family ties. Every non-immigrant visa applicant is considered an intending immigrant unless proven otherwise! Good luck!

You will likely be getting a B1/B2 visa. Lately they've been giving out multiple visa which is good for 2 years but you are not allowed to spend the entire 2 years in the US on one visit. At the point of entry, the admitting immigration officer will decide how long your stay in the US will be. 90% of time, they will stamp you in for 6 months. Example, if you arrive US Dec. 12 2015, you're expected to leave not later than June 11, 2016.

And like I said above, maybe in IL one can have a state ID and drivers license. In my state, you can have a state ID if you don't drive but if you drive and have a drivers license, it's the same as State ID.

If it was 4 years ago, college tuition per credit can NEVER be that cheap even if you're a citizen and definately you didn't get a SSN without having any legal status just 4 years ago and finally, you can NOT have a driver license and still have a state ID period. They both serve the same purpose. Your driver license is the same as State ID

there are many illegal residents with no social security number. however there was a time when SSN ( card ) was issued to people who are not citizens but they stopped doing this. if you have this SSN, they cant tell if you are a US citizen or not. i was one of those fortunate to get that SSN ( card ) before they stopped giving it to non US citizens. so while i was not a US citizen, i was operating like a US citizen and getting the cheap school fees of a US citizen. hope that makes sense to you

Putting your answers together is kind of making sense now however, you need more than just SSN to enrol into college in the US but I'll just take your word for it since you won't tell me the year and this your story sound like something that happened before I was even born not to talk of moving to US

Community colleges in chicago are cheap. when i was at truman college getting some credit hours. each credit hour was 34 dollars. very cheap.
