The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) on Wednesday arrested former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOS) Steven Oronsaye for his alleged involvement in over N6 billion biometric pension’s enrolment scam.

Daily Trust gathered that Oronsaye was detained at the head offices of the EFCC in Abuja and will be subsequently arraigned in court Thursday on corruption charges committed when he was Head of Civil Service.
EFCC sources told Daily Trust that Oronsaye is to be charged before an Abuja High Court along with five others for allegedly fleecing the pension’s monies in the notorious biometric enrollment scam allegedly carried out by the pension task team headed by Abudlrasheed Maina, who is still at large.

It was gathered that the EFCC investigations show Oronsaye was connected to the billions stolen under the guise of the biometric pension scam regime that implicated the now infamous Maina.
According to sources, Oronsanye it was as Head of the Civil Service of the Federation was linked to the fraud going on under the pension’s task team and authorized siphoning of billions meant for pensioners.

It was also learnt that the EFCC is set to attach as part of its proof of evidence a recent report by the auditor general of the federation titled Special Audit of the Accounts of Civil Pensions, which indicted Oronsaye of involvement in looting billions.
EFCC sources hinted that the charge sheet has already been prepared and the embattled former Head of Service is likely to remain in custody until he is arraigned tomorrow.

You were wrong in making it seem like Ekpenyong was not senior enough when he was made DG, Jonathan dismissed Gadzama obviously for his role during the Yar’Adua's sickness saga and promptly appointed the next most senior Director as DG, Buhari dismissed Ekpenyong as is his prerogative but chose instead to bring a mid level retiree from his village to head the agency, Ekpenyong was fully qualified and merited his appointment when he was promoted but Daura got his simply because of him hailing from Daura ...QED

He was Gadzama's No 2, Operations is the next most senior role so he fully merited his becoming DG not because he was from SS, plus if GEJ wanted his kinsman, he would have picked an Ijaw man from a core Niger Delta state like Delta, Bayelsa or Rivers

Does that mean nobody in the entire directorial cadre of the SSS that was competent enough that Buhari had to bring a mid level retiree to head the organisation, Daura only got the job because he's from Daura....nothing about competence here, the outgoing DG was the Operations Director before he was promoted to DG BY GEJ, a stark difference from this

I don't agree with the author. I think the northerners are the most suitable people for the job. In addition, he need someone he can trust for such a sensitive job and not a mere southerner who are not trustworthy.
In all seriousness, I genuinely hope they would serve the country in fairness and with dignity.
