But how did the snake get into the WC?

It usually occur when there's a hole through which the snake enter the soak-away tank outside or the pipes outside are broken or the septic chamber outside is broken. The snake now crawls from the tank or any of the other ways into the W/C through the pipe connected to it. It can now hide under the sides if it's a small one on in the discharge pipe or simply curl up inside the place. Any unfortunate person that tries to use the W/C will be bitten by it. It can even crawl out of the W/C and enter the house.
A precaution is to check the WC before use, always have light on. FORM A HABIT OF POURING KEROSENE INSIDE YOUR WC FROM TIME TO TIME.
WITH THIS MEASURE THE SNAKE CAN'T COME NEAR BECAUSE THE ODOUR OF KEROSENE SCARS IT AWAY. I HEARD THAT POURING SIZABLE QUANTITY OF SALT WORKS TOO.

Okay to help you understand. People were ready to vote but APC wasn't relying on votes to win. They were relying on the violence they brought and the IPOB order to keep people away from voting, to enable them rig. However by God's grace, at the last minutes, IPOB rescinded their stay-at-home order and this destabilised them. It was divine intervention. With IPOB's action, the security forces were more relaxed to do their work and more people had confidence to vote, though much more stayed away still. Nobody envisaged a peaceful atmosphere for the voting and that miraculous peaceful atmosphere was what overwhelmed APC and before they could restrategise, the election was over.

A situation where the church now call people that don't do it sinners is the reason I speak against it. It should be optional and not mandatory, and people should not be shamed in the church for not doing it. The church is the one in the wrong.
As for statutory marriage, it's not compulsory but if you would be involved in the affairs of the state whereby the administrative policy of the state require that you present a marriage certificate, then you have to do it. If not no one shames you or calls you a law breaker if you didn't do statutory wedding.
