tobtap: nigga, pls wat has dis got to do with isreal? 2.according to sss,the dude confessed dat indeed he is a spy. 3. nd pls stop dis acn stuff..we all know shia nd sunni are nd friends but dis ur writeup is unfounded...thanks
If only ignorant people like you would keep quiet, there would be no confusion.

It is so obvious the script was written by israelis for the SSS.see even israeli newspaper is reporting about it and giving it a spicy twist:

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/nigeria-arrests-iranian-terror-cell-planning-attacks-on-israeli-u-s-targets.premium-1.504799

The SSS is trying to milk the situation and accused the innocent men for trying to kill IBB and the Sultan, who is the head of Nigeria's Sunni Muslims.obviously the Mossad is teaching the SSS very well on how to ignite Shia-Sunni strife.according to the SSS,the suspect "confessed".what if I say according to my late grandfather the "suspect" denied, would you believe?

The israelis are milking the story by reporting that the "iranian spy cell" is plotting to kill israelis.which are we to believe?is this "iranian spy cell" made up of Yoruba men who are simply Shia Muslims also behind world war two?

I've heard about this story more than a month ago from a Shia friend in ilorin.A-C-N politicians are fighting among themselves, and framed the one who is Shia.the SSS have taken it to another level by linking it to IBB and the Sultan,to claim glory.the israelis are liinking it to the "suspects" aiming to kill israeli and american citizens.

You should go and read about the obviously staged recent Bulgaria attack, that israel is trying to use to accuse Hezbollah (another Shia group with links to Iran),and pressure the European Union to label Hezbollah as a "terrorist organization".so far the europeans have refused.it is so obvious israel is obsessed with fighting Iran in all ways possible.israel is not even worried about alqaeda as much as about iran.

People like you need intense education.your head contains many tight screws that need loosening.you take and believe whatever you read at face value, without critical analysis.you can believe anything!

Please Nigerians should be able to tell when a story sounds like comedy.firstly I have been informed by a reliable source who is a friend in Ilorin that one of the so called "suspect" arrested is an A-C-N chieftain in the state, and he is a Shia Muslim.he is facing a power struggle with other A-C-N members, and being a Shia, some dumb people want to make him an "Iranian spy".there is an estimated 10-15 million Shia Muslims in Nigeria, and that is not enough to make one "an Iranian spy".and what would this Yoruba man be spying for Iran in Kwara of all places? This is dirty Yoruba politics, and it is really unfortunate the SSS is been dragged into it to claim unwarranted glory.moreover, our cheap media like Vanguard who the israeli ambassador have visited their office,is quick to pick up the story and publish it because the word "Iran" is found there.secondly,Shia Muslims are different from the Sunni extremists known as Salafists or Wahhabi.the Shia themselves are victims of Wahhabi terrorism around the world.boko haram and alqaeda follow the Wahhabi or Salafist ideology.lastly, what is the evidence for such a dramatic story? I hope the Iranian embassy would sue the newspaper that paraded this story and whoever made it up and disseminated it,for dragging Iran's image into the mud.last time it was containers of weapons in transit that were arrested in Lagos.the iranian weapons were bought by either senegal or gambia.internationally,it is against UN resolutions to either buy or sell weapons to iran.obviously the west african country was too scared to admit it bought iranian made weapons from iran.israel quickly led the propaganda campaign, and nigeria newspapers like the vanguard and guardian were publishing exactly as israeli newspapers on the siezed weapons.first we were told the weapons were for gaza.imagine where nigeria is and where gaza is.later, apparently the US in the UN influenced the Nigerian decision to report Iran to the security council.perhaps this story today is meant to coincide with the coming of Bill Clinton.it is called "eye service".the question is why are we the ones now looking for trouble with iran? Must iran be our enemy because the US is a rival of iran?

Pakistan's sectarian tensions

Aljazeera
Last updated: 3 hours ago

As attacks continue on Shias in Balochistan, we ask if the government is doing enough to protect minority communities.
A bomb attack on Shia Muslims in Pakistan's Balochistan province has killed more than 80 people and injured almost 200 others.

Almost a tonne of explosives tore through a crowded market in a largely Shia neighbourhood in Quetta in southwestern Balochistan. This was the second major attack this year.

"They are trying intentionally, in Quetta district, to promote religious extremism. So I think they are provoking our community to be involved; they are going to drag us into the phatic mire of sectarianism. But our people are very peaceful people. We only demand this is my right, a human being's right, we want security and nothing else."

- Abdul Khalique Hazara, the chairman of the Hazara Democratic Party

A bomb attack in the provincial capital last month killed at least 92 people.

Shia community leaders say the Pakistani government is not doing enough to protect them, and is unable or unwilling to take on those responsible.

The banned Sunni Muslim group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi says it carried out both attacks.

The group, which was founded in the late 1990s, was banned in Pakistan in 2001 and designated a terrorist group by the US in 2003.

It is known to have ties to other networks, such as the Pakistan and Afghan Taliban. And it has been linked to major attacks such as the 2007 assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Most of Pakistan's Muslim population is Sunni, with between 10 and 20 percent estimated to be Shia.

The longstanding conflict between the two groups stems from a disagreement over who was the rightful successor of the Prophet Muhammad after his death.

"The dilemma for Amnesty International and for others is we cannot decide whether Pakistan is unwilling or unable to stop these groups. If they are unwilling, that is a question of complicity. If they are unable, that is a more serious matter of the Pakistani military and the state of Pakistan [being] unable to defend the integrity of their own country, and I think given Pakistan's nuclear capability and its larger status in the world, that is a very important issue for the US, as well as India and China."

- Stephen Cohen, Brookings Institution

Many people in the Shia community in Quetta are ethnic Hazaras. Some of their ancestors migrated from Afghanistan to Pakistan and Iran over a hundred years ago. More than 650,000 now live in Pakistan - mainly in Balochistan's capital.

The Hazara Organisation for Peace and Equality says more than a thousand Hazaras have been killed in Pakistan since 1999. But in the last 15 years, they say, no one has been brought to justice.

Balochistan is Pakistan's largest province by area. It is about the size of France, and bordered by Afghanistan and Iran. But it is the smallest in terms of population - estimated at a little under eight million.

The province has vast reserves of oil and gas, gold, copper and uranium; and that is contributing to a separatist rebellion.

Nationalist groups are demanding political autonomy, and a greater share of profits from the region's resources. And they are joining forces to take on Pakistan's military.

To discuss Pakistan's sectarian tensions, Inside Story, with presenter Jane Dutton, is joined by guests: Abdul Khalique Hazara, the chairman of the Hazara Democratic Party, representing Shia Muslims in Pakistan; Stephen Cohen, a senior fellow in foreign policy studies at the Brookings Institution; and Zaid Hamid, a political analyst and head of the Pakistani think tank, Brasstacks.

Rallies slam Shia killings in Pakistan'

Sun Feb 17, 2013 10:49PM GMT

Pakistanis have reportedly staged protest rallies in several cities across the country to condemn the recent bomb attack that targeted Shia Muslims in the southwestern city of Quetta.

According to local media reports, the demonstrations were held in the cities of Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Hyderabad, Multan, Muzaffarabad, and several other cities and towns in the Asian country.

The protesters called on the Pakistani government to provide security for the nation’s Shia Muslims.

The bombing tore through the crowded vegetable market in the town of Hazara, on the outskirts of Quetta in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan Province, on Saturday. The area is mostly inhabited by Shia Muslims.

The bomb, containing nearly a tone of explosives, was hidden in a water tank and towed into the market by a tractor, Quetta police chief Zubair Mahmood told reporters.

Reports say that some 84 people were killed in the attack and about 200 others were injured.

Meanwhile, many businesses in Quetta went on strike to condemn Saturday’s deadly bombing.

The governor of Balochistan also criticized Pakistani security officials for failing to protect Shias.

Violence has been on the rise against Shia Muslims in different parts of the country in recent months.

On January 10, nearly 130 people were killed and many others injured in a wave of deadly bomb attacks targeting both Pakistani security guards and civilians in Quetta.

The attack triggered protests in condemnation of violence against Shia Muslims in Pakistan. Protesters said the Pakistani government had failed to take proper action to prevent terror attacks on the Shia Muslim community.

Shias make up 20 percent of the country's 180-million-strong population.

Since the beginning of 2012, hundreds of Shias have been killed in Pakistan. The attacks have targeted many doctors, engineers, high-ranking government officials, teachers, and politicians.

Market bomb kills 79 in southwest Pakistan: police
AFP - 2 hrs ago

A bomb targeting Shiite Muslims in a busy market in Pakistan's insurgency-hit southwest killed 79 people including women and children and wounded 180 others, officials said Sunday.

The powerful bomb in a water tanker ripped through a packed bazaar in Hazara town, an area dominated by Shiites on the outskirts of Quetta -- capital of oil and gas rich Baluchistan province -- at around 6:00 pm (1300 GMT) on Saturday.

"We have recovered more dead bodies from the debris of a collapsed building. The death toll has now risen to 79," senior Quetta police official Wazir Khan Nasir told AFP,

Quetta city police chief Zubair Mehmood said the water tanker, which officials said was packed with some 800 kilograms (1,750 pounds) of explosives, was placed near a pillar of a two-storey building, which collapsed in the blast.

"We fear that several people have been trapped inside. Rescue work is ongoing but I see very little chance of their survival," Mehmood said.

Nasir said the bombing "was a sectarian attack, the Shiite community was the target".

A spokesman for the banned Sunni Muslim extremist group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Provincial home secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani said the dead and injured included women and children, and confirmed reports of people trapped under rubble at the site of the collapsed building.

"We fear more casualties. We have announced an emergency in hospitals," he told AFP.

Officials and witnesses said an angry mob initially surrounded the area following the bombing and were not allowing police, rescue workers and reporters to reach the site.

"They were angry and started a protest, some of them pelted police with stones," Durrani said, adding that authorities and medical personnel were eventually able to gain access.

Sayed Qamar Haider Zaidi, a spokesman for Shiite groups in the area, condemned the Pakistani government for not providing protection to the community and announced three days of mourning and protest over the attack.

Baluchistan, which borders Iran and Afghanistan, has increasingly become a flashpoint for sectarian violence between Pakistan's majority Sunni Muslims and Shiites, who account for around a fifth of the country's 180 million people.

At least 92 people were killed and 121 wounded on January 10 when two suicide bombers blew themselves up at a crowded snooker club in an area of Quetta city dominated by the Shiite community.

It was Pakistan's worst sectarian bombing, also claimed by Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, and came after what Human Rights Watch (HRW) said was the deadliest year on record for the country's Shiites, with more than 400 people killed in 2012, mostly in drive-by shootings.

Pakistani Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf late last month sacked the provincial government in Baluchistan after meeting Shiite Muslim protesters demanding protection.

The province is also rife with Islamist militants and hit by a regional insurgency which began in 2004, with fighters demanding political autonomy and a greater share of profits from the region's natural resources.

Iran unveils futuristic-looking warplane

AFP | 8 hours ago

TEHRAN: Iran on Saturday unveiled a fighter jet, which it said was designed and built domestically, with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad touting it as “one of the most advanced” aircraft in the world.

State television footage showed the grey, futuristic-looking aircraft, code-named Qaher (Conqueror) F-313, displayed in a hangar.

The warplane “is among the most advanced fighter jets in the world,” Ahmadinejad told defence ministry top brass at the unveiling, media reports said.

Ahmadinejad said the aircraft was designed and built in Iran, and was test-flown for “thousands of hours” by pilots who are “very satisfied with its performance.”

The unveiling comes as Iran marks the 34th anniversary of the 1979 revolution, which replaced the US-backed shah with an Islamic regime.

Iran traditionally uses the anniversary period to showcase military, space and nuclear advances, against the backdrop of international sanctions.

Ahmadinejad called Qaher “a deterrent” meant to send a “message of peace,” despite its aggressive name.

Media quoted Defence Minister Ahmad Vahidi as saying the plane boasted a very low radar signature, and that “advanced materials” were used to build it.

He said, without elaborating, that it is also equipped with “advanced electro-avionics systems.”

Vahidi said the plane could land on short runways and will “meet the needs of the Iranian air force.”

The Islamic republic is subject to a US embargo which prohibits it from buying new fighter jets and spare parts for its aging air force, much of which is of American origin and was bought in a huge pre-revolution spending spree.

Iran also has Russian jets, but in past years has concentrated on developing entirely home-produced warplanes.

Tehran is also locked in a showdown with the UN Security Council over its controversial nuclear programme of uranium enrichment, and talks with world powers aimed at resolving international concerns have been stalled for months.

Iran launches Ya Zahra air defense system production line

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi

Sun Jan 27, 2013 10:12AM GMT

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi has inaugurated the production line of an indigenous short-range air defense system called Ya Zahra.

“This defense system has the capability of detecting, tracking and destroying short-range aerial targets such as aircraft, helicopters and drones,” Vahidi said on Sunday.

“Other features of the system include the capability of simultaneously engaging and destroying several targets, high operational speed and fully automatic tracking,” the Iranian defense minister added.

Vahidi added that the mobile missile system can be connected to the country’s defense network and deployed in any location.

Iran tested the Ya Zahra missile system during a massive seven-day maneuver, codenamed Modafe'an-e Aseman-e Velayat 4 (Defenders of the Velayat Skies 4), in November 2012.

Vahidi also pointed to the mass-production of the Mersad air defense system, saying, “Mersad surface-to-air missile system is an efficient and advanced medium-range air defense system which can carry out defense operations against various kinds of high-speed aircraft, helicopters, drone and cruise missiles.”

Vahidi said the system had managed to successfully destroy aerial targets in the Modafe'an-e Aseman-e Velayat 4 drills.

Over the past years, Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might poses no threat to other countries, reiterating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.

you turn the other cheek when you are too weak to ensure justice is administered.Jesus (as) was in no position back then from the political and worldly perspective to administer justice or defend his right.so his choice is to turn the other cheek.if he does not turn the other cheek in a state where he does not have the means or power to administer justice, then that would be suicide.even Islam tells us before defending ourselves we must be prepared and "prepare for them what you can of power".

when you defend your right and a criminal is handed what he deserves, that is called justice.the two concepts of justice and turning the other cheek,do not contradict.they are in perfect harmony when each is used at the right time.

IslamRe: Reasons For The Forbidance Of Celebrating The Prophet Birthday By Shaykh Salih F by Rafidi:
tbaba1234: Celebrating Eid ul Fitr or Eid ul adha are acts of worship.... These are the only Eids sanctioned in Islam... Adding a third, Eid ul maulud is saying you know more than the prophet.

That is why he has said, after seeing that the people of Madeenah had two holidays which they celebrated from before Islaam, which is reported by Anas ibn Maalik that the Prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said,

"Allâh has given you better than those feasts: the ‘Eid-ul-Adh-haa (Feast of Sacrificing), and ‘Eid-ul-Fitr (feast of Breaking the fast)." [Sunan An-Nasaaee: English translation: (vol. 2, p.333, no. 1559), Sunan Abu Dauwud: English translation: (vol. 1, p.293, no. 1130). It is authenticated by Shaykh Al-Albaanee in Saheeh Sunan Aboo Daawood: vol. 1, p. 210, no.1004.]

There is no maulid, Is there?

Introducing something into the religion that the prophet did not sanction is frown upon... That is why i\he said:

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Every newly introduced affair is an innovation. Every innovation is an error and every error is in the fire.” This is an authentic hadîth related by al-Tirmidhî and others.

`A’ishah, the Mother of the Believers relates that Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever introduces something new into this matter of ours that is not from it will have it rejected.” [Sahîh al-Bukhârî and Sahîh Muslim] In another narration, it reads: “Whoever does an act that is not in accordance with this matter of ours will have it rejected.” [Sahîh Muslim]
what is the meaning of "sunnah" if you refer to observing Mawlid as "bid'ah"? (sunnah is not only what you like or choose to follow). have the fear of Allah! you will be brought to account for such false info based on salafist mental confusion.

the Prophet (s) is cited in hadith books in more than one place of giving importance to the day he was born.sunnah is the words or deeds of the Prophet (s).even if the Prophet (s) does it once, then that becomes a sunnah.

as for the word "eid",in arabic "eid" means "feast".saudi arabia where the salafist ideology is prevalent has its "eid al watan",which means "national feast" or what we celebrate as "independence day".so that is an additional "eid" the saudi salafists observe.if we are to strictly treat the word "eid" as an islamic terminology and not just an arabic word, then you should regard the saudi salafist as upholding an additional "eid" which is bid'ah.the Prophet (s) never observed the saudi national day as an "eid",or did he?

you can refer to the Prophet's (s) birthday as "eid" or "day" or "occasion".but as far as we muslims are,and in fact humanity is concerned, the day the Prophet (s) was born is a day to be very much happy about and to honor.whatever acts of worship done,is the usual islamic acts of worship and done to please Allah.(if this day can make people draw closer to Allah in thankfulness, that is great).that day will continue to be observed by Sunni Muslims (not influenced by wahhabism/salafism) on the 12th of Rabiul-Awwal and by Shia Muslims on the 17th of Rabiul-Awwal in spite of the billions of petro-dollars the saudi wahhabis/salafists expend to brainwash and deceive people to shun honoring the holy Prophet (s) of Islam and following his sunnah.we are followers of Muhammad (s) that Almighty Allah ordered us in the holy Quran to honor.we are not followers of fake ideologies/teachings that disguise themselves as upholding the Quran and Sunnah when in fact in reality and upon a quick investigation they stand for everything opposite of the Quran and Sunnah.

Mr. Tbaba kindly knock the door of your heart and use a little more of the word "think".you will inshaAllah get there.

2.) The Prophet (SAW) himself celebrated his birth. In a Hadith narrated by Anas, in the Sunan of Imam Bayhaqi, (v.9 p.300 no. 43), states that the Prophet (SAW) sacrificed some animals and performed an aqiqa for himself after the announcement of his Prophethood.

Imam Suyuti states that this was not an aqiqa done in the traditional sense since his grandfather had already performed it. It is not possible to repeat an act of Shari’ah once it is already done. Imam Suyuti states that the reason for the sacrifice of the animals was an act of thankfulness and a celebration done by the Prophet (SAW) for his birth. Imam Suyuti concludes that it is mustahab (advisable) for us to celebrate the mawlid in ijtima (collectively) since the Prophet (SAW) sacrificed animals and distributed the food and thus we too should have a gathering and distribute food and rejoice in a good manner (‘Husn Maqsid fî `Amal-il mawlid by Imâm Jalâl ad-Dîn Suyûtî, pp. 64-6).

Some critics may argue that since the Prophet’s original aqiqa was done in the period of jahliyyah he wanted to repeat it to ensure its proper performance. However this is not a valid argument because why were other acts not repeated by the Prophet (SAW)? For example why did he not repeat his nikah to Hadrat Khadija (rad) which was originally done prior to Prophethood?

3.) Imam Al Suyuti, from Alhawi lil fatawi, wrote a chapter entitled ‘The Good Intention in Commemorating the Mawlid’ in which he said, ‘To commemorate the Mawlid, which is basically gathering people together, reciting parts of the Qu'ran, narrating stories about the Prophet's birth and the signs that accompanied it, then serving food, and afterwards, departing, is one of the good innovations; and the one who practices it gets rewarded, because it involves venerating the status of the Prophet and expressing joy for his honourable birth.’

4.) Allama Ibn Qayyim al Jawziyyah, a renowned student of Imam Ibn Taymiyya, writes, in Madarij as-Salikin. ‘Listening to a good voice celebrating the birthday of the Prophet (SAW) or celebrating any of the holy days in our history gives peace to the heart, and gives the listener light from the Prophet (SAW) to his heart, and he will drink more from the Muhammadan spring’

5.) Ibn Kathir showing his appreciation of celebrating the Mawlid, mentions in Al Bidayah wan Nihayah the Islamic ruler Malik al-Muzzafar. He writes, ‘During Rabi ul Awwal he used to celebrate Mawlid with great celebration, Moreover, he was benevolent, brave, wise, a scholar, and a just person. Shaykh Abul Khattab wrote a book on Mawlid an Nabi for him and named it At-Tanwir fi Mawlid al Bashir al Nazeer, for which he gave him 1000 dinars. His rule stayed till the Rule of Salahiya and he captured Aka and he remained a man worthy of respect. Al-Sabt mentions that a person attending the gathering of Mawlid held by Muzzafar said: He used to fill the table with 5000 well cooked goats, 10,000 chickens, 100-thousand bowls (of milk) and 30,000 trays of sweets.’ This clearly indicates that the practise of Mawlid was commemorated by those who were authorities in Islam.

The first flight test for Saeqeh was in 2004, and it was delivered to Iran Air Force in 2007.

Iranian defense industries had introduced “Tondar,” a fighter jet for the training fighter pilots before.

In the military world, designing and manufacturing a fighter jet is one of most important steps of science and technology in defense and military production and Iran, with unveiling the third generation of its fighter jets, has taken big steps in manufacturing of fighter jets.

I took the day off from externship work when others are still going to work because they thought I needed to celebrate the eid.
Anyway if they find this thread out I can always tell them that I am a Shia Muslim so I celebrate id el Maulud tongue
Sunnis mark the birthday of the Prophet (s) on the 12th of Rabiul-Awwal.Shia mark it on the 17th of Rabiul-Awwal.in Iran (where the Shia are predominant),the entire week from the 12th to the 17th is known as ISLAMIC UNITY WEEK to mark the Prophet's (s) birthday.both Shia and Sunnis mark it.only the salafist ideologists among Sunnis do not,and they form a tiny minority, and are prevalent in saudi arabia.

so the birthday of the Prophet (s) is not a Shia-Sunni issue.

Secretary General of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) World Assembly said celebrations are planned to be held in 115 countries on the auspicious occasion of the auspicious birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny).

Speaking in a press conference on Monday, January 21, Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad Hassan Akhtari also said that concurrent with the auspicious occasion, a ten-day program titled Prophet of Mercy and Justice has started in Iran and other countries.

He said in the past years, some irrational individuals, based on plots hatched by hegemonic powers, especially the US and Israel and their allies, have made numerous attempts to impede the progress of Islam in the world, adding that one of these attempts has been desecration of the Prophet (SAWA).

Hujjat al-Islam Akhtari added that Muslims have taken different measures to confront these plots, and the mentioned program is one of them.

He said the reason behind irrational attempts by the enemies of Islam is the ignorance of human society about the pure culture of Islam and the status of the Prophet (SAWA), stressing that such attempts should be confronted rationally.

The senior religious scholar noted that the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) World Assembly has sent letters to the Muslim worlds scholars and great figures, reminding them of their responsibility to confront anti-Islamic moves.

He regretted that little has been done to introduce the status and role of Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) in the guidance of humanity.

Islamic Unity Week

The Islamic Unity Week is marked between 12-17th Rabiul Awwal on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Prophet Mohammad SAW.

This period in which Muslims ponder on the fundamental call of unity according to the Holy Quran was initiated by the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (SA), following the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979.

Since its inception, the Islamic Unity Week has been marked annually, not only in Iran, but also throughout the world, and has played an important role in bringing the various Islamic Schools of Thought on a single platform, since Allah is One, and Muslims believe in the single Qur’an and bow towards the same focal point, that is the Holy Ka’ba, five times a day during daily prayers. Other commonalities among Muslims including fasting during the same month of Ramadhan and performance of the annual Hajj pilgrimage on the same dates of the month of Zil-Hijja. In view of these and other remarkable factors of unity, it is but natural for Muslims following the different schools of jurisprudence to close ranks in solidarity, especially in view of the divine commandment in the Holy Qur’an to “And hold fast by the covenant of Allah all together and be not disunited.” (Holy Qur'an 3:103)

Bridging the gap

The late Imam Khomeini’s foresight helped bridge the gap of five days between the two dates believed to be the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). According to Sunni Islamic narrations, the 12th of Rabi al-Awwal is recognized as the birth date of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). On the other hand Islamic sources relied upon by Shia Muslims and based on the narrations from the Ahlul Bayt (The Prophet's pure progeny); the auspicious birthday of the Holy Prophet (SAW) was on 17th of Rabi-al-Awwal.

In order to bridge this difference and use it as an opportunity to unite the ranks of Muslims, the founder of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Imam Khomeini (SA) designated the period of Milad-un-Nabi celebrations from 12th to the 17th of Rabi al-Awwal as the Islamic Unity Week. This dynamic concept aims to bring all Muslim schools of thought on the common platform of Islamic unity.

There is indeed unity in diversity and the idea of Islamic Unity Week has awakened Muslims from centuries of slumber largely because of the discord sowing policies of the enemies of Islam especially the Western colonialists and their local ignorant agents. The Ummah has also begun to realize that it is only unity and solidarity that will enable Muslims to utilize their vast untapped potential and rescue them from the never ending devious plots of their enemies who range from imperialists, Zionists, arrogant powers and Islamphobes. Islamic unity is the need of the hour, especially after the crusading campaign against Muslims unleashed by western governments, led by the great Satan, the US, in the name of combating terrorism following the highly suspicious incidents that rocked New York and Washington on September 11, 2001.

The US has since occupied two Muslim countries, Afghanistan and Iraq, and is threatening other Islamic lands. The issues of Palestine continue to linger on as Zionists and their western allies, aware of lack of solidarity within Islamic ranks, continue to occupy the Holy Quds, the first Qibla of Muslims. The plight of 1.5 Million besieged Palestinians in Gaza is should serve as a call to unity among the over 1.5 Billion Muslims in the world.

This year the Islamic Unity Week is being marked amid a backdrop of a new Islamic wind of change sweeping across the Middle East. The Muslim masses in the region have awakened and so far toppled the Mubarak regime in Egypt which was subservient the 'Great Satan', the U.S. and the illegal Zionist regime. Muslim masses have also deposed the Tunisian dictator Ben Ali who was an obedient servant of Western countries and the Zionists.

All nations in the region have common demands which include non-interference of arrogant powers (in their internal affairs), fight against aggression of the Zionist regime and cutting dependence on the US, Zionist regime and their allies.A new Middle East is taking shape, not the Mideast the West had planned for but one which has been created based on Islamic awakening.
The movement and uprising that has been created in the region will definitely disturb the equations in the world today. No doubt the era of puppet regimes has passed and revolutions in the Middle East are against the US-supported dictators in the region.

As the leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said 'the West is concerned that the Islamic Revolution is served as a model for the region and the entire world'. “Enemies are making efforts to prevent the Islamic Iran from serving as a model for Muslim nations in the region because public movements will be difficult without a model,” said Ayatollah Khamenei.
The Leader added that the main reason behind the West pressure on the Islamic Republic is that Iran is promoting a model in the region and the globe.
“After the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, enemies have been making efforts to weaken the Islamic establishment through imposing various sanctions and the eight-year (Iraqi) imposed war, raising human rights issues and assassinating nuclear scientists,” Ayatollah Khamenei noted.

He pointed to latest developments in Egypt and other regional countries and added, “The Islamic awareness has begun in the Muslim world. This was emanated from the Islamic Revolution.”
The Leader noted that the upward move of the Islamic awareness in the Muslim world is the "sweet outcome" of the resistance of the Iranian nation over the past 32 years.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that very important incidents that took place in Egypt stemmed from the Islamic awareness and humiliation of the civilized Egyptians for many years. He said the Egyptian government inflicted humiliation on the people due to its dependence on the US and the Zionist regime until the Egyptian nation and youth finally rose up.

The United States and the Zionist regime (Israel) are creating obstacles in the way of movements by the Egyptian and Tunisian nations through different means, but Muslim states in the region, through a show of unity, should help people of these two countries.Unity among Muslims is the best method to counter the enemies. Unity and solidarity present Muslim governments and nations with the best and most effective way to counter the plans, plots, and conspiracies of the enemies of Islam.

Arrogant powers led by the U.S. regime have always tried to fight the unity among Muslim countries by committing conspiracies through their mercenaries.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is the true pioneer of unity across the world. The International Conference of Islamic Unity and other regional and global seminars organized by Iran are “golden” examples of Tehran's efforts to promote proximity between Muslim states.

In view of the threats posed by enemies, it is essential for the Islamic world to close ranks and coordinate efforts to counter the Zionist and U.S led aggressions. The predators have hatched a variety of plots to plunder the vast wealth and natural resources of Muslim countries through different means and at the same time brainwash minds of uninformed Muslims by way of distorted media reports, glamorous yet misleading films and TV programs, deceptive newspapers and magazines, decadent internet websites and the violence-filled computer games.

This is in stark contrast to the logical reasoning of Islam that gave the world a lasting civilization at a time when Europe was languishing in the dark ages. It is the quest for knowledge, the respect for others rights and fostering of humanitarian values that made Islam and true believers dynamic, much to the detriment of the detractors. It is the lifestyle and guidance of the Prophet (SAW), the immaculate members of his household, the Ahlul Bayt and the rightly guided companions which charts the path of righteousness by giving a practical demonstration of the revealed word of Allah for the betterment of human society and acts as a beacon of light for mankind.

Muslims thus ought to follow the Prophet’s perfect path of establishing unity and solidarity, and thereby becoming immune from the onslaughts of their common enemies. They should be on guard against divisive tendencies since the Zionist regime and Western imperialists have made no secret of their plans to divide and rule. Alas, our failure to check the evil ambitions of the US and the devilish plots of our avowed enemy the illegal Zionist entity called Israel, have been due to lack of unity. Solidarity can neither be superficial by mere expressing of words of sympathy nor can it be imposed. The plight of the Palestinian Muslims and the American atrocities in Iraq and Afghanistan, are examples in this regard. Our lethargy and our mere lip service makes matters more complicated matters. Unity and solidarity ought to be based on sincerity of purpose. This is possible only by heeding what God Almighty commands in the Holy Qur’an and what was practically demonstrated by the Prophet. Therefore, it is wrong to believe that slogans and submissive ties with the enemies will save Muslims. A true Muslim state has to be independent and independence is not possible unless people strive for self-sufficiency, solidarity and security.

Through authentic unity Muslims will certainly attain progress and conquer the pinnacles of powers in all fields, including political, social, cultural, technological, economic and industrial. Although foreign policy with focus on building inter-Muslim solidarity is welcome, it is essential to pursue cultural and intellectual methods to help bridge the gulf of the past centuries. This is possible through expert gathering in different fields with sincere efforts to study and remove the root cause of differences among Muslims. The Islamic Republic of Iran has shown the way through annual international and national Islamic unity conferences.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday 15th Feb warned of enemy's divisive plots in the region, and called on Islamic states to hammer out closer ties to play a more influential role in the world.

Speaking in a meeting with visiting Turkish President Abdullah Gul and members of the Turkish delegation here in Tehran Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that safeguarding and bolstering Islamic unity as well as avoiding aliens' divisive plots are the most important issue in the Muslim World.
"All policies and managements in the Islamic countries should move towards fostering unity and increasing the power of the Muslim world," Ayatollah Khamenei noted.
As the Islamic Revolution leader stated, "If the Islamic world realizes its huge potential and capacities, the conditions will be quite different and the Islamic world can act as an influential and powerful bloc in international developments".
The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought extends its warm felicitations to Muslims worldwide on the occasion of Milad un Nabii and the Islamic Unity Week.

This year, 1432 AH concurrent with 2011 CE, Iran will be hosting the 24th Islamic Unity Conference where recent developments in the region will be top of the agenda. The conference will also review and analyze previous conferences with a view of coming up with practical solutions for attaining Islamic Unity.Over 250 scholars from 57 countries as well as 500 Shia and Sunni scholars from various Iranian cities are expected to attend this year's conference.

Unity Week and the Message of the Prophet

Salaam and welcome to a special feature on the start of a special week. For your information, today is the 12th of Rabi al-Awwal, which our Sunni brethren regard as the birth anniversary of the Almighty's Last and Greatest Messenger to mankind, Prophet Mohammad (SAWA).

Since, we the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt, on the basis of narrations from the Holy Household, consider the 17th of Rabi al-Awwal as the auspicious day of the Prophet’s birthday, this 5-day span has been bridged as the Unity Week thanks to the dynamic initiative taken 34 years ago by the Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (RA), to promote Islamic solidarity on the national and international level, in accordance with God’s command in ayah 103 of Surah Aal-e Imran: “Hold fast, all together, to Allah’s cord, and do not be divided [into sects]”

Prophet Mohammad (SAWA) was sent by God with the universal message of Islam, for all humanity. As the Messenger of Mercy, whose mission was foretold by all previous prophets over the different parts of the world, he preached brotherhood of humanity. Although born in Arabia, he never said the Arabs had any preference over the non Arabs. Among his companions were Salman the Persian, Sohaib the Roman, and Bilal, the black Abyssinian.

As a matter of fact, he hailed his Iranian companion Salman as “from us the Ahl al-Bayt”, an honour no Arab companion was able to achieve. Once, on the commandment of God, he concluded pact of brotherhood among his companions, selecting a pair of those who were friends of each other. For instance, if Salman and Abu Zar were paired as brothers, the others paired together were Zubair and Talha, as well as Abu Bakr and Omar, and Osman and Abdur-Raham Auf. Yet another pair was Meqdad and Ammar Yasser.

After pairing some 740 companions, the Prophet then held the hand of his dear cousin, Imam Ali ibn Taleb (AS), in his hand, and declared him his brother. The brotherhood accord was so firm and binding that when one such pair was martyred in the Battle of Ohad, the Prophet instructed the two be buried in a single grave. This is all indicative of the spirit of brotherhood in Iran, and this warrants Muslims to close ranks, instead of drifting away from each other. Thus, in view of these facts, it is necessary for the different denominations of Islam, especially the schools of jurisprudence to work closely with each other.

Today, international paganism in the form of the Zionists and the secularists of the West are trying to harm Islamic unity. Unfortunately, they are being assisted in their unholy mission by the Salafis and Wahhabis and the terrorist groups they have formed to create sedition in Muslim ranks, such as the al-Qa’eda, the Taleban, the Laskhar Jhangavi, etc. These terrorist groups are active in Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Egypt, and other countries, and under the guise of Islam, they are carrying out the mission of their masters in the West and the usurper state of Israel. Under such circumstances, it is vital for Sunni and Shi’ite Muslims to assemble on a single platform. The Prophet is the ideal for all Muslims, and before departing the world, he made it clear that the Muslims will never go astray if they hold fast to Weighty Things, which he introduces as Thaqalayn.

On the command of God, he said that he was leaving behind the Book of God, that is the holy Qur’an, and his progeny, the Ahl al-Bayt. The Prophet said the two are inseparable from each other, and as long as Muslims hold fast to them there never will be any discord. Thus, in order to thwart the plots of the enemies of Islam and humanity, Muslims should converge on the common platform of Islamic unity, on the basis of love and affection for the Infallible Ahl al-Bayt.

According to the holy Prophet, a true Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hands others are safe. A true Muslim should not oppress anyone, since oppression is a grave and unforgivable sin. Trampling the rights of others disrupts the psychological health of persons and is the most important factor for discord and separation. The Seal of Prophets made it clear that Muslims should regard themselves as brethren of the same community, and anyone who is not concerned about the affairs of fellow Muslims is not a true Muslim. It means, a Muslim should not betray another Muslim, let alone slander or kill him. As per the practice and behaviour of Prophet Mohammad (SAWA), a Muslim ought to be the mirror of his Muslim brother.

On the one hand, he views his values and virtues and turns to them and on the other hand, he distances from evilness and warns him. Muslims should help Muslims in achieving economic stability, rather than being influenced by the enemies of Islam to destroy the economy and industry of fellow Muslims.

In view of these facts, it is rather unfortunate for many Muslim countries to bow to the pressures of the US, to stop trade and other ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran, or engage in state terrorism against Syria. The holy Quran says “Power, altogether, belongs to Allah.” In ayah 29 of Surah Fath, the holy Quran presents us an interesting visage of the Prophet and his true companions, when it says:

“Mohammad, the Prophet of Allah, and those who are with him are hard against the faithless and merciful amongst themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in worship], seeking Allah’s grace and [His] pleasure. Their mark is [visible] on their faces, from the effect of prostration.”

IslamIslamic Unity Week in Rabiul-Awwal by Rafidi(op): 3:31pm On Jan 24, 2013
the Sunni Muslims celebrate the birthday of the Prophet (s) on the 12th of the Islamic month of Rabiul-Awwal.

Shia Muslims celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (s) on the 17th of Rabiul-Awwal.

in Iran, where the Shia school of thought is predominant, starting from the 12th all the way to the 17th of Rabiul-Awwal is marked as "Unity Week".instead of the difference (in date) in celebrating the birthday of the Prophet (s) to be a sign of division among Muslims, the Iranians use this week to foster unity among Muslims.the Prophet (s) is for all Muslims, and therefore his birth should bring unity and mercy for all Muslims.the celebrations in Iran starts on the 12th Rabiul-Awwal (marked by Sunnis) to end on the 17th of Rabiul-Awwal (which is marked by the Shia).

HAPPY UNITY WEEK!HAPPY EID MAWLID!!!

IslamRe: Is It A Sunnah Of The Prophet(s.a.w) To Celebrate Eid Maulud? by Rafidi: 3:17pm On Jan 24, 2013
Permissibility of Mawlid Based on the Quran:

1.) “So (as for) those who believe in him and honour him and help him, and follow the light which has been sent down with him, these it is that are the successful.” (Surat A'raf: 157)

2.) ‘Say: Because of the (fadl) Blessings of Allah and His (rahma) Mercy you should celebrate (with happiness and pleasure). That is better than what (wealth) they amass.’ (Q.10:58).

3.) "And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds". (Q. 21:107)

4.) ‘Indeed Allah conferred a great favour on the believers when he sent among them a Messenger (Muhammad)’ (Q.3:164)

5.) ‘That is the Grace of Allah, which He bestows on whom He wills. And Allah is the owner of Mighty Grace.’(Q.62:4)

6.) ‘And send salaam on him the day he (Yahya) was born, and the day he dies and the day he will be raised up to life (again).’ (Q.19:15)

Permissibility of Mawlid in Sunnah (Hadiths)

1.) In a Hadith narrated by Abu Qatada Ansari (rad), Allah's Messenger (SAW) was asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon he said: ‘It is (the day) when I was born and revelation was sent down to me.’
