you can get a water gun! their fun!

I see why some may object to it, I personally dont think theres anything wrong even game consoles have all sorts of nonsense for games that will send any mother screaming in horror.

I won't go out of my way to buy it, but if someone else buys one for her i'll allow it.

queensmith, it's self hatred. period.
then so is wearing make up, tattooing, tanning, hair weaves of European nature, wearing every clothing but that derived from your own country eating foreign food, any form of taking plastic surgery, self improvement, going to the gym, even wearing clothes gan sef. We should all parade naked in our God given flesh?
abi?
ThiefOfHearts:
If anything proves it, its the different ways darker Indians are treated compared to lighter ones.
People see how women who are lighter are treated and they try to get the same. It's depressing as hell.
Its about poverty, #thatisall. The poorer class of people were darker, unfortunately india has a class system that is far from civilised, but that doesn't mean people are bleaching to look white.
People dont wear weave because they hate their afro hair? Do they? I must have missed the memo.
Long story short, they don't hate themselves. They do what they feel is in vogue, to fit in, to follow a trend.

ThiefOfHearts:
It has nothing to do with being fashionable IMO. what is fashionable about not wanting to be the color God made you(general you, not you personally)? what's fashionable about not wanting to be dark skinned? Is that something to be proud of? Is that something that SHOULD be fashionable?

I figured just how much colorstruck Nigerians are when I saw the pathetic comments in the Yoruba beauties thread, all the women being praised were other mixed Yorubas or ones that are way lighter than the normal Yoruba woman. You think that's a coincidence? I dont.
We've talked about God haven't we? I'll say it again, If you feel like we should in no way tamper with our God made bodies then you should be a nudist. Humanity is all about evolving. 50years to come we may not even look human any more.

I can't deny, light skinned women are praised more in my culture, but mainly because they look different. Again, its a poverty factor. You are not likely to be very light if you've been slaving in a farm all day. Thats why the women bleach thier bodies and what not.
@ Queensmith,

I think the best way to get a balance argument is to visit it from both side of the coin, if we refuse to limit our self to only blacks in the topic in question we may be able to get a more open and unbiased rationale.

I have some Pakistanis, India and Spanish friend that does bleach for reasons known to them but they are of the view that skin bleaching isn't ideal.

The body of the topic is not to lay war or criticism on dark complexioned people because i have seen people of the opposite race working on their skin to become whiter.
they bleach to look rich, its as simple as. Nobody hates darker complexioned people and one will be wise not to pay attention to deluded american women. Always seeking a reason for why most of their sons are in prison! lol

Health › Re: Why Do People Bleach Their Skin. by queensmith: 9:00am On Feb 10, 2012
Nigerians and their bloody assumptions. It really does get annoying.

I dont need to bleach im naturally light but thats besides the point.

Bleaching is as fashionable as anything else and there is no reason to get hypertention over it.

If women can wear weave and men can get tattoos then why can people bleach?

The misconception that bleaching is anything to do with looking caucasion is the main bone of contention here.

People in their racist thought trails have carried something that has been done for thousands of years into a racial sense. Nobody is trying to look white people are simply trying to look rich. Tis well knows those that stay indoors in hot countries tend to be light while those that work on the fields will be dark. The poverty factor.

In the celtish times it was the same. So people used powder and creams to appear whiter. Its even still being done in countries like china.
Not everything is related to slavery. There are alot of issues we have in the black community, turning ourselves against one another for something soo trivial isnt helpful.

In educated societies, which is unfamiliar to obese hoodrats, people would at least some of the other "number of risk factors" to back up their point. Not just challenge a point as wrong without giving alternatives points or highlight omitted points.

Bad fats surely don't add to brain power, does it?
ahhh fagamite, you really are afool. there is no saving you. Just find a cat and a cave and retire for the sake of humanity. One is worried your existence may pollute the world. Only slightly, but worrying nevertheless.

You have 'only' a 17% chance on average of getting lung cancer through smoking, but that percentage is sufficient for entire countries to do all they can to FORCE people to stop smoking just to avoid cancer.
Not true- there are a number of risk factors to smoking, lung cancer is far from the reason Governments make such investments, in fact if lung cancer we're the only risk to smoking the gov.t probably wont bother at all

How else is a family going to be legitimate unless via marriage? Whether or not marriage will lead to the best outcome is besides the point.
In accordance with the laws of the land, marriage is what is recognised.
Things may have changed to ensure bastardchildren no longer have the disadvantages they used to experience ,but this doesnt change the influences marriage in itself has.

TV makes sense. Someone not wanting to be married can have many reasons. He or she may be a product of a broken home, maybe he or she was abused, he or she may be questioning their sexuality. But it definitely doesnt rule marriage out entirely.

Generally i dont believe people should have children out of marriage, its unfair on the child. No child deserves to be raped of a proper home. One can name a number of celebrity examples, all the money in the world means nothing. Children need 2 parent households. Having a father or a mother drop by every now and again is no way to raise a child.
I been hearing a lot about armed robbers in my area. With my connections with guys in was in "the frat" with back then in skool I was able to acquire this "Desert Eagle". You know that sick gun that'll chase any niqqa down the entire block? Ok. I visited naija after a few years abroad, on my 2nd day at my parents house at around 3:40am while everyone was sleeping, I was sleepless as a result of the new climate and time change when I heard this 2 mumbling voice coming from the balcony outside my window. I quickly and slowly got up from bed, grabbed my precious newly found "love" and dodge behind my door and said my last prayer and prepared my mind for the worst, the moment i saw one of the thieves touched my window to slide it open. . . . . . I cocked my desert eagle, gave it a firm good grip, made a perfect target to his brain and screamed "You fuuckkd with the wrong niqqa!!" and then . . . . . .BoooOOOOMMM!!!!! BoooOOOOMMM!!!!! I "double tapped" his brain on the balcony while the other sucker jumped down the balcony and escaped. The following morning I called one of my cop friend on the island who hooked me up with his dpo, i explained everything and with 200k it was buried, Naija police style. The following week after I had left naija, my sister told me it was reported in the media that the armed robber was killed in a shoot out with the police. Lol
what a story!

I think the OP should do this cheesy. By siring kids with different partners, it reduces his marriageable value, since that's what he wants cheesy. But then again if he intends to marry in future, only desperados would agree to marry him. So he better not marry.
Lol i doubt he even needs to go to such lengths. He's already unmarriable and delusional.

The irony is other than celebs, NONE of you know anyone who ended up poor after a divorce. Infact I doubt you know many divorced Nigerian couples period (in Naija AND aboard) so spare us the boo-hooing.
If oyibos can do it despite being divorced many times, I dont know why Nigerians would even entertain such thoughts. Stop fooling yourselves abeg. Yall aint kobe, MJ,. Speilberg or McCartney. Yall will attract regular women who luckily for you have been brainwashed into thinking divorce is never option.

so make we hear word
Finally! A woman that sees through thier kwasia nonsense!

In addition to this,  i dont no any divorced nigerian man. What i do know is several women who are offiicially still married but their husbands have left them. With this is mind, one should forever be afraid of marrying a nigerian man home and abroad.
Yet the women do not bounce up and down claiming all nigerian men are dangerous because they are more likely to abandon their wives.

Sagamite, you can make your point without being insultive.  If someone has been in in a marriage for 11 years and is enjoying it, humility teaches you ask and learn how it is done instead of trying to be sarcastic.
Thats the problem- he cant, most havent realised he has the logical capacity of a 2year old child.

i don't think you quite get the drift of the poster's question.

he is not against marriage - he's scared of the woman he might end up with.
everyone loves to be married if they can get a reasonable other half. . . . .the fear lurks because there's no guarantee one can get that special partner.
all the things you have written are well known to us - but will it work if one has a trifling whore as a housewife.
in principle, marriage works on paper but is it really practical? that is what you should be telling us about. . . .
ermm no he wasnt-

OP
I am not asking this question in jest; I am dead serious. What exactly is the point of marriage? I am successful, independent, I  have had a string of steady girlfriends and if I want, I can have a string of baby mamas. What exactly is the advantage of marriage for a guy? I just don't get it. Please don't tell me "love" because I have been in love twice in my young life (I am in my late-twenties) and nothing came out of it but unnecessary pain (I am not interested in love, ever again). So why should a guy get married besides family pressure

i guess because bleaching causes a dramatic change as for makeup you can remove it, weaves you can remove tanning will eventually go away (skin cancer) but bleaching is like so obvious and out there
you cant remove permanant make up, or tattoos or piercings and tanning also causes cancer. tattoos are also obvious and out there are they not?

shymmex:
to self-hate and having low self-esteem
I don't know why people will want a skin without melanin over a skin with melanin
Black skin is adaptable to any weather, and the same can't be said about others
I think it comes down
Bleaching of the skin is the same with black people, who would strive to be anything but AFRICAN
Bleaching of the skin is the same as worshipping foreign Gods, which has nothing in common with the traditional African spirituality - Allah of Mecca, and Jesus of Israel

Like Wole Soyinka said: "A mistake in London is fashion in Nigeria," go figure,
THIS is the problem I have with black people and the things we openly do.
They are SOOOOOOO obsessed with slavery they forget many things.
Those that complain about people bleaching their skin are actually the ones with low self esteem and full of self hatred that other people’s action seems to cause soo much of a stir in their emotion.
Why do you feel the need to defend melanin soo much? What exactly will it do for you? Can you not see the aggression is misplaced?
Bleaching has been happening all over the world for CENTURIES!!! White people also used to whiten their skin before travelling abroad became popular!
Bleaching is just another form of beautification; those that indulge deem it fit. Its nothing to do with looking white, or looking like whoever. It’s just another trend.
Getting soo tired of the weave discussion, the bleaching discussion, the rest and the likes are we the only race in the world?
