well he isnt sending replies through me. i copy and paste some. but u failed one thing there. nigeria also did not exist as a nation before d british came. also no nation existed here before they came. so that is where you're wrong.
We are saying the same thing. However it seems you are more interested in looking for areas where you can simply trumpet "you're wrong" rather than looking at the merits or demerits of the debate.

Yes Nigeria did not exist before the British came but answer this simple question as correctly raised by Shango's post: Was the US a creation of the British unlike Nigeria?
We, like most African nations and other trouble spots of the middle east, did not have the priviledge of deciding our own borders, constituent nationalities and even names of our countries! Ask yourself why majority of the old British colonies are in crisis today - Nigeria, Iraq, Pakistan e.t.c. - what is the unifying factor? They are all completey different nationalities cobbled together to form an artificial nation on the whims of the British.

shango you're actualy very wrong about american dveloping internally. the country was divided up and colonised by the british. they fouhgt for independednce and got it. meanwhile where is donzman to talk again? he went to chxta's blog to say what he said here and chxta answered him. since then he has not said anything again. it will be good if some peeps do d same so that they can learn instead of forming scholar here.
- this is inherently false. The British did not really "colonise" the USA like you would say they colonised Nigeria. Those who founded the American state where British immigrants themselves who continued to pledge allegiance to the British throne until they decided to revolt and stand as a separate nation. The English on the other hand came to us and forced us into a system of subjugation while stealing our resources.
- The US was in no way "divided up" by the British. In fact, the founding fathers of the US purchased several of the present states from original owners, Alaska, purchased from the Russians, is a classic example. The US, as a nation of immigrants, did not exist before 1776 so the British could not have divided up what was not there.

Let Chxta himself send his rejoinders through you since you have no oppinions of your own rather than sitting on his blog and forming scholar there.

What are we to go and learn from his blog? That Nigerians should go and build private windmills while government continues to steal billions meant for electricity generation?

Wake up mr. Sijien! Ask Chxta whether he has a private windmill in his house. Yet he enjoys 24hrs electricity provided by responsible governments while advocating that you go build ur private local government while the political office holders feed fat on your own taxes and oil revenue. Whether or not we form scholar here or not, it is you who is at the relative disadvantage. Let us know when you "change ur attitude" as Chxta has advocated. Until then we will continue to enjoy the benefits of living in societies where governments are alive to their responsibilities and the ignorance of the people do not deny them their rights to an acceptable standard of living.

I would give your guy a big pat on the back for being honest enough to face you with the truth! Dear, how many guys would tell you they still have feelings for their ex knowing that it could be the end of your relationship?
Yes he has feelings for his ex, who of us here can say we've never been in the boat before?

Sit him down, that is why you both are in a relationship; pour ur hearts out and let him know how you feel. Its either he chooses you or decides to go back to his ex.

It is a way of preventing immorality in the house of God. if men weren't surrounded by women or vice versa, they would not engage in lustful admiration.
this is a very senseless answer. It says a lot about the authenticity of ur religion when men and women have to be separated by screens in the mosque to avoid lustful admiration. What about life outside the mosque when men and women have to mingle together as a matter of unavoidability? It is now okay to continue sinning?

Humans are regarded as higher animals because they can keep their urges under control. If muslim men need to chain their women in order not to degenerate to the level of dogs on heat then it is a huge shame.

lol we all know the average muslim does not like people who never give up. I'm not surprised many of u run away from threads that have myself and pilgrim.1 involved. The typical muslim is afraid of being exposed.

Even Shahanwho raised the initial question has decided to hold her peace.
are you advocating we also hold our peace?

Abidebyme:
On a lighter note‚ this thread is about dealing with stereotypes and no one is here for a brawl. You guys don't have to get so up tight.
I offered an English answer to a question posed in English Language; where lies the crime herein? Do you really think it would have helped you at all if the answer came in Arabic?
I really love u guys so please‚ don't get yourselves unnecessarily worked up over this. i believe that my earlier posts suffice‚ in all ramifications‚ as answers to the original question so‚ if you have any other real questions‚ feel very free to ask. grin

Peace!
you have not offered any answers but merely your own way of dribbling round an embarrasing issue that has stumped several muslims. What if the english language and the oxford ditionary did not exist how would you have explained it? How do muslims who dont understand english explain the same verse away?
Christianity EtcRe: The 5-pillars Of by PTH(m): 12:40am On Aug 17, 2007
doyenn, it is clear that muslims are surreptitiously adopting christian principles to whitewash islam and make it more presentable to others.

doyenn:
It's just as the building blocks of faith.before we start Worshipping God,it's necessary to check this features or has anyone ever jump into secondary school without first completing his/her primary school or into a university without going through college.

B4 we worship God at all,it's compulsary to start at the grassroot which is what God says that we must know him before we worship him and by knowing him,it's simply means we would must have faith in what he can do which is the 1st pillar(Faith)

If there is no faith in our mind, there is no way we can worship him or even believe in what he can do.After having faith in him,it's would be easy to worship him,we would not have to be dragged before we go to the mosque for worshipping.
what is the islamic definition of the term "faith" based on the quran or hadiths and not just your own vague interpretation? Where in the quran did allah clearly claim that he would do anything for you if only you have faith?

Anyone reading this without having any idea of what religion you are would automatically conclude you were speaking directly from the book of Hebrews!

shango:
I read CHxta's post and there is much he got wrong. A whole lot.

The difference between Nigeria and states like Western Europe and the USA is they developed themselives internally. They werent created by outside forces. No one drew the map of the US they created it on their own. Nigeria is a country with a Moslem North, Protestant West and Catholic East. It is a State also split along ethnic lines geographically as well as Linguistic wise. These are FACTS not backwards thinking. There is no succesful state that has such divisions. A Nation needs uniformity in certain aspects and Nigeria has none. You cannot adopt the artificial constructs placed on a country by outsiders and create a great nation. IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED AND IT NEVER WILL. Great nations arise internally. From our name to our borders, those where given by outsiders.

Great nations are created through revolution. ALWAYS. Your solution of picking yourself up by your bootstraps is farcical. What do you think people do day in day out in Nigeria or in Diaspora every day? You think people in Nigeria do not work hard enough for a living? That they just let their areas flood because they are stupid and just dig their head in the stand. That is the sound of an elitist.

And to think the person advocating this change in attitude and grab yourselves by the bootstraps attitude IS NOT EVEN IN NIGERIA BUT IS IN THE WEST. Talk about hypocrisy of the highest magnitude. How is earning a Masters abroad and making money abroad helping Nigeria? Why not bring your earned smarts or degree and come back to Naija and put it to use building a bussiness to rebuild infastructure that our government isnt providing? Please name your bussinesses doing such as you claim that is the way out and not politics. Or will you give the old tired excuse that "I am working on it" or "Someday Soon" ?

Nigerian Elitism is one of the major factors keeping Nigeria back. Chxta has it in spades, its disgusting.
I hope the usually ignorant Aisha2 is reading this piece.

why must muslims fight us to seek more knowledge about their religion? Is it by force?
PoliticsRe: Wallowing In Ignorance by PTH(m): 5:55pm On Aug 16, 2007
What to do?

We talk about the lack of infrastructure in Nigeria, but then we all sit down and wait for the government to provide it. True, it is the government's responsibility, but when government continuously fails, a little bit of self help would go a long way. We hardly see that in Nigeria. Compare a mindset like that of the Malawian kid, William - who went out to build a windmill from scrap plastic and wood to power his family home in rural Malawi - to the typical Lagos residents whose homes and streets always get flooded every year but will choose to grunt and grumble and live life as it is.
Here is just one of the "solutions" that Chxta has proposed - in essence since we lack infrastructure in Nigeria, he advocates that rather than hold the government to ransom as is done in countries serious about development we should all get up and provide it ourselves.
I ask myself, Chxta, why didnt you and your friends gather money and patch all the bad roads in Lagos instead of complaining? What effort did you put in to repair the sewers in your street in Lagos instead of writing long and essentially meaningless write ups in your cosy home in the UK?

Why travel to the UK to take a masters degree? Since the Nigerian government would not restructure our schools why didnt you do it urself just like your Malawian example. If every Nigerian built windmills just to provide energy for their family do you know how much worse the housing situation in Lagos and Abuja would get?
Where would the typical family in Oshodi living under the bridge site their windmills? On the bridge?

Lets be honest, since you've been living in the UK, how many families have you seen operatiing personal windmills? What makes their own government different from ours? What is the point of voting in political officers, having them collect oil revenue on our behalf when we still have to use our meagre resources that are not even enough to give us 2 meals a day to provide infrastructure for ourselves?

Going by your analysis, we would have to provide jobs for ourselves, generate our own electricity, supply our own water, build our own personal schools, repair our own personal highways e.t.c. why dont we just do away with government altogether?

@ tats, your post just made my day on this section.
I hope all the ignorant members of the "i love Nigeria" brigade who simply swallowed everything Chxta said without bothering to weigh the merits or demerits of his argument and labeled us "haters" and "ignorant" folks can read your post and have a radical rethink.

I see the "attitude" argument as just one more way of rationalising away the real problem which is that of leadership as you have rightly pointed out. How many of our looters er leaders have come out to accuse the citizenry of not being patriotic enough when they are the ones siphoning our taxes and oil revenue?

We announce budgets of "hope" every year worth billions of dollars and yet there is no food on our tables, our roads are death traps, airports doo not have radar in the year 2007, our hospitals are mere mortuaries and some says our only problem is that of attitude?
Will changing my attitude tar my street or make NEPA more efficient?
