PoliticsRe: Magic Of Buhari Body Language. A Plea For Help by Rawani: 7:59pm On Aug 21, 2015
Simply imbibe the characters of integrity, incorruptibility, disregard for wealth and a no-nonsense, non-compromising stance towards your values.

Your body language will then speak for you. It is your mum's body language that tells you not to misbehave in the presence of visitors without her speaking a word, for example.

Are you sure you know where Nassarawa state is? Boko boys are being squished like insects in Sambisa, their reign is ending so fear not.

Believe this story at your cost, Al-Makura is forever a joke, he realized he won't win at the tribunal hence this phantom $1bill investment.
Are you suggesting the courts would then give Al-Makura victory because of foreign investment? Wailers really need Lai Mohammed's crash course on opposition politics, this is embarrassing.

These are the kinds of news we should expect in this era of change. The FDI-friendly policies initiated by this government such as the free tax regime for solid minerals investors are no doubt reaping dividends. It is important however that the activities of the investors are regulated especially with the Chinese scramble for African resources, we must ensure that their skills are transferred and that they are socially responsible.

APC governments leading the change we seek since we were rescued from the scam goodluck.

Chinese government is ready to invest one billion dollars in Nasarawa State in the next five years through Tongyi group as part of its strategic partnership aimed at boosting commerce and trade.

This was disclosed by Mr. Yong Shubo, the general manager China public procurement in a chat with news men shortly after an interactive section with Nasarawa state government officials at government house Lafia.

Mr. Shubo said that China will invest in the areas of power generation, mining, airport construction, and road construction which are expected to create jobs and generate wealth for the citizens of the state.

Mr. Shubo explained that China is looking at the possibilities of making Nasarawa State an industrial hub because of the resources that abound in the state and its proximity to federal capital.

He added that the Chinese government will equally look at the Karu international market and prepare proposal for areas of partnership and job creation.

According to him, the market is capable of creating over a hundred thousand jobs with a multiplier effect.

Earlier, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura expressed confidence in the group owing to their track record in other countries of the world.

Al-Makura said that the collaboration with the Chinese investors will open up frontiers of investment opportunities and create wealth for the state.

What exactly would be the functional value of this? It neither looks like it flies nor has the capacity to carry any passenger or cargo. A drone would be a functional alternative (surveillance, parcel delivery etc).

PoliticsRe: Throwback Photo: Alh(dr) Yusuf Maitama Sule When He Was Young by Rawani: 12:45pm On Aug 21, 2015
The great Dan Masani, an oratorial legend.

Yusuf Maitama Sule is a Nigerian politician, acclaimed orator and diplomat. In 1976, he became the Federal Commissioner of public complaints, a position that made him the nation's pioneer ombudsman. In early 1979, he was a presidential candidate of the National Party of Nigeria but lost to Shehu Shagari. He was appointed Nigeria's representative to the United Nations after the coming of civilian rule in September 1979. While there he was chairman of the United Nations Special Committee against Apartheid.

After, the re-election of President Shagari in 1983, Maitama Sule was made the Minister for National Guidance, a portfolio designed to assist the president in tackling corruption.

PoliticsRe: PMB: The Dangers Of One-man-show - Steve Osuji (The Nation) by Rawani:
The fact is that uprooting the deep seated administrative culture of mediocrity, gross indiscipline and lack of accountability in our MDA's requires an extensive examination of the existing system of governance without the interference of political actors.

What PMB is likely doing through his meetings with perm-secs, is evaluating the current processes and procedures that are in practice, and tuning them appropriately to be in sync with his progressive and transparent approach to governance. The distractions that come with the appointment of ministers and their retinue of aides, and the politics involved in their confirmation could adversely influence the intended purpose of the MDA's evaluation.

There is no doubt that Ministers and other key government functionaries are necessary for effective and dynamic governance, however it is important that we do not build our castles on a foundation of rotten clay.
PoliticsRe: Army Recall Of Dismissed Solders: Buhari And APC Setting Dangerous Precedent by Rawani: 12:15pm On Aug 21, 2015
The lack of equipment was clearly a result of the massive corruption that pervaded the military under Goodluck Jonathan. Where is the justice in punishing the soldiers for reacting to stimuli against that background?

All things being equal, the actions of those soldiers are worthy of severe punishment but in this case it has been established by the authorities that funds for acquiring required equipment were mismanaged.

Would it not amount to hypocrisy if the same authorities had acted otherwise?

PoliticsRe: The State Government Should Be ABOLISHED In Nigeria. by Rawani: 8:53am On Aug 17, 2015
Udmaster:
Nice question, Every Local government should have a Branch of the federal ministries and Agencies.
2. Every Capital is under a local government territory and should be maintained by that LG.
1. 774 branches of the Ministry of Works to be administered by the same people battling with Federal projects? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

2. How will the 'special' host LGA be funded to maintain bridges, roads, state schools, specialist hospitals etc?
PoliticsRe: The State Government Should Be ABOLISHED In Nigeria. by Rawani: 8:07am On Aug 17, 2015
OP will each LGA have a ministry of finance, education and a water board?

How do you propose to administer these LGA's? A Federal ministry will be inadequate to administer over 700 local governments.

How will administration and development of the previous state capital be managed? Will they be abandoned as towns and left to deteriorate or what strategy do you have in mind?
PoliticsRe: RE: Countering 'president Buhari's Assets Declaration'' by Rawani: 7:22am On Aug 17, 2015
OP all of your claims are based on the Vanguard report you quoted. Let us do a textual analysis of the key aspect of the report:

"Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), said he would publicly declare his assets and liabilities, if voted into power. Buhari stated this in a document obtained by our correspondent in Abuja on Thursday. The "document" highlights what Buhari will do in his first 100 days if he assumes power on May 29."

Several other references were attributed to this "document"

OP have you seen this "document"? Has it been put forward by Vanguard? Was it appended to the report as usual?

Please provide this "document" for your thread to be taken seriously.

**

Second of all, Garba Shehu was correct. President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have declared their assets, as required by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/buhari-osibanjo-declare-assets/

The issue is the public declaration which you claim Buhari promised. Please provide the original source of his promise: the phantom "document" nobody has seen since February.

PoliticsRe: Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah: The Conscience Of A Nation. by Rawani: 12:48pm On Aug 16, 2015
Fr. Kukah is a man I respect so much, but he should have measured his words in this instance.

The passion of Nigerians in the war against corruption is nothing to be toyed with.
PoliticsRe: Lamentation : PDP Bemoans Defection Of Members To APC by Rawani: 12:34pm On Aug 16, 2015
The PDP should get it's acts together. Having the PDP chairman for Bayelsa in its stronghold as a defector is food for thought for the party.

Not that anyone thought that GEJ was competent to lead the party in his state anyway.
PoliticsRe: hdhjd by Rawani: 12:27pm On Aug 15, 2015
I never imagined that the people that will fight against the war on corruption are struggling young Nigerians that have been the direct victims of corruption itself.

OP, what you fail to understand is that corruption is systematic. Nobody decieves themselves that corrupt individuals can be suddenly healed of their vice, the objective is dismantling the system that fosters and propagates corruption.

For example, if the procedure for awarding contracts is streamlined such that only companies proven to be independent of government officials benefit, will the new policy not affect all governors and ministers regardless of their party affiliation?

Does the new CBN policy to mitigate money laundering not affect both PDP and APC members? Can any APC politician launder money the way they used to before when the outflow of foreign currency was not regulated?

This is the crux of the issue, everything else is pure sentiments and opposition politics.
PoliticsRe: Our Refineries Will Now Make Profits — NNPC by Rawani: 12:01pm On Aug 15, 2015
They will make profits because Diezani and GEJ no longer starve the refineries of crude oil for them to effectively function, in order to continue with their fraudulent offshore processing agreements and criminal petroleum round-tripping imports.

Even though importation continues, the fraudulent officials and companies are being expelled and government is actively working to maximize the output of the refineries so we can minimize or stop importation and OPA's completely.

Under President Buhari, the NNPC will run like ExxonMobil or Shell, and no longer like NIPOST.
PoliticsRe: Buhari’s Search For Saints As Ministers Will Fail – Senator Urhoghide by Rawani: 7:57am On Aug 15, 2015
Nigeria boasts of many technocrats that have not held public office, who hold principles and values that fuel their integrity.

Of course such people cannot thrive under the foul PDP atmosphere, and therefore sought refuge in Universities, hospitals and other fields where their value would impact humanity.

However with the advent of the PMB administration which is characterized by integrity and an agenda for responsible governance, such people can be coaxed into believing in national service once again and contributing their own quota to our national development.

In my understanding, this is what the President is doing.
PoliticsRe: Away With This Peace Committee By Joe Igbokwe by Rawani: 7:52am On Aug 15, 2015
I am still shocked at Kukah's choice of words for a man that divided Nigerians along ethno-religious fault line because of his ambition to rule for an entire decade.

A decade that would have been been plagued by wanton looting, brazen impunity, insecurity through incompetence, economic sabotage and glorification of criminality.

Spectacular indeed.

The sad truth is that the only things keeping them in the PDP are ethno-religious bias and the overbearing unrealizable desire to mend the broken pot that is Jonathan's reputation. What a sad existence.
PoliticsRe: Why We Are Leaving Jonathan And Dickson In PDP - Kinsmen by Rawani: 6:46am On Aug 15, 2015
All of this under GEJ's nose. It is shameful that an immediate ex-president and party leader lacks the authority, influence and competence protect the party from being dumped so disgracefully in his own State. Thank goodness we are sure he left the villa with his cluelessness.

However the PDP is gradually going extinct, which is not good for our democracy. It is hoped other parties will take advantage of this vacuum in the opposition to keep PMB on his toes.
