lereinter: Sorry
You said.
You couldn't do the receptionist job well
What was expected of you that made you fail
Or
You were not interested in the job? i had no idea what to do. I was chased from the house by the elders who said it was disgraceful for me to be at home, after having issues at uniabj. I was rushed to this job and though i brought my CV it was more of a connection thing. I didnt even know what they were giving me until i was told by the boss. Didn't prepare nor know what it entails. I didn't complain as it reduced insults and pressure at home. Rather i tried to do the job. Its an easy job but i knew nil about working under someone. |

There's a difference between humimilty and lack of confidence.
You already felt you weren't good enough for the job and and every then felt that way.
Please search for art schools abroad and leave. Remember he who laughs last laughs best.
Use your experience to push yourself.
Wish you the best dear. thanks, i'm grateful. |

EagleSquare1: I have worked in some few schools and I believe the sweetest memories of your time in the school should be that which you spent with the little kids of the Nursery and Primary classes, and not that of the proprietress and her 2 teachers. Yeah the kids swarmed on me the first day i came back, they were happy to see me, they shouted my name, hugged me, all of them, telling me how old they are now etc. Some even saw me today and said ' are you going now? '. Kids make us happy abeg, little forming. I was so happy that day that they all got up when they saw me. So happy. |

ireke: I'm happy you know your lapses and you said you're working on getting better. You also seem to write well. Kudos.
Can we just change the narrative of the last visit. What happens if you give them parting gift - artwork they expected you to beg to be paid for?
If you want, I'll pay for the artwork and you just give it to them as your parting gift. That way, you're able to have a different memory of your last time there as you enjoy the confusion on their faces when you tell them you're giving them something instead of begging for something. What do you think? I have really tried to do a lot of art to make them happy......especially with this your idea in mind. But things still ended like this. I am wary now, and i'm tired. It is time to let go. I cant force them. I believe the aim of ending on a bad note has worked out. I loved them but i never succeeded in being at peace with them. I have to let them be. God bless 'em. |

leighcon: Purples25, I have about 14 years od corporate experience and I can tell you for free that your issue is ego, something you need to work on. It is the sole reason you were not able to succeed as a receptionist - it is the most basic of all jobs. There was no humiliation in the event you narrated, rather, they are the ones that will be too ashamed to ask for your services in future. Keep working on yourself, every human being is a work in progress. If you must succeed, you have to learn how to overlook embarrassments that come along. Take a cue from bus conductors, they get insulted by even those who cannot afford to pay, yet, they carry on. A number of them become owners of fleet of vehicles later in life. Dangote started life selling Sugar, Salt etc with no label of his own. Yes, he was from a privileged background and started big, but hey gaddem it, dude was selling Sugar, Salt, name it. Today, he is a brand. I know i have issues. Working on them. Thanks. |

yeyeosoronga: If you're really good with art work, live drawings, animations or whatever they call all those beautiful artistic pieces, get materials to draw, create some pieces, and start posting on Instagram. Also start following art galleries in nigeria, other artists and comment on their work/ pages. Contact them to find out if you can do shows/ exhibitions in their galleries. Start creating quality artwork with relatively quality materials. Let your hobby start earning you money dear. By the time you're more established, you can probably start going round schools and teaching them arts and crafts for good money. All negotiated. I've started in that direction, thanks. |

thelastmediator: Identify the skills you lack, try to learn them via online courses and some other convenient means. The truth is you're going to need them later in your working life. I can deduce you seriously lack negotiation skills and you're going to need that to get to the peak of any career you settle for.
If you have pictures of the art works you did at the school, you can use that to get yourself offers from other schools or individuals that might need your service. Yes, my friend who is a successful artist has told me the same and i'm reading more and all that, also improving in my art. |

Londonboyrep: Sorry to burst your bubble but if you cannot perform basic admin tasks associated with being a receptionist then what hope is there for you in any sort of white-collar job? Sorry to be blunt but the skills you need as a receptionist is a starting point for ALL other roles. I cannot deny that, like i said, i'm improving on myself. I just dont like the way i was treated even after leaving. The experience from this job will guide me on how to handle the next. |

Richdad50:

You have no visible talent in your place of work and you also lack the fundamentals of common sense. You place no value on yourself and like a coin, you are being tossed and teased out of position, comfort, and schedules.
Anyone who offers no value receives no respect and anyone who places no worth on self can never force the hands of others to do same.
Richdad i blame myself for going back. I was trying to be humble making no real deals. My fam said just for little money that im risking humiliation. I blame myself really. And to a large extent you are right. |

CsRockefeller: Sorry about that, it's really not easy starting again. Your best option is studying outside because the land here is dry and hard.
If you must start over here, please, make it a private school since age isn't too friendly right now.

CsRockefeller: What about your school, have you sorted yourself out? Yes. I may even be out of the country by next year. Find my feet while staying with relatives, start studying there. If my family changes the plan of sending me there, arrangements have been made for me to start over here. I went to the university of abuja but had serious issues with my result, couldn't be transferred to another uni, so after going to the university for how many years, had to start over. |

slizzyb: Sorry Thanks. Even if i get employment in another place, once i leave i am not coming back. They didn't even tell me the deal was off, they let me come back and then ignored me. It wasn't enough that they let me off the main job early and i still came to do something small. It was just that they wanted me to look like i needed them, they needed the last memory of me to make them look superior. I dont blame them. I could have left and never come for anything but they had to do it this way, ignoring me. |
