buzzedoffbeauty: The test traces midoncondrial dna which stays the same from mother to daugther and from father to son this is how it's done. Due to the fact that the white man drew the lines in Africa they tell us what the land is present day. They actuall go to villages and swab thousands of natives ( natives meaning the people have been there for thousands of years). For example your village has a history which traces backs furthur than you may be able to imagine and it has stand that way even before Chirst. They don't go to big cities like lagos where there is a variety of mixtures. I know at one point nigeria wasn't one...it was several different tribes who where force under one name. This is why they can not tell us what village we belong to. Actually most results I've come across are cameroon and guine bissau ( sorry it's mispelled). Although I was told that I received two tribes, I believe it was one tribe who may have separated but I am not a scientist to make such speculations. I look at yoruba people here in Dallas and I have that short thick body make up as well. It's not a scam, many unrelated scientist perform the same test. No one wants their reputation to be destroyed in such a scam. This company started more than twenty years ago and it was due to many blacks taking an "admixture test" and only seeing that they were of AfricanDescent but not being able to know from what part. Thank you for contributing to this post... smiley
Thank you, this certainly does shed a little more light on things since mrna is highly conserved, however I'm not sure about the 1000s of natives (or if such actions are even legal or ethical in these modern times) and it doesn't explain what will happen in the case of someone that comes from 150 different countries due to interbreeding.
I'm highly skeptical about the whole thing.

shymmex: What are you on about? That was what her DNA showed!!
please take the time to read and assimilate what i wrote very carefully, the post was meant to point out the fact that it's not possible for DNA to show such, however if you have information that can shed more light on things I will be more than happy to entertain you??

Romance › Re: Question: Why Do Guys Choose Sports Over Their Partners? by queensmith: 11:42pm On Jun 21, 2012
Question, Is this a guy's thing in a relationship to ignore and focus on sports when they are in a relationship? huh huh

I have noticed during the Basketball Playoff....the men totally ignored their wives and girlfriends until the end of the game. What's up with that?

How come when we ignore you guys....we are having our periods...but when you guys ignore us especially during sports' season....it is a guy's thing and we just need to embrace it?

Why are you guys choosing sports over us?
This is mere coonery. #igiveup
Most of these tests are scams. I read about the process a while ago, and most of them usually end up Yoruba. Makes me wonder. . . . how factual are the test? undecided
lol- it makes sense. Even with plain thinking, ever since I heard Oprah discovered she was from a royal family in Nigeria I was suspicious. No1, did they test all the remaining families in Nigeria and just happen to stumble across the one that just happens to be related to Oprah Winfrey? Smelly Fish,

no2, there is no 'black gene' talkless of 'african gene' talkless of 'nigerian gene' or 'yoruba gene' so I've been wondering how on earth they come up with their conclusions, what areas are they mapping? are they just doing random comparisons? will that not make everybody related to everybody?

That to one side, lets even imagine they have a database of every single family and tribe in africa + there is confirmed existence of a 'black' or 'nigerian' or even 'yoruba gene'. African Americans have been there African Americans have existed for over 400 years now. It's safe to assume cultural ties have probably been broken for a 3rd of it and there has been interbreeding with both the whites and between people from different parts of subsaharan africa. How can a descendant of this now come out 100% yoruba? It's bloody senseless!!

Health › Re: Nigerians, Top Users Of Bleaching Creams — WHO by queensmith: 8:39pm On Jun 21, 2012
I find this soo hard to believe, I thought Americans were the bleach crazy type? Besides why don't they just close down the labs making them rather than make excessive noise? Does Nigeria have an abnormal high prevalence of skin disorders related to bleach use?

Science/Technology › Re: The First Law Of Thermodynamics. by queensmith: 7:44pm On Jun 21, 2012
flash11: seriously did you ever think you were smarter than the scientists that put that law together and those still working with it??
The scientists you talk about weren't soo smart in their own days. It took thinking in the same mindset as the op to make the discoveries we all study now. You learn these things when you do philosophy, we should broaden our minds to foster creativity. Left to conformist thinking we will probably all still believe the earth is flat.

Now to this lot- boiii my knowledge on this is rusty, but i think this used to confuse me too. the entropy nonsense. Let me google this ish.

I see what you mean, the literal definition of the first law doesn't take efficiency into account. Then again it depends on how you read it, it can still apply. The first law says that the energy of a closed system is increased by work done on it by an external system, the energy dissipated won't necessarily have effect on that of the closed system will it?

In simple terms (cos thats how i like it) the first law is telling you energy is conserved, the second law is telling you some of it is usable the rest of it isnt.
The second law introduced entropy, which is (as i remember it) a form of unusable energy, it doesn't affect the total energy- it just outlines efficiency between systems when doing work.

Where are the chemical resources for this, now I'm bloody curious.

Kerosene is a mixture of chemicals so it won't have an exact freezing point,

debosky: No one is asking you to insist the opposite - maybe the haterade is clouding your vision ma'am. grin

All I ask is that you don't generalize - don't think everyone behaving in a certain way should be Yoruba.

You can't claim '99%' of so and so behave in a certain way based on anecdotal evidence.
Right, for political sensitivity all those behaving a certain way are not yoruba, but 99% of yoruba's behave a certain way based on observation. #thatisall

Romance › Re: Is It Wrong For Girl To Ask A Guy Out? by queensmith: 4:45pm On Jun 21, 2012
You guys say this ,but it's equally unpleasant to women when men approach them Willy nilly, i can't think of anything more irritating than a complete stranger approaching you for romantic interest. I automatically assume men like that have aids. If you can be professing love to a stranger its obvious you have no limits.
Romance › Re: Should my friend lose her self esteem just because he stopped showing interest? by queensmith: 4:15pm On Jun 21, 2012
Shollypopz: why for d love of God, would u allow a guy define who you are/worth?? There is a reason it's called "self"-esteem u know?? Why won't these ladies find their identity in God? You are beautiful! He has created you in his own image and no one on earth can replace you and your 'uniqueness'. It's time 4 ladies to start realizing who they are in Christ. They keep on looking for cheap tokens from guys to make them feel good about themselves. If he doesn't want you, his own lost. Gosh! Your friend needs to start talking to that "thing" in her head saying she's not worthy or up to par because the way she sees herself is how people would accept/treat her. *sigh*
i wonder why people are blaming the guy?? Na by force?!!
#thatisall

I have never understood for the life of me how the approval from a complete stranger will all of a sudden validate you? I mean sometimes the stranger is a vile creature, I won't seek approval from a tramp?
Some will even sell themselves or their friends off for this validation..........its a never ending cycle..
I have friends who were raised by gay folks, and they are very much normal; in fact, I was completely unaware of this until I was invited to their homes. I hope you are not one of those who think that homosexualism is a disease and that it can be contracted. Neither is true. I know so many gay people and it hasn't changed me one bit. I used to be homophobic, ignorant, and judgemental of their orientation, but now, I know better. As for whether what they are is moral or not, I shall leave the judgement to higher powers.
This made me smile smiley bless you
