Lesson number one..Never ever go for an interview with heels. They were not made for trekking.Biko, buy good flats and wear.If the job is your's ,its yours! No one cares if you are wearing a clarks shoe of 12k.Just dress well sha,in a way that the flats won't be really noticed.Secondly, going to apply in person doesn't pay most of the time.Your cv will just end up in the trashcan, that's if you are lucky enough to even get past the gateman.I can totally relate to your job search experience sha.God will see graduates through in Nigeria. |
For dinners, you can wear those hijab caps and pray you are allowed in.For call to bar,you may have to cut it.They are very strict with dress code.In my time girls who fixed nails even with acrylic were asked to remove it!So make proper enquiries,to avoid problems.Congrats on your admission. |

So far,i am yet to get a job.Nairalanders, please if you have links to a job that pays fairly well please help me out here. Its not restricted to law firms. As it stands I am ready to work anywhere, even teaching in a school.I am slowly becoming depressed. Please treat this as very important.Thanks. |
Lol.you wish!Any phone that's above 35k is a no go area for me. |
@op at least your's happened when you were 11.Mine happened from april-july 2014.I had a problem with my law school posting for court and chambers attachment.Instead of my house local govt area in ughelli south,I was posted to Effurun. My mum had to arrange for me to stay with a family friend who was living around refinery, very close to Effurun high court. Now this couple is well travelled, both are lawyers and have been friends with my family since I was a kid. They owned the duplex they lived in, with a maid and gateman. They are very well to do.The first 2 weeks were very ok.since they had a maid,I cudnt really sweep the house because she does that.So I made sure I washed dishes anytime I saw any in the sink.I normally leave the house by 8,return 4 or 5 depending on when my court closed.I wasn't even eating breakfast in the house o,just dinner. Everything started when she started complaining that I don't work in the house."I thought to myself, like..seriously?I had bar finals I was reading for.Was she expecting me to do eye service?"I wash dishes I meet in the kitchen without being told.Even when the househelp insists I leave it ,I still do it.She even went as far as gossiping me to her friends o.On many occasions, she would wake me by 3am on sunday. She would then pile the clothes of she,her husband and her four 4 kids for me to iron.At times after ironing for like an hour she would bring another set, that she prefers that one to the ones I have ironed. I was so depressed at a point I couldn't read.I had to caution myself to bear. The househelp at a point stopped greeting me,because she felt we were now mates.lol.Many nights in a week, the husband would buy suya or barbecue, she wouldn't even ask if I want to eat.I would come back from court and find the fridge locked. As if the drinks they noemally keep there was my problem.she would even go as far as counting the coke inside the crate kept in the kitchen store.it got to a stage she started telling the househelp to lock her store when ever I get home. All that was to safeguard her provisions.I called my mum to tell her,she cried eh!She asked me to come back home, that even though my house was like an hour plus to the court, she would ensure I leave the house on time.I packed my things then told her I was leaving. The husband was home that night,he was shocked I even considered going. The poor man no know say e wife na countess dracula. He begged me to forget about anything that happened and stay. That one even worsened things,I will greet her at times she won't answer. On saturdays, she would instruct the househelp to tell me to sweep both upstairs and downstairs of the duplex.I was always sad..The day I was leaving to go back to school for our bar finals,my friend came to pick me up with his car back to my house.Na so the lady call me o,that I should go and mop the guest room I lived in before leaving.A room I always kept clean, and moped the tiles every friday afternoon?I almost cried!I had to come down from the car, then gave the househelp 500 to do it.My friend was so pissed. He was asking how I managed to cope for 4 months.I just told him I knew it wasn't forever.Recently she called my mum saying I don't keep in touch,I just laughed!Thank God for the bad experience o,because it spurred me to read with zeal.At least I passed my exams with honours to her shame. That's why I have vowed never to squat with any friend or relative. If I even get a job in abuja where housing is expensive,I'd rather share a room with someone ,than stay rent free in a mansion and take sh.it.Many people just become demi-gods once you are eating their food an living under their roof.Forgetting that no condition is permanent!I would not advice my enemy to squat with anyone o.Because thats when you get to see the person's true nature. |
In the morning,I went downstairs for breakfast hoping my husband would be pleasant and say, 'Happy Birthday darling,' and possibly have a small present for me.As it turned out, he barely said good morning, let alone 'Happy Birthday'. I thought....well, that's marriage for you, but the kids.... they will remember. My kids came bouncing down stairs to breakfast and didn't say a word. So when I left for the office I felt pretty low and somewhat dejected. As I walked into my office, my handsome boss Rick said, 'Goodmorning, lady, and by the way Happy Birthday!' It felt a little better that at least someone had remembered.I worked until one o'clock, when Rick knocked on my door and said,'It's such a beautiful day outside, and it is your birthday, what do you say we go out to lunch, just you and me.' I said, 'Thanks, Rick, that's the greatest thing I've heard all day. Let's go!'We went to lunch. But we didn't go where we normally would go. He chose instead a quiet bistro with a private table. We had two martinis each and I enjoyed the meal tremendously. On the way back to the office, Rick said, 'It's such a beautiful day...we don't need to go straight back to the office, do we?' I responded, 'I guess not. What do you have in mind?' He said, 'Let's drop by my place, it's just around the corner.'After arriving at his house, Rick turned to me and said, 'If you don't mind, I'm going to step into the bedroom for just a moment.I'll be right back.' 'Ok.' I nervously replied. He went into the bedroom and, after a couple of minutes, he came out carrying a huge birthday cake, followed by my husband , my kids, and dozens of my friends and co-workers, all singing 'Happy Birthday.'And I just sat there....on the couch....stark naked. So that's why I'm divorced! Credits:facebook Nairalanders share your thoughts on the lady.I think she is really very loose for a married lady. The husband actually dodged a bullet! |

@op are you a full time housewife? If yes, please get a job or business to keep yourself busy.No one but you,can love you the way you expect to be loved.Keep yourself busy and you won't even have time to brood. |
@op go for a big thanksgiving next sunday. If that girl had died in your house, you for know the meaning of "awaiting trial".No one would believe you didn't hurt her when it happens.Nigerian Police kukuma lazy before, with the corpse found in your house; coupled with the fact you were all alone with her?Even you would be convinced you killed her after dem don torture you for cell finish. My advice to you is to let her be!Even if she wants to visit, tell her you have relocated or something. |
Mrkels, you can send a pm.@emekaxy,I am not a professional Make up artist. Thanks for thinking of me anyways.@goldenruby..you harsh o.lol |
urchbarbie:My dear, its even sad that some have the nerve to suggest that it was a moral test.Only ladies know what we face on a daily basis in the professional world. |
SAMBARRY:Please stop replying @majekdom.He is just a sick, sorry excuse for a man,let alone a human being!I can hardly even fathom what his point really is?sambarry Leave the fo.ol alone abeg. That's how you deal with degenerates! |
SAMBARRY:My dear, you have said it all.Thank God we still have people like you here who reason so maturely. Thanks a lot. |
SAMBARRY:thanks sambarry...I really don't have the energy to reply most of the stu.pid comments here. |
Rexology:I doubt that was the case.I am a grown lady who can tell when a man is seriously asking me out.If it was a test, then its very distasteful! |
F50:lol..good for you.No lawyer would tell you your case has no potential! How do you expect him to make money?Wish you luck though. |
@F50,it doesn't work that way in Nigeria. Our laws barely provide for remedies against sexual harrassment.Besides, when you have been involved in a court case in Nigeria, you would understand why litigation is not the best way to go about things due to frequent adjournments, judiciary strikes and the rest.Again, you are entitled to damages when you have suffered as a result of the act.The only claim I have here is purely emotional.Trust me,Nigerian courts don't have time for that crap. That's better served in other legal systems abroad.Even the Ese walter and COZA pastor scandal, had she sued I am sure she would have lost despite her claim of being manipulated by a religious leader. |
ajuwarhodes:I choose not to bandy words with you.Run along kid.. |
kaziblake:na wa o.Its just so sickening.God will give you a better job. |
