I have a question.

You've been successful on Upwork. If you were to summarize it, what are FIVE things you did that helped get you to the point where you have offers coming at you rather than applying?

1. Consistency I've been on Upwork since it was odes, it's just recently I started getting traction.
2. Profile optimization, I bought a course from RemoteOliver on Twitter it was like 4 usd, you have to clean up your profile.
3. Portfolio matters alot, the better your portfolio, the higher your chances.
4. Niche skill, no point finding gigs with the only skill you know, you have to upskill
5. Good communication and over delivering, once I take up a project, I usually handle the direction myself without requiring input from the owner

Upwork has been consistent for me, this week I'm entering like 1k$ once they pay, but sometimes some clients do ghost, but I've gotten full-time clients from it, that I work it, I'm very good with my niche

thank you boss, I just took out the amount that'll be able to sustain me till next month, everything is stuck in my GEEGPAY account.

I'm still building, it's what I do 40% of the time. I have another Zoom call with one guy, tomorrow. Then, there's this Indian startup offering me 5000 INR but the offer is similar to a part-time offer. But again, I'm concerned about the fact that I am starting my career with remote companies, I am honestly wanted another offer in Nigeria too, at least let my past experience be a local company peradventure I want to apply to a Nigerian company so it doesn't seem like I'd be getting: " he'd not be able to cope with our work environment".

Personally Nigerian work pay doesn't pay much, I made my yearly Nigerian pay in a year in months from remote and Upwork, it means I can fast track my life.

Nothing like career life anymore it's all about money earned quickly

That's a negative mindset, there's niche gigs in Tech not the average crud apps, I'm on LinkedIn and recruiters are searching for "good" devs

Thanks. I know moodle. I'm pretty sure I can install and make modifications if need be.

Try this technique

1. Try and write some articles on Moodle on LinkedIn
2. Record a video explaining how to set it up and modify some code
3. Explain the development and make it a series on Youtube and most preferably LinkedIn
4. Add some Moodle title to your LinkedIn profile

and you will get some Recruiters hitting you up, the LinkedIn algorithm favours those who create contents.

All the best you could also try joining Moodle job boards too

I like your PHP code, did you watch my video, I would advise joining some communities, there are some gigs on Laravel but if you can learn Moodle, you will find yourself with gigs. PHP is still in demand thanks to WordPress and Laravel.

Being old is not a crime, I am very old too. Most Americans are old and still into tech, when I was in Atlanta in my early mid 30s, I was still one of the youngest.

We should remove ageism because we will all get old, it's the value we bring that matters.

OBS is great for this if its not getting your voice its because

1. You didn't set up the audio settings correctly
2. There something wrong with your mic.

OBS Studio is the best, it also comes with some nice filters.

This is why people don't give out money, even from credit loans, some Nigerians don't ever intend to payback.

I hope lost hope there in trying to land a gig.

I just focused on building my own personal project. been working on it on and off for close to three years now.
