The reason a direct link wasn't posted in the first place is because there's more to portableapps than just the antivirus, (and do you always have to be spoon fed?, whatever happened to giving a beggar a hoe rather than 20naira)to get the antivirus to work, you need the application base, there's load of free application add-ons to choose from and each user's needs might differ from the other. When you visit the site you get to browse their database and decide for yourself which add-ons you want. You get to appreciate the application more. For me i went for Clamav, Mozilla firefox, thunderbird, Filezilla,Putty and VLC. Visit www.portableapps.com

If someone in nairaland is 'smart' enough to say clamav doesn't work, then i beg to differ. You are getting for free, the same open-source antivirus application that powers a large percentage of the world's linux based enterprise gateways.

Dude if you can't figure out, how to get the application and others have, abeg stop trying to lead guys astray, check out the application for yourself guys and see if it works for you or not.

Portableapps ia a great alternative for u3 applications that comes pre-installed on U3 flash drives. Imagine being able to take your office applications and latest virus definitions with you anywhere you go.

I do not know of any other site that u can upload files to that can create a virtual file system (drive shell extension) on your computer, but they are many other sites you can upload your files which generate random urls of where these files are located so u can download at will,  the disadvantage of this is that when the sites server goes down, your files follow, they all go down to.
But the Gmail Drive Shell Extension is very safe because I suppose you understand that Google mail's server can hardly ever go down. Google have advanced beyond that.
2, When u use the GDSE, your files are stored in your email account. So it's like taking a pen drive around because u have access to your files wherver there's internet connection,

besides, I wonder Y u are lookin' for another site for uploading files when your even the one that introduced me to sendspace, or do u want tu upload your entire hard-disk to the web

My Guy; use GDSE, If u think its stressful, get back tu me - I know another tool that provides a "send to gmail" option when u right click on any file on your system. All u need tu do is right-click and select "send to Gmail" and the files are there for good,

I am surprised that AVG and Avast antivirus are rated high here. There's not much difference between them and Norton really. The true super antivirus are Kaspersky,NOD32,Avira,
For Firewall, try Zonealarm or Commodo which is free.

thanks Zozaro, someone mentioned those Antivirus softwares to me, I am about tu try them.
I hope you know there's nothing that can be compared to Norton Internet Security. It protects you from almost everthn, the prblm is that the update patch files are really large,

To use Torrent, type the name of what ur looking 4 on the search box on the top right corner of the Torrent window and hit enter, A new browser window will pop up showing torrent files available for download, the torrent file shuld nt take more than 30secs tu download, Doubl click on the torrent file and minimize the Torrent App window and continue what u were doing. U will be informed when download completes.

You need to download Linux installation files ofcrz.most of them are freeware. Altho' I have a collection of them that I got from a frend, I just use the synaptics option to add the entire cd and almost every file you open becomes supported on linux,

You may be running Ubuntu 6.06LTS that does not support most of the freewatr applications available for download. I'll advise you to upgrade to 6.10 or 7.10. Although 6.10 is not available for free, you'll need to download it from the ubuntu site as an iso. file and burn the cd image to make it bootable. I make these cds.

Press Ctrl+Shift+esc, select the applicatioon tab and type C:\windows\explorer.exe
If that dose'nt restore it, get back tu me
