PoliticsCovid-19: APC Reacts To Governor Wike’s Broadcast by PVision2020(op): 8:21pm On Apr 17, 2020
3 hours ago on April 17, 2020, By John Owen Nwachukwu

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has reacted to Governor Nyesom Wike’s Friday’s broadcast to the State.

The party insinuated that Wike’s broadcast, threats and name-calling before the world has further exposed his governance style.

Wike had, among other things, said he would not allow anyone from Abuja give him directives in Rivers, adding that he was duly elected by the people.

Wike also attacked some chieftains of the APC namely, Chief Eze Chukwuema Eze and Chris Finebone.

The governor had also threatened to declare a total lockdown on the state should the people continue to flout his directives on the closure of markets and other business places.

He had also threatened companies in the State who failed to contribute towards the state COVID-19 fight.

Reacting to the Governor’s speech, Spokesperson for the APC in Rivers State, Chris Finebone, said the broadcast has further exposed the Governor.

Finebone said it would be a waste of adjectives to try to qualify the briefing and the governor’s performance, adding that the world saw and heard him.

The APC’s mouthpiece said this in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday.

He said, “In my decision not to join issues with anyone or the Rivers State Government on COVID-19 matters, I will not respond to the issues raised by Gov. Nyesom Wike in his press briefing today.

“I am convinced that to all those who either were present at the briefing or watched it on TV, or even those who listened on the radio, the governor’s demeanour and utterances before the world during the briefing have sufficiently provided an eloquent response to his briefing.

“Therefore, it will be a waste of adjectives to try to qualify the briefing and the governor’s performance. The world saw and heard him.

“I am very sure that the corporate organisations he threatened with reprisal actions if they did not donate to the state COVID-19 fund can sufficiently speak for themselves.

“However, I feel sad that the governor climbed down from the high office of governor to engage in name-calling and insult.

The governor did not need to have taken it personal with me and Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze by referring to Chief Eze as that ‘Ibo boy’. In Africa, respect is given to age and I am sure that Chief Eze is years older than the governor.

“In any case, I and Chief Eze never, directly or indirectly under any circumstances, canvassed, solicited or ever will accept anything under the leprous Wike government or his party in Rivers State.”

Ask ten Aviation expert about the Aviation sector and you can be assured they won't come up with the same thing.

Criticize constructively and give your opinion, it will be foolish of anyone to take any post on NL Hook, line and sinker, that's why NL is a forum just like Quora, everybody contributes and we all learn

I wonder why most of you leave the substance an attack the symptoms. Wike is 100% right on this . There is a lock down in river state , the minister should have informed the state government of their coming. He is not doing that to take permission but to inform the state , knowing fully well there’s a lock down in the state. This is still in the quest to prevent possible spread of the virus. Even wike acknowledged he does not have powers to stop flights from coming into the airport, all he asked for is to be carried along, only for the useless federal government in its characteristic way of been incompetent n careless to ignore n give a clearance into a state without the knowledge of the governor in place.
All you said above are mere moral justifications, by law and procedure, Aviation authorities do not require the consent of any state Governor whether there is lockdown, curfew or War.
Even if the airport is owned by the state, Ports (Both Air and Sea) and Borders are exclusive of the FG.
Wike knows he's legally wrong, he's just playing to the gallery

Wrong on whose side?
So his been informed to you means he must get the manifest...was that what you heard?
What does the procedure of law say about States and lands therewith?

Well I have explained it to you....the same thing you are doing is what Sirika is doing which will lead to nowhere.

Caverton has been sealed, the pilots have been remanded in custosy as declared by the Courts. Sirika can give orders to unseal the place if he isn't pleased.

If he is unsatisfied, he can prosecute the RVSG, which I wouldn't advise.

If you are close to Sirika, the best advise for him is to call the Executive Gov of the State and iron out issues with him. No need for this back and forth.

So that we can sort out the primary issue before us.
Please show me any law that backs' up Wike's actions....
Wike requested for the manifest i.e the identity of the people on board.
The FG controls Aviation, Caverton landed on a FG property (NAF Base), Caverton got permission from every necessary agencies of Govt before embarking on the flight....
Mind you state high court does not have the capacity to hear a case in which a FG institution is part of....so just an exparte injunction from a Federal high court in sambisa will nullify the joke you called state high court.

There's no back and forth anywhere, Wike will simply be given the ameachi treatment and nothing will happen.

We will all be here when Wike and Rivers State either apologise, settle out of court or pay a heavy fine....

I don't distinguish between six and half a dozen.
Sanwo-olu won't say anything because it is his party.

Airport is an exclusive list but will this same people live in the airports?
Do you think the Gov of Lagos State is not pre-informed before the arrivals take place?

Sometimes these things are done out of respect, and not show of force all the time. If the airport is an exclusive list of the FG, are the roads also on exclusive list?

The Gov is the CSO of the State, and should be informed. What does it take?

Eventually, that is how it will end.
The Minister will call the Gov, they will sort it out and everything will go on. So why not do that in the first place?
So you admit this whole charade is all about politics and not about right or wrong/the rule of law.
So the governor of Lagos, Kano, Enugu, FCT Minister, receives the manifest of all the Airlines, Helicopter and Jets that lands in their domain every day right ... this a very petty argument.
So Sanwoolu should arrest Airpeace Pilots because he wasn't informed of their arrivals and also insist on seeing their manifest...
And you talk of respect...what does respect have to do with procedures and the rule of law?

Thank you, My bro....

The FG should have informed the State Govt especially because of prevailing circumstances.

Is the FG saying that they can ferry a million Covid-19 patients into Rivers State and nothing will happen because airports are in the exclusive list?

Will same people live inside the airport?

Wike might be anything but he is 100% right on this. Sirika is even making matters worse in this instead of using back-channels to reason with the Gov; he wants to prove he is Minister.

Sirika should go and open the Company nah, worse still it is in Wike's LGA...ngwanu

No be everything be power & might....sometimes diplomacy is bae.
Most of you guys know Wike is legally wrong, despite Lagos State being the epicenter of Covid 19, Sanwoolu does not have any legal stand to stop flight from coming in, till today people are still coming in through MMA. Aviation is the exclusive of the FG, the FG requires no consent from any state government even if the airport is state owned. The FG controls who comes in and when even if it's a privately owned airport, no aviation agency is state based and this applies in most nation's of the world. Even states does not have the right to close land borders (Federal roads), but we have a President who's docile so every state Governors as turn themselves to Defacto-President.
Wike dare not do this to an OBJ FG.
I know most people on this platform argue emotionally and not logically, but don't cry foul play when FG start dealing with Wike, we all knew how Goodluck and Wike frustrated Ameachi.

GM and Ford are to provide support to existing ventilator manufacturing companies. Is not like they are producing their own ventilators.

Of course there's a difference. But the principles are the same which is why their plants are being used.
Let's not deceive ourself, no firm in Nigeria posseses the technical know how and equipment to manufacture a ventilator. It requires optimum precision and accuracy.
Even GM, Ford and the consortium of American Automobile Industry are working in cooperation with GE healthcare a known manufacturer of ventilator. https://www.gehealthcare.com/products/ventilators
They don't have the ability and certifications to produce a ventilator all by them self.
Innoson can't produce a ventilator, and if he thinks he can, let him prove us wrong by showing a prototype.

Agboriotejoye:
You don't ask an automaker to produce a prototype. A ventilator works like a car AC so it's part of their production. I don't know where you guys got this idea of prototype from. Think about issues before typing at least. Did Trump ask GM and Ford for prototype before ordering them to produce?
An automaker you say, not an assembly plant of car parts like Innoson who source for parts from China.
And don't be deceived, thier's a huge difference in the manufacturing of a car AC/Vacum Cleaner and a Ventilator....a very big difference.

HVAC experts working for the big automobiles can go back to their drawing boards to produce a Ventilator but it's not an easy task, that's why it's taking them more time to produce a "little Ventilator" than what it takes to manufacture a whole car.
