Jenykech: Thank you oh. I’ll come to Canada before this year runs out and I’m certain that before a couple of years I’ll be earning high. I infact do not intend to do any menial job Which is highly possible depending on your plans and situations. Though doing a menial job is not a death sentence, sometimes we need to jump off our high horses to go past certain levels. One just need to focus on the goal and how best to achieve it. If you check, many locals do low paying jobs and are content with it, life means different things to different people. I will use myself for example, I don’t like the fast paced life in big cities neither do I like to live near high streets with continuous noise and pollution, I rather live in a small quiet community and close to wildlife, this considerably lowers income for the kind of field I like but then am somewhat content and super happy walking in the woods. |

themonk: I’m genuinely interested in what your friends that make 7k/week do. Once I enter Canada, I would like to join them. Abeg? I find this quite laughable, I believe it’s partly a joke. If you go on indeed.ca, you can’t go through all the jobs that pay about 100k a year. Does that mean you will get into all the careers? Am not sure. You can be in a career where people earn 6 figures and you will still struggle, income is determined by many factors. There are many Nursing jobs, yet there are Nurses struggling to get a job. You need to know what you want and not what the income wants. |

Slimboss042: good day everyone please I want to ask a question. I submitted my study permit application last week and on Monday ,my application is in progress, my eligibility is being reviewed I want to know how long it will take for it to be approved. Also my medicals and biometrics has not been updated, my background check is in progress. So since they started reviewing my eligibility status early how long will it take because I'm going for may Intake. Your kind response will go a long way, thanks This is at the discretion of the visa officer, no one here can tell you categorically when your study permit would be approved and issued. |

ednut1: oh i see. IRCC is paying people to go write TEF As more and more people want to japa people will try every possible available means to increase their scores. The so called bill C-19 already shows us that high scores does not necessarily solve labour shortages. If they cared about scores there will be no bill c-19.
Congrats to those who got ita and ppr 😅 Double likes |

godstino: Thanks a lot. I started in July last year when someone enlightened me on the impact of french on CRS score and gave me his echo A1 book. But the book was so boring to me until I stumbled upon a post by @Cooooooks about vite et bien and it was a game changer. I employed a private tutor that same month and she was like the perfect icing on the cake. I did a month subscription with ‘learn french with Alexa’ too while I was also listening to the Michel Thomas series at any spare time both at work and at home. Immediately I finished the vite et bien B1 book, I focused my attention on ‘the communication progessive du français ‘ by the same author of vite et bien and also started streamlining my practice towards the TCF exams bécause I discovered I had learnt enough vocabs. My tutor was a major booster and I couldn’t have pulled through without her efforts.
So in summary, I used
Books: Vite et bien (A1 to B1) Communication progressive du français Essential French grammar The Ultimate French (couldn’t finish reading this) Vocabulary in dialogue series (Couldn’t finish this)
Audio: Michel Thomas series Frenchpod101 (didnt finish all) Coffee break (didnt finish all) RFI TV5monde
YouTube videos -french extra series (very funny) -french in action series (didn’t finish this) -french avec pierre Some other French channels
Subscription Learn french with Alexa Réussirtcf canada TCF prepmyfuture (I didnt use this one at all. I later gave out the login details cos I didn’t like it)
GROUPS -Several Telegram French groups especially for speaking -Several whatsapp groups too
APPS HelloTalk ( Didnt use this more than once cos I could easily speak french with my tutor everyday)
MOVIES The African Doctor Lupin (this is a series) Some others.
Private Tutor: For the entire learning period. Also, my Tutor was very determined to ensure I succeeded. We became very close. I got to know her through a website called Superprof which someone recommended for me because I needed a physical tutor and not an online one.
Also, I already knew I was writing TCF , so no need studying TEF materials but I participated in their speaking sessions in various platforms.
Overall, the best way to learn the language is to love the language first and then immerse yourself. I’d sometimes speak french to my colleagues and patients at work just for the fun of it LOL. The books and michel Thomas Series made me keep going back for more. Each time I felt like giving up, I’d come to this thread to read People’s testimonies and that would fire me on again. So this thread played a crucial role too. Since my colleagues knew I was studying french, they easily covered for me at work too. Not failing to acknowledge the help of God who is the orchestrator of all things. I wish I could give more likes… great info… check your PM |

msrcoor: Good day,
Please I received a notification of interest from Ontario,
But I'm confused with one of the requirements
One of the requirements is that if you worked in a regulated occupation, you must scan and upload a copy of your license or authorization
I'm a pharmacist here in Nigeria,do I need to obtain an authorization or license from Ontario or is it my Nigeria license?
Please anyone that has gone through this process, I would appreciate if they can assist me.
Thanks. Your Nigeria license is what is being asked |

OkukuOne: Dear @Makano, aestake, DrAFOgons, Profgordons, HEADYWORLD, Lizzy et al,
I have submitted my application for SOWP and the kids' SP.
Please I didn't fill out IMM5646 (Custodianship Declaration - Parents/Guardians for minors studying in Canada).
Is this a MUST or can this cause me any problems? I just remember that I saw something about it earlier on that " you may fill out the IMM 5646 form" and I can't remember filling it out before submitting my application.
Is it an idea to fill it out and send it through webform?
Please, team please guide me here.
Thanks in anticipation. Not required if you are traveling as a family |

ChiPromise: Okay thanks a lot. Waiting for the PGWP would be adding extra 6months on top of the time I would have applied after the wedding. Probably the only option is to apply during study permit validity and then apply for an extension. Absolutely a better option |

ChiPromise: In that case, is it better to apply for his SOWP when I'm applying for my PGWP? I think after your PGWP, because that is when you will have a new status. |

ChiPromise: Pls house, sm1 should advice me. I'm in Canada on a study permit but my wedding is in June for which I'm to travel to Nigeria. My study is ending in August and permit expiring in November b4 which I'll apply for PGWP. The question is, should i apply for SOWP soon after the wedding? And what length of visa will he likely be given? Would it lap into my pgwp or would I have to apply for extention for his SOWP? I believe you know the answers but just for clarity, what you are thinking is exactly what will happen, his status is tied to yours in terms of WP. So you can decide to apply soon after the wedding but he will most likely need an extension if granted. An easier solution would have been visitor visa as this would likely grant him a longer access to cover the duration you require but VV is somewhat unpredictable these days but it still happens. |

Treasure134: Good evening/ Good morning guys
I want to use this medium to appreciate each and everyone contributing to this platform God bless you all
Please I need your help
Though through the Nairaland Canada study visa thread I got my study visa, now I’m planning to apply for spouse visa for my woman though we’re still yet to marry and with the look of things I need yo bring her in asap
Please guys I will need you thoroughly help on how to start
Is work permit visa the same as SOWP?
What document do I need to submit on her behalf plus do I need to go to my school yo issue me any letter for the spouse visa application??
I will truly appreciate all your responses
Thank you If you are not married yet, you cannot apply for a Spouse Open Work Permit. When you eventually get married and you are applying, you do not need any letter from the school specifically for her application, you would just go on IRCC site, using your GCKey and apply with all the supporting documents. I hope that helps, and true, you need someone to split the bills with. |

kennyjoy: Hi everyone,
For those that have submitted their passport, please, is the transmission fee the same at 9410, and if I'm sending it to Abuja for stamping, how do I get their passport back since DHL doesn't do two-way couriers anymore? I need clarity on this.
Thanks, guys. Transmission fee is paid if you did not carry out your biometrics at that same VFS location or for kids that didn’t do biometrics. For the return courier, you will pay separately for a one way courier, then include the payment receipt and return address and contact you want it returned to. https://visa.vfsglobal.com/nga/en/can/additional-services |

Utong: This is a fact. I was not given medical request and did not do medical before moving. My medical was written N/A meaning not applicable. Let’s see your LOI, we have all agreed that your case might be different, I entered Canada with an almost expiring Medical and on my WP is it clearly indicated that I should do another medical within 60days. We can leave the IP to decide on what he wants to do but I’ll rather err on the side of caution. |

Utong: No go waste money. If medical was not requested, don't do it. You only do medical if that was requested. I am here in Canada. I was not given medical request neither did I do upfront. This is misleading, you don’t need medical if you are in Canada or did you mean before leaving, it would be a strange exception |

DrAFOguns: Guys, I need your help. I initially sent my passport through DHL and they didn't do two-way, hence why I am stuck.
Do I just make payment to VFS and send them the receipt with delivery address? That is why it is good to get all info before an action. But I understand the anxiousness that comes with PPR. My sarcasm for your initial question was because your situation was not explained. Effective communication matters. You will need to pay for a return courier to get your passport back through mail or plan to pick it up yourself. If it is not possible for you to pick it up in person, then pay for the return courier, it’s about 18710 I think, then mail the receipt to VFS and follow up with a call. I got someone to do this last week and he has received his passport. I hope this helps. |

Ibizer: Hello guys, I'm not in the pool yet or anytime soon but I just want advice. I'm a young man in my early 20's in Lagos. Completed Nysc and got a job. I want to get at least 2 years experience before applying for EE so am looking at the next 3-4 years but due to how competitive and difficult the system is currently, I'm scared that in the future when I want to apply, it might be harder and unattainable. Maybe I'm overthinking based on how naija is or it's actually a reality. Just need advice. Thanks The best time to into the pool is once you are qualified for it. Since you are still a young lad, why not take up an MSc or an added diploma. Since you live in Lagos, I’ll suggest you purse the French diploma at Uni Lag, so you gain two things, French speaking abilities and an added certificate which would increase your scores! Best of the best |

If it is IOM they will send you a mail when it has been transmitted. You can also upload the medical slip you are given via webform before sending the passport. |
