BBNaija Reality TV star, Ozoemena Joseph Ozo Chukwu was yesterday unveiled as the brand manager for the Italian Serie A club Juventus‘ Academy in Nigeria.

During his stay in the Reality House, Ozo made it known to fellow housemates and viewers that he was enthusiastic about sports, having gone on to secure a Master Degree in Sports Management, it is therefore not surprising to see him making moves in the sports industry with Super Sports Broadcasting, the Nigerian Sports Ministry and now with Serie A side, Juventus.

The Mayor of Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe, Mr. Herbert Gomba, has been arrested over charges of corruption, according to local media reports on Wednesday.

Mr. Gomba was reportedly taken into custody by the country’s Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday night and was taken to court on Wednesday, according to news website Zim Morning Post.

The charges tabled against the mayor is mainly focused on criminal abuse of office in connection with a massive land scam that has led to the arrest of several public officials over recent weeks, including city council officials, police officers, and a prosecutor.

It is believed that the Mayor was a key person in the corrupt deal as he helped in facilitating the illegal sale of land by approving fraudulent layout plans. This singular action of his has allegedly caused heavy financial losses to the Harare City Council, according to the report.

Edgar Dzehonye, a senior officer in the council’s housing department, who was earlier this week fingered as a co-conspirator has also been arrested and is being kept in custody.

The much anticipated ‘Hip Hop’ music video from Laycon has been finally released and as expected, it is already causing waves.

Hip Hop is one of the song’s on Laycon’s ‘Who is Laycon‘ EP which took off to become a multi-platinum selling project during and after the musician’s stay in the Big Brother Naija Season 5 house.

There are a number of songs from Laycon that have gone on to become hits due to the exposure he got from the BBNaija reality TV show, and the song ‘Hip Hop’ is one of them. It is a combination of Laycon’s rap dexterity with Deshinor’s vocal prowess.

There was a surprise guest cameo by fellow BBNaija Season 5 housemate, Neo Akpofure as he is seen dancing ‘Zanku’ and ‘Leg Work’ in the video.

A number of people would be somewhat disappointed that Laycon’s dance partner in the house, Nengi, did not make an experience as many would have loved – this however does not take anything away from the beauty of the video.

FIFA, the governing body for the global sports of football has handed the sitting CAF President Ahmad Ahmad a five year ban for apparent financial misconduct.

The statement by FIFA reveals that Mr. Ahmad Ahmad had been under investigation for some time now and has been charged for breaching 4 acts of the FIFA code of conduct.

The investigation by FIFA Ethics Committee covered the period between 2017 and 2019, into some supposed irregularities concerning CAF- related governance issues.

According to the statement by the football governing body, the CAF President has been charged for a number of governance issues including the use CAF funds to finance an Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca for 15 African FA presidents.

The FIFA Adjudicatory chamber, after extensive hearing, finalized a ruling that the conduct of the CAF President was tantamount to breaches of his duty of loyalty, offered gifts and other benefits, coupled with the mismanagement of funds. It also concluded that Mr. Ahmad abused his position at CAF President, pursuant to the FIFA Code of Ethics.

The decision of the chamber is set to be made known to Mr. Ahmad in the next 60 days, per act 78 par 2 of the FIFA Code of Ethics.

Nigerian business mogul, Femi Otedola, has jokingly posed a question to his daughter, Temi Otedola and her boyfriend, Mr. Eazi, asking them when they intend to eventually get married to her boyfriend.

Femi Otedola dropped the post in the form of a question after his daughter, Temi shared a lovely photo of herself and her boo on Instagram to announce their upcoming podcast project.

Commenting on the photo, Femi Otedola wrote: “Moremii..When una go marry?” in Pidgin English which translates to mean “Moremi, when will you guys get married?”

The third part of Ebuka‘s interview with Tiwa Savage and this time it largely dwelt on her being a mom (and a single one at that) and how she has been handling it so graciously.

The musician also went on to reveal that she is very open to having another child either through surrogacy or adoption.

Whilst speaking to Ebuka, the “Koroba” crooner explained that she does not want her son Jamil to be an only child and she feels that he ideally needs siblings.

She also indicated that she is reluctant to go through the challenges that come with bearing a child in her womb thus her interest in surrogacy, Tiwa said.

In a video recently sighted by Africa At Random, Davido is seen flying straight to IceBox shop in Atlanta Georgia, USA from Nigeria in his private jet.

In the video, a rep from IceBox is seen joining the musician and his crew in the jet. The long awaited video to the ICONs ‘Nobody’ remix by Laycon, DJ Neptune and Joeboy has been finally premiered.

The audio of the song had been in circulation for months now, in fact it was recorded just a few days after Laycon won the BBNaija Season5 show.

Many had been anticipating this vide for a while now but the release date kept getting pushed back, and it was finally released in the early hours of 15th November, 2020.

It is a colourful video which compliments the song which is set to be a chart-topper. The song a remix to the original which also involved Joeboy, DJ Neptune and then Mr. Eazi.

Davido released his third studio album, ‘A Better Time’ (ABT) in the wee hours of the 12th of November after a long wait, and this piece would be doing an objective and in-depth review of the project.

It is yet another notable album release period and as I sometimes do, I will be reviewing this one because I personally feel that it needs to be examined, especially due to some ongoing conversation around the project in the social media space.

Davido is known to consistently divide opinions of both critics and lovers, and this album project is no exception.

As I always say with my album reviews, it is mostly my opinion, but then again, due to my interest and experience in the music industry, I believe that I have earned the cred to carry out an objective review of music projects in general.

Now let’s dive in;

Track 1 – FEM

This song was released almost two months before the entire album project was made available, and it is already a global hit. The video to this song is already northwards of 13 million views and a cumulative of over 30 million streams on music platforms. This song has been a party choice for many people and it even appeared to be one of the theme songs for the recent #EndSARS protests that rocked Nigeria. There are also rumours that some parts of the song was directed at Burna Boy – but this remains alleged.

Track 2 – Jowo

The second track on the ‘A Better Time’ album is quality – Davido changes his style has appeals a bit more to the emotions of listeners. The title of the song ‘jowo’ means ‘please’ in the musician’s native Yoruba language. The artiste is here seen pleading with his supposed heartthrob to not pay mind to external talks because those are voices of detractors who are trying to get between them. He asks his girl to remain with him – it is more of an “us against the world” kinda song. At a point in the song, Davido surprises our ears with some melodious Hausa language where he says “Amina zo mana… Amina mutumina.” The instrumentals on this track is just sweet.

Davido yesterday had a sit down session with Bolanle Olukanni of ‘The Juice’ show on Ndani TV where he dropped a lot of soundbite worthy moments.

The Afrobeats crooner as expected touched on his new 17-tracked ‘A Better Time’ album which features many music heavyweights dropping tomorrow. He talked about what went into making the album and how the Corona virus pandemic changed the process through which he makes music.

Davido also discussed other things asides his upcoming album and music life, even though at a point in the interview, he made it known that he believes that he is the biggest artist in Nigeria at the moment.

The musician talks about how frosty his relationship with his dad was during his teenage years, but he says they have grown to understand each other now and are closer than ever before. He also talked about the fact that he wishes his mom was alive to see how big he had become in the music industry.

The musician who will be 28 years soon, was then asked about where he sees himself at the age of 40. He stated that by 40, he would be into other business and in fact, he plans to retire from music by age 31 at most.

The two reality TV stars inked the deal worth several hundred thousands of dollars yesterday in Lagos. The two took to their social media platforms to announce the deal.

The second part of Ebuka‘s interview with star songstress Tiwa Savage is as breathe-taking as the first part. She discussed a number of issues and it does not see as though the interview has been exhausted even with the part two, so we are probably to expect a part three.

During the interview, Tiwa spoke about the challenges of her marriage with Tee Bills and how it ended. She also mentons that she and her ex husband are now in a cordial place with no animosity.

She touched on the challenges she faced when trying to enter the industry and the challenges she is still facing as a female artist in the male-dominated field.

Ebuka asked her about what made her leave Don Jazzy‘s Mavin records, to which she said it was a mutual agreement and that she though that it was time for her to fly off on her own and try new stuff. She admits that the decision scared her, but she believed that it was something she had to do for herself.

When quizzed about the “supposed beef” she has with female female musician Yemi Alade, she says that she sincerely does not know where it comes from and believes that it is simply as a result of fans pitching them against each other. She confirms that Yemi and herself are in a good place now and she hopes that they can develop a stronger friendship.

She goes on to state that she intends actively pursuing a collaboration with Yemi Alade, and hopefully it would be a banger.

Media reports are that more than 50 people have been beheaded in northern Mozambique by militant Islamists.

The reports say that the militants converted a football pitch in a village into an “execution ground”, where they undertook the decapitations and also chopped up some of the dead people.

Unconfirmed reports by the state media say that the beheadings took place in at least two nearby villages.

These beheading atrocities are the latest in a series of gruesome attacks carried out by the Islamist militants in the gas-rich province of Cabo Delgado since 2017.

To date, almost 2,000 killings have been recorded with about 430,000 being rendered homeless.

The militant group are suspected to be linked to the Islamic State (IS) group, giving it a foothold in the southern African country.

The group has exploited the high levels of poverty and unemployment in the region to recruit young people into their fold, so that they fight to establish Islamic rule in the province.

Majority of the locals have been vocal about the insignificant benefits they have derived from the province’s ruby and natural gas industries.

The latest attack has been the most devastating, leaving most people shocked as they are now calling for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

According to reports by state-owned Mozambique News Agency, witnesses say that the gunmen were heard chanting “Allahu Akbar” (“God is greatest”, in English), as they fired shots, and set homes ablaze as they raided a village called Nanjaba on Friday night.

Two people were beheaded in the village and several women abducted, the news agency added.

A separate group of militants also carried out another devastating attack on Muatide village, where they more than 50 people have been reported to have been beheaded by the state news agency.

The militants caught villagers who tried to flee the violence and had them taken to the local football pitch where they were beheaded and their bodies chopped to pieces. The atrocities are reported to have taken place between Friday night and Sunday.

Mozambique’s government has appealed for international help to curb the insurgency, saying its troops need specialised training.

Earlier in April this year, in excess of 50 people were beheaded or shot dead during an attack on a village in Cabo Delgado and earlier this month, nine people were reported to have been again beheaded in the same province.

Former Cameroon international, Samuel Eto’o, is reported to have been hospitalized after he getting involved in a road crash around the Nkongsamba-Douala road in Cameroon.

Eto’o was returning from a friend’s wedding when his vehicle was hit by public transport on Sunday morning.

Although his car was badly damaged, the former Barcelona and Inter Milan player survived. He has rescued and immediately taken to a hospital where he is reported to be in a stable condition.

“The crushed car Samuel Eto’o was in. I can confirm that he is fine, we spoke again. Doctors taking care of additional examinations,” Martin Camus, a Cameroonian journalist tweeted.

The opposition leader and former prime minister Pascal Affi N’Guessan in Ivory Coast, is reported to have been arrested for creating a rival government after Alassane Ouattara highly disputed victory in a recently held election.

The Ivorian government machinery has been set in motion to pursue terrorism charges against a number of opposition leaders who boycotted the 31st October elections in which Ouattara had been said to have won and which turns out to be a highly problematic third term bid for a section of the Ivorian population.

The standoff between opposing political camps has raised fears of impending instability in the world’s top cocoa producer, whose disputed 2010 presidential election led to a brief civil war where about 3,000 people died. This disputed elections has seen pockets of violence across the country, with more than 40 people have dead so far.

N’Guessan was arrested overnight, this is after the public prosecutor announced on Friday that the former prime minister was being sought by the police.

N’Guessan’s wife said that, “I confirm that my husband was arrested during the night, but I don’t know where he is right now.”

Geneviève Goëtzinger, a spokeswoman for N’Guessan, posted on Twitter stating that his boss was arrested in the south-eastern town of Akoupé while en route to his home town, Bongouanou.

Tiwa Savage is the latest guest on Ebuka’s BlackBoxInterview show and it was a fully-loaded episode, and this is just the first part.

Ebuka was at his optimal as usual, throwing the right questions in a way that got the best and most intriguing responses from his guest.

A number of people are reported to have died in election-day violence that occurred various parts of Ivory Coast, officials said on Sunday, as polling stations began sending voting tallies to the electoral commission.

The mayor of the town of Tiebissou is reported to have said that four people were killed and 27 injured by bullets and machetes when some armed men came into the town and fired shots at people.

Reports also say that one person was killed in the pro-Bedie town of Niable – this was anonymously made known by a government official.

Opposition leaders who boycotted Saturday’s election say about a dozen people died, if not more.

It has been reported that more than 20 others had been killed some days to the vote as a result of violent protests, human rights groups said.

Alassane Ouattara‘s opponents are of the view that the sitting he is breaking the law by running again for a third term as the constitution limits presidential terms to two. The way things are playing out, there are glaring risks of the fragile peace holding the country together to get shattered.

The Ouattara who is currently 78 years old, holds a view that he qualifies to run again under a new constitution, because the said constitution was approved only in 2016 which means that he believes that his previous terms as president are now null and void.

Critics say the election outcome was all but predetermined as 40 of the 44 candidates seeking to challenge him were disqualified, including exiled former rebel chief Guillaume Soro and Gbagbo.

Two of Ouattara three remaining opponents — Pascal Affi N’Guessan and Henri Konan Bedie, decided to boycott the elections and directed their supporters to stay home too and not vote.

Henri Konan Bedie, whose rivalry with Ouattara has marked Ivorian politics for three decades, also called for a boycott and a campaign of civil disobedience to halt or disrupt the election.

The leaders of the opposition went a step further o Sunday and asked for a “civil transition,” since according to them, Ouattara’s aspirations to still stay in power are illegal.

“Opposition parties and political groups call for the start of a civil transition,” opposition leader Pascal Affi N’Guessan told reporters.
