You mean these Quantitative questions are difficult for you to understand?
By the way, why didn't the class teacher explain the examples to your child?

It s called "quantitative reasoning" for a reason. It is to help kids' develop the ability to decipher complex quantitative problems (for their age). If the example is explained, then we can as well just refer to the subject as "quantitative arithmetic" and do away with the "reasoning."

Foreign Affairs / Homosexuality Will Not Be Legalised Under My Presidency - Ghana's President by RandomAfrican1: 11:17am On Feb 28, 2021

President Akufo-Addo has stated categorically that Same-sex marriage will not be legalised in Ghana under his presidency.

He said this at Asante Mampong on Saturday, 27th February 2021, at the installation of the 2nd Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Ghana.

“It will not be under the presidency of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that same sex marriage will be legalized in Ghana, It will never happen in my time as president,” he said.

His comments follow the raging debate and discussions on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTI) activities in Ghana.

Former Country Director of Amnesty International Robert Akoto Amoafo for instance has descended heavily on persons whipping up what he describes as hate sentiments against LGBTI persons, insisting that nowhere in Ghana’s statutes is the orientation criminalized.

“So, when we talk about lesbians, who are lesbians? Do people understand who lesbians are? Do people understand who transgenders are? And what is the definition of these people in our laws?” he asked

“There is nowhere in the law where lesbians are criminalized.”

Romance / Being Gay Or Lesbian Is Not Demonic – Ignatius Annor by RandomAfrican1: 5:25pm On Feb 27, 2021

Ignatius Annor, a former Journalist at Metro TV who recently openly declared his sexual orientation to be gay has once again come out to clarify what he terms misconception and misinformation about same-sex relationship in the country.

Ignatius Annor who is currently a journalist with Euro News on February 23 2021 openly came out to declare he is gay in an interview when the issue of LGBTQI was heated in Ghana.

According to Mr. Annor, he has over the years denied his sexuality anytime he is confronted with it. He noted that he in the past denied being gay because of the fear of losing his journalism career.

In a recent interview, Ignatius Annor established that contrary to the notion that gays and lesbians are products of a satanic drive, they are actually welcomed by God.

He explained in the interview that members of the LGBTQ+ community are ‘normal’ people just like heterosexual men and women.

The former Metro TV journalist clarified that some persons are born gay and that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being one.

“It’s about time Ghanaian realize gay people are normal people. We are like any other person. People should understand that to be gay or lesbian is not demonic. Not everyone was born heterosexual.

“There are people who were born to be gay, it doesn’t mean we are not God’s children. It’s a narrative that has been pushed around by people who hate us,” he said.

Annor also expressed concern with reportage around the issue, bemoaning what he observes to be emotion-driven discussion on the topic.

He lamented that due to the bias and the sentiments that have dominated reportage on the issue, the real concerns of the LGBTQ+ community is not being heard.

He therefore appealed to the media to be circumspect in their reportage on the issue.

“It’s very troubling. Over the years, whenever the issue comes up, for lack of understanding, it generates unnecessary controversies that overshadows the very concerns of the LGBTQI community. We use terms that push the very concerns to the background,” Ignatius Annor stressed.

Business / Nigerian-led Calendly Raises $350M In New Funding Round by RandomAfrican1: 10:53am On Jan 31, 2021

Cloud scheduling company, Calendly which is led by Nigerian-born entrepreneur, Tope Awotona has just raised a staggering $350 million in a new funding round, sending the company’s valuation to $3 billion.

The new funding would provide liquidity for early shareholders and employees and also help the company with continued product development.

Calendly’s latest funding round was led by OpenView Venture Partners and included Iconiq Capital. According to the Atlanta Business Journal, the round was raised based on a valuation of $3 billion of the company.

The company which was founded in 2013 provides cloud-based scheduling service which aims to simplify how people connect with each other in terms of scheduled meetings. It offers its services on a freemium model – providing free access, but additional benefits are paid for. Calendly makes it easy for people to indicate their availability on a calendar so that people seeking to have meetings can pick a time slot and create a schedule with the needed details.

The Calendly platform integrates with Google, Outlook, Office 365 and iCloud calendar, this way, issues of double bookings are avoided, and it comes with automated task support which can be linked into Salesforce, GoToMeeting, Zapier and other services. The scheduling offers support for buffer times between meetings, secret event types and flexible meeting types and also adjusts for time zones.

In tandem with the growth trajectory witnessed by other cloud-based services, Calendly has seen rapid growth in its business during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the 2020 financial year, the company was able to double its revenue to $70 million, with about 10 million users across the globe. Aside individual clientele, Calendly commands some heavyweight customers like Zoom Video Communications Inc. and Twilio Inc.

The company’s CEO, Tope Awotona says that, “our profitable, unique, product-led growth model has led to Calendly becoming the most used, most integrated, most loved scheduling platforms for individuals and large enterprises alike.”

Large funding rounds for tech companies even though not an everyday occurrence, are not strange. What makes Calendly’s case a bit more peculiar is that fact that prior to this new funding, it had only raised about $550,000 over two rounds between 2014 and 2017, as such, the huge funding leap makes it news-worthy.

The earlier funding rounds were actually seed and early stage venture capital rounds, which includes money put into the company by the founder, Awotona himself. Early investors in Calendly are Greenspring Associates, Atlanta Ventures and IncWell.

Speaking on the new funding inflow, Tope Awotona says that, “while we considered outside investment an unnecessary distraction, we made the decision to partner with OpenView and Iconiq because of their insight and extended network within the tech industry.”

Controversial and outspoken Ghanaian marriage counselor, Counselor George Lutterodt has made yet another wild statement.

According to the outspoken counselor who doubles as a relationship show pundit, there is absolutely nothing wrong with sleeping with a menstruating woman.

Speaking in an interview on Angel FM, Counselor Lutterodt opined that having sex with a menstruating woman increases the chance of childbirth as some women are noted to only ovulate while they menstruate, which according to him has been proven medically.

Amid the alleged baby trafficking syndicate busted in Ghana by a combined investigation carried out by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO)and the Medical and Dental Council, a woman has come to narrate how her baby was stolen and trafficked to India.

Speaking on Angel FM’s Anopa Bofo, the lady who only identified herself as Adoley said she gave birth to a baby boy when she was in secondary school form 4.

“My child was shown to me but I was later informed that he is dead,” she narrated.

According to Adoley, she added that just after the baby was shown to her, she was given an injection that put her to sleep and so she could not realise anything that happened afterwards.

All of these happenings notwithstanding, a Man of God told her that she will find something precious which she has misplaced.

Three days later, someone called her from New Delhi in India, obtaining her contact from a nurse, and informed her that the said nurse said, it was her baby that was given to her.

She then inquired from the guardian who at this time was seventy eight years about the whereabouts of her child, to which the woman said the boy is at the university. She later had conversations with her boy and also got his child’s pictures which were sent to her by her child’s guardian mother.

Adoley is still in touch with her child who now lives in the United States of America with her Auntie because her boy’s guardian mother has passed on.

Adoley’s phoned in to narrate her story following reports that the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) had led an operation to rescue a baby who was nearly trafficked by a doctor, nurses and some social welfare workers.

Crime / Soldier Whips Taxi Driver For Not Wearing Nose Mask by RandomAfrican1: 11:00am On Jan 26, 2021

A viral video of a military man whipping a taxi driver for driving in town without a nose mask has caused a stir on the internet.

Following the outbreak of the new COVID-19 variant which has resulted in the surge in active cases across the country, president Akufo-Addo in a recent address to the nation urged Ghanaians to follow the laid down protocols to help limit the spread of the virus.

He encouraged the wearing of nose mask in public at all times. Following these directives from the president, security personnel have taken to the streets to ensure the public comply to these safety protocols.

Police officers have since arrested several individuals who have flouted the safety protocols.

Well, a taxi driver who decided to flout these safety protocols wasn’t lucky this time as a military man took matters into his own hand and flogged the disobedience out of him[ the taxi driver] for not wearing a nose.

In the video, the military man is seen ordering the taxi driver to lie on the bonnet of his car to receive the lashes.

This has caused a massive stir on the internet with some saying the punishment meted on the driver was too harsh while others say it the right punishment for people who refuse to obey the simple COVID_19 protocols.

Well, whoever thinks what, we are in hard times and the only way to contain this virus is to follow the simple laid down protocols like the wearing of face mask wherever we go.

Crime / 10 Persons Involved In Baby-selling Arrested In Ghana by RandomAfrican1: 2:53pm On Jan 21, 2021

An alleged baby trafficking syndicate has been busted by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the Medical and Dental Council after an investigation was carried out in Ghana.

According to the Executive Director of EOCO, Frank Adu Poku, the buying and selling of babies has been on the radar of the crime office for a while and has so far resulted in the arrested of at least 10 suspects.

These suspects are said to be doctors, nurses, social welfare workers, traditional birth attendants and mothers who operated in various hospitals in the Greater Accra Region.

“Medical and Dental Council and Economic and Organised Crime Office have been investigating the activities of some medical practitioners and other individuals who were suspected to be engaging in an illegal act of baby harvesting and human trafficking.

“As a result of this investigation, two doctors, four nurses, two social welfare workers, a traditional birth attendant and two mothers have been arrested so far,” he stated.

Unfortunately, medical practitioners who are entrusted with the responsibility of providing assistance to mothers and their newly born babies have gone back on their Hippocratic oaths and are selling babies as a business venture.

Mr Adu Poku recounted a transaction of a month old baby boy on December 31, 2020, by a doctor with the 37 Military Hospital.

He is said to have been arrested at his private health facility, Susan Clinic located at Latebiokoshi where he allegedly sold the baby boy for an amount of GH₵30,000.

Mr Quashie was arrested with 3 nurses who worked with his facility.

In a similar case, somewhere at the Tema General Hospital, a mother was about to be separated from her newly born baby boy forever by a medical practitioner.

Celebrities / Chimamanda Isn’t My Birth Name – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie by RandomAfrican1: 10:09am On Jan 02, 2021

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie made an appearance on the Blackbox interview hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and it was a full one.

The globally renowned Nigerian novelist mad it known that she was born as Ngozi Grace Adichie, which she later on changed to Amada Ngozi Adichie, because growing up as a Catholic, one was required at a point their lives of adopted the name of a Catholic saint – She adds that even though Amanda isn’t the name of a saint, the Priests in her church back then gave her a pass because she was insistent bearing the name since she had come across it in a novel she was then reading.

Chimamanda went by the name Amanda for all of her basic to high school level education, even through to University in the United States. She reveals that it was whiles she was schooling the the US that it dawned on her that she did not want the name Amanda as she would much rather prefer an African name, precisely an Igbo name.

She went on to toy with different versions of her name until a few months to the release of her first novel in the United Kingdom when she had a sort of “Pentecostal moment.”

“I did not want Ngozi because it appeared to be too common, ven though it has a great meaning. I much rather preferred a name I coined myself so that it becomes unique,” she said

Ebuka who was clearly flabbergasted made his shock at the revelation known. ” I always wondered which cool Igbo parent in the 70’s would name their child Chimamanda, because it was practically non-existent,” he said.

“Even in recent times, I have come across not less than six girls who bear the name Chimamanda, this is remarkable,” Ebuka remarked.

Ebuka‘s interview with Nigerian super entertainer, Falz ‘The Bahd Guy’ continues with a focus on acting and movie roles.

Ebuka asked the entertainer how e first got into acting, to which Falz recalls getting a his first call to act in a minor role after a number of his funny skits playing “Brother Taju” on Instagram had gone viral.

He revealed that the first movie role then opened several other acting roles for him, particularly the role he played in Funke Akindele‘s Jenifa Diary.

Ebuka then went on to ask him about his relationship life, ” you have been in this industry for roughly eight years and counting, and we are still unable to pinpoint you in any form of relationship, is this intentional?”

Falz laughed trying to dodge, the question, he however responded that he has not been in a committed relationship since 2008, since he was more focused on his career and has not thought it possible to mix the intricacies of committed relationship to the very demanding devotion of the entertainment industry.

The show host then went on to ask Falz about his role in the ENDSARS protests that saw million of young people across Nigeria taking to the streets to demand an end to police brutality and demand proper governance.

During his response, Falz said” since I became aware as an adult, I believe that this has been the worse Nigeran government ever. I mean, Buhari has to be begged to address the very people who put him in power… this is very shameful!”

He also mentioned the heartless massacre of young Nigerians at the Lekki toll gate on the 20th of October, 2020 by personnel of the Nigerian Military.

“How can the military kill peaceful young Nigerians who were only carrying the Nigerian flag and singing the national anthem? I mean how?” Falz said.

Celebrities / The Military Used To Take My Father Away For Months – Falz by RandomAfrican1: 12:53pm On Dec 27, 2020

Falz is the latest guest on Ebuka’s BlackBox Interviews and as expected, it was both exhilarating and captivating. Ebuka was at his usual best while Falz was an equally engaging guest (as expected).

Ebuka started off by asking the musician cum actor how 2020 has been, to which Falz answered sincerely stating that it had been a tough one, especially since there were practically no shows due to the COVID-19 restrictions. He however adds that he was lucky to have some guaranteed streams of income, such as endorsement and music streaming revenues.

Ebuka then added, “does the fact that such events can significantly affect your income make you and your colleagues worry about the kind of industry you find yourselves in?”

Falz answered saying, “if any musician tell you that he or she does not worry about that, then he or she is lying because you can wake up one day and your songs are not popping anymore.”

Falz whose real name is Folarin Falana is the son of an astute Nigerian lawyer and statesman, Barrister Femi Falana S.A.N.

Falz’s father is known to be one of the brave voices of dissent alongside the likes of Gani Fawehimi against the then authoritarian military regimes of Nigeria, spanning the 1980’s and 1990’s. The musician in this interview reveals that growing up, his dad was taken away from home many times by various military men from the government, for weeks and sometimes even months, but he did not fully comprehend the situation as he was then still very much an oblivious child.

He adds that there were many occasions where their mother had to twist the story of their dad’s absence by telling them that he had travelled. “It wasn’t until secondary school, that the gravity of my dad’s precarious situation begin to dawn on me,” he said.

Celebrities / Burna Boy Cheats On Stefflon Don With A Young Girl by RandomAfrican1: 3:56am On Dec 03, 2020

Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy is allegedly cheating on his girlfriend Stefflon Don with a 23-year-old girl Jo Peal claimed that she and the singer had been secretly dating for two years.

Burna Boy has been in an open relationship with Stefflon Don, the 28-year-old British rapper since early 2019.

But, Pearl claimed that she has been in a relationship with the Afrobeats star in the past two years.

“Two years is such a long time for a person to be hidden,” she said in the video on Instagram.
“It has affected me in so many ways, and I can’t hold it any more to protect people that wouldn’t protect me.”

She made this claim via her Instagram account.

“I feel like what he made me feel like when I met him made me feel like love at first sight. He just gravitated towards me, he was very sweet,” she said.

“His words actually worth his action. Not only will he tell me like he loves me, and other personal things, he actually showed me,” she also said.

Jo Pearl claimed that she moved in with Burna Boy in his London home and that they hanged out together a lot.

“This is somebody that wanted me around; this is somebody who I basically moved in with.”

“He was a breath of fresh air,” she added.

Everything was fine before Burna travelled to Nigeria in November, prior to the busy Christmas schedule.

While in Nigeria, Burna Boy called her every day until mid-December when she couldn’t contact the singer for two weeks.
He eventually called to reassure her of his love, claiming he was hospitalized.

“He would tell me ‘I don’t know what this is that we got going on, but I like it, you are going to be my wife, I’m going to marry you. We are going to have twins; you are my sweet Salon Jollof’,” Pearl said.

Things changed that December and she wished to travel to Nigeria to be with Burna but it was against the wish of his people because according to him she ‘makes him don’t want to do anything’.

Burna Boy and Stefflon Don became open about their relationship in early 2019.
His relationship with Jo Pearl got shaky after a disagreement that December and at the end of the next month, Pearl began to hear of Burna’s relationship with Stefflon Don.

“I literally collapsed and cried for days, probably even weeks,” she said.

“I feel like the thing that hurt me the most is that from the first day I met him, he always emphasized how much he just loved black women, African women. He made me feel so good to the point; I cut my hair just recently.

Pearl said they never talked about the other relationship and they just continued “For the past two years we have never stopped seeing each other,” she also said.

“It’s just been like the elephant in the room that we choose not to discuss and we just go about things like it doesn’t exist.
“I just was in love, and I have been in love for two years, and I have been seeing him for two years; I’ve just always been in the background.”
“In the past two years, he has never mentioned the person I see him with on social media to my face. That person never gets acknowledged, it’s like she doesn’t exist in our world,” she also said.

“D, I’m just tired of protecting you,” she said, addressing Burna Boy. “I’ve got feelings too, seeing you in secret for two years has been detrimental to my mental state. It’s my choice, but you guys will never understand what it is to be in my shoes.”
“I didn’t do this video to hurt you. I know it will hurt you because as far as you are concerned, me and you are on good terms but I can’t do this anymore.

“I’m not doing this for clout, I’ve been very private for two years, I’m not doing this for money because financially I have been so stable, working and having someone provide for me , so I’m simply doing this because I’m about to burst and mentally I feel like I am in a bad place.”

The host of the show asked him if he paid any money to have these high level American artiste do a feature with him, to which he responded that “No, it was all down to relationship building.”

He disclosed that in the past [like four years ago] he sued to pay these American acts for collaborations, but from experience, he realized that it was better to have a relationship and flow naturally than having a synthetic collaboration.
