Amarabae:You must be referring to Ojukwu. He foolishly started a war he had no means to win and still stubbornly refused to compromise when he had clearly lost the war, he kept sacrificing the cream of his people for vain glory. Imagine distributing 10,000 cutlasses to young men to go and face machine guns, is that not sheer madness. Instead of evacuating civilians from Enugu and Awka when he knows the Nigerian Army would soon start shelling the towns, he said they should defend it to the last man with any weapon they lay their hands on....what manner of retarded thinking is that. It's a great pity and a shame what happened in that terrible 1960s in Nigeria. We had no founding fathers, from the North to the South, We had men who selfishly allowed their ego and prejudice to destroy the foundation of something that could have turned out well. |
gidgiddy:He could have done a hitler, its the same thing ship captains do, remember the titanic captain. |
BrutalJab:So if i have spare money to buy land, i should then buy from scammers because nah spare money. I cant just believe this, i think some people were born fools. What is worse than a fool is a greedy fool. |
coluka:That may be the case, but it could also mean he was trying to justify his being part of the coup as a yoruba man. But whatever the case may be, the executors were 90% Ibos. |
Which struggle Ojukwu start since 1957. Nah new new strange things person dey hear, abi nah 1967 he want talk. Even that 1967 plan was not well-planned, it was full of errors and prone to failure from scratch. |
str8talk1:Stop Shouting Genocide up and down, which genocide? That word is being incorrectly used in the Biafran context. |
donshaddow:add orima |
Amarabae:Well, it is said that you learnt how to eat all those leaves during a time you were hungry and had nothing to eat....so pls dont call people hungry because they have not mastered how to eat all forest leaves or because they have not carried their hunger-induced delicacies to all the nooks and crannies of the world |
Amarabae:The same can be said about all these ones you listed Oha,Nsala,Onugbu,Ukazi,Achara,Okro, Ugu, Ogbono ilo except okro. Okro is not exclusive to Ibos, it is a national food. Ogbono is a local delicacy everywhere in the south except in the west. Only a westerner or northerner that stayed in the east or has an eastern wife knows these Ibo soup. Growing up in Lagos in the 80s you only get egusi and draw in ibo food canteen,. the others are unknown and still very much unknown. Bitter leaf soup is even more popular than them and in popularity they are at par with groundnut soup. |
So sad for the loss of life.....but it is an unverified report and i would have expected more mourners in death of such circumstances and as a relative of such a personality. |
AnanseK:It is the same mistakes happening all over again. Ojukwu himself made the same mistakes, even if your cause is just if you cannot fight and get it, dont bother, bid your time or you would simply be slaughtered. Our Elders say until you can wield the sword, you dont go asking for who killed your father. Ojukwu consulted civilians and declared biafra claiming no black nation can defeat him on land, sea and air but his generals did not know what he was talking about. The Biafran Army Officers were not consulted before the declaration and neither were the necessary logistics and administrative tasks required to successfully prosecute the war done. He just went in headlong and withing weeks, he has been sent packing from his headquarters. |
Oildichotomy:You sabi chop pulse beans? How many people sabi the beans gan sef. If China decides to buy the sawdust wasting away now in our sawmill, that is when we would remember it can be used to make car. Has Thailand and other Asian countries not been exporting rice to us for decades. India says they can die for pulse beans and currently i dont know what these pulse beans state produces, they are broke to pieces, so if they can turn their wasting lands into pulsebeans land and earn good money, that would be fantastic. Agricultural commodities sale is still a huge market that even developed countries play in, beef, fish corn etc are still widely traded. |
goaldynman:Since when did IPOB start listening or obeying the courts of the ''zoo'' . It is a series of unfortunate but preventable events that led to the first world war and the left-over problem created the WW2, same series of foolish decisions and clash of egos led to the Biafran war, the sour taste it left is also pulling us towards another disaster. Sane Heads are needed now more than ever. |
Proudlyngwa:Not trying to be unfair, because they have had a great history for thousands of years, they gave the world sex education, algebra and a host of fine stuffs. But like you said it was just within the indian subcontinent, they never bothered to venture far beyond the khyber pass, the mountains of afghanistan nor did they slug it out with the chinese. They did well trading among themselves in the subcontinent. They remain divided in different small kingdoms that even black indentured/slaves from eastern africans the siddis were able to carve out kingdoms for themselves. Despite that things still got to them, they were not too far behind in the happenings around the world but that cannot be said of sub-saharan Africa and i blame the desert for it . Once people that matters see that great sea of sand, it was like that was the end of the world, the berbers, bedoins and tuaregs live in the desert and so could get to the fringes of existence but how much knowledge did these goat herders had to offer when things where shaping up in the Mediterranean, then they were even worse off than us, they were bandits and marauders scourging the desert and being a terror to anyone who venture into it. Then also look at places like South America and the Caribbeans, places that were not separated by sand but by a great ocean, what kind of civilization grew there, the aztecs, the various warring native american tribes, the aborigines, they were no different from us. When the civilizations of the Mediterranean came they swept them all away in a few decades just like us, not because we were not brave but becaue we had been cut off from knowledge, we were kindergartens in a University environment and we are still playing catch-up. |
Proudlyngwa:Am not disputing any of the above facts but its also a fact that travel across the Sahara desert is tough and not for the faint hearted. in fact while the forest and mangrove etc has been conquered now, travelling through the desert is still very tough till now. In the middle ages crossing such a zone (especially without mechanized transport) is worthwhile only when exceptional circumstances cause the expected gain to outweigh the cost and danger. The caravans would be guided by highly paid Berbers who knew the desert and could ensure safe passage from their fellow desert nomads. The survival of a caravan was precarious and would rely on careful coordination. Runners would be sent ahead to oases so that water could be shipped out to the caravan when it was still several days away, as the caravans could not easily carry enough with them to make the full journey. Now while merchants can take such risks because of expected gains, the ample dissemination of ideas, sharing of ideas, acculturation was near impossible by scholars, journeymen, adventurers was difficult compare that to rome adopting greek ideas and appropriating, the Arabs learning all they can from past european civilization and india and then Europe waking from their slumber and ushering a new dawn. Then look at scholars moving from Italy to study at the great library in Alexandria in Egypt, English scholars going to German universities and russia eventually catching up by importing scholars to their schools, all happening with relative travel ease. Such synergy aided them a lot. While such knowledge was available just north of the sahara and shared among them and it spread all the way to india and china. It never got here until milleniums later, by the time it came it was in trickles through islamic scholars. Was there a deliberate policy by these people not to bring it down south. No, its just that people dont just go down south, only few daredevils and sherlocks and later religious zealots. Europe knew about china, india places farther than here long before they had a sniff of us. Almost everybody in world has learnt to write extensively for hundreds and thousands of years, here we could not write down our thoughts, except in very few places where we use a primitive form of hieroglyphics such he nsibidi writings, but Egypt has been writing their history for thousands of years even before the greeks, the romans, saxons, celts, franks. Why didn't we even get to know how to write, there was a need for it, we even tried to do it but others up north learnt from each other and moved in light-year leaps while we were barely crawling. |
Proudlyngwa:Even if we chart the Niger, and how much would that achieve?. We would still be revolving around people with similar knowledge and know-how, with similar food etc. Then it was difficult to chart the Niger because if you venture just from warri to kainji, you would have crossed the territories of the of Edos, the Ibos, the Igalas, and other tribes with varying allegiances and you cant guarantee that you would make the journey to a good distance. Of course every tribe /people could navigate masterfully its own section of the river, but to take on the whole river, you would need a King with Jurisdiction or Diplomatic power across a great section of the river to achieve such and no such power emerged due to various reasons. The acclaimed first centre of Civilization was the sumerian/babylonian, then the egyptians, assyrians, babylonians, greeks romans etc. the people of these cultures were able to pass knowledge easily from one to the other and they all copied and improved on each others architecture, religion, science etc. It led to a boom fro them, great empires were created which facilitated peace for decades and centuries allowing prosperity and learning. After the collapse of the Roman empire, tribal warlords took over and Europe became balkanized, the shift and momentum i advancement went to the Islamic Caliphates and other Asian Civilizations that could maintain large territories, the Huns became great when ghengis khan brutalized them into an Empire, the Indian's best years were the years of the Mughal Emperors, China with all its dynasties stretched across vast areas and knowledge florished. In fact Europe forgot about themselves and had to learn about their past from Arabic literature, because when their empires were about to decline, the sun of the Islamic caliphates was about to rise and they have painstakingly written down all they have learnt from others. Sub-saharan Africa started became noticed by the rest of the world when the Arab Merchants and Preachers conquered the desert and talked about people beyond the desert. They brought with them knowledge we didn't have, religion we didnt know and a host of other things that have become commonplace north of the desert. |
Proudlyngwa:The terrain was harsh and difficult to traverse, but india had similar rain forest and mountainous terrain and they did a great deal of trading, though it was people that came to them and they didnt do much of the reaching out probably because they also did not have a need to. Large expansive empires and conquest is very tough to achieve in such places. Such conquest generally allows for peace to reign, knowledge to be stored and preserved and learning to be prioritized. |
Proudlyngwa:Greed, prejudice etc are human frailties and it is evident in all cultures, it is probably more apparent in the european/asian cultures than Africa at least with respect to scale. I would say Necessity and the disconnect from the cradle and centers of civilization caused by the forbidding sahara desert made made us be light years behind. |
ernieboy:Europeans mastered the seas during the age of discovery and exploration. Before then the Mediterranean sea has been mastered long before Jesus came. Ships were going from Asia minor all the way to Spain. The Mediterranean Civilization was built on sea voyages, trading was primarily done by sea. There is evidence that Norsemen got to America centuries before Columbus or Vespucci. Africans traded along land corridors mainly, there was negligible trading if any at all across any seas. In fact Islands that are very close to Africa such as Madagascar was first populated by people from the Indian Ocean, from as far away as borneo. Seychelles is even a closer island but African Tribes closer to it never inhabited it either because they don't have too because there was no reason to or the trouble to travel the seas was too much to handle. |
sexybbstar:It's taste is wonderful |
Reference:Typical uncle Tom |
That's a free kick not a yellow card |
Statsocial:God struck them dead because they knowingly lied before him. They didn't die because they insulted Peter. |
Ratello:It's time for you and your crew to take a bow. The argument has been won by the other side through logical and coherent superior argument. Thank you for your spirited effort and time. |
hmmm interesting |
sirxbit:God created man perfect, man corrupted himself and his offspring with sin, from sin came all woes, deformity and death. |
folakemigeh:Many married men have done this without blinking. Some have travelled for months out of home and did not have sex throughout the period |
attackgat:Not the same at all. Britain comprises autonomous region of England, Wales, Scotland. They are autonomous regions. While UK is England Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. These autonomous regions have a choice to pull out of the union, which made those referendums possible. England cant stop Scotland from having a referendum because she has no constitutional powers to stop it according to their arrangement. The Parallel to Nigeria would be if Wessex region of England which includes London and other major towns wants to pull out of England. |
Bluetooth2:You called him stupid, when you can not even interpret what you have watched. The place the chiefs led the man to, is that the border of Edo State? A king sent a man out of his palace for disrespecting him and you call him stupid......that tells us more about you. |
henryobinna:Dont just read headlines, in the video in what way was he banished from the kingdom. He was sent out of the palace. |
maddie24:its like when you see someones's wallet on the floor and you took it and didn't bother to return it compared to when you stole a wallet from someone's pocket. Some things are weakness others are wickedness...Big Difference. Even for Bible Sin get grade. |
attackgat:In history, there is hardly any secessionist movement without bloodshed and war. The parent country would always resist and fight back, especially if ethnic and religious feelings are roused. |
