Well it depends on some variables like

How big is your house
How big is your wallet
What will be their usefulness
Above all,how is their character(I lay down the rules and if you repeatedly flout 'em,you take a hike back to Delta State)

Personally,I don't mind.I've got a big house and I'm not doing badly, and come to think of it,it's not like they're going to be in the house 24hrs in a day for 365days.
In most cases, sooner than later, they'll have to go back to school and before you know it,they're through.
It's only after youth service that I'll settle each of them with a room self contained apartment  grin grin grin grin. They'll do their job hunting from there.

The current squad is neither strong enough nor experienced enough. So that is why we need experienced players who have won leagues and cups and who have experience of the big games.

Good, young and fast players are what the club needs - the likes of Franck Ribery, David Villa,Mexes and Jan-Klaas Huntelaar are just a few that readily come to mind.Plus a good keeper and an excellent CB.

Arsene Wenger has some spending to do if Arsenal are serious about winning a trophy next season. Bright, young players with interesting prospects are one thing, but we really need players who are at their peak who can contribute in a positive way.

To lose Hleb and Flamini @ one go,that would be devastating to say the least, especially with a gaffer as  indecisive AW when it comes to buying quality players.
He'll be there foot-dragging and his rivals will be plucking up his targets(that's if he sincerely has any)
Now Modric has joined our next door rivals;spurs.Huntelaar is almost certain to be snatched by manscum.
There's still little time to be decisive about mexes,Villa etc and I dare say time for an upward review of Fab4's wages. But will AW listen,I wonder what hold he has on the board

Ibori, wife convicted of theft — UK Police
By Oscarline Onwuemenyi, Abuja
Published: Thursday, 17 Jan 2008
Fresh facts emerged on Wednesday that a former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, and his wife, Nkoyo, were convicted for theft in the United Kingdom, 18 years ago.

In another instance, Ibori was also convicted for credit card fraud and for handling stolen goods.
According to court documents sent from the UK to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and obtained by our correspondent in Abuja, Ibori had been charged for theft in the UK, alongside his then girlfriend, Miss Theresa Nkoyo Nakanda.
Ibori, who was working as a cashier at Wickes Store, in Ruslip, London, in 1990, had allowed his girlfriend to pass through his check without paying for the goods she collected.
He was said to have proceeded to dispose of the till receipts in order to cover up the theft.
Both were charged with one-count of theft under Section 1 of the Theft Act 1968, of the UK, and fined £300 British sterling and ordered to pay £450 as costs.
A signed statement by a British police officer, Mr. DC John McDonald, who arrested Nkoyo Ibori in 2007, on suspicion of being involved in money laundering, stated that the EFCC had requested the documents concerning two previous convictions held on record in the UK, for prosecuting their case against Ibori.
Mcdonald stated, “On November 1, 2007 at 2050 hours, I arrested Mrs. Theresa Nkoyo Ibori at the Heathrow Airport on suspicion of being concerned in money laundering. She was later conveyed to the Police Station at Heathrow Airport.
“During the procedure of booking in Mrs. Ibori at the police station, it is routine to obtain copy of her fingerprints, these fingerprints are obtained on the computer-based National Automated Fingerprints Identification System.”
McDonald noted that should the fingerprints obtained match with any already held on police national fingerprint database, then a report would be produced in due course.
“As a result of Mrs. Ibori’s fingerprints being taken, a report was produced stating that the fingerprints were an exact match to a set of fingerprints held for an individual, Theresa Nakanda, under the Police reference number 134269/90F,” the statement read.
The documents made available exclusively to The Punch, further stated that the prints were obtained on August 28, 1990, at Uxbridge Police Station, adding that Nakanda was Mrs. Ibori’s maiden name.
Continuing, it confirmed that Ibori was on February 7, 1992 at the Isleworth Crown Court in the UK, convicted of one-count of handling stolen goods.
“The circumstances of that charge relate to Mr. Ibori’s possession of a stolen American Express Card belonging to another knowing or believing that card to be stolen,” it added.
It noted that the original arrest for that offence took place on September 12, 1991 at Euston Rail Station, stressing that Ibori was fined £100 and ordered to pay £50 as costs.
“During the procedure following the arrest, Ibori provided the address of 3, Atherstone Road, Harrow, Middlesex.
“I can confirm that as a result of documentation in my possession that James Ibori and Miss Theresa Nakanda once owned this property,” McDonald added.
Ibori is currently standing trial on a 129-count charge of corruption, money laundering and abuse of office, instituted by the EFCC.
The Kaduna Division of the Federal High Court, presided over by Justice Mohammed Lawal Shuaibu, on Tuesday, fixed January 31, 2008, for ruling on the bail application filed by the former governor.
The EFCC had argued against granting him bail, emphasising that because of his status as an ex-convict and his enormous influence as a former governor, Ibori would

Kit you want to kill me with these your words - ZAKILISM huh grin grin

Truth be told, I'm not to crazy about Kolo being captain either, he really hasn't shown that kind of discipline/form, he's been just as bad as Gallas IMO.

Gallas did lose the plot and dropped form as well, but Kolo is as much to blame as WG.

If anyone should be captain, I'd pick someone like Flamini, if he stays that is. He's aggressive, determined and plays his heart and soul out - best thing is that since he's French, he'll feel completely at home at Arsenal.

Him aside, I would not want to burden Cesc with the captaincy, except as an extra motivation to extend his current deal which has 6 years left on it.

Has anyone read from Myles Palmer of ANR recently? He had an interesting take on a supposed 'hitlist' for the summer

The three players on Wenger's 'hitlist' if you believe it are Albiol (CB, 22 Valencia), Huntelaar (F, Ajax) and some Aaron dude (MF, 17, Cardiff) huh undecided

Albiol is a skilled 6'2'' CB who is young and is in a team at the wrong end of the table, but still quality, so we could get him, Huntelaar will be tougher though, and more expensive probably, and I really don't know about this dude Aaron.

If we got the striker and CB, and Hleb and Flamini stay, EBOUE angry angry angry gets his leg broken against Sunderland then I'd be happy about next season.

The player I've been most disappointed in (except MOFO EBOUE of course angry) is Denilson - so much potential at the end of last season, but I think he was hanging out too much with Rozzi and bit the injury bug - if we had him fit, we could've given Flamini/Cesc more of a rest than they got.

On the issue of T14, even AW refused to say never, but I don't really see him ever coming back, that would just be crazy - Wenger would be STUPID to try it, too expensive, poor fitness. . .it would be like taking on another Rozzi or RVP into the team, and we definitely have enough of them,

i agree with eldee - Kolo is not captaincy material IMO, but Cesc captain now? maybe thats too much load for the guy to carry, at least not at 20, give him 2 years more at least.

In a team like Utd, the captain role is not really crucial, they've virtually played two whole seasons without their captain playing a game, Stevie G leads by example, his work rate and commitment are next to none, so was JT in his prime - but now that he can't jump, you can see his poor performances of late.

My view? keep flamini and make him captain after next season, for now we can keep it with Gallas and bear with him, I'm sure he'll be much better next time around.

I agree with you on Kolo(who did not impress me this season, especially after ACN,as his waist is yet to heal) and Gallas(though he performed below my expectation),who I think should be allowed to retain the captaincy.

Fab4 has enough time till he becomes captain

@ Lucrabasi

I'm neither a policemen nor in law enforcement, just a "concerned citizen".

If you take a careful look @ the few scenarios I mentioned above, you'll discover that in about 80% of the cases, the victims took some basic security routines for granted.

Safety is of God,as the watchman will watch in vain if God does not watch the city. However God does not want us to be ignorant of the devices of robbers who really are agents of the devil,so read on.

There are a lot of estates, mini estates and blocks of flat with their own localised forms of security network, both on the island and mainland, but people should fashion out their own security plans and let those plans always be in their minds.

Before moving into an apartment in a particular area, you'll have to inspect the property right?this is when you should start, look for those maiguards within the neighbourhood and sound them out.Befriend them and find out from them how the area is generally security-wise,if they've ever experienced cases of robbery (armed or otherwise),if yes,how frequently and look out for a common M.O,as in does it follow a particular pattern.

If they've not recorded any or they've recorded isolated cases and you plan to move in,inquire about your neighbours-to -be,who they are, what they do for their living etc (we've heard of cases in which some landlords led robbers,I mean brought robbers to rob their tenants, same goes for tenants too),if they're okay by your assessment and you decide to move in,CHANGE ALL YOUR ENTRY and EXIT DOORS to steel doors will peepholes(I prefer the ones with tiny mag lenses for obvious reasons).Make sure your doors have multi locks to make them more difficult to open with master keys, allen keys(aka ashewo key),and steel lock chains/steel bolts to lock the doors from within may also be introduced.
If your security man/maiguard does not have a phone, get him one and give him clear instructions, some maiguards have tipped off their bosses about suspicious characters in their neighbourhood, the bosses in turn put calls through to the apt qtrs and bingo, the subsequent surprise raid yielded the arrest of prospective robbers who were actually "casing a joint".
Have unique codes that will alert your security man of your impending arrival so he ensures that you don't need to press your vehicle horn for him to open the gate and for him to make sure that when he opens the gate for you,no uninvited guests drive in after you.Be conscious of your surrounding as you approach home.Check out every body/every vehicle, watch you rear view.

Then, get in touch with the nearest police station/RRS,get to know some key personnel there like the OC surveillance or even the DPO,introduce yourself and tell them you just moved into the area and that you were informed of how they've been assisting residents in the area hence you will like to have the same assistance from them, exchange numbers.Once in a while I normally arrange something for the boys. With this they'll extend their surveillance to your area (both day and night),and should you have any reason to call on them,be sure to get a response.

Since you won't be staying indoors perpetually, don't be a creature of habit, viz don't be predictable, use alternative routes for your shopping, going to/returning from work, club, spa or general outing. At night, always watch your rear view,if you feel a car has been following you for a while form the habit of detouring to shake them off.You could get to a round about and turn round twice,of course if the car turns with you, then you drive staright to the nearest police station after making a call to RRS (YES WHILE DRIVING).

Hope the above will be useful, but there are some other tips that we will share when time permits

Have a blessed weekend

Anyway I can see most posters are just guessing and from the look of things a lot of us are unaware of the frequency and M.O of robberies in Lagos.
So I'll just supply the following records from my security diary(I get regular briefs somwhow)

February 14, 2008
On February 14, 2008, at approximately 22.30 hrs, a private house located on Sinari Daranijo Street, Victoria Island (Behind Zenith Bank on Ajose Adeogun Street) was attacked by four armed robbers who over-powered the single security guard on duty.  They forced the occupants to lay on the floor and systematically ransacked the house.  There were no injuries as the occupants did not resist.

February 15, 2008
On February 15, 2008 at about 1500 hours, 2 armed robbers ridding an Okada (Motorcycle) forced their way into a private residence located on Bourdillon/Falomo road (Near the French Embassy) and robbed the owner of Two Million Naira.  There was no police response when called, however no injury was reported.

Sunday February 17, 2008
At about 2220 hours, an expat's rented property on Raymond Njoku (off Awolowo Road , Ikoyi) was attacked by armed robbers.  Five armed men gained entry by closely tailgating a company car and escort vehicle (using a blue coloured Toyota Avensis, Reg. No. BB571KKA) when the expat arrived from a trip that evening.
The escort vehicle had broken off to accompany another company vehicle to a separate location, leaving the targeted vehicle to drive alone from Kingsway Road to Raymond Njoku via Falomo Roundabout.
It is believed that the robbers had followed the target vehicle from the Dolphin Estate area, where it was reported that there had been an earlier robbery.  Fortunately, no shots were fired and no one was hurt.  However, two visitors and a resident had their luggage, phones, wallets, watches, jewelry, shoes etc. stolen.

Lekki - February 18, 2008
At about 02.00 hours, four armed robbers forced their way into a residence in NICON town, Jakande Estate.  All the occupants of the house were locked up in one room and the robbers removed jewelry, phones and money.  It was reported that no one was injured apart from a woman who was struck on the head with a weapon.  RRF team were dispatched to assist local police, who late located the robbers attempting to rob another house in the estate.  Shots were exchanged, however the robbers managed to escape by boat.

February 19, 2008.
On February 19, 2008 at about 22.30 hours, Hotel La Coeur, 27c Glover Road Ikoyi was robbed.  About 10 persons (Guards and Hotel staff) were locked up in a room while the two Mobile Policemen on duty at the entrance were shot dead.  After the robbers had taken money and other valuables from inside the hotel, they attacked an female expatriate  who just arrived in a taxi.  All her valuables were taken.

Wednesday February 21, 2008
At about 20.15 hours, a vehicle was hijacked and No. 3A Ojora Road , Ikoyi was robbed.  It was reported that a gang of 4 armed robbers, driving in a red Toyota Corolla, gained access into the compound by tailgating the resident's vehicle a VW Touareg, while the guards opened the gate.  On entering the compound, two of the robbers forced the two security guards to lay on the ground while the other two robbed the two female occupants of the vehicle of their personal belongings.  The robbers then drove both vehicles out of the compound.  No gun was fired and no injury reported.

Saturday February 23, 2008
At approximately 22.40 hours, armed robbers attacked No. 3/4, 1st Avenue , Ikoyi.  It was reported that a gang of 4 armed men, driving a 4x4 vehicle blocked a vehicle at the gate of the compound and robbed the occupants of their personal belongings.  No attempt was made to steal the vehicle; no gun shots and no injury recorded. etc.

There were also reported cases of an expat who was robbed at the Glover/Kingsway traffic light and shooting incident at Shoprite Mall on Sunday February 24, 2008; and this list may not be exhaustive.

The mode of operation of the armed robbers is 'tail-gating', i.e driving behind their victim or hanging around the vicinity of the victims’ residence, and as soon as the gates open, they follow the victim inside and hold the security guards at gun point.

It is also observed that most of the robbery incidents took place on weekends (Friday to Sunday).  It is therefore advised that we should adjust our lifestyle by reducing late night outings, particularly on weekends.  We should also prearrange some agreed "Gate Procedures" with our security guards, e.g. calling the guards to alert them of your arrival and to notify them if there will be more than one vehicle.
Drivers should be briefed on some simply Defensive and Counter Surveillance techniques to aid them when they suspect that they are being followed and the necessary measures to adopt.

There are also reported cases of vehicles snatched from drivers at the Shoprite Mall while they were waiting for their Bosses to finish shopping inside the Mall.  Drivers should be instructed to park and leave their vehicles and move to an agreed location, preferably somewhere inside the Mall, until they are called by their Bosses

Did I hear somebody mention old Ikoyi?which Old Ikoyi? I would have said VGC and Osborne, but there are now isolated cases of robbers coming into VGC and escaping through the waterfront(towards the end of Road 2,where we have most of the on-going developments). For Osbourne, except you will remain locked within the estate perpetually cos if you come out @ night and head to your left towards 3rd mainland, you'll have to contend with that dangerous spot near Adeniji, after that you'll still have the entire stretch of 3rd mainland to contend with.If you however decide tohead left towards V.I,hmmmmm, that's even more dangerous as you could run into those robbers that usually lay siege alond Alfred Rewane Rd (Kingsway Rd) or run into those numerous syndicates that operate in Ikoyi @ anttime of the day.

Madueke, British Envoy Meet over ‘Nigerian Deportee’

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Ojo Madueke and the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Robert Dewar Have held talks over the British Airways incident of March 27, 2008 where over a 100 Nigerians were ordered off a Lagos bound aircraft for protesting against the inhuman treatment of a Nigerian deportee.
Madueke met with Dewar in his office in Abuja yesterday where he reiterated that President Yar’Adua’s posture on Citizen Diplomacy would not tolerate the inhuman treatment of any Nigerian for any reason, even when there are allegations of criminal activities.
He added that the bilateral relationship which the two nations have enjoyed over the years has ensured the temperate reactions to the matter, but to maintain it, Nigerians must be treated with dignity within and outside the shores of the country.
He appreciated the British government’s interest in the matter while urging Nigerians abroad to always comply with the laws of their countries of residence.Dewar gave the assurance that he had taken a special interest in the matter and would dig to find more information.
He appreciated Nigeria’s effort in peace keeping and conflict resolutions globally, while assuring Nigerians that the British government is educating its business community to be of best practice.
Meanwhile, the Director-General, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr Harold Demuren, has condemned attitude of British Airways over the way it responded to the Federal Government's invitation to explain why it maltreated Nigerian passengers on its flight 0075, that left London to Lagos on March 27.
Demuren, who was directed to investigate the matter by the Federal Government, invited the airline who sent its junior officials to the meeting.
Peeved by the attitude, Demuren terminated the meeting and directed the airline to come at a later date with its top officers as representatives, remarking that the airline should not treat an issue, which the Federal Government is interested in with such levity.
Commenting on the issue, Minister of State for Air Transportation, Mr Felix Hyat, told newsmen when he visited Lagos on Wednesday, that government was miffed by the report and said it would give it full priority after the investigation by NCAA.
Hyat condemned the incident, and said maltreatment of Nigerian passengers by foreign airlines must stop, noting that government must ensure that similar thing never happen again.
Early last year, former Minister of State, Air Transport, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, also condemned BA’s treatment of its Nigerian passengers.
On March 27 this year, about 137 Nigerian passengers on board British Airways flight 0075 from London to Lagos, witnessed the gory treatment of a Nigerian deportee who was handcuffed and forced into the flight.
The way he was manhandled made the deportee to shout for help, which prompted a Nigerian passenger, Ayodeji Omotade, to call the British immigration officials manhandling the deportee to exercise restraint.
Angered by this, the immigrations officials took the deportee and the sympathiser out of the plane, arrested the later and detained him, while the deportee was latervreturned to the flight.
Outraged by the incident, Nigerians who either witnessed or read the report in the British tabloid, Daily Mirror, wrote a protest letter, signed by over 1000 Nigerians, to the President, the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, demanding a front page apology in a Nigerian national daily newspaper to all passengers on-board flight BA0075, a written apology and appropriate compensation to Mr Ayo Omotade, lifting of the life ban imposed on him by the airline, and all criminal charges against him dropped forthwith.
But in a swift reaction, the British Airways in a statement, however, stated that it was right, and quoted the UK Immigration Act 1971, to back the action.

Transcorp investors to get dividends next year
By Bertram Nwannekanmna

INVESTORS in the Initial Public Officer (IPO) of Transnational Corporation Nigeria Plc (Transcorp) may be paid their first dividend next year, according to Mr. Patrick Okigbo, the Chief Finance Officer of the company.

Okigbo, who is also the corporation's Group Treasurer, assured investors at the April 2008 Institute of Directors (IOD) Nigeria members' public and government affairs evening held at the institute's secretariat, Lagos on Wednesday that the organisation was in good health.

Before the statement, investors, who had been following recent happenings in the multi-billion corporation had been entertaining fears of investment loss.

But Okigbo, who stood in for the Group Managing Director of the company, Mr. Tom Iseghoni, said the organisation would stick to the original plan contained in the prospectus during the public offer.

Describing the subscription of the offer as a near success with about 32.6 per cent, he said the corporation would reward its investors for reposing confidence in it.

Okigbo stressed that the current repositioning in the Nigeria Telecommunications (NITEL) by Transcorp would soon bring joy to investors despite the low price the company's stock sells in the market.

According to him, plans are in top gear to secure an investor, which will make the organisation check obstacles to its progress and raise the share price in the market.

Describing the current problems with the privatisation of NITEL as unfortunate, Okigbo said there was light at the end of the tunnel following the resolution of the grey areas which were inimical to the working of NITEL.

Okigbo, who spoke on the topic "Global sector trends: Transcorp and Nigeria opportunities," said the country could ride the global wave to join the league of industrialised nations if an enabling environment was put in place.

He criticised the involvement of government in business, stating that global trends demanded that the private sector must drive the economic engine.

Describing Transcorp as a unique vehicle to lead the charge, he said the organisation was in tune with the seven-point agenda of President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua and had structured the operations of the company in five areas of project management, infrastructure development, agriculture and brain drain reversal.

He said investors would start enjoying the dividend of their investment as soon as the exercise was completed.

Reacting to the recent strike action embarked upon by NITEL employees over unpaid salaries, he said the incident occurred because the company lacked money to pay them.

According to him, the strike has raised several questions relating to financial impropriety, which made NITEL inefficiency in the past years.

Earlier, President of the institute, Olusola Dada, had said Transcorp was invited to attend the meeting because the company represented the hope to complete the nation's last phase of privatisation.

He said the institute was worried by developments in Transcorp, especially as it concerned NITEL.
