See my school o. Fine school, dumb and religious Igbo girls with the fashion sense of a camel, they only have Sunday wears.
Too many Onitsha people go to this school and most of them are not exposed to anything but Onitsha, the ones that come from Lagos, only few of them can speak without including Igbo in their sentence But all the same, the people who are of good quality are good enough.

Programming / Re: Data Structures And Algorithms: A Beginner's Journey. by Rafoski: 8:11pm On Jun 02, 2020
Day 01.

This morning I stayed up from 00:00 till about 2:00 trying to download the video course which was about 8 hours long and a seemingly large file. At some point, the download stopped without my notice lol. I almost lost about 400+MB to the wind. But I downloaded the video and the book all the same. Once again, the resources I make use of are a video and a book. " A Common-Sense Guide To Data Structures and Algorithms" by Jay Wengrow and a video on YouTube from freeCodeCamp.
<hr/>

What I learned today.

From the book;

A Data Structure is a way of organizing data and the most basic data structure is an array. Most data structures are used in four basic ways;
i. Reading data from the data structure
ii. Searching for data in the data structure
III. Inserting data to the structure
iv. Deleting data from the data structure.

When any of these operations are used with a data structure, we'd like to know how fast the operation is. How much time it takes.
When we measure how fast an operation is, we don't measure it terms of real life time but by how many steps it takes to complete the operation. Why? Because runtime speed differs according to hardware of different computers. A computer with more RAM and processing power would beat any computer with lower specifications in terms of time.
It is assumed that if an operation takes 3 steps to run, it'll run faster than an operation with 40 steps on all hardware. Measuring the speed of an operation is also known as measuring its time complexity.

From the video;
He talked about Abstract Data Types which are an abstraction of a data structure which provides an interface to which a data structure must adhere. What the heck is that? It's basically an abstract way to represent data structures to give them a structure of their own. We have Lists, Queues, Maps.
Big-O Notation.
He said; "Big-O Notation gives an upper bound of the complexity in the worst case, helping to quantify performance as the input size becomes arbitrarily large". Na wa o. Upper bound in layman math means the highest value of a set. So it means the highest value of the time complexity in the worst case and when the input size becomes very large(infinitesimal). phew! I'm trying to simpilfy but I know I've missed some parts of the definition but eh!

There's the constant time O(1), the Linear time O(n) et cetera. I would like to share everything but I've wasted too much time typing all these but that's today's account, if you're following the thread, do well to contribute and correct what you see as wrong. I like to keep an open mind.

You got no problem it obviously you have low ram on the laptop so it slowing down, you have two options and one choice is either you downgrade the windows 10 to 8 or get additional ram.
If you stay around ikotun i can do any of the two for you.
But the RAM big o, I have played large games on the system before 8GB Radeon.

It's like that initially. When I started the first two questions were so hard and that was warm up but now I make sure to solve at least 3 daily. It's fun.
Gbam! I'm hyped up. I'm surely going to build good habits like this.

Following diligently.

I wish to stay up and download videos too but my sleepy head is sleepy already. grin I have already started with the syntax of Javascript though. The FreeCodeCamp guy who takes Javascript is just too quick for my liking.

lol. You know, I tried JavaScript last year(I was going to be a full stack developer) but the frameworks confused me and I got tired and left web development. But I'll encourage you to just stick to the tutorial and make a list of all the syntax you have learned so far and what they do in and out of context. Then try to use them in small calculations and DOM responsiveness.

As you are reading that book, solve hackerrank daily. Start with the easy questions and slowly trump the difficulty up. You will be so amazed at how good you become in two months.
I'll make sure to check hackerrank this night too. I've tried to solve certain problems in the past on for loops and failed.lol. But I'll try again. Thanks man!

Programming / Data Structures And Algorithms: A Beginner's Journey. by Rafoski: 9:39pm On Jun 01, 2020
I stated learning Java from last year and I have held up my progress for so long because I've just been plain lazy. So, during the lockdown in my state,I had to push myself to finish the Java video tutorials I had previously downloaded. So after learning the syntax of the language, I have resolved to move to the next phase of the programming journey-Data Structures and Algorithms.

The reason for this thread is to track my journey for the next two months so I can build the habit of learning everyday and to show what I've learned at the end of each day.
P.S If you're a budding programmer like myself, do well to follow and contribute to the thread. For experienced programmers, your input will be well received.

Day 0.
The Beginning.
Tonight, I'm staying up on till midnight so I can download resources for the learning process(midnight plan). Actually, I have a few books on this topic but I saw a book recommendation today so that's the book I'm choosing; " A Common-Sense Guide To Data Structures and Algorithms" by Jay Wengrow and I'll download a video I saw on YouTube from freeCodeCamp. So, that's about it for now. I'm an absolute beginner so, if you're a beginner like me, let's learn together.

Let me add, your 5-year tuition fee in one business would crash easily because you don't know the business. Every big thing starts small. Don't make the mistake of going all in with your stakes in the business game especially if you're starting. It's good to burn your bridges and be aggressive towards achieving your goals but it's good to have that reserve money for second trial.

Personally, I'm in school because I don't have the character of a ferocious acheiver. If I was aggressive towards things, goals, I wouldn't go to school, I'd take edX courses and pluralsight courses, go online and school the shit out of myself. But I'm in school because I have not carved the habits that would take me out of school. Imagine I dropout of school, I'd still approach life with a relaxed vibe that wouldn't work for me out here in the business streets.

Plus, you can't say you go to school because of connections and stuff. The real connection is out there and not in school. You're the average of the 5 people you hang around most. You want to stay and hang around people who are looking forward to graduation and service and the labour market and get lucky? I'm not sure.

If it's in the way you'd brand your goods, it has nothing to do with your level of education. Exposure can be gotten anywhere else but school. I see people who go to school and sell wack products. Exposure is gotten from books and not a glorified institution of learning. You can better package your goods if you employ the services of a brand designer.

School is there to train you in your passions, to turn you into a professional, the average professional. Your passion determines if you will put in the extra work to becoming a master in your field.

If you're agressive enough and can approach life and goals with the attitude of a tiger, then you can dropout. But if you're like me that enjoys the slow pace and girls in college, then you can stay. Plus my course is in line with what I want to do for profession so why not remain there?

FlordFlorez:
Yes broda, it worth it. Universities and other institutions are there to train/equip u in a particular field not just for u to get job but to be able to create job(s). This is where we all get it wrong. USA and other developed countries in the world do not give jobs to all their graduates, but they simply support those they couldn't employ to create jobs for theirselves and others and the circle continues, thus reducing unemployment. The issue in Nigeria is that, so many graduates are ready to create jobs but NO government backing.
I'm afraid I disagree. The US has more opportunities than the country you're in.

The notion that "you are trained to create jobs" in the university is not true. If I can create jobs, why do I need a job? Job creators have more money than workers. I don't know where you get your ideas from but I don't think you should be exposing your shallow views on a public forum.

Yeah, these are used in perfumery. But pheromones are different especially in humans. Everyone has a unique scent that can be picked up by potential mate. You can't possibly carry an insect's pheromones and walk around (except you're Spiderman).

If you are smoking large amounts of weed, then the quality of your product must be very poor. Potent natural grown weed, with no chemicals, does NOT need to be consumed in large quantities. One single hit ( inhalation) of some seriously powerful cannabis, will send most mortals into the stratosphere for several hours, during which the astronaut will have NO desire to ingest any more.

The low quality dirt weed that is sold in Nigeria, is often contaminated with dangerous chemicals, so buyers need to exercise due diligence, to ensure that they do not inhale poisonous chemicals in a bid to get high.

The solution : Grow your own, in a secret location.
I couldn't agree more with this guy.

I remember my friend complaining to me about nausea after smoking something with low THC but high chemicals man. Then someone else smoked Colorado and complains about pain in his lungs. Man, natural indica or a hybrid does it for me. You don't need more than two/three long held drags. Plus, many people abuse this plant. You get dopamine shortage man.

I got this PC from a friend as a second buyer. HP Pavilion DV6 with beats audio.
Originally, it came with a Windows 8 Ultimate so I had to upgrade to a Windows 10. When I did this, I noticed my laptop started to hang and became so slow on startup. Sometimes, the mouse driver disappears and I'd have to reboot. This didn't happen when I used the Windows 8 package. Slow booting, occasional freezing, slow turning off, slow processing at times when I open a folder. Plus I'll need help with changing the overall case of the laptop, one hinge is slack and it spoiled.
