We are talking about foreign investments into the refineries.

No sane investors will come and put their money in those bottomless pits of corruption called refineries.

Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Raider76: 2:47pm On Dec 07, 2024
Don't know why they need to do all this propaganda and PR. Just run the refinery and let's see fuel flowing. That should speak for itself.

How about the effect of the refineries? They must have reduced demand for $ for imports despite the resistance from the cabals.

debeey87:
They have opened window for illegal stash to be brought forward legally without questions. Might be another reason the system is awash with liquidity

This time they are coming to Lagos. You know, we have a "Make Lagos Great" (MALAG) agenda.

Streetinvestor2:
And since they moved to Ghana what has improved. Dunlop is still owing me plenty school fees I used in buying it. Why are they not making money in the new place they moved.Peugeot did not leave. It was bought by alhaji and they are building a new big assembling plant in kaduna. The old one is being converted to show room

Those TRANSPOWER manipulators are at it again. Splitting a transaction of 3m shares into 31 transactions so as not to move the price.

So there's a 10k page limit? What happens after we reach that?

The software of Nairaland is long overdue for updating. Full quote is no longer the way you respond to posts. You can see one way they do it on Reddit.

You quoted this long story just to put a smiley huh
You could have just "Share" or "Like" it nah.
The rate we are using the pages of this thread is alarming these days
Small time we go exhaust the 10k pages o.

It will also make JIJO riskier but faster.

HesInMe:
People would still invest. They'll just stop investing in stupid stocks with poor liquidity. True price discovery should be the purpose of efficient capital markets. WAPCO shouldn't be stuck at 60 for days when we all know the true price is 100+. That arbitrage, or gap, allows people with access and control manipulate markets to their sole benefit.

The purpose of these controls should be to limit errors or market manipulation by traders with inside information. What other markets do is to temporarily suspend trading in stocks that move more than a given percentage, say 10%, for a given time, say 30 minutes, to allow market participants digest the news or correct the error that is moving the stock.

Will you still recommend no. 1 in view of the current relative stability of the Naira, and increasing likelihood of its strengthening?

ghm:
1. Borrow in Naira and convert to forex. My eyes opened when a friend borrowed N50m and converted to USD @ N360 to $1; he is still paying the loan in NGN while the rate has fallen as low as N1700 to $1. Some did the same with UCAP mutual funds, etc. Some people change part of the income to forex monthly, etc. Someone quoted Eco 101 earlier, but we learn different things differently in each situation, I learnt in Eco 101 that borrowers gain during inflation.
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Raider76: 4:18pm On Dec 04, 2024
Yes. The Wapco trading pattern in the last three trading sessions is consistent with smart money exit today. You have 3 days of full bids, with large volume of accumulated bids onto which smart money can dump. And you have the peak day when most of the bids were suddenly cleared. If you look at the volume chart you will see that today's volume is the highest daily volume for sometime. That is a typical smart money exit pattern. And if buyers do not have enough strength to persist you will have a pull back, or at best a flattening.

Really

I would compare the "Funds Available" before and after the trade. Take into account transaction charges.

vacanci:
my own scenario is different. i placed a bid for N77.15 and it was filled at N70.15. The price changed but the number of units remained same. so i expect to see the difference as a credit in my wallet but haven not seen it yet.

Don't be decieved, it will not be there at the end of the day.
It happened to me, My son bought Oando at N80, because he needed his money urgently and oando was on offer for
N73. I offered his on Morgan for N80,then log in into my account on Morgan and click his offer to buy at N80 per share.
To my surprise, Morgan sold to me at N80,but my son's offer was not filled.
In such a case , you know Morgan is warehousing such stock, they just filled up from their own stocks.
I COULDN'T BELIEF THAT

Not at 10% up. Only 7.8m of the 31m bid are above yesterday's closing price.

crownprince2017:
Are u sure you are monitoring the market, over 30m bids...

It's a game bro, after some profit takers drop finish it will still continue it's upward movement...it may even close on full bid today...

Don't take it personal, market is never a straight line....

Someone raised the point of this earlier I.e bringing the price down but does it really make any sense and doesn’t it break some kind of regulation? They’ll acquire majority shares and then start selling in the market to crash the price to then buy it back again? It doesn’t seem ethical
The Chinks don't have to sell to bring the price down. Immediately people see that the MTO is not imminent they will start damping. And don't forget the weaknesses of our Shareholder Associations.

Streetinvestor2:
They will since we a dealing with chinko guys. They will pay high premium once it has to do with naija because they know they will hammer. When they arrive I expect them to try buying alhaji too.Naija is a gold mine to that country. Do you know how it has pained them that our government refused importation of cement from China all this yr
Kai! Some people just like to talk. You think the Chinks don't know the value of money, and they will just spray it around? Did they pay Holcin the $1bn they asked for?

Holcin made a strategic decision to sell their African cement operations, so Alhaji will also just see money, without any strategic thinking, and decide to sell his core company?

I think people should be careful not to buy Wapco at a ridiculous price and end up losing bad. Because it didn't say the Chinks will trigger the MTO immediately. They can hold for sometime and bring the price down.

Although not stated. But from the excerpt you made above it is clear that they wanr to focus on high grow region. Nigeria appears to be the very opposite of a "high growth" region. Nigeria is very volatile at the moment.
In global trade Nigeria is a country not a region. Africa is the region. They are clearly divesting from the African region, in which Nigeria happens to be.
