Zhul-fiqar:

people have come to realize the truth on the topic in spite that the op opened this thread to vilify the Shia.so in order to continue the nonsense, you want to derail the thread.

why did you not copy all that was said in that thread? why only pick out few verses of the bible to accuse Muslims of being "pagan"? what does mourning have to do in this thread? there is no problem because I will still catch you and beat you with your point.that is evidence that Wahhabis/salafists have no aqeedah.

so when Aisha is reported to have beaten herself, she was doing acts of "pagan background", right? or is it only "pagan" if the Shia does it? please enlighten us :

al Tabari in History Volume 9 page 183 (English translation by Ismail Poonawala):

Abbas narrates:
“I heard Ayesha saying “The Messenger of God died on my bosom during my turn, I did not wrong anyone in regard to him. It was because of my ignorance and youthfulness that the Messenger of God died while he was in my lap. Then I laid his head on a pillow and got up beating my chest and slapping my face along with the women”.

and of course, there is also acts of "pagan background" found in the Holy Quran (astaghfirullah),according to the words of Mr.Wahhabi who does not know the Quran and does not know Islam but only sentiments:

“Then came forward his wife in grief, she smote her face and said (what! I) An old barren woman?”
Quran 51:29

"As Buddhists, if we had personalities like Imam Ali and Imam Hussain, as well as the book of the source of knowledge (Nahjul Balagha) by Imam Ali, as well as Karbala, we will convert everyone in the world into Buddhism, as we are proud of those two personalities".

-The Dalai Lama, the head of the Buddhist faith

"The message of Allah is meaningless in the understanding of people, except for those who follow Imam Hussain as a model. they gift all for their belief for the sake of Allah and uncover the truth about disbelief at the same time".

-Professor Pierre Lory, Sorbonne University Paris.

"Hussain was martyred as a courageous fighter, but for the barbaric way he was killed, there were deep political and religious effects upon the world Muslim nation as he was killed in such a bloody way for no reason, except for his wishes to affirm the pillars of justice and repeat the path of his grandfather the Prophet of Allah".

-Professor Kostantin Matveev, Russian Assyrians researcher.

New wave of bombings tears through Baghdad

A string of bombings have hit several neighbourhoods in Baghdad, killing at least 60 people and wounding 170 others.

Last Modified: 30 Sep 2013 15:58

Nine car bombs mainly targeting predominantly Shia neighbourhoods of Baghdad have killed at least 60 people and wounded 170 others, the latest in relentless violence in Iraq in recent months, police sources say.

The bombs hit eight different areas on Monday. The deadliest blast tore through a small vegetable market and its car park in the Kadhimiyah area, killing seven people including two soldiers and wounding sixteen others, a police officer said.

That was followed by four parked car bombs, which went off in quick succession in the neighbourhoods of New Baghdad, Habibiya and Sabaa al-Bour - all striking outdoor markets or car parks.

Security forces were deployed to the affected areas, closing off streets and using sniffer dogs to search for more bombs.

Attacks often target crowded places such as markets, cafes and mosques, seeking to inflict huge numbers of casualties.

No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the latest attacks. They come a day after a suicide bomber attacked mourners at a Shia mosque south of Baghdad, killing 47 people.

On Friday, bombs exploded near two Sunni mosques in Baghdad as worshippers left after prayers, killing six people.

The United Nations mission in Iraq said about 800 Iraqis were killed in acts of violence in August.

Violence in Iraq has reached a level not seen since 2008, when the country was just emerging from its brutal sectarian conflict.

it is interesting to see fellow Muslims call certain elements which goes against their own whims as "fables"/"speculation".yet it is so convenient to read the Quran and believe that the mother of Musa (as) placed her son in the sea and left him there to be taken to the house of pharaoh,so that Musa (as) would be the one to bring sadness to the tyrant.and so convenient to believe that Yusuf (as) was sold into slavery after surviving been thrown into a well, and ended up as a ruler in Egypt and superior to his brothers, to conform to dream he saw as a child.i don't know if it is the efforts the enemies of muslims are putting that appear as a fable or actually the beliefs related in the article.i am a muslim and I believe about Musa and Yusuf (may Allah's peace be upon them both).and we believe Isa (as) was taken up into the heavens and will return to earth after more than 2000 years.but to conveniently believe one supernatural story while we dash another as a fable is quite unfortunate for someone who claims to be a muslim.in fact, before reading this article I have heard from Shia brothers that it indeed happened that American soldiers in Iraq were asking people about the Mahdi (as)-who he is and where he is.

anyways,as muslims (whether we be shia or sunni),we should just pray that the coming of Imam Mahdi (aj) be soon.reagrdless if you sunnis believe he hasn't been born yet,or we shia believe he has been born over a 1000 years ago,a case similar to that of Prophet Isa (as).
Islam for Muslims / Re: Why We (Shia Muslims) Dislike Umar Ibn Alkhattab And He Is No Golden Leader by Rafidi: 4:15pm On Sep 05, 2013
a list of reasons we do not like Umar:

1.) he ran away from the battle of Uhud, when it was rumored that the Prophet (sa) had been killed.Umar abandoned everyone and Islam itself on the battlefield as per Quran verse 3:144.

2.) He insulted the Prophet (sa) while the latter was breathing his last on his deathbed.he called the Prophet (sa) "delirious" and refused granting the Prophet (sa) his order.see Hadith of Pen and Paper.

3.) He refused to join the expedition under the leadership of Usama Ibn Zaid Ibn Harith (ra),even though the Prophet (sa) had asked him and also abu bakr to leave Medina.he stayed back sensing the Prophet (sa) was critically ill,and foreseeing an opportunity to grab power.

4.) he orchestrated the proceedings in saqifa banu saeda.

5.) he is responsible for the assault on the house of Sayyida Fatima (as),daughter of the Prophet (sa).

6.) he is one of those 12 who had tried to assassinate the Prophet (sa) in Aqabah.

7.) he questioned the prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (sa) in bay'at al-ridhwan,or the pledge of allegiance under the tree.

these are reasons why we dislike him.you can choose to love him or not.you can choose to disagree or agree with us.this is our opinion.to us our own and to you your own.there is no harm in differing views, and display of tolerance even if you don't agree with me.

As far as I can see, the subject of this thread has not changed. My quarrel is with a pattern of behaviour among certain NL moderators who try to suppress alternative views when confronted with logic or in this case with cold scriptural facts.

Its a familiar behaviour over which I have expressed reservations in the past. I like to think that is not what is at play here.

you've not really seen anything.count how posts have been hidden in this thread.no one can say those posts are aimed at derailing the thread because they have to do with umar.posts can only derail a thread if they are off-topic.but they are not.i wonder who is kidding who.they are hiding things that anyone can google on the net and find out the truth about umar.

@ rafidi, fear God and be honest, search and pray for beneficial knowledge & nt of this type. UMAR (RA) ws d only sahaba that even shaytan is afraid of him bcoz of his devotion to islam and d prophet (s.a.w), d sahaba who gives his daughter (Hafsat) in hands for marriage to d Prophet. Yet u tlk of him dis way...... SUBHANALLAH

you need to fear Allah.

and there goes the problem.people were not scared of discussing whether the Prophet (s) himself could have committed sins/mistakes or been tempted by shaytan, but were made to think that shaytan was afraid of umar but not of the Prophet (s).the hadith you are referring to says that satan was in the presence of the Prophet (s) and fled away only when umar appeared.such narrations lower the status of the Prophet (s) and uplift that of umar.who is your prophet? Umar or Prophet Muhammad (s)? another sick narration relate that umar used to urge the Prophet (s) to veil his women and daughters before hijab was made compulsory in islam.such empty jokes that insults the status of the Prophet (sa) only those who have gifted their minds away believe them.

Iraqi Shia family targeted in deadly attack

An attack on a Shia Muslim family living near Baghdad has left at least 16 people dead, Iraqi officials say.

Six children and five women were among those killed when the neighbouring homes of two brothers in the town of Latifiya, 40km (25 miles) south of the capital, were targeted overnight.

A survivor said the gunmen shot anyone they saw before blowing up the houses.

Sectarian violence has surged across Iraq in recent months, reaching its highest level since 2008.

More than 800 people were killed in August alone, with Baghdad province worst affected.

Latifiya is in a religiously-mixed region that came to be known as the "Triangle of Death" at the peak of Iraq's insurgency in 2006 and 2007.

No group said it was behind the latest attack, but Sunni militants linked to al-Qaeda frequently target the country's Shia majority.

"Gunmen broke into our house overnight and shot my father four times in the head, they killed my two brothers, they killed my cousin, they were shooting everyone they saw, I escaped from the back door," one of the survivors, Haneen Mudhhir, told Reuters news agency from hospital.

Surge in violence

Separately, police said five soldiers were killed when a roadside bomb exploded beside their convoy as they passed through the town of Tarmiya, 50km (31 miles) north of Baghdad.

Five police officers were also killed when a suicide bomber attacked a local police headquarters in the northern city of Mosul, they added.

Violent incidents such as these have become a common occurrence in Iraq, with attacks every few days.

On Tuesday, at least 60 people were killed in a series of near-simultaneous car bomb attacks and shootings in several predominantly Shia districts of Baghdad.

More than 5,000 people have been killed and 12,000 injured since January, according to the United Nations.

The spike in deadly violence in recent months comes amid rising sectarian and ethnic tensions, triggered in April by an army raid on a Sunni Arab anti-government protest camp near Hawija.

The protesters were calling for the resignation of Shia Prime Minister Nouri Maliki and denouncing the authorities for allegedly targeting the minority Sunni community.

The country has also seen a spillover of violence from the conflict in Syria, where jihadist rebels linked to the Islamic State of Iraq, a Sunni militant umbrella group that includes al-Qaeda, have risen to prominence.

Syria has also exacerbated sectarian tensions, with Iraq's Shia majority largely siding with the Alawite-dominated government, and Iraq's Sunnis backing the rebels, who are drawn mostly from Syria's Sunni majority.

In recent weeks, Iraqi security forces have reportedly arrested hundreds of alleged al-Qaeda members in and around Baghdad as part of a campaign the Shia-led government is calling "Revenge for the martyrs".

But the operations, which have taken place mostly in Sunni districts, have angered the Sunni community and failed to halt the violence.

Islam for Muslims / Why Is Israel Looking For Imam Mahdi? by Rafidi: 7:43pm On Sep 03, 2013
Why Is Israel looking for Imam Mahdi?

Shabana Syed for Veterans Today

During the US occupation of Iraq it was routine to torture Iraqis in prisons like Abu Ghraib whose prison guards were using tactics learnt in Israeli training camps as Robert Fisk pointed out in ‘Abu Ghraib torture trail leads to Israel’; one of the most baffling questions asked during interrogation was “Where is the man called Imam Mahdi where is he hiding?”

According to Mohabat News a pro –Israel Iranian Christian news agency, the fear of the hidden Imam is so credible that they posted news of how the CIA and MI6 have been going to Iraq for the past 20 years to get information about imam Mahdi; how they tortured religious scholars and innocent villagers to ask question based on where the Imam was last seen? Which city? What time and when will he be coming again and in which year?

American corporate media has already shown sinister documentaries depicting the hidden messiah who is apparently advising Iranian politicians from his lofty hidden position and manoeuvring to bring about Armageddon.

So who is this Imam Mahdi that the Zionists controlling the American Congress and the international monetary system on the look- out for with orders to shoot him on sight.

Imam Mahdi is the 12th Shia Imam and according to Islamic hadiths is in ‘occultation’ or hidden and will return to earth to establish peace and justice on earth. He was born on July 29 869 in the city of Samarra, Iraq and his mother Nargis was of Roman descent.

He was kept hidden from birth till he disappeared because the rulers of the time the Abbasids knew the Prophesy of Imam Mahdi who will bring about a revolt against oppression and tyranny. The Abbasid’s knew that the prophesised one will be the son of the 11th Shia imam, Imam Al Askari.

In order to kill the child at the birth they kept a close eye on his household, even inspecting the women of the household to see who was with child.

According to the story the child’s birth and first few years were kept secret however as soon as Imam Al Askari was killed the son who was about 4 years old went into the realm of the hidden, he reappeared after a few years but disappeared again as the hunt for him gathered pace to await the ordained hour to reappear and destroy the perpetrators of evil and restore humanity.

Whether this is a fiction or non –fiction what is strange is that the same trend in the story continues till today; the oppressive rulers over a thousand years ago tried to hunt for him to kill him then and the present day oppressors are still hunting him to kill him.

Melanie Phillips the voice box for the Zionists recently on BBC Question time turned the discussion around again to the Shia Imam Mahdi hiding in Iran coming to bring about Armageddon.

In Journalist Matt Carr’s Infernal Machine blog he writes “In other words, the Iranian leadership is seeking nuclear weapons so that Iran can be destroyed and its population can all go to heaven. Not surprisingly this argument has been made by the bug-eyed Zionist zealot Melanie Phillips on numerous occasions”

Phillips writes: “As I have written over and over again, from the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei downwards the Iranian regime is dominated by people (adherents of a sect called the ‘Twelvers’) who believe that the Shia messiah, the Mahdi, will return to earth either as result of or to bring about the apocalyptic end of days”.

It is obvious the Zionists want war with Iran however what doesn’t make sense is why is the search on for a man supposed to have disappeared over a thousand years ago?

The hidden Imam has been part of Shia and Sunni Islam for centuries? And this belief is really no different than a form of Millenarianism that exists in all religions.

Christians believe that the saviour Jesus will return to fight the anti-Christ while the Jews are risking world war three by dismantling Islam’s third holiest site Masjid Al Aqsa to build the third Temple so the Jewish Messiah will return and take them to world domination.

According to sceptics and the secular trained western mind these are just biblical stories, however what is baffling is if they are just biblical stories then why is Israel looking for Imam Mahdi?

As facts emerge of this hunt then maybe we should not also dismiss the stories emerging from Iraq about what steps they have taken to look for him.

In 2006 Imam Mahdi’s father Imam Al -Askari’s tomb in Samarra which is a place that marks Imam Mahdi’s birth and disappearance was bombed by men dressed up as the security forces. The men entered the tomb, tied up the caretakers, wired up the area with bombs and according to the caretakers the security officers opened the tomb to take something from it. Many believe that they took some clothing from Imam Al -Askari’s body in an attempt to determine the DNA of the future Imam.

It’s not coincidental that Phillips and her American Zionist counterparts are fermenting fear again, this time about a ‘hidden Imam’.

Phillips is part of the network that perpetuates Islamophobia and part of the Israel first citizens whose psyche has been described aptly by David Ben Gurion, Israeli Prime Minister when he stated: “When a Jew, in America or in South Africa, talks to his Jewish companions about ‘our’ government, he means the government of Israel.”

They are part of the same network that inspired the Norwegian killer Anders Brevik who killed 77 innocent people mainly pro Palestinians supporters who were in favour of boycotting Israel.

These Israel first individuals are also part of the group that the hacker organization “Anonymous,” exposed when it said Israel had a hidden network of 30,000 covert operatives, some openly labelled “hitman,”.

Gordon Duff American political analyst and Senior Editor at Veterans Today writes in “Horror in Israel: ‘30,000 Mossad Spies Exposed” stating: “Every day we see it in the news, dozens killed in Pakistan, dozens more in Iraq, Kenya, Nigeria, the covert army of 30,000, planning terror, building a dozen car bombs a day and then being able to, not just write the lies blaming others but, in most cases, direct public officials, controlled through blackmail, threats or bribery, to “respond as directed.”

Instead of worrying about Armageddon brought on by a man who disappeared over a thousand years ago shouldn’t Phillips and the world worry about the warning given by Israeli military Historian Martin van Creveld when he said: “We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, …. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen before Israel goes under.”

For centuries the Talmud has taught that ‘Jesus the Nazarene’ “was sexually immoral, worshipped statues of stone, was cut off from the Jewish people for his wickedness, and refused to repent (Sanhedrin 107b; Sotah 47a)”.

However over the centuries through heavy funding and manipulation the Zionists managed to convince the Christians that it is Islam that is evil and needs to be counteracted through the unity of Christian/Zionists.

Most of the Christian bible belt in America has strong links with Zionists and therefore it must have been a shock to them when a Catholic Christian Hugo Chavez made a decisive speech after his momentous meeting with Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in which he states: “For us genuine Christians Jerusalem is a very holy location Prophet Jesus will come hand in hand with Hazrat Mahdi then peace will prevail all over the world”.

The fact that Chavez hinted that Muslims and Christian will unite to fight evil is something that the Zionists do not want. They have spent billions on Islamophobic think tanks and through the media to marginalise Muslims.

An interview conducted by Ann Curry on behalf of NBC with Iran President Ahmadinejad was not aired in 2009 because his answer about the hidden Imam did not support the view that they wanted to perpetuate ‘that he will bring about an apocalypse’.

President Ahmadinejad corrected her by stating: “What is being said about an apocalyptic war and – global war…… This is what the Zionists are claiming. Imam will come with logic, with culture, with science. He will come so that there is no more war. No more enmity, hatred. No more conflict…..he will return with Jesus Christ. The two will come back together. And working together, they would fill this world with love”.

The last thing Israel would want is that Christian groups should wake up and realise that the real enemy is not Islam but rather Zionism.

The fact that the Roman Catholic Church wants to turn a blind eye to the persecution of Christians in Jerusalem affirms why the founders of Israel and the House of Rothschild are in control as Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744-1812), stated: “Let me issue and control a nation’s money and I care not who writes the laws.”

If Israel is basing its policies on some biblical belief that it was their right to return to Jerusalem as the ‘chosen people’ after 2,000 years of wandering (Keeping in mind the occupiers of Palestinian lands are originally Khazars) then it shouldn’t come as surprise that its leaders believe that it is fulfilling some kind of messianic prophesy.

Jonas E .Alexis in ‘Bolshevik Purge of Western Civilization and Rational Discourse (Part II)’ writes: “If this is still unbelievable, listen to former Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin:

“My major problem is that I have no faith in the current leadership, which must lead us in an event on the scale of war with Iran or a regional war….I don’t believe in a leadership that makes decisions based on messianic feelings.”

Are these ‘Messianic feelings’ the reason why the search is on for Imam Mahdi. And if they are aware of his coming then they must also be aware of the hadith that states that “Armies carrying black flags will come from Khorassan and no power will be able to stop them and they will finally reach Baitul Maqdas (Masjid Aqsa) where they will erect their flags.”

The fact that Iran as the IAEA has revealed is not building a nuclear bomb however Israel is still pushing for war, could the reason be that the biggest supporters of the 12th Shia Imam Mahdi are in Iran and Khorassan is part of the region?

Khorassan is the north eastern province of Iran but also includes some parts of central Asia and Afghanistan.

Wherever the US and Israel has carried out wars they have used bombs containing white phosphorous, exposing the fact that wars are not about exporting democracy, but ensuring they leave a legacy of crippled and mutilated future generations unable to ever form a resistance movement.

Ten years after the start of the U.S. invasion in Iraq, doctors are witnessing an abnormally high number of cases of cancer and birth defects linked to the use of depleted uranium and white phosphorus by the US military. The current rate of birth defects for the city of Fallujah has surpassed those of Hiroshima and Nagasaki .

Leaked Afghan military documents by The Danish Daily revealed more than 1,100 instances of US-led forces having used white phosphorus (WP) grenades, rockets and bombs in residential areas in Afghanistan.

The Islamic hadiths that mentions the coming of Imam Mahdi leading an army carrying black flags also mentions that very few Arabs will support this Army siding with the tyrants.

The Arabs who will be with the Imam have already given an indication who they are, Hezbollah’s small ill equipped army defeated Israel a nuclear armed state and its state of the art weaponry; Hezbollah’s fighters may have been ill equipped but were infused with the same spirit that led Imam Ali Ibn Abu Talib to break down the impregnable doors of the Jewish fort Khaybar, the same spirit his son Imam Hussain had at Karbala where his band of 72 stood against the tyrant Yazid’s army of 10,000.

It is quite poignant that over a thousand year old hadith mentions that many Arabs will work with the tyrants to fight against the coming Imam.

Who are these Arabs? We have seen already Saudi Arabia and the Gulf rulers’ alliance with Israel and nothing has exposed this more than the Syria conflict.

Israel is pushing for war with Syria and Iran along with Saudi Arabia and Qatar funneling large sums of money and weapons to militias inside Syria, and killing Shias is part of that agenda.

Journalist Seymour Hersh in his New Yorker article, “The Redirection,” highlighted how the Bush Administration’s whole focus was to undermine Iran and to weaken Hezbollah by working with Saudi Arabia funding extremist groups “

The New World Order has manage to create brutal forces in Islam friendly to Israel, a force that thinks it is Ok to rape women and children and show decapitated bodies as trophies on you tube? This intolerant form of Islam manufactured by British agent Abdul Wahab has produced an intolerant form of Islam propagated by the Saudi regime which sees Shias rather than Israel as the enemy.

Abdallah Tamimi one of the leaders of the Free Syrian Army asked Israel for help to establish Sunni rule to oppress Shias, Christians and Druze, stressing “Israel is not our enemy we want Israel to help us”.

Saudi Arabia and Israel is also funding sectarian warfare in countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq, with an alarming numbers of Shias deaths taking place. Wikileaks US Lahore cables highlighted how Saudi Arabia is funding millions of dollars to Ahle- hadith and Islamic clerics in the region.

Shia death rate in Pakistan has escalated and even though efforts have been made at grass roots level by Sunni and Shia groups to unite to quell the killings however the future looks bloody after Nawaz Shariff who was brought into power by support of Saudi money will now allow the Saudis a free hand to do what it did in Afghanistan where it trained the Afghan youth in Saudi funded madrassas to produce the intolerant Taliban, and the intolerant Takfiris’s killing and mutilating in Syria.

It is possible that Millenarian beliefs will get stronger as the world’s leaders and rulers work with the proponents of the New World Order, dragging their nations and people into subjugation and slavery, and the only organization, the UN that was meant to protect nations and their rights is “..an illogical, unjust and completely undemocratic structure and mechanism. ….It is through abusing this improper mechanism that America and its accomplices have managed to disguise their bullying as noble concepts and impose it on the world”. Imam Khamenei

The fact that a strategy is being implemented by Israel with the support of the US to search for the hidden Imam leads one to believe that maybe there is some truth in the biblical story and in a world where we still want to believe in super heroes, it’s not so illogical if our eyes look wistfully with hope for an army that will emerge from Khorassan carrying black flags led by the prophesized one and fight against injustice.

Car bombs kill nearly 80 in Iraq, target Eid festivities

By Kareem Raheem and Ahmed Rasheed

BAGHDAD | Sat Aug 10, 2013 2:44pm EDT

(Reuters) - A series of car bombs in mainly Shi'ite areas of Baghdad killed 57 people and wounded more than 150 on Saturday, in what appeared to be coordinated attacks on people celebrating the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

The 12 separate blasts targeting markets, busy shopping streets and parks where families like to mark Eid were part of a surge in sectarian violence in Iraq since the start of the year.

This has been one of the deadliest Ramadan months in years, with regular bomb attacks killing scores of people, especially in the capital. The latest bombings were similar to attacks in Baghdad on Tuesday in which 50 died.

More than 1,000 Iraqis have been killed in July, the highest monthly death toll since 2008, according to the United Nations.

The Interior Ministry has said the country faced an "open war" fuelled by Iraq's sectarian divisions and has ramped up security in Baghdad, closing roads and sending out frequent helicopter patrols.

Eighteen months since the last U.S. troops withdrew from Iraq, Sunni Islamist militants have been regaining momentum in their insurgency against the Shi'ite-led government, and have been emboldened by the civil war in neighboring Syria.

On Saturday, the president of Iraqi Kurdistan said his region was prepared to defend Kurds living in neighboring Syria, in what appeared to be the first warning of a possible intervention and a further sign that the conflict is spilling over Syria's borders.

Outside Baghdad, a suicide bomber detonated a bomb in a car on a busy street in the town of Tuz Khurmato, 170 km (105 miles) north of the capital, killing at least 10 people and wounding 45, medical and police sources said.

Tuz Khurmato is located in a particularly violent region over which both the central government and autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan claim jurisdiction.

Police believe the bomber was trying to reach the local headquarters of a Kurdish political party, but was unable to reach the building because of increased security in the area, a police source said.

In the town of Nassiriya, 300 km (185 miles) southeast of Baghdad, twin car bombs near a park killed six people and wounded 25, police and medical sources said.

Pictures showed metal shop fronts contorted by one of the blasts, with blackened scraps of debris littering the ground. Two tires on an axle were all that was left of one of the cars used in the attack.

Car bombs also hit the Shi'ite city of Kerbala, killing four and wounding 11, and targeted a Shi'ite mosque in the northern city of Kirkuk, killing one worshipper and wounding five.

Tensions between Shi'ite, Kurdish and Sunni factions in Iraq's power-sharing government have been rising, and the renewed violence has sparked fears of a return to the sectarian slaughter of 2006-2007.

Iraqis have endured extreme violence for years, but since the since the start of 2013 the intensity of attacks on civilians has dramatically increased, reversing a trend that had seen the country grow more peaceful.

In recent months insurgents have moved beyond attacking shopping districts to targeting youths playing football and people watching matches on television at the Baghdad cafes which have dared to stay open.

PRESS RELEASE: QUDS DAY: DAY OF THE OPPRESSED

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful Peace and Blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad and his pure Progeny

Today being the last Friday of the Holy month of Ramadan, and as declared by Imam Khomeini (Q.S.) of blessed memory, is the International Quds Day in which we commemorate the seizure of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the plight of Muslims in Palestine and the oppressed globally.

It is a day set aside to remind the world the significance of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and its continued desecration by the Zionists usurpers for the past 60 years. By staging peaceful marches, making speeches and distributing press releases, we are doing exactly the same with fellow Muslims and freedom lovers worldwide. Historical texts and the Ahadith of the Prophet (SAWA) are full of numerous indications that Al-Aqsa Mosque was the first Qibla (direction) of the Muslims, and other virtues associated with the Holy mosque. Al-Aqsa Mosque and its vicinity is central pivot to Islam just like the Holy Ka’abah and Mecca.

The Holy mosque and its environs are now under the clutches of the Zionists of the illegal state of Israel. Muslims are sanctioned from worship in it, as a strategy to cripple their bond of unity. Mass massacre, demolishing of homes, target bombings and assassinations, as well as illegal detentions and imprisonments of Muslim Palestinians and non-Muslims alike by the Zionists have become the order of the day. We can never forget the series of siege on Gaza and continued bombardment of the city and its people by the illegal state of Israel. The world, Arab leaders and so called human rights groups have all kept silent to these brutal and inhumane activities. The current Peace Plan and Road Map in the Middle East is nothing short of deception and trap by the Global Arrogance ( America ) to cover up occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan , and the current intimidation other Muslim countries . The mass massacre of Muslims in Burma is another plot in that part of the world to annihilate the Muslim community for no just cause. We vehemently oppose the unjust killings of innocent people in the guise of war on terror, irrespective of their creed and belief.

The current Islamic awakening in North Africa and some Arab countries, despite attempts by the so-called Super Powers to hijack the mass movement, is a clear sign that people can no longer watch helplessly as their rights and privileges are being plundered. This is also an indication that Palestine will surely be liberated. Here in Nigeria , we are also aware of covert operation by the illegal state of Israel and U.S. , in agreement Nigeria ’s security operatives, to suppress the Islamic Movement in Nigeria under Sheikh Ibraheem Yaqoub Zakzaky(H) through various strategies. The Islamic Movement in Nigeria has been conducting Quds Day procession for about 30 years now in major cities across the country, Now that the Nigerian security system and economy is hijacked and infested by Israeli terror cell, MOSSAD, there is a grand ploy to assassinate Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Zakzaky (H) and suppress the Movementr. The current arrests, torture and detention of some selected members of the Movement, as well the ready-made script of war on terror are all part of the game plan to go for the jugular of the Islamic Movement. This has become obvious recently with the publication of series of sponsored write-ups by Nigerian Tell Magazine, The Nation, CNN World blog and JerusalemPost news site, calling for tougher action against the Islamic Movement in Nigeria and its leadership.

We therefore call on all Muslims and Non- Muslims to wake up from their deep slumber and reject any divisional tendencies by enemies of progress and unite. Let us shun all sponsored incitements and false propaganda in the name of religious sects, as well as inter-religious mistrust. This is the call of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky(H). Muslims should give top priority to the liberation of Quds and Palestine.

Peace be upon those who follow the right path.

Signed: Malam Abdul Hamid Bello, Zaria-Nigeria

Al-Quds Day demonstration in London, August 2011

Fri Aug 2, 2013 8:30M GMT

Hundreds of British nationals, including Muslims and anti-war activists, prepare to take part in the annual Al-Quds Day demonstration in London in support of the Palestinian resistance against the Zionist regime of Israel.

The demonstration, which is organized by the Quds Committee this year, will be held on Friday August, 2, at Portland Place, outside BBC Radio theatre between 3pm to 7pm.

According to Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC), the theme for this year’s demonstration will be the liberation of Palestine.

People are expected to join the event from all over the country to show their solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian nation and to voice their anger at the policies of the Israeli regime and its allies.

Many organizations, including Stop the War Coalition, the Muslim Council of Britain, Friends of Lebanon, Innovative Minds, Jews for Boycotting Israeli Goods and IHRC, will support Al-Quds Day 2013 Demonstration in London.

In August 1979, the late founder of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Khomeini declared the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day, calling on Muslims across the world to mark the annual occasion by holding street rallies.

Millions of people around the world take to the streets on this day in a show of support for the people of Palestine, demanding an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.

Thousands of Palestinians have taken to the streets in the besieged Gaza Strip to mark the International Quds Day and demand an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.

Quds Day is held annually on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan during which demonstrators call for al-Quds (Jerusalem) to be returned to the Palestinians.

Muslims in more than 80 countries, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Australia and Indonesia, have also marked the pro-Palestinian occasion.

In Iran, millions of people took to the streets across the country on Quds Day to express their anger at Israeli policies towards Palestinians and call for the liberation of Palestine.

In August 1979, the late founder of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Khomeini declared the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day, calling on Muslims across the world to mark the annual occasion by holding street rallies.

Palestinians are seeking to create an independent state on the territories of the West Bank, East al-Quds, and the Gaza Strip, and are demanding that Israel withdraw from the Palestinian territories occupied in the 1967 Six-Day War.

Ahmadinejad: Int'l Quds Day Isolates Devil Front

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad underlined the importance of participation in the International Quds Day rallies, and said the devil front was isolated in the global Quds demonstrations.

Ahmadinejad said the International Quds Day testifies efforts of mankind and the righteous to restore justice worldwide.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the International Quds Day rallies in Tehran on Friday, he said the International Quds Day marks an important day for mankind in which the camp of Satan would be God willing isolated and all virtues would govern the universe.

"Thanks God I managed to be present among the public in the 34th International Quds Day rallies, assigned by the late Imam Khomeini," Ahmadinejad said.

He said this year people have taken part in the event more gloriously than ever.

The International Quds Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of the holy Quds to Muslims.

International Quds Day is an annual event opposing Israel's occupation of Beitul-Muqaddas. Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, and especially in Iran.

Iran's Rouhani misquoted in remarks on Israel - state TV

DUBAI | Fri Aug 2, 2013 11:20pm IST

(Reuters) - Two days before his inauguration as Iran's new president, Hassan Rouhani said on Friday that Israeli occupation of Palestinian land had inflicted a "wound" on the Muslim world, according to a segment of his remarks broadcast on Iran's state-run Press TV.

An earlier report by Iran's student news agency ISNA had quoted Rouhani as saying: "The Zionist regime is a wound that has sat on the body of the Muslim world for years and needs to be removed."

ISNA later retracted the report, saying some domestic news agencies "including ISNA, had presented Mr Rouhani as saying the Zionist regime is a wound on the body of the Muslim world that needs to be removed, and this was corrected".

The original version of the report had echoed the fiercely anti-Israeli language of outgoing President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, but was swiftly repudiated by Iranian state media, which said unidentified news agencies had distorted Rouhani's remarks.

Press TV then broadcast an excerpt from an exchange between Rouhani and journalists at a rally to mark Iran's annual Al Qods Day in support of the Palestinians.

"After all, in our region there's been a wound for years on the body of the Muslim world under the shadow of the occupation of the holy land of Palestine and the beloved al-Qods (Jerusalem)," Rouhani said in the segment. ISNA later published that version of the comment.

Speaking before the ISNA retraction, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Rouhani's remarks showed the reputedly moderate Iranian cleric was as hostile to Israel as Ahmadinejad, whose denial of the Holocaust and description of Israel as a "cancerous tumour" prompted international condemnation.

The United States and its allies suspect Iran of seeking a nuclear weapons capability. Tehran says its nuclear programme is purely for peaceful purposes, but Israel regards it as a threat to its existence and refuses to rule out military action.

With a more pragmatic president in Iran, Western countries may see a better chance for diplomacy to lead to a deal to curb Tehran's uranium enrichment programme and avoid any conflict.

"The true face of Rouhani has been revealed sooner than expected. Even if they hurry to deny his words - this is what the man thinks and this is the Iranian regime's plan of action," Netanyahu said in a statement.

Rouhani's words "must awaken the world from the illusion in which part of it is placed since the Iranian elections", he declared, saying Iran still aimed "to acquire nuclear weapons in order to threaten Israel, the Middle East and world peace".

"A nation that threatens to destroy the state of Israel must not be allowed to have weapons of mass destruction," he said.

Ahmadinejad addressed Israel on Qods Day in his last speech as president. "You planted wind in our region and you will reap the storm. I swear to God that a ferocious storm is coming and it will uproot the Zionist entity," Iran's state news agency IRNA quoted him as saying.
