I hope my question would be answered here. For someone joining his family in Canada on SOWP, is he allowed to book a one way ticket from Nigeria to Canada? Also, who has any link for affordable tickets please.

I need advice on my application. Me and my wife are tired and frustrated at the moment.

My wife is at Canada on study permit.

I applied for SOWP via an agent(Tar global) June 18th, 2022 and did my biometric June 23rd 2023. The last update on my application was medical exam passed which was on July 22nd, 2022. Since then, there was not update on my application.

Jan 31st, the agent contacted me that IRCC has changed the requirement for SWOP so they want to be proactive by sending my wife's Transcript and enrollment letter. Up till now, there is no update. I don't know what to do.

Congrats to everyone that got PPR recently.

I advise that you send her current transcript and LOE through webform. Add your marriage certificate, evidence of payment of bills by your wife, your Biometric slip, medical sheet, current bank account statement and any other document that is relevant. If possible get the sign in details from the agent and take charge. Godspeed!

So, I applied for my SOWP and Visitor Visa in July, 2022 with the hope that before October, 2022, I would get an approval for one. Days turned to months and nothing happened. My Spouse and kids moved to Canada in August, 2022 and you can imagine the loneliness and frustration on both sides. I sent several webforms and emails to no avail. All I got was the generic response of IRCC dealing with volumes, bla bla bla. In November, 2022, I ordered my GCMS notes and it reflected that nothing was done on my application. Before that, I started contacting wifey's MP since September, 2022. While the MP responded that he made enquiries concerning my application, he was categorical that there's nothing he could do to influence any expedited action.

I got so frustrated. When I noticed that IRCC was attending to Visitor Visa at a faster rate having seen several PPRs for applications sent in January, 2023, I decided to apply for another Visitor Visa on 31st January, 2023. I asked my wife to send her current Letter of Enrollment, Transcripts and evidence of payment of bills like House rents and electricity bills and I used that for the new VV.

After submitting the new VV, I decided to send the same information via webform to IRCC for my SOWP with a letter that sounded like an appeal and a petition. I literally questioned why IRCC would attend to earlier cases and leave older ones unattended to. I told them of the damage the needless delay is doing to my family, especially my kids, who felt i have abandoned them. I added the following documents as well as the documents sent by wifey to the webform;

Previous visas to US, UK, France, and other countries
Marriage Certificate
6 month bank account statement
Current pay slip
Current letter of promotion
Company documents
E Medical sheet
Biometric slip
It was more like submitting documents for another SOWP.

Yesterday, I got a mail from IRCC Kenya acknowledging the webform and giving the same generic reasons for the delay, this time with a lot of admonition for patience. The mail is quite different from the usual generic one.
Lo and behold, my love letter dropped a day after (Today). I give glory to God. My eligibility did not even start, neither was my Biometric updated. The only update on the application was medical. Nothing else.
Here's my timeline;
Application submitted: 10th July,2022
Biometric completed: 6th July, 2022
Upfront Medical: April, 2022
PPR: 2nd February, 2023

Let me say this, I feel it is wrong not to apply for the whole family at once. I advise anyone who has the financial resources to do this once and for all. I followed some advice from the Study thread that I should apply for my family's Study permit 1st before doing my SOWP. The logic is that I would be the hometie. In retrospect, I felt it was a wrong move. I should have done the application at once since the financial resources were available.

My timeline:
Submitted 9th Nov
We had biometric from a visitor’s visa application submitted in June 2022. After waiting for 5 months, we decided to put in SOWP.

Eligibility started 29th Jan 2023
Medicals passed 29th Jan 2023
Medicals changed to we do not need medical exam, we will let you know bla bla bla 3rd Jan 2023, apparently our medicals expired.

4th Jan GCMS notes received and indicated “Review Required” on my eligibility for a document they claim my spouse didn’t submit. Apparently it was submitted initially but we sent again via webform.

We booked and did another medicals 16th Jan.
Qlife confirmed they had sent our medical results on 21st Jan 2023.

31st Jan 2023 at exactly 8:30pm our love letters landed.

Only God can do this. I promised I will share my timeline to encourage other people waiting.

Just yesterday, I was asking why people are not sharing their timeline to encourage pple because I was down and needed to read from people, but here I am sharing mine.

Please be encouraged. God is working behind the scenes for you.

That's the reason for the speed IRCC respect USA visa either expired or running! Congratulations

I have been to the US severally, the last being October 2019 shortly before Covid-19. My Visa just expired in 2021. This is in addition to being a regular visitor to UK, France and other countries
Yet, my visa is still pending since July, 2022. See, there are no rules to this thing. Just pray for luck

I applied in July, 2022. I applied for GCMS notes and it stated that criminal checks and medical passed. Information sharing in progress. I have sent countless webforms and emails. My spouse has contacted MP, who has also reached out to IRCC without any positive response. MP categorically said there's nothing he could do.

At this rate, I am hoping on God Almighty....

PPR !!! For a family of five.
My spouse traveled to Canada on student visa in August 2022. I applied for myself and three kids in October 2022.
Timeline
1. Family application, Sowp for me, study permit for two of the kids and visit visa for the third kid on the 21st October
2. Biometrics on the 27th October
3. Medical request by IRCC on the 28th November
4. Medical screening submitted on 27th and passed on 28th December
5. PPR on the 30th for all members of the family.

I appreciate nairaland as I did everything on my own and from information gotten here.

Note: I used the old gckey account my spouse used in getting her study permit.

Pls as soon as ur spouse lands in Canada you can put in ur application as it's not necessary to wait as most people presume.

Good Afternoon my people, My student visa application got approved recently together with my 2 years old boy. But im so confused right now as to whether to go with him or leave him behind, because I was told that I would not be able to work and as well the day care fee in Toronto is extremely expensive. I also have two other children 9 and 6 which we plan their application when I enter Canada together with my hubby

Please, I would needs your sincere advise as to whether to go with my two years boy or leave him behind for now.

I will strongly advise that you live him behind. Indeed, you will not be able to work if he goes with you except you camln afford the huge cost of daycare. I am speaking from experience.

We are such a lucky family through God our Strength. My Wife's admission and PPR was approved in less than 2 months. Now our SOWP application has been approved in less than 2 months.

SOWP Application = October 9th

Biometrics = October 10th

Passport Request/Medical Upfront Update = November 22.

We give God all the praise.

POF = Naira account - 8.5m
= Dollar account - 20,000 dollars

We did all the application our selves, but had Makano (one of the guru here to review all our documents before upload!!)

Its not mine but I have been here before to lament so it's only fair to share the news as well.
Sis In Law left on student visa January 2022.
Visiting visa for my brother and daughter was submitted same January 2022 and the wait started.
In August after reading plenty feedback here, I suggested we apply for SOWP for hubby and study permit for the daughter.
Application submitted August 18 and Medicals done upfront as well.
Another wait started up on till yesterday morning, there was still no movement on the application. Towards evening, we noticed movement (as we kuku dey check almost every sec..lol)
Voila...the long awaited arrived same 24th November.
My brother is yet to believe what just happened sef. God proved himself again at the 11th hour.
To those still expecting, please explore all you can..I can't even say specifically how we arrived here. Above all, God made it happen!!!
To those who probably submitted VV before and wondering if to proceed with SOWP....I will advise that you do and leave both applications open.
