candidtalk:
When you're naturally talented and gifted yet able to remain modest, and refrain from chestbeating, then it is easy for people to undervalue your worth and achievements. That is the case with Yorubas. We are humble and don't 'loud it' so people don't really appreciate what we are about and how far ahead of others we are.

When you are insecure and very envious of others you will amplify even the most modest achievement because you care more about proclaiming superiority over others, and proving a point to them, than anything else. This is the case with Igbos and the reason they overhypeand over-celebrate anything and everything their fellow Igbos do. However miniscule and mundane.

We don't need to beat hairy chest and brag about like some spoilt brats do, because over here (SW Yoruba) success is normal.

Unlike some people that open countless threads to massage their frail ego and feed their inferiority complex for as little as class captain position in Somalia.

Not today, see how they lied against awoo but his children and grandchildren are all doing great. Ask them, where are their ojukwu children. Ask them what happened to ojukwu family,

Karma has caught up with them.
Their problem is, most of them relies on oral history (lies and propaganda) passed from generation to generation. You can never see them premise their argument on facts, all they know is what uncle Shukudi told them under the mango tree in the village and lately what Nnamdi Kanu preach to them every Sunday on his radio biafra.

IF ONLY YOU ARE A LITTLE BIT EDUCATED AND INFORMED, YOU WOULD AV KNOWN THAT UNN IS A FEDERAL UNIVERSITY - MEANNING ITS WHOLLY OWNED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

AND UNLIKE ITS COUNTERPARTS LIKE ABU, OAU, UI, UNIMAID - UNN HAS BEEN STARVED OF FUNDS AND MAINTENANCE FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS.

GO CHECK THE EDUCATION BUDGET AND SEE THE HUGE SUMS ALLOTTED TO OTHER FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES AND UNN IS LEFT WITH ALMOST NOTHING.
Please stop this your usual victim mentality and emotional blackmail. UNN is one of the highest earning University when it comes to FG allocation.
All federal Universities are infrastructurally deficient, but UNN's own is just too gory, an eyesore.
The school simply lack good administration.

This is beyond the Speaker's power. This request really made me to weep tonight.

I know Dino Melaye will also be somewhere thinking about various limitations and injustices Okun people have suffered. Dino as a member of House or Reps in 2007 used himself to protect the embattled Speaker - Mrs Etteh from physical assault during the crisis at the floor of House.

Pa Abraham Adesanya several years back reminded us that Chief Obafemi Awolowo protested the grouping of the Okun people into Northern region. Anybody travelling by road to Abuja will notice the level of abandonment of these people. Only Chief Awoniyi and few others benefited from their Northern classification.

Emeritus Prof Banji Akintoye the man chosen by the gods of Yoruba land to lead the Yoruba World Congress has a lot of works to do. The internal opposition from MURIC, Tinubu's Presidential ambition and FG contracts apologists is very enormous.

One step at a time. This topic is about Okun people but at the very beginning, Kwara people brought in Kwara issue. We know about Kwara issue but Okun people want to join the Okun people in Yoruba land. This request is not possible at the National Assembly. It is a restructuring issue. It is a freedom fighting issue. The foundation must be laid for this generation and future generation to work upon. We all witnessed the Arotile's abracadabra.

Tinubu's ambition is a personal ambition that has no benefit to the South West people because of our culture of equity. Restructuring is the major ambition of the South West people.
Hmmmm, you're right.

since you know more about the security situation of the market than the CSO of the market?
"I was asked to send a woman away from the market because she was seen with Oshiomhole during campaign.

"They then said I should mobilise traders to follow Obaseki to PDP and vote for him but I told them that everybody had the choice to vote for whoever they want.

"Suddenly today, over 10 PDP thugs in the area came into the market and started shooting sporadically.

"Everybody had to run for their lives. As it is now, nobody has been able to return to the market," Chief Sunny Erahengbo, Chief Security Officer of the market, narrated to SaharaReporters.

He added that the thugs were escorted by some police operatives.

He urged the state police command to ensure the safety of residents in the community.

"The Commissioner of Police should please do the needful and secure our lives and our traders.

"The police should take action before things turn around and people are being killed," Erahengbo added

I must admit that the APC/Ize-Iyamu social media/Nairaland team is doing a great job of posting anti-Obaseki news.

I just got into Lagos from Benin, where I spent about 5 days.

From what I saw in Benin and the interactions I had with the residents, there is absolutely no way Ize-Iyamu can win the forthcoming elections without manipulations.

The news that the APC team keeps posting on Nairaland is effective to make their followers to feel good, however, it is no reflection of the reality in Edo State.
You can't be too sure bro, the election is 50/50.
The APC controls the Edo North while the PDP have the upper hand in Edo Central. The battle ground is Edo South, with the APC having the advantage of MEN (Ize iyamu himself, Capt Hosa, Kabaka etc).

It's going to be a tough call.

Good...that means you have read down.
So what has what you posted got to do with injustice or Osu caste system?
You're definitely against the supreme court judgement which invariably means you support the subjugation of the female child or what injustice can be greater than the profiling of children base on their gender.
You gave birth to two children (a boy and a girl) and after your demise the boy takes all your estates and your daughter is left with nothing and you say that's not injustice or you gave birth to only female children and you die without a will and your brothers and uncles chase them out of their father's property(ies) because they are female children and you call that justice?

I only brought the comparison of sharia and the Osu caste system to expose your hypocricy.
You malign the north for religiously sticking to their inhumane traditions and Laws (Sharia) but here you're running from pillar to post justifying that of yours.

That is hypocritical of you.

What is injustice in what this man said?

Please have a grasp of issues before screaming injustice, or you read down the thread.

I don't know how Osu caste system came into this.
Please stop being clever by half, the argument is based on your submission on this thread and not the opinions of those who are for or against the supreme court judgement.

That you are not Igbo and desperate to toe a narrative is funny.

I have heard you. It is noted. If and when they start filing the cases, we will then know what to do.
The way you guys justify injustice in the name of archaic culture/tradition is the same way Islamic extremist justifies their callous act using sharia.
While Islamic terrorist are a slave to their stone age Sharia, you and your ilks are in shackles of your repugnant discriminatory culture/tradition.

Funny enough you folks will be the first to call out the north on Sharia, but you turn a blind eye and even justify your own discriminatory culture (Osu caste system, subjugation of women etc).
Laws, Cultures, traditions are made for men and not the reverse.

PoliticsUPDATED: Gbajabiamila Visits Ghana Wednesday Over Diplomatic Squabbles by PVision2020(op): 9:09pm On Sep 01, 2020
...$1m levy on Nigerian traders

by Chuks Oluigbo Sep 1, 2020

Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, will be visiting Ghana on Wednesday to sort out the diplomatic misunderstanding between Nigeria and Ghana.

Gbajabiamila disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday after visiting President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, saying he was at the State House purposely to discuss with the president on the diplomatic row, describing his planned visit as ‘Legislative Diplomacy’.

The Speaker, who said he has got Buhari’s backing to embark on the trip, stated that he would meet with his Ghanaian counterpart, Aaron Oquaye, to find ways of resolving the face-off.

“I am leaving for Ghana tomorrow (Wednesday) to meet with the Speaker of the parliament in Ghana to look at the issues on ground as they affect our citizens and to try and calm things down and see if there is a way forward,” Gbajabiamila said.

“I will meet with the Speaker tomorrow (Wednesday). I informed the president and he is aware of every single step that we are taking, all the way, and we hope that we will come to an amicable settlement one way or the other.

“It is called legislative diplomacy. If you remember very well, during the days when I was Leader of the House, I led the delegation to South Africa during the crisis there with Nigerians and we were able to accomplish quite a bit, to simmer things down at that time.

“No demands, we are just going to discuss in the spirit of African parliaments and we will be looking at issues from time to time as they affect African countries, and this is one of them.

“I don’t want to make any statement at this time so that we don’t exacerbate matters. Like I said, we are looking for amicable solutions. The Ghanaians have their take on what is going on, we have our own take. We will see how we can marry the two takes and come to a solution.

“We are two strong West African countries and there must be symbiosis, we must work together. You don’t get anything from working at cross purposes or knocking heads together. We must, at all times, as Africans, work as best as possible together and that’s what this my trip is about,” he said.
