Nairaland GeneralRe: What's The Greatest Lesson You Learnt In Life? by QuintessentialW: 10:03pm On Dec 02, 2020
LagosInter:
1. Life is difficult. It's a great truth.

2. Money answers all things.

3. See no 2.

4.No difference between women and cars. Women are articles, yes including my sisters.

5. Your value as a man is tied to provision. Fail in this and lose your value.

6. Making it isn't by hardwork alone. We owe a lot to luck, serendipity, destiny.

7. Nobody knows what happens after death. Who knows, life after death may be worse.

8.Family is everything, they are all you have got.

9. Study well as a teen, you may never get the chance again to learn the basics.

10. Life has no purpose whatsoever, it could have been better if we never existed. I align myself with prof Benathar's views in this regard.
I agree with everything except 10 and 4.

EducationRe: My "Couple's Life" Experience In Higher Institution by QuintessentialW: 8:25pm On Nov 25, 2020
Zyxsc:
This is my confession

I first saw her profile pics on Nairaland. Let's call her Rachel. Later, I got to know she stays in the same hostel as I. She was into me more than I am into her. She attempted to come closer but I wouldn't have that. I resisted because my kind of introvert prefers being alone. I can't tolerate people's presence for long. Even my girlfriends, ex and then-present, I can only tolerate for a maximum of three days. Afterwards I would become hostile towards them till they eventually leave. But Rachel, she would leave and come back the following day, no matter how hostile I was the previous day. Gradually, she taught me how to tolerate people's presence more. I started getting comfortable with her. Then comes the second issue.

I have a very short temper. I flare up on any slight provocation. Rachel, she would remain calm while I'm angry. Once she notice I'm calm, she would come to me and ask me to reminisce the reason for my anger if it's bigger than an issue we could have resolved by discussing. She uses many other vices to correct me in a very respectful way. In the event I get angry while being corrected, she wouldn't raise her voice. She just wants to teach me, most things that trigger my anger can easily be resolved through communication. Gradually, I learn to be slow to anger and speak my temper. There, she taught me to be a better communicator and have a better grip over my temperament.

While all these went on, the sex wasn't amiss, even though it's usually my 2 seconds jiggy-jiggy. She noticed I was bogged by my inability to last long. Then she told me a secret that spurred me into action. I made my research. I found how to last long and give better pre-intimacy and got really good at the game.

From the start of my narration till the last paragraph, it was 5 years of cohabitation already, but it was a blessing. I would still be the primitive version of myself if I hadn't engaged in that.

So in case you're thinking it's bad to cohabit in school, of course it is, but that's your opinion. It's okay to have one, but don't shove it down our throat.[b]

[b]Does it affect my grades?

sure, it does. I came out with a second class upper. Strong or not strong, second class upper na second class upper. I might not have had a first class even if I didn't live a couple's life. And come to think of it, I am doing better than the first class graduate of my set.

Will I be glad if my daughter does it?
Of course, no. I wouldn't. But shit happens and life goes on yet. To the best of my knowledge, my Dad didn't even attend any tertiary institution, talk more of doing it. So my doing it or not doing it wouldn't affect my daughter's decision to either do it or not. Just live your life and enjoy it the best way you can

I and Rachel are not dating presently, but I value her more than any lady I've ever come across because she's had great impact in my life. The changes I experienced while cohabitating with her formed the foundation of any positive change I am presently undergoing.
There's just something about this story! I love it, really. Rachel sounds like an exceptional young lady.

Pray tell, what happened to you two? Over familiarity? Love went cold?

It is not about your kind of person, it is stereotyping. I am sure you are guilty of a few- I have spotted one sef. That is the same way he formed his own notion. You kept saying you haven’t eaten and it triggered his alarm...
If he's alarmed at the fact that someone hasn't eaten... someone he's nurturing a friendship with... and his only reaction was to bolt, he's not a cool person. Not as a friend... certainly not as a spouse.

A thoughtful person would have been genuinely concerned... not taking himself out of the equation.

Too many mind games with people these days.

Maturity is setting in, this is why u should not criticize a sinner all u should do is pray for him or her.

A lot of sinners eventually get tired of sinning and abandon their old lifestyle.

There was a time in my life that I drink McDowell's, in the morning, beer in the afternoon then black bullet and SK in the night. Only my presence in an area na balling.

But as Time went on I just tire for the lifestyle. I was in my 20's and girls were looking at me like a sugar daddy

I moved to a new area I would be seeing people acting tough drinking and smoking be looking at me decline as a ju man, if only they knew they were talking to a retired baller.

PoliticsHow To Become A PDP Cardholder by QuintessentialW(op):
For very specific reasons, I want to become a member of the People's Democratic Party. I'm very much interested in joining politics actively, and I want to start from the very grassroot. PDP is the best platform for me to achieve my political aspirations for a number of reasons.

I've gone through the website and I saw the generic procedures in becoming a member. But it's not clear enough.

Please, informed folks in the house. Kindly help me in proffering answers to these questions:

1. How do I locate any of the Ward Chapters in Lagos State? I'd love a full list of the Ward chapters so I can register at the one closest to my work place, or home, as the situation demands.

2. I'm also aware that there's a registration fee. What's the cost of the registration?

3. What's the cost of the monthly membership subscription?

4. On what grounds are applicants' membership denied? Is there a good chance that my application will be successful?

We're trying to rebuild Nigeria. Dont wait for 2023, because a miracle won't happen in 2023. If things will ever change for the better, now's the time to start. If you've got visions for the country, a good place to start is to become a party card holder.

I solicit enlightenment on the above questions. Thank you very much!

Cc : Sean, lalasticlala , mynd44. Front page, please. For more traction.

*Modified.*

Kindly refrain from questioning my decision to join PDP. I only need answers on how to get registered. Thanks.
Christianity EtcRe: Not Attending Church Every Sunday. Is It Such A Big Sin? by QuintessentialW: 9:40am On Nov 15, 2020
EVILFOREST:
Next FEBRUARY will make it my 13years Anniversary of staying away from Church and its related activities.
Join me as I mark such an adorable feat.

I prefer teaching my KIDS, standard Morals than enrolling them into "speaking in tongues" classes which they completely know nothing about.
CHURCH isn't the only place wia morals can be taught.
In Fact the teaching of MORALS usually stems from the home and the way we do things.
AFRICAN TRADITIONAL HOMES were birthed on morals even before the WHITES came.
KIDS respected their parents and assisted.
WIVES honoured their husbands.
Husbands were really heads and not now.
Morality doesn't equate to salvation!

Morality won't take you to heaven... won't save your soul.

And then... how moral do you think you can be by your own doing? Humans by nature are fallible! Without the grace of God, you can't be completely moral!

Same here. There was a time I always wanted to visit Nairaland... now I go days and weeks without visiting.

After reading through the first page, I go into specific sections and I'll have to force myself to log off when I have other compulsory things to attend to.

But these days, I barely find anything worth reading on the "almighty" front page, let alone finding the motivation to go into the other sections.
RomanceNairaland Is Steadily Losing Its Glory. by QuintessentialW(op): 10:23pm On Nov 14, 2020
Nairaland's been proliferated with way too many trolls. If you look carefully, most of the great threads and insightful posts were from yester years.

There was a time when Nairaland was home! When Nairaland was a culture! A wholesome community! But now, attempts at creating great threads are usually met with derailing.

There's way too many trolls on Nairaland today. Too many immature folks. Too much tribal and religious hate. Too much pettiness.

A thread is created and rather than allow meaningful contributions, people who have absolutely nothing sensible to say flood the first page. It kills the motivation for others to comment or even read through subsequent pages.

It's either all of the above or males who seem to have dedicated their existence to bashing women.

Nairaland used to be a better place. I feel sad to see Nairaland quickly being rendered a wasteland.
