On the International banking licence, its unlikely at present.
Not when they haven't raised the Capital requirement for their Present National Banking(non-interest)licence category.
Thought there was recently some capital injection from a middle eastern source to meet that capital requirement.

My question: In all of this squabble and its analysis, where does the masses come in?
We are not interested in their roforofo, we just want to buy fuel as cheap as possible.
Who will give us this? Is it what Dangote is fighting for?
The refinery was built largely from the vault of the CBN. Dangote is now denying all of that?
What is the essence of selling crude to him in naira if there is nothing in it for us - the Nigerian market?
We just want to buy fuel as cheap as possible.
I understand that everyone pursues their intest, and the interest of you and I as consumers is the price we pay for petroleum products. The only party that can control price is the Government. Unfortunately, they are saying that they have a law which has deregulated the sector and they are no longer in control of pricing. So the only option is to persuade the Government to reconsider their stand as provided for in a democracy.

lol. There are more responsible governments interested in the products. Like Ghana and Some of these neighbouring countries who have been buying from europe and smuggling products fron Nigeria, I only wonder why dangote keeps his focus on the Nigerian market. He should focus on export and see how Nigerians come beggening. Except if there is something we are not seeing.

But something tells me Dangote only seeks to monopolise the sector.
He first fought the regulators and government.
Now he is after the marketers and competition. He says no one should be allowed to import so that he will be the dominant supplier.
On the bolded, all normal countries try to protect their home industries from competing with foreign manufacturers through restricting imports. These restrictions come in forms ranging from tariffs to outright bans of imports. You will recall how Trump used tariffs on Chinese goods. On the other hand countries help their industries' exports through actions ranging from subsidizing manufacturing costs, to make production cheaper so they can sell their products cheaper in foreign markets, to outright dumping of their products cheaply abroad.

So it is only in Nigeria that somehow this logic stands on its head. Government doesn't seem to care, at least in petrol refining, if local refining is sacrificed in favour of imports. It is absurd that importers are loudly beating their chests and shouting that they can import cheaper than buying from the local refinery. Of course they can. World trade is set up like that as explained above. Nigeria is a large market. So even if Dangote cuts his price and sells at a loss there will be foreign refiners who will match him just so they don't lose the Nigerian market. You will agree with me that there is no significant local refineries besides that of Dangote. So he can only be a monopoly against imports, which normal countries actually assist their industries to be.

On top of that it is increasingly clear that there may be a strong conflict of interest that allows imports to continue despite the fact that importing keeps pressure on the value of the Naira, and inflation higher, both of which the Government is supposedly trying to fight. All this is working against the interest of the country, endangering the jobs of the Nigerians in the Dangote refinery, all in favour of a few powerful importers, foreign industry and workers.

Hello, I'm thinking if it possible for dangote to amend his agreement with NNPC? Also can dangote force NNPC to sell their stake in the refinery since it does not make any sense for nnpc to keep importing fuel whereas they have 7.2% ownership in Dangote refinery?
I think not only is NNPC (meaning the Federal Government) not interested in their 7.2% stake in the Dangote Refinery, but they are not interested in seeing the refinery itself survive. I think Alhaji better go and hire a crack team of international oil marketers to help him source global markets for his products so that he does not go bankrupt before 2027.

True. Massive reduction in outstanding loans especially the relatively more expensive ones is better than dividend payments . As it will make them grow eps faster and come out of negative equity faster.
When will they reduce loans when they are even now looking to buy refinery in TB? Where will they get the mone? CBN or NNPC?

Oando is the Apex share on the NGX. Its fan base is the largest... Liquity is super and volatility is perfect for day traders.

Just within 3hrs, the 20,000 units I bought at ₦59+ today is already up by over 15% ROI. I am good with a profit of 25% which could happen tomorrow.

These are the stocks I day-trade due to their good trading range, liquidity and volatility

1. First Bank
2. UBA
3. Oando
4. Aradel

The weekly swings is superb.
I also successfully day traded for the first time today and made 17%. Its so sweet.

That is the first time a stock was listed by introduction and retail investors had the opportunity of selling their stocks.

Check out when Mecure, Geregu and Transcorp Power were listed the shares were not available for about 2 weeks

Exit of notable shareholders who wanted to exit also contributed, that was even one of major reason why it was listed on NGX.
That is one the anomalies I have in mind.

That was my opinion when he started selling as well.
How can such volume, almost 1/6th of the whole OS be offloaded on the secondary floor! shocked

Institutional investors will be willing to pick such volume up at a good discounted rate.....instead of him selling down all the way from 850!!
To even say he's portraying the stock in bad light in front of uninformed investors self.....they might think something is wrong with the company or it's fundamentals.
This one na double chai o!

Well, that's meat for those not yet in the bus anyway....😊

Meanwhile, OANDO volume don dey decrease small small.....
May not take long before it bottomed.......
Let's keep watching it.
People just don't want to accept the notion that something abnormal happened to the pricing of Aradel at the NASD, and that is now being corrected at the NGX. People have been convinced that Aradel will catch the price of Seplat overnight.
They forgot how many years it took Seplat, plus their dual listing and low OS, to get where it is.

It could be one of the reasons for coming to NGX who knows.
Such venture capitalists don't sell on the floor. How long will it take to sell 700m shares on the floor where the average daily volume is less than 5m shares?

Please tell me why you are bullish on Aradel. Don't you think the fact that its participation with 4 other companies in the Shell assets purchase which is now stopped should make it less attractive? Don't you think also that the price at which it listed on NGX was too high to begin with?
I recall my post above on people bullish on Aradel. This was when it was above 600. I still believe it got highly over priced at NASD due to the tremendous level market sentiment created.

The issue of the uncertainty surrounding the proposed acquisition of Shell assets alone should make one cautious of the stock. Even though of recent there are indications of wavering on the part of government, probably showing the level of lobbying, and "Ejoor Sir", going on. You wonder how a regulator that withheld consent because they assessed the companies acquiring the assets as incapable of managing the assets will now say they are reconsidering. Can the companies acquire that competency overnight?

Oando's Turnover FY2023: Unaudited (Draft) Accounts vs Final Audited Accounts

When Oando's FY2023 unaudited accounts were released earlier in the year around Jun2024, the turnover was reported as N3.4trillion. However, in the final audited accounts released, the turnover was reduced to N2.98trillion.
Therefore, there is a difference of about N400billion..
If the 400bn had been recognized (or maintained) in FY2023, the profit after tax would have been N460b, all things being equal.

I am suspecting that the difference might have been reclassified as deferred or unearned income.
If this is true, then it means the N400b would be probably recognized/realized as additional income in the FY2024 accounts, thereby boosting the results and performance for 2024.

My argument is that banks are investors. Anyone who lends money to a business is an investor because their return isn’t guaranteed.

If Oando was able to raise 1.3 billion dollars, it’s clear that lenders have confidence in recovering their principal. This is basic finance.
Ok. So instead of "investors" why not we agree to use "share holders" in my earlier post.

Banks are not investors—is this the kind of objective analysis Raider76 is referring to? Ok nah.
Ahhh my friend. That was a huge effort on my part. I had to crank my brain so hard to come up with that argument.

Anyway, my understanding is that there are differences between lenders (creditors) and investors. The latter are owners while the former are not. That is why when the business fails the creditors get paid from remnants while the investors lose.

In Nigeria banks are discouraged from being investors in companies they lend to because of conflict of interest, like FBN and Honeywell. So banks were made to jettison some of their companies and divest from others. But now they seem to be coming back through the back door using Holdcos.

That’s the point—analyzing the results objectively, without bringing in biases from past failures. I analyze results here too, and I presented Oando objectively, clearly showing that the negative trends from its past may have shifted with new evidence. If you didn’t notice that, then you may be biased as well.
I don't assume or label anyone as biased. To do that will mean I have a "confirmation bias". Which means not accepting any view point that doesn't agree with my own. If I am like that then I won't be on NSEMPA. Because being here means I am looking to learn and be informed.

Why are you silent about Dangote Sugar, which you also praised and promoted here, while Oando seems to be such a big issue for you? Both companies currently have negative equity. Of course, you’re entitled to your opinion.

Some people have already made more profit on Oando, with its price moving from 10 to 80, than you have with Aradel at its current price, no be juju be that? shocked shocked shocked
You know there were people who made a lot of money in the then NSE in 2006 - 2008 on companies that didn't even have an office. Just from the euphoria and sentiment of the market. Obviously there are those who are here just to make money anyhow, and the quickest is through sentiments. But I have observed that there are also those who want to learn to professionally analyze companies and results. And it is through those later group that future professional investors may emerge. I think we should allow such people to analyze these results and learn from each other. If the sentiment people don't like what they are saying just scroll down. Others maybe learning from them.

Loans can be renegotiated, you can also get loans to service a loan
Yes. But if a company could publish an undertaking to do something 3 times and fail each time you don't expect someone to bail them out of a loan they are having difficulty paying. I mean such companies do eventually default.
