Sunrisepebble: Hearing it will be a good week for FMN. Those that jumped into Honey, what I’m hearing is that the there is a take over offer @#4.20 on the stock by the majority shareholder, this has been public information for a while. So the activity around the stock is not justified and the stock is currently trading higher than that level FMN almost going on bid |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Raider76: 11:02am On Sep 23, 2024 |
yMcy56: I think there's a difference between buyout and
merger here. Both will take different dimensions.
As for the take over you mentioned, it was actually buyout of majority shareholders at price N4.20 around 2021/2022 or so. This involves FMN buying out Honeywell majority shareholders at premium price of N4.20 when Oba Otudeko was left with no choice than to sell Honeywell.
Now if it's merger, I personally don't see the price coming at same N4.20... There's the need for us to know what FMN actually planned to do with Honeywell......
I think merger looks more like it......with Honeywell shareholders getting FMN shares in share conversion ratio....
Someone mentioned ratio 10:1 or 9:1 You also mentioned delisting and relisting
Let's see how FMN handles this Honeywell issue......hope it's sooner. Your line of thinking looks more logical. That's why I am confused with the talk of delisting of both FMN and Honeywell and what that can achieve. |

I don’t look at fundamentals until I see good Technicals in play to support it. I agree. I think in the NGX I like what I may call Myc (no offense )approach using market behavior, company information and sentiment. Then use TA to enter and exit. |

Meerahbel: Exchange rate is at 1600+ The dollarization of the Nigerian economy seems set to continue since even the government conducts business in its own country using the dollar rate as benchmark. This will be taught for the country since only the strongest economies in the world ever had their currencies gain against the dollar in the long-term. This is more so as our productivity is among the lowest in the world and our economy among the most inport dependent. I was hoping that the government will use the Dangote refinery as a semi national refinery. They supply the crude in Naira and collect the finished product and sell in Naira to the public. This means we conduct business in our country in our currency. Whatever FX loss to government this may cause should be made up by an increase in crude production and export. This will control FX linked inflation and the misery it is causing to the poor. |

The endless purchases of often distressed foreign banks and having a foreign tax heaven registered company as a major investor point to a design to take money out in my opinion. Whichever way they see it especiallycomparing the PE levels, that sector is grossly undervalued immensely. As for the bolded, don't you think recapitalization is the thing putting a damper on banks' price movements? And unless we get to a point when CBN announces an end to it or a particular bank is seen to have concluded its recapitalization the uncertainty will persist? |

OakPearl: We should have understood these people by now na. They only came to the market when they need funding that’s beyond their capacity. And when they make enough money and the future looks much brighter, they have a rethink about their existence on the NGX and delist to go private and enjoy alone. We too now have to be smarter and play the game with them accordingly. I think there should be a gov policy to make such companies list to grow the NGX, just like the Buhari gov got MTN to list. Btw did you see them declaring N300b profit? If they were listed it will be loss they declare with all sorts of excuses like FX losses. The ways companies cheat investors and escape taxes is too much. |

mikeapollo: Oando has been having issues releasing their accounts on time for several years now, so I thought you are already aware. In fact 2022 accounts was released 2024. It is not good, but that is what the market/industry has been coping with in recent times. The red flag has always been there and obvious.
You have already provided an answer to the reason why banks prepare their accounts on time .....rigorous scrutiny, timelines and heavy penalty for default imposed by CBN, SEC, etc. I am not sure if such timelines and heavy penalty is imposed by NUPRC but I agree it is not good for their corporate image and for investors I don't know when NUPRC came in as a financial regulator of listed oil companies akin to CBN with banks. Maybe it is provided for in the PIA. I noted that Oando claims to be submitting their results to the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) for vetting before release. As NUPRC came out of the controversial NNPC I am personally not comfortable with them being a financial regulator of listed oil companies. And does it mean that NCC, for example, will vet MTN and Airtel results, and NAFDAC for pharmaceutical companies, etc. I think we will just add another layer of corruption with no value added to investors. If we must let us have just one agency, like the FRC, do it. At least it is in their name and they may have the expertise. |

What is the good news for Eterna? The situation is going to be the same. Only instead of some marketers importing on behalf of NNPC it is now Dangote supplying NNPC. That "FOR NOW" they said will be "forever" as they just reestablished the status quo. People just want to create a sense of rally. If I have Eterna I will rush to damp it on Tuesday. |

mikeapollo: What is the source of this , and which officer of Oando confirned the story? This kind of report can create another needless controversy , so we should wait until there is official announcement by the company. The MD of Oando Energy Resources stated clearly in the Arise TV interview that they have no interest or plan to play in the downstream and refinery business. It appears someone just extracted a section of a 2009 Oando news release and updated it to sound current. megawealth01: By tomorrow, Sunday15.09.2024, NNPCL will start lifting pms from Dangote Refinery and sell to to marketers at N765. For now, Dangote Refinery will supply 25m liters daily while NNPCL will import the remaining 15 million liters.
By end of October, Dangote supply will rise to 35m liters while NNPCL importation reduces to 5m liters until importation is faced out completely and pms supply is 100% locally produced from Dangote and other local refineries. Oga @mega please what is the source of this? Is there a link? |
