What's your field on Upworks ? personally I'd say maybe try out Powerpoint Design, I saw a lot of gigs with little application there, I was tempted to apply.

The thing is Nigerians follow trends I kinda regret not learning PHP I am now stuck with other languages and I can't seem to bend toward PHP cause I got 2backend languages I use frequently and am learning another one for more job opportunities but not PHP but PHP will give you jobs. Same reason im learning C++ it's old but still relevant

It's never too late, with C++ you will have some insight in PHP to some degrees.

The highest money I made from a client came from reddit, I was actually going to /r/DeadBedrooms until i saw a notification for /r/chrome_extemsions where I saw the client's post and applied and now, I've push an update to store and cleared all the previous bugs and improved performance for that extension.

Sadly I don't know how to capitalize off reddit like that. it was a thing of luck and being prepared

Not really just want to know best practices for building one

So the moment you have a good OOP skills and a high level knowledge of the API design, because an SDK is meant to help developers to build on top your libr with little knowledge of how it works internally

So depending on what you want to offer to the user(developers)

You will need to write out, how you expect the developer to use the library.

My proposals are simple, each one is specific to the job but there is a consistent format I use

Upwork Clients can only see the 1st 2 lines from your proposals, so because my field is Tech, I have to be direct and also add my portfolio.

The portfolio is the key to getting jobs. It shows proof of work, after portfolio then reviews help.

But if I can mention how I get successful with gigs,

Bidding Tips

1. I try to be the first 5 proposals
2. I also check the "Last viewed by Client", if it's within 5mins, then it means high chances of the client instinctively responding to a notification.
3. If I see a job is perfectly within my field, then I can boost the bids because with a good profile and reviews, when you boost, they can view your work and pick.

Portfolio Tips
Have a portfolio for the gig you are applying for and it can be:
1. Screenshot
2. Video ( if your evidence requires explanation and more proof)
3. Audio

For me I use AwesomeScreen Recorder to share my evidences of Previous works

Freelance gig Upwork. when you apply on LinkedIn, go the company website to apply or reach out to the Talent Recruiter.

There are other job boards, but Upworks has served me well so far

Those low barrier roles are very critical. Today there enough tools for people to learn. You can download Virtualbox, setup a couple of virtual servers and run crazy learning how to ssh into them, how to remotely update them and all. Can host mysql on one, Apache/PHP on another VM and get both "talking". The opportunities are endless really. Even if one just decides to focus on DB Admin. Deploy Postgres or Maria and start learning SQL on both. It doesn't have to be programming programming all the time

Agreed I even picked up Instructional designing again, there's cash there and it's not tech also but only have to prove with a great portfolio.

Yeah on WordPress, you can get some gigs on Upworks and some freelance platforms, by the time you have like 2, you can be managing clients and be surviving till something big comes.

The only disadvantage is that people dislike PHP & the tech community is against it, they say it encourages bad practices & so on. So I'd advise NOT to learn it. You'd end up becoming jobless, except you want to be a full-time freelancer on Upwork.

AFAIK The language is an awesome language, very fast & easy to use. Most of the good jobs are remote jobs & if the Western tech communties say something is bad, even when you disagree, you have no option.

Most of the backend devs i know that used PHP Laravel have all moved to GO or C#. Java also is getting the hate but because It is mostly used by enterprise & those ones make a ton of revenue, so enterprise companies don't care about the hipster tech community crying about Java being too verbose.

Yeah PHP is mostly used in the freelance or platform space.

If it's physical who is going to be responsible for handling the location of mentoring people and if it's online, how is that any different from watching a Youtube video. Programming cannot be taught indepthly by someone, because it's a lot to learn, bootcamps are just eating your money and building business of dreams.

Self learning is still the ideal way of surviving in this freelance market with minimal cost. I've said it join a community it's easier to learn in peers than finding a mentor.

Your solution doesn't sound feasible to me, unless you just want to make contributions in the section too, then i understand.
