This is really sound advice. I hope he sees it. I’d only add that they should pursue PR in hand first, do soft landing and then go to the UK to get that bridging experience. This is what my brother-in-law is currently doing. This man’s wife is even in a somewhat better position since she’s just starting her career and hasn’t specialized. My BIL was a specialist in Nigeria (pediatrics) but upon getting to the UK, his specialty is disregarded and he had to start over as a GP in the hospital’s pediatric department.
Thanks for your input and experience, I’ll tell you why soft landing may not work, for her to get to the UK, she would need minimum of two years to prepare, pass both PLAB 1&2 exams then get a job. So she has two scenarios to play with:
1. Work, gain experience, apply for PR (Two Years at least from now)
2. Prepare for PLAB, go to the UK, do residency then apply for PR (At least 5-6 years from now)

Question will then be which has an advantage?
Scenario one will mean after two years from now she may be in Canada but cannot practice. She would need two to three years trying to get into the residence program then spend 4 years in the residence program at least. Before she can practice as a Medical Doctor in Canada is 8-9 years from now, I can bet a 100k on that.

While she can achieve scenario two within 6 to 7 years….

If you guys are going to get married and probably have kids within those years, then be ready to add 1.5years for each child you intend to have!

Hello guys,
Somebody directed me here from the Canada student thread. My wife to be studied Medicine in Morocco for 8 years on a federal government scholarship, and she just graduated last year November, and she's very fluent in both English and French, because the medical degree was done in pure French language. The only job experience she has is the 1 year clinical experience in between her studies. She's 27, about to be 28 this July.
Somebody said that we should try the EE instead of applying for masters for her, that she can get ITA and even PNP from many of the provinces.
Please, considering this profile, do you think she has any chance of getting it?
N:B she has about $8,000 combined in both her Morocco account and Nigeria Dollar account, as savings she could make over the years from her clinical job and regular $500 monthly she got from the Federal government as scholarship money.
I tried to message you privately but you didn’t respond so I’ll drop my advice here and it is not far from what others have mentioned. My wife is also a physician and it is a bit of long walk. Firstly she needs to start getting experience now, she can get that in Morocco or Nigeria but her best option is Morocco because she has a residency card.

With Nigeria when she returns, she still will be required to do a bridging exam with Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, I know it has been an annual exam, not sure if it is more frequent now and surprisingly, the pass rate is very low! Without that she can’t work as a Medical Doctor in Nigeria.

While she’s getting that experience she has to verify her degree with Medical Council of Canada through https://physiciansapply.ca/ this can be another long process depending on how quick her school responds.

Finally IELTS would be required but if she has the fluency to write TEF/TCF which are French exams, it will reduce how much work experience she would require.

Note 1: Medical Degree is categorized as professional degree so it is equivalent to MSc also Clinical experience can be claimed as work experience if it is up to one year and was paid no matter how little.

Note 2: Practicing Medicine in Canada as a Foreign Trained Physician is as difficult as almost impossible, she needs to know she will have to find a different pathway for survival while attempting to practice.

Note 3: The best path way for Doctors is to go to the UK, get their residency done before moving to Canada as there is a bridging program for UK trained doctors.

Hello guys.

Please I am filling WES (ECA) for my wife.
She changed her middle name after gotten a AAT certicate. Should be fill in the name as it appears on the certificate in WES form?
She has applied for change of the middle name in ICAN and that has been approved. But the certificates (both AAT and ICAN) can not be reissued. They only issued a letter to support.

Should we fill the name exactly as it appears on her certificate (with the old middle name) or use the new middle name?
It should be as on the certificate, I also added a middle name to mine but WES evaluated what was on the certificate

some provinces like SINP have revoked people’s nominations in the past. There was a nigerian lady who lost her pr in 2019 , moved to ontario but left her husband in Saskatchewan. Both of them lost their pr. Some dont mind Like Ontario. A colleague went with Ontario pnp but got a job in New Brunswick. She wrote to OINP and there was not issues. Even though that charter stuff is there it wont cover deliberate misrepresentation of getting pnp and making no attempt to settle or stay.
I was just typing how to beat the lacuna when you sent this.

However, most people just play safe by applying for many jobs and recording the refusal. They then establish that they were unable to find employment and had to move to another Province to survive, people have done this in as little as two months.

GraciousWords:
As I understand it, PNPs usually require that you remain in the province that nominated you for a stipulated time period- unless there are certain unique circumstances exempting you.

You can use multiple NOCs - see FAQ 14 on page 1 if one of them the them, the primary one is at least 1 year continuous.
You are right though this remains a grey area due to the “Mobility Rights” under Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom that states all Citizens and PR holders can move to take up residence in any province and to pursue a livelihood in any province. As a result you will not find any official statement on how long you must remain in a province.

Hello everyone.

Please help!

My family expect ITA in this week. But, when my wife's (Principal Applicant) ECA came, there was an error in her year of birth (instead of 1994 it came with 1996), but all of her other documents remain 1994.

The error actually came from our end. We have contacted the ECA body we used, but it can't be corrected.

Please, I need your suggestions and advise.

Thank you, all.
They are meant to use the date from the school

Any advice to someone unsure of which province to pick from? I am an electrical engineer if that helps.
Mentioning that you are an Electrical Engineer gives me the feel that you are asking for economic reasons. Electrical Engineers are needed every where so you will not struggle much in any province with respect to a job. The rest you can search online about the attractions of each province of which I’ll be surprised if you haven’t already as Canada is not “a place”.

When you apply for WES verification, you get a reference Code with which you will apply for a Transcript. The school will send the transcript to WES with the reference you provided.

Hello everyone,

I need help please. Finally wrote IELTS (27/01, CBT) and maxed it so my score is now 502. The problem is I don’t have my TRF from IDP yet so I don’t know what to fill in for “Date of Test Results” in my profile in the pool. I don’t want to miss out on ITA while waiting for the TRF. Is there something I can do?

Note: I don’t know what date the results were released as I didn’t get an email from IDP notifying me of the results. I checked the result portal on the 7th day and the results were there.

I haven't, still learning. But there is a TEF thread here on nairaland chock full of information (books, articles) and encouragement. There is someone that did it in 6 months. It requires huge committment.
You will need guidance in the first few months in the form of a teacher though.

We’ve explored all these options, education(masters), IELTS, Age etc. except French, cause I don’t have any knowledge there.

It is well… will probably just wait to gather more work experience then.
Why not gather French with it? Cest possible
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by Profgordons(m): 1:23pm On Feb 05, 2023
Adunnishugar:
Hello house,

Please I’m new to this thread as I just recently started considering moving from UK to Canada via the FSW. Please I have quite a few questions.

So first, my major dilemma is this, my husband has a “sister” who is a Canadian Citizen. When he was very young his family fell on tough times and he went to live with her mum. She brought him up through most of his childhood and there are pictures to prove this. Only issue is there was no legal adoption done. But to me she is a mother to him in every sense of it. I even got to know her first before meeting his biological mother.

So the thing now is his sister in Canada keeps insisting we should apply and claim that he has a sister who is a citizen (this will bring our points up to 470). I asked her how she plans for us to prove the relationship and she said it is not a big deal and can be done with a letter from her and childhood pictures. I did not want to keep disputing her on this but I really doubt that would be enough evidence. So my question now is, please is there any way we can officially prove they siblings? Or should we not claim the additional points?

Also, If claim and if we don’t claim this, our CRS score will be 470 or 455 accordingly.
Do we stand a chance of being given ITA this year?
People do this and get away with it, the onus is on you to show that there is blood connection. There are few other ways to add points which are not as cumbersome as the route you are exploring like, learning French, added certificate, maxing out IELTS etc. Have these options been explored? We don’t support illegality here!

I know this might have been answered previously, pardon me.

If my study application is already on processing, or the visa approved, and I then receive an ITA, am I permitted to abandon my studies and focus on my EE to get a job full time?

For such a situation, what is expected from an applicant?
Of course yes, they are mutually exclusive events

This is my own case. I got the NOI, but I will lose 5 out of my current 482 in April. Quite confusing on way forward whether to wait for federal or just go ahead with this. That 1,500CAD is a lot.
There are several ways to look at it, the scare for most people is the coming TEER invitation system. One thing I can guarantee you is that what the Federal wants is not far from what Ontario wants, meaning the same people who got Ontario nominations will most likely benefit from the TEER driven invitations. 482 will get, even 480, but if you drop below that, then you are depending on the TEER system to favour you.

If you don’t mind living in Ontario for a few years, not sure you should worry about the fees as you will recover this in no time, in my opinion, there will be at least three draws in the next 45days, monitor the trend before you push the send button on the 45th day.

I did it and so many during my time did it. I wonder why they always compete so closely with the federal govt.
They are trying to outsmart the other Provinces, they know the scores are going to come down and those desired professionals are going to be scattered to other Provinces through Federal so why not grab them early. Fact is that even without doing anything unless your birthday is close or IELTS expiring, it is almost certain that those who got nominations now will still get FSW in few weeks. Now it is left to balls and gut feelings.
