Romance › Re: Things People Do In The Name Of Love! by queensmith: 1:11pm On Jun 21, 2012
IyaBasira: I'm sorry, but for stuff like that, I really don't care what what the reasons are. How can I watch you do that to someone else? And with her probably thinking that I am the housemaid, only to later find out that I'm his wife! These women sometimes come to Nairaland and wail about some Nigerian man who they love and who is acting funny once the papers came through.

I've noticed something about men and women. Men seem to understand the saying " United We Stand " better than women do. With guys there's this sense of solidarity cos they always support each other. But women just don't seem to get it. We do a lot of terrible things to each other in the name of LOVE and it's like someone sowed a seed of discord between us from day one.
It's not a men and women thing this is sort of exclusive to black culture. It's not acceptable in (relatively) civil environments. Treating people badly isn't entertained or encouraged. But in Nigeria pulling scams, using people, lies, deceit infidelity pedophiles the likes are all embraced and encouraged. Misogynism included. It's seriously tiring,
Fashion › Re: What Are Your Favorite Hair Styles? by queensmith: 1:03pm On Jun 21, 2012
Braids for me- its neat, professional, 100& black and even though it takes hours I'm slightly assured I'm not wasting my life on my hair. Time I should be wasting on making money grin grin
Romance › Re: Things People Do In The Name Of Love! by queensmith: 1:01pm On Jun 21, 2012
Lol- reminds me of that movie with funke akindele. I don't think its normal to go to such extent, its just that drama tends to draw our attention.
There are normal couples living normal and happy lives not having to sell themselves short, cook clean or deal with nonsense in the name of love. You just have to set what you want in your life and go for someone that can offer it.
Romance › Re: Is It Wrong For Girl To Ask A Guy Out? by queensmith: 11:23am On Jun 21, 2012
No I don't think its wrong. At all. How else is the dude supposed to know you are interested in him?
Family › Re: Is It Wrong For Me To Be Bitter? by queensmith: 11:17am On Jun 21, 2012
Lol- don't be bitter, I am very sure you've done more than piss her off in the past. Lol 2 weeks notice she's a badt girl.

I couldn't stand my siblings for 5 seconds of any given day when I was its them, now I'll do anything to have them around.
Romance › Re: Should my friend lose her self esteem just because he stopped showing interest? by queensmith: 9:03am On Jun 21, 2012
But what kind of friend........I mean the guy is audacious. She didn't work well as a link so its now appropriate to be asking of her friends? Isn't that indication enough to the girl that the dude is most likely a waste of space without an ounce of decency.

Anyways she shouldn't be too hard on herself, I don't see why her self esteem should plummet just because a dude wasn't into her? They met on the internet for Chris sakes its even more likely to not click since you haven't met in person, you have bypassed the natural 'checkpoint' we all have and sped over to the good stuff.

That's why it's probably a good idea not to invest too many emotions in a man you haven't met. I mean what if he turned out to be but ugly, or he had a body odour? Or gigantic hands or whatever women oppose nowadays. Abeg, there are plenty more men, make more male friends so you can at least know the human beings out of them. And you will have a good enough network not to have to resort to blind dating with potential assholes.
Nairaland General › Re: How Many Facebook "Friends" Have You Got & How Many Do You Know In Person? by queensmith: 8:24am On Jun 21, 2012
Lol that's a good question, I have a lot of Facebook friends because I stayed in Nigeria. So there are soo many people I don't know personally on it. But went to my secondary school, or is part of the same organisation, is a family friend and soo on and so forth.
I don't think it means I lack anything, if anything most of my friends have the same number and personally know every single one. It depends on how much of a people person you are.
Facebook is the best way to keep in contact nowadays, i love it too much!
Romance › Re: Men/is It Love Or Acts? by queensmith: 1:25am On Jun 21, 2012
kandiikane: Abeg, forget that rubbish for say "if you act classy, elegant, intelligent, blah di blah" they will treat you right. No, they won't. If a man is going to treat you like trash they will, whether you act like a lowdown ashawo or barack obama's wife.
If a man is brought up right with good manners and respect for women then he will treat you right but if he was brought up seeing the mother being a punching bag then he will treat you like absolute trash. Just makes sure you get to know person first before you open legs and fall in love. You can never change a man who treats women like shite. *whispers* nigerian men-abeg you didn't hear me. tongue
Me, I have talked finished.
cool
Danka7777: Don't listen to all these men pretending to be lovee lovee. See them, Nigerian men- know how to treat women right. Nigerian men are ranked at the bottom of the list on treating women right. And on the token, our women are ranked among the last on how to respond and talk to people respectfully.
cool

Now this is fresh air. . .
A man that has never been treated right, never been taught to treat people right, and has never treated anyone right will never treat you right no matter what you do.
If you're unfortunate stupid enough to find even go near such a man, you'll spend the whole of your life trying to please him hoping someday he will change, but they never do.

He should not treat you right only after you wash, cook and die for him (any woman doing any of the above in hopes a man will love her is fooling herself. . . . .on a level that is beyond anything on this earth) . . .He ought to treat you right from the start.
See how he relates to other people, see how he treats his mother/sisters, if possible see what kind of home he's from.
You can't give what you don't have.
Lemme finish it off with this sexiness here;
“You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.”—Malcolm S. Forbes.

y me: Be a good communicator even when you are angry.
Help around the (his) house in your spare time
Encourage him and try to inspire him in any little way
Try to share his interest (even if its 20%) in hobbies that you are not that cool with
Don't go out of your comfort zone just to win an argument with him to prove a point
I just vomited all over the gaff. . . .thank you yme! eurgh!

he will only treat you right if he was raised right, the way he treats people is a reflection of how he will treat you. You cannot make a man out of a dog.

sauer: I thought that lady had it all twisted when I read that thread. It certainly could be called BS.
If a lady attempted all that with me, I'd be disinterested in no time. Why would anyone want to be worshipped? That beats my imagination!

debosky: ^^ Go easy on the haterade ma'am. grin

That you know 'many' Yoruba people behaving a certain way is no license to generalize. It's odd that you seem to come across many of these people so frequently. . . .something about the company you keep and all that. Maybe. . .
No- many yoruba people behave a certain way so I must insist they are the opposite.

Maybe you should drink some reality juice. . . . . sir. . . .
