The first song I remember watching of him then was the one he sang against smoking, drinking and drugs.... Which was a decent song. World music nomination na award. For Christmas a group of people decided to choose a date that has nothing to do with Jesus, but has a lot to do with a pagan god, then uses the methods and rites of the pagan celebration to honour christ which was absolutely not necessary nor commanded. Jesus himself has told us what to do to remember him. Why should some people hundreds of years later re-brand a pagan celebration (NEPA - PHCN), then make it a paramount celebration.

The Israelites clearly were trying to be clever, they knew the calf and such practices were pagan rites and is against the law. But they wanted to clean it up and make it acceptable by calling it a festival to Jehovah. Jesus has already told us how we can honor him, it is by obeying his commandments and doing his father's will and he also told us how we can remember him: by the lord's supper. The apostles and other early xtians honored Jesus but they clearly didn't need a redefined pagan ceremony to do so. The apostles didn't go to the gentiles and told them their pagan worship can be converted to honor Christ, rather they asked them to repent and stop doing them.

Asking people to stop using masquerade to honor Christ is not judging, it is doing your bit as a Christian warning your fellow xtian from doing what is bad or tainting his worship with demonism. What fellowship does light have with darkness. When a police man or even citizens sees a person committing or about to commit an offense, they try to dissuade or stop him. If the matter gets to the court he is judged by the judge. A xtian warns as a watchman because if you don't the blood of the person can be asked from you but God eventually judges the person to life or death.

Jesus cannot talk about Xmas when it didn't exist as a celebration amongst God's people then, but he warned us that we must worship with Spirit and truth not rites, he also said when he leaves Satan will sow weeds amongst the wheats and it would be hard to differentiate the weeds from the wheats. So we have accepted Xmas, new year, egungun and blend it in what then is xtianity. It would become an all comers affair, a broad way that accepts all sorts, that exerts nobody but accepts all and we know where Christ says that leads to.

As Christians we celebrate Christmas to remind each other about the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. Whether christmas is of pagan origin or not its of no use. Our motive behind the celebration is what is important.

You raised some interesting points. But I don't think having the right motives is enough to just convert a pagan celebration to to a Christian one. The nation of Israel did the same and they perished. When Moses went up the mountain and the Israelites felt he was delaying too much. They decided to worship God the way they felt. They built a calf and did a festival claimed that it was a festival to Jehovah. They decided to worship God the way the Egyptians do their own worship. They didn't say they were honoring any Egyptian God but that they were worshiping Jehovah who led them out of Egypt. God considered killing all of them but Moses pleaded still thousands died. So motives alone is not enough. If in a thousand years xtians are now wearing egungun/masquerade clothes and dancing around town with canes and claiming that they are now using it to honor Christ, many of us xtians who are leaving now will condemn it because we know it is egungun, or pagan masquerade that they are doing and it is totally wrong.

I thought it was said that it is 20 percent of what the states contribute to the Centre will be given back to them. Then I will suggest all states are included, then the ones that contribute zero to the Centre should have 20% deducted from what is normally given to them.
