Creating a Breakthrough Auto Concept

Jelani Aliyu is the Nigerian born prodigy who designed the Chevrolet Volt, a state-of-the-art electric car, for General Motors. Aliyu began his career with General Motors in 1994 with a degree in automobile design received from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. He was born in 1966 in Sokoto State in Nigeria. From a large family, Aliyu was the fifth of seven children born to the same parents, and has two more siblings from his father’s second marriage. Both of his parents are deceased and did not have the fortune of witnessing their fifth child rise to greatness with General Motors.
Jelani Aliyu attended the Federal Government College in Sokoto, Nigeria, graduated in 1983 and received an award for Best in Technical Drawing. He then studied design at two other colleges in Nigeria and received his Associate’s degree in Architecture from Birnin Kebbi Polytechnic in 1988, where he was recognized as the Best Student. In 1990, Aliyu moved to Detroit, Michigan to enroll at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit where he received his degree in automobile design in 1994 before beginning his career with the design staff of General Motors. He worked on the Buick Rendezvous and was the lead exterior designer of the Pontiac G6. He also worked on the Astra with General Motors’ Opel Division.
With his brilliant work on the design of the Chevrolet Volt, which was unveiled in 2007, Jelani Aliyu is considered by many to be the super star of the General Motors renaissance.

What I would be worried about is never having the privilege of these positions or influence and being dominated by political masters, yet having a 59.1% poverty rate (only 18% less than the north) and being plagued with societal vices from the pit of hell like grandma rape_, baby manufacturing, ritual killing, Cannibalism etc. and still cursed with not having hope of leading my own country in the nearest future. That is losing on both ends! Even the Israelites took a shorter time to reach the promised land.

I see our politicians are now being proactive, however adequate attention should be paid to how it will be enforced considering the preponderance of mushroom private schools, and how to mitigate the effects the decision will make on the school calendar. Kudos Shekarau.

Bolt3: Why don't people say whites have inferiority complex when they tan.
That's because they don't tan to look Black, but to look Orange. Pale skin is disgusting.
Fashion › Re: Black Women: "Why Don’t You Wear Your Hair Natural?” by Rawani:
Caracta: If it's about slave mentality, then why wear clothes and shoes? Afterall, your ancestors never had designer shirts and shoes.
Were we born with clothes and shoes? That analogy is weak because you are born with natural hair which you wore for at least the first 10 years of your life without any worries, and you adorned it with beautiful ribbons and you were sure it was the most beautiful thing. Then you grew up and bought into the media propaganda and image of a beautiful woman which is typically with Caucasian features.

I believe our immediate society has a share of the blame because a girl is not deemed to have grown up if she does not attach extensions to her hair, we all know how girls see their graduation from secondary school as a liberation from their 'nappy, short and unattractive' braided hair. Have we forgotten how 'making your daughters hair for Xmas' meant fixing of extensions and weaves on the poor girls delicate scalp? All these leave impressions that natural hair is undesirable in the little impressionable minds of our young girls, who grow up and perpetuate the cycle. It's all about psyche and environmental conditioning.

You are not your hair.

The BH I saw in that video seem heavily backed and financed by foreign interests who will not stop their expansionist agenda because they reached River Niger. Those bloodsuckers if not completely obliterated now, will continue to expand their territory and seize assets all the way to the Bakassi Peninsula and beyond. I however believe a committed army, supported by strategic air strikes will decimate these jihadists and blow Sambisa to smithereens.

It's instructive then, according to Nwankwo, that if you are not chestbeating, arrogant and belligerent, you do not possess the Ibo heart. Zik seems to have been an intelligent and insightful gentleman who saw the great folly of Ojukwu.

China is quietly re-colonising Africa under the guise of infrastructural development and economic co-operation. I was speechless when a Zim colleague told me there's a shopping mall in their country, which is solely populated by Chinese and their products - On African Soil!

MOBJECTIVE: It's hard to see where/if the money made by cocoa, rubber, and food produce sale comes into this isn't it.
That is simply because this is a fancy infographic for the simple mind, and the detailed report stating commodities is a report from the NATIONAL BUREAU FOR STATISTICS. The funny thing is it has not changed what is already known. grin

PapaBrowne: These figures are totally wrong and have zero basis. How did the author come up with these discombobulated stats?

From reliable agencies, Lagos state alone has an estimated GDP of $80 billion which equates to 13 Trillion. But this reports arrogates 8.2 trillion to the whole of the South West.

The assumed total GDP OF Nigeria from these fake stats is (15.65 + 8.4 + 8.2 + 5.7 + 1.4 +1.2)= Approximately 24 Trillion Naira. In Dollars, that is 130 Billion Dollars. The last time Nigeria's GDP measured 130 Billion Dollars was in the early 2000's when oil was still selling at $25 per barrel.

Nigeria's GDP stands around $510 BILLION which is equivalent to over 85 Trillion Naira. These figures are fake.

They are most likely presented for political purposes most likely sponsored by the north west ruling class to create an impression that they contribute immensely to the economy versus the South east. And that the only reason the South South has such figures is the oil it possesses. The North West consists of Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, Zamfara. Minus Kano and Kaduna, the rest are empty arid zones many of which dont have up to 10 banks serving the whole state. Banks follow GDP and that's why they have their highest concentration in Lagos, Abuja and PH. The last I checked, CBN released figures indicating that a majority of all cash transactions happen in Lagos, PH, Abuja, Aba and Onitsha.
The long and short of it all is that these are fake figures with political undertones. Its pathetic that people still resort to these kinds of misinformation to further their parochial interests.
He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. I suggest you post the source of your figures before trying to discredit the posters figures as that smacks of hypocrisy and chronic myopia. I assume that the figures posted were those gotten BEFORE THE ECONOMY WAS REBASED which is the reason for the wide disparity with those you produced. I would have expected that with the zeal you used to make your post, you would be honourable enough to post your source and treat the posters submission with reasonable doubt, instead of emotionally induced outright condemnation.

MayorofLagos: Im going to restrain myself from commenting on tbis most important topic of the century.

SE has spent all its money putting up modern roofs to give an aerial impression to visitors flying in to the region. The impression fade off the moment visitors land and have to wade through flooded tarmac and terminals at the international airport. seaport.

whatlyf: This doesn't make sense
How will it make sense when he is comparing one of the wealthiest countries in the world with a barren region that has a 60% poverty rate?
