FreeStuffsNG: This is commendable. In my opinion, government should please provide some measure of support for the school too. The generation of herdsmen who attend school will have more options in life than nomadic farming.
There is the saying that whoever opens a school gate closes a prison door. Thank you and I say "Well done Captain Gumi (rtd)" . This man seems to be misunderstood and many people don't even know that he has both western(he is actually a medical doctor) and Arabic( Islamic scholar/teacher/Sheik) education and shares same birthday with Nigeria (he was born on October 1st, 1960,same day we became an independent nation).

JIREN01: Better migrate to North Korea where your use of the internet is regulated and you can get murdered for even saying this or Syria where you probably would have enlisted into the army and running about with grenades and RPGs. What about Azerbaijan and Armenia where mines would have blown you to pieces in broad daylight or Kazakhstan. I understand you and sincerely detest this country myself, but to be honest, as unbelievable as it sounds, you'll appreciate this place despite how shitty it is when you get to hear the experience of people in other places. Explorers: You're right, but if the towers have not collapsed after the impact, thousands of people in the building would have survived.
They collapsed about 2hours after the impact.
cc: mechanics That is what I'm saying... they did not collapse, they were brought down - with demolition technique, not the plane impact. The world trade centre buildings were built to withstand such impact, the core of those buildings were made with steel. The steel beams were cut with iron cutting material (nano thermite), hence the way the building collapsed when the explosives fixed to the cut joints were triggered - just like when you see big buildings being demolished. That is why experts looked through the evidence and concluded that it was an 'inside job'! You might want to go through the investigation materials and the findings - after looking at the construction documentary of how those buildings were made! Jet fuel burns at 1,500; steel melts at 2,750. On 9/11, molten iron poured out of the WTC towers. Nano Thermite, a highly incendiary substance, burns at (least) 4,382. You can see molten iron burning at specific points... and the aftermath

Explorers: World Trade Centre, Twin Towers, New York City, USA(100&110-story)
The most devastating building collapse in human history, the World Trade Center, September 11, 2001.
The Twin Towers were masterfully engineered using lightweight steel, a central core, and an egg-crate design creating a “redundant” structure. In other words, if one column or support were to fail, another would take its place.
Each building was made to handle 5,000 tons of lateral wind-load.
The impact and weight of the jets didn’t come close to overcoming the strength of these perimeter columns.
The real problem proved to the over 90,000 gallons of burning jet fuel that sent plumes of black smoke trailing into the sky over New York City.
The fire itself didn’t melt the steel columns holding up the building, it only weakened them.
Though it reduced to 50 percent of their previous strength due to the temperature of the inferno, but the columns were still capable of holding up the building.
The real issue came down to the uneven temperature of the fire, which distorted the steel on one side of skyscraper.
The stress proved too much, and eventually the floors buckled and began a domino collapse, pancaking down one on top of the other.
Each tower weighed over 500,000 tons. And it took just ten seconds for these immense buildings to collapse, hitting the ground at 124 mph.
Despite the fact that there were no specific engineering flaws involved in the design of the Twin Towers, engineers continue to study the buildings to learn more about redundant design and progressive collapse; and most importantly, with the aim of formulating life-saving safety and evacuation procedures in the future.
During the September 11 2001 attacks, 2,977 people were killed, 19 hijackers committed murder–suicide, and more than 6,000 others were injured.
Of the 2,996 total deaths (including the terrorists), 2,763 were in the World Trade Center and the surrounding area, 189 were at the Pentagon, and 44 were in Pennsylvania.
These deaths included 265 on the four planes.
The attacks remain the deadliest terrorist act in world history. I don't think this should be in the list as it was brought down deliberately!! |

Mftivi: do you know how many years they have kept that sculpture before oyibo stole it ? Sometimes you just have to think deep. This only shows that we would have been better off without their interference cos if we couldn't preserve our sculptures then they wouldn't have met anything to steal! Have you seen actual documented pictures of these pieces when they were taken and the pitiable state they were in? Some of them were covered in thick coats of dust and blood from human, animal and chicken sacrifices/offerings - and I'm not talking just about the ancient Bini kingdom. Only a few of the decorative/ornamental pieces were relatively clean and well kept. Judging from the way they were used back in the day, most of them only lasted because they were made from iron and bronze cast and even at that, some didn't still survive in the hands of the locals. Even the famous ivory face/mask pendant that was used as the FESTAC '77 icon was mostly in tatters and another fake copy had to be made. That original is in the Met Museum, New York and it has not deteriorated further since it has been there because it is well taken care of. Dude, I am an artist and work in the art sector, I am not just talking out of turn! |

Let's focus on dealing with the poverty and high cost of commodity ravaging the land first, tackle poor quality leadership before pursuing things like this.
If these weren't plundered by the whites, most of them would be dust by now.. The value it has today is the value given to it by the same white people. gbam!!! |
