It's the job of the Nigeria police to carry out proper investigation into the matter and not fully accepting what the landlord reports.He might be influential but that doesn't in any way makes this case a win for him,I hate it that your narration boils down taking the issue as act of tribalism,mind u, many and more cases like this happens day in and out to diverse ethnicity.if genuine documents are available to fight the case of the land ,then no cause for alarm ,and for those arrested hope they find justice hastily .

My response to the OP was just me saying on a lighter note that the current issue with his wife is not a enough reason to leave a stable country where he is living well to Nigeria that is extremely bad at the moment. I'm sure he likely sold all his properties to relocate there. People who are settled here with jobs and all are finding it difficult to cope in this harsh economy not to talk of the OP who wants to move back in a haste, probably he hasn't even saved enough capital to set up a business in Nigeria. Is the suffering and hardship he'll likely face with kids for that matter worth it?
There are better ways to handle the current issue, like get an additional job, just make sure he earns more her. Communicate effectively with his wife, not shout. Let her know the effect of her actions on the family especially the kids and then come up with a solution together.

This reminds me of the night I was detained by police for losing the luggage a yahoo passenger I put inside the boot. Which was later discovered to be removed by the passengers friend that dropped him at the park as I was about to move the vehicle.
When it was beginning to turn to jungle justice by 6 of these passengers working together, I demanded we settle this matter at the nearby police. Before we got to the police, these two fraudsters asked me how much I was willing to pay them to end the case. I told them nothing because I was innocent and I had nothing to do with the bad kept inside the boot. When we drove inside the gate they narrated everything to the police, one of them took the female police handling the case aside and offered her a reward if she comply with them. That's when the case took a twist. She returned and started accusing me of taking their bag that I must provide it. Because it was already late at night I was detained, my phone and wallet was registered. Before then I managed to put a call across to my family informing them I was being detained, giving them the location of the station. I was ushered into a dirty, horrible and congested small cell containing 23 inmates.
In the morning, I requested to have my phone so I could call my people, they declined my request. I also requested to have a part of my money registered at the counter so as to buy food because I'm having ulcer. The request was also declined. I was taken inside the cell without granting any of my requests. But after 30 minutes, my family arrived the station. I was called out. My dad sobbed profusely seeing me handcuffed because they knew I was innocent. He placed a curse on the female police officer who received a bribe to comply with the accusers if am innocent which he was confident of. In front of my mum, one of the police officers slapped me, threatening that he would make sure am taken to court which would sentence me to 6months, forcing me to admit to taking the bag, I refused. Having seen that I was not willing to accept guilt, He took me inside their office and continued the intensified torture with handcuffs. I told them even if they kill me, I will never admit to what I didn't commit. Having seen that these corrupt officers were not ready to stop the torture, I agreed that I will settle outside court with these fraudsters who were demanding 400k.
While these were happening, my dad informed his friend who's a renowned human right activist lawyer who arrived immediately to handle the case.
The presence of the SAN brought fear to the police and in jittery mood the corrupt female police officer had to get me to write a statement while they open a case file. I wrote everything, specifying how I was manhandled and tortured in the station as instructed by my attorney. They rejected it and gave me another letterhead statement sheet. I made some corrections but still insisted on the torture and manhandling and also highlighted on the unfairness of the police in taking side with the accuser without giving me a benefit of doubt. To cut the long story short. I asked my attorney who was willing to pursue this case to the end to allow me settle this outside court so I could continue my business. He was able to beat down the price with the prosecutors.
I was released after effecting the payment.

That's so absurd, making payment after being wrongly accused,Anyway that's Nigeria for us all.

The interior though! Good for those who love simplicity.
